Vibrating while Texting

As I've been reading, there seem to be a lot of issues with the new update. I made the mistake of updating my Droid X this morning and have regretted it ever since.
My main issue with my phone now is how it vibrates while I'm texting. This may seem stupid, but is there any way to make it stop doing that? It's extremely annoying.
Thanks for your help!

  • Vibrate while texting

I set up the feature to have my phone to vibrate everytime I would hit a key when texting. I don't remember excatly when it stopped doing this. I have a feeling it was when I put my BB in my friend's BB holster. Now, my BB won't do vibrate when texting. I cannot find that feature anywhere on my phone anymore. I really need it because my keys are really small. The vibration helps with key response for better typing.

    Hello christopherpylant,
    Welcome to the forums.
There is no setting on the BlackBerry smartphone that will provide this feature. Were you by any chance using a 3rd party application to accomplish the vibrating while typing?

  • Redundant, annoying and wasteful vibrating while texting

My phone is set to vibrate on silent (which it is, usually), so it vibrates to alert me to texts when I'm not in the messaging app. Which is great, that's exactly what it should do and what I want it to do. What I don't understand then, is why it continue to vibrate to every text I receive from a person, as I have their conversation open in the messaging app. It's as if Apple wants to "alert me" to a message in a conversation that I am actively participating in and can already see, in real time. It's completely unnecessary, redundant, very, very annoying, and wasteful of battery life. How do I turn this annoying feature off while preserving the ability to vibrate outside of the application (when it actually is a relevant alert)? I don't want to turn off "vibrate on silent," nor do I want to go off silent mode.
Currently running iOS 7.0.4 on iPhone 5.

I have the exact problem because I get a lot of texts. I just turn vibrate off and set notification for text as alert so it pops up on whatever I am doing

  • Disable sound and/or vibration while in Messages app?!

    Hi!
I would like to know is there some option in the iOS where I could disable sounds and vibration while I'm using Messages app (app is open and the display is turned ON and I can see the message I recieved). This is very annoying when I'm using iMessages and getting a message every few seconds and then my phone vibrates constantly. It is of course OK if I'm not in Messages app but when I'm already using it I don't need a notification I got a message when I can see it for myself.

I'm having the exact same problem. I get a random text message ding for no discernible reason at least oncer per day. No alerts from apps, no email, no texts, no missed calls, no voicemails. It's not changing connection types between wifi, 3G, and edge. I know that the first gen iPhones sometimes dinged in that situation. If anyone knows what's causing this I would love to hear it.
Just to be clear I'm using a perfectly normal, not jailbroken, iPhone 4 running the latest software version.
    Regards,
    John G.

  • Sound for phone but vibrate for text

Hi. I would like to set my iPhone up so that it will make a sound for calls, but only vibrate for text. This is very important to me because I am on call for my job. Thus I would like to be awakened if called, but not for receiving an SMS.
A similarly useful feature would be to be able to use a different volume ringtone for text than for call (that way I could just set up a very quiet rintone for text).
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The volume for ringtones for the phone and txt are set with the volume rocker on the outside of the phone. That is the same no matter what. Once solution would be to create a ringtone and reduce the volume of it when you create it. Another solution that I have seen mentioned here for a similar situation was to set the SMS tone to None. That should then allow it just to vibrate if you have vibrate turned on.

  • Iphone 5c freezes while texting

My iphone keeps freezing while texting for about 15-20 seconds.  Especially if I go back to correct a text and move the cursor.  I've tried resetting all settings and problem is still persisting.

Did you try restarting your phone? Do you have space left on your phone or is it close to the limit? (this tends to make phones slower). Is it happening only when you text or also when you search something on Safari or send a tweet or anything?

  • Is there anyway to disable the chime when I accidentally catch the microphone icon while texting (phone is in silent mode)

    Hi all,
I might be being a little dull here, but my question is exacly as in the title: Is there anyway to disable the chime when I accidentally catch the microphone icon while texting (phone is in silent mode)?  I have fat fingers occasionally and whilst people at work don't mind private phone usage to have it occasionally activating the mic and then me cancelling it a little annoying.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Dave

There is a proximity sensor that should turn the screen off when you place the phone near your face.  Do you have a case that's blocking this?  Try removing your case.  If no case, try restoring you iPhone.  If still a problem, return it to Apple for a warranty replacement.

Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    If no joy...
    Reset all settings

  • Lost names while texting. Numbers still there though. Not all names just some

I  just lost some of my contact names while texting. Some are still there while others show just their numbers now and not their names anymore. What's up with that? I did a hard reset And it still didn't fix the problem. It's been updated and also sync.

You can just rely on your locally created backup and try using the iPhone Backup Extractor tool to extract your contact data. You can easily import it back to your iPhone. Just a short question: is your iPhone jailbroken?
