Vibrate Texts, Sound Calls

Is there a way I can set my text messages to vibrate while still leaving the other options on ring? I know you can change to silent/ring mode and switch to vibrate but that makes incoming calls vibrate too. I would like to only make incoming texts vibrate while if i get a call it will ring.

When I do that, it neither vibrates or chimes (even when the silent mode switch is off).

During a two weeks process, little by little I notice my phoe doesn't ring when I get a phone call. So Far I have missed 22 calls that I am aware of. Moreover, the phone does not alert me when I get a text message. Sometimes I receive notice the next day that I received a call or a text message.

Follow the basic troubleshooting steps outlined in the user guide... reset, restore from backup, restore as new.

I have a nearly identical problem with my Ipad 3. Mine is the left channel. I've yet to find help, but have found a number of other posts on this and other forums discussing the issue. People have tried restore, reset etc. Also, cleaning the ports with compressed air or cotton swabs. It appears to be a software issue, but no one is sure.
Along with the original poster, I'd appreciate any help.

IF you have installed/activated Verizon Message+ on your phone, then yes you can. If not, you are out of luck.
If they are iMessages on an iPhone, you could log into your iMessage account on an Apple computer to read the iMessages, but would be unable to view SMS/MMS.

It's possible that number was used for iMessage by someone else - I think phone numbers get "recycled," if you will, and inactive numbers get re-used after a period of time.
Have your friend contact Apple and see if they can help get the number removed.

No, sounds like when you dropped it an cracked the screen it may have also damaged the logic board or the repair person damaged a cable.

I had the same problem. It appears it is a software issue and we will have to wait for an update. In the mean time, someone on here suggested that you turn the phone off and back on again whenever this happens and it will fix it for a while. Has worked for me so far.

Sounds not working on incoming text or calls

i am not consistently receiving either the incomming text sound or standard ringtones when I receive calls. My mute button is off, the sounds in the sound control it all the way up. help!

Try turning off Bluetooth. Hope apple will fix this one day!

Since updating to iOS 6 I no longer can hear the send and recieve text sounds when texting

Updated to IOS 6 yesterday and now I am having trouble hearing the text "swoosh" or whatever it is called while in a converstation the sound you hear when you send one or recieve one. Also when my phone is switched to vibrate mode when I receive a text message all my phone does is light up and it dosn't not vibrate which stinks cuz if it is my pocket I don't know if I'm getting a text message. I went into the message settings to try and set a vibrate tone for when recieveing a text and It won't even vibrate when I click on an option or click to create my own vibration pattern. My phone still however vibrates when I recieve an email or when someone calls me ect.... just not on texts and no sound when in a text conversation as in sent and recieved sounds. My sister, and both my parents updated to IOS 6 yesterday and they are having not probems of any sort? Anyone else have this problem and know of a solution? Ive already tried resetting my phone thinking maybe it was a glitch but still have the same problems.

I figured out my problem...... I have custom text tones set up for certain ppl and had the default text tone set to "none" well with the iOS6 update it made it so if your default text tone is set on "none" then you won't hear what I call the send and recieve text sounds when in a converstation... if you change the default text tone to any text tone other than "none" you will get your send and recieve sounds back.... kinda annoying if you don't won't random texts from ppl waking you up... so I made a custon text tone that is called silence with just recording a few seconds of dead noise then edited it and turned all the sound levels down to 0 and set that as my default text tone.... now I have the send and recieve text sounds in a conversation and everything is fine! Sorry Nehucskter the first time I had this problem thats the first thing I did was reboot my phone.... first thing you do for everything lol....

The sound on/off button is on, the sound settings are set to ring and not vibrate but the sound will not work. It will ring for incoming phone calls but for nothing else. No video, no text sound, no click while typing, etc. The phone has been reset to factory default 3 times. Apparently, I have a apple phone that is a lemon........

Iphone os 4.2.6 no text sound now

I just setup my new phone yesterday...all is great. Today I upgraded the os to 4.2.6 and now the text sounds don't work. Pressing volumn buttons doesn't do anything. I can access the Sounds menu and change the ringtone but the text sounds don't work...and i don't get any email notification other than a vibrate. Yes, the sounds are activated...and "Change with buttons" is yes.

Yup that is the first thing i checked..when I flipped it on and off it had no effect. I decided to test something and plugged in the headphones...when i then used the volumn..the control worked. I unplugged them and magically now all control seems normal. Very strange...almost like it wasn't fully reset. I know the install worked...and the device did reboot.

IPhone 4 vibration, wifi, and calling will not function correctly?

I have had my iPhone 4 for 6 months now, and I have dropped it a couple of times, but a few days after I dropped it nothing happened. My first problem started in May when I noticed that my phone could not reach the wifi at home or other places quickly as it normally could and when I would go into other rooms I would lose the connection quickly.This made me have to use my 3g more often and I only have a limit of 300MB, I normally do not use it, because of the wifi i have around,but it is getting harder. 2-3 days ago I called the DATA (*3282#) in my phone and got 64.89 out of 300MB. I later used my 3G for awhile, so a day later i called DATA and the same number (64.89 out of 300MB) comes on again. I knew this was a mistake so I called it again and the same number shows up. I KNOW FOR SURE I USED MY 3G, so I dont know why this keeps popping up. Everything else channged (texting and calling) On top of that my vibration started to not work in early June and it's difficult for me to know when someone has texted or called. I have tried going into settings and choosing a different type of vibration, but it does not vibrate overall and yes it is turned on. My version right now is 6.1. Will upgrading help? Everything else works fine, but is there a way I can fix this or do I have to go the Apple Store? I'm also in AT&T.

For the data usage,
I have AT&T as well and I found that the Data usage only updates about once a day even though texting updated instantly.
As for the vibration,
The vibration motor thing may be broken.
But I am not sure.
