Vibration on laptop every time the power cord is connected.

I always have my macbook pro connected to the outlet charger because I heard that is best to do. I've only had my laptop for about 3 weeks.
I've been noticing these last few days that when the laptop is in use or off, but still charging through the outlet when I touch the laptop, like whichever part i feel vibration. is this normal?? it's not very strong vibration, it almost feels like i'm bringing the energy to the surface.

If this occurs only when the machine is plugged into AC and not when it's running on battery power, the outlet (or outlets) to which you're connecting the three-prong cord is/are improperly grounded. This is a fault in the wiring in your house or place of work. You can confirm it by testing the outlet(s) with a simple, inexpensive device like this:

  • Does a Laptop Warranty Cover the Power Cord?

Hi, I bought a HP Envy Touchsmart 15 and it is still covered by warranty.   However, I cannot find any support help online such as  the support chat which I find very odd since I just used it about a month ago when my battery died!  Where did all the support go?
Anyways, when I plug in my laptop, the LED by the power port does not come on, and my laptop will not charge or turn on at all.  My battery is dead, but I know it works becasue it is less than a month old.  Since my laptop will not run on AC power even with the battery removed, I feel the power cord is the problem.
I would really like to know if my warranty covers the power cord, and if so how do I contact HP, since there is absolutley no information when I go to "Contact Us" besides the consumer forums.
I am a ECE student at UT in Austin, and every day I go without a laptop is hurting my grades.  So I need help ASAP

    Hi
Yes, power cord, adapter are covered under limited warranty. HP would replace it for you if it's faulty.

  • Envy DV7 laptop will not boot without the power cord being connected

My laptop won't boot on its own even when the battery indicator reads "fully charged (97%). If I have the power cord plugged into the computer (and the wall), it boots right away. Without the power cord, the "power indicator light" flashes once, the screen brightens to a lighter shade of gray, then it just shuts down.
I'm thinking I need to replace the battery but I thought it best to check with the experts first...................☺
    Thanks!!
ETA..........I just saw the post about power cord failure. My power cord is one of those affected and I will be filling out the request for a replacement. Unfortunately my serial number is apparently located inside the battery compartment. I'm wondering if my cord has overheated and caused this boot problem with my computer.

    Hello, @jksweeney
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that your having an issue with the power and your notebook. That you've applied to have the power cord replaced as it was part of the recall.
Please let me know when that has been taken care of if the issue remains. I will remain subscribe to this thread, so that I will be notified if you post again.

    Hi Sazli,
Try to build an executable application from the RT VI using the Build Specification and set the executable real-time application to Run On Startup. Then the executable would automatically stat up as soon as myRIO boots.

  • Macbook shutdown. It won't reboot and the power cord isn't lit when plugged in

Had my macbook running and it just shut down. I cannot get it to reboot and the power cord isn't lit up when it is connected to the computer. The only problem leading up to this was I could not use the computer unless the power cord was connected. Any suggestions? Thanks

  • Windows 7 will go to sleep without wakeup while booting in bootcamp. i have noticed that this happens when the power adapter is connected.

okay the current issues after installing OS X Lion are:
Windows 7 in bootcamp will go to sleep immediately during booting and will never comes back to life until the power cord is connected and disconnected several times. any solution?
MS Office for Mac 2011 will refuse to update as it fails to detect the drive in which the previous version of office is installed. mine is installed in Machintosh HD but the update fails to find the program after dowloading the update file.
Mac lion didnt even offer new backgrounds, live wallpapers or anything new except two little icons on desktop for Mission control and launchpad. On thhae other hand they have taken off the front row.
Itunes interface is ancient. nothing magical. it just like the video players in linux. nothing modern or advanced.
where is the customization for gestures?
Its a disappointment that Mac is going the same way of ****** windows.

That is normal behavior. The power will drop several percent before the charge function kicks in. If you leave it on power you'll notice it start to charge somewhere around 96% maybe 95%.
You can just leave it plugged in and it'll take care of itself.

  • MacBook Pro does not go to sleep when power cord is connected

    Hi Experts,
I have recently discovered that my MacBook Pro (2009) with OSX Lion does not go to sleep when the power cord is connected. It does not matter if I close the lid or select sleep from the Apple menu. All that happens is that the screen is powered off, the SIL is solid and I can hear the HDD/fan. I have not changed any of my power settings recently and it has not been a problem previously. If I disconnect the power cord the MB goes to sleep as supposed to (the SIL led starts flashing).
Doing some research I have found other users with somewhat the same issues when VMWare Fusion is installed. I have done some further testing and it seems that if I disable the virtual machine's Network Adapter and quit VMWare Fusion the MB goes into sleeping mode when the lid is closed even with the power cord connected. Enabling the Network Adapter again prevents the MB to go into sleeping mode when the power cord is connected. This even applies when the VMWare application is shutted down.
My guess is that the Network Adapter somehow prevents the MB to go into sleeping mode. The workaround is of course toggling the Network Adapter on and off but the virtual machine has to be running in order to do so. Not being that familiar with network settings on a Mac is there any other way to get around the problem?
    Thanks in advance :-)

    To anyone,
I have turned internet sharing off but the Ethernet box remains checked. If I uncheck the Ethernet box, the Internet Sharing bubble turns red, however when I close System Preferences and re-open, the box is automatically checked although Internet Sharing is off. Because of this my Macbook Pro will not sleep properly.
All other sharing items are turned off. Only Internet Sharing continues to automatically show Ethernet as active from a Wi-Fi connection.
    Any advice?

  • My laptop crashes - i think it's the power cord but i'm not for sure

I have a 2 year old Toshiba Satellite Laptop model # A205-S4707.  I bought it brand new in 2008, but I just recently started having this problem.  I at first thought it was a problem with the video card because what will happen is the video freezes up and will show different color lines or a black or blue box.  I thought the window air conditioning unit by my desk being on may have something to do with it because I started noticing the issue at the beginning of summer when I started using the window AC.  The problem would normally happen when it would be loading my programs when I first turn it on, but now it crashes 30 minutes to an hour or maybe 2 hours after I turned it on.  I than thought it might be my power cord since there's a couple places in my power cord where the inner wire is exposed,  so I taped the areas and plugged it back in and it still crashes, but not as much as it used to.  The other day it wanted to crash every time I tried to start my laptop up, and since it would just crash after 2 hours of it being on. And this morning it wanted to crash while loading windows twice when I had it plugged in, but when I unplugged it it's working fine.  Something tells me it's the power cord causing the issue - anyone else have any experience with this issue? If so, how can this issue be resolved? I can't go on depending on battery usage because I like leaving my laptop on when I'm asleep (I have it turned off when I'm at work - so it's on probably 15 hours a day).  If anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it. My OS is Windows Vista.
    THanks,
    Mike

I have an 18-month P305 series Satellite and for a while (approximately 8-9 months ago) I couldn't figure out why my laptop would all of a sudden shut down while everything was working fine, or sometimes it even shut off when I press the power button to turn it on. My laptop was also acting pretty wierd with the Illumination Buttons, they wouldn't respond and froze, wouldn't light up after the computer has turned on and sometimes it won't turn off if the computer's been completely shut down, yes, the lights still stay lit afterward.
Just last week, when I was moving my laptop around to adjust for comfort, the thing shuts down on me again, this time I realized that the ac light had a 'quick' flick and this tells me that there is something wrong with power supply, either DC jack or the cord by the plug. I usually disconnect the battery when I have it plugged in to preserve the life of the cells. So when every time this thing becomes loose, the laptop would shut off. I was actually blaming the problem with bad BIOS and and maybe faulty updated drivers. The other day, I held the wire (by the socket and the fuse) and kind of twist and turn it and sure enough, I lost power, and the ac light flickered. I knew right away that was the problem. I found an identical original OEM power supply on ebay for $15 shipped, received it today and all is well. All this time, the culprit was the power cord.
My advice is to take the battery out and run the power from the AC cord, wiggle and turn the 'wire' slightly by the dc jack, also, test the plug to the DC connecter; hold the barrel (the plug socket to the computer) and wiggle it, if it doesn't shut off then it's the wire and you need a new power supply. Make sure you buy one that is of high quality. I recommend OEM for safety reasons.

  • My lenovo g510 shows black screen every time I power it on but the power lights are on .

Every time I power on my laptop it shows black screen.but fan is running and power lights are on. After detaching and reattaching battery several times onece screen turns on and laptop then works smoothly.but after shutting it down again on next day same problem persists. I have already tried power drain out method.but on the next go same problems arises.what to do.

    Hi Anish1,
    Welcome to the Forums
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with black screen in your Lenovo G510 laptop.
As you have mentioned that black screen when turned on, can you hear the windows login sound?
Remove the battery and connect only adapter and check for the issue also connect only battery and check for the issue.
Connect an external monitor and check if the display appears in the external monitor then its a issue with the LCD, if there is no display in the external monitor then it might be issue with the motherboard, hence suggest you to visit the nearest authorised service centre.
Click here for the service centre and select your region.
    Best regards,

  • My laptop turns off when i remove the power cord

I have a Pavilion dv7-6c27cl running windows 7 (64 bit). Everytime I remove my laptop from the power cord, it shuts down immdiently. The battery says that it is at 77% and charging. I don't know what wrong at all. The light on the side is orange. Ideas on what's wrong and how to fix it?

It has to be a battery problem....I am getting that it just sits at 77% and never goes higher or lower? If you are still in warranty, the battery is covered (up to 1 year, I think), and if not you need to buy yourself a new battery. If by some chance you could try another known good battery that would be helpful but that seems unlikely.

The serial number has nothing to do with this.
YOur phone is in recovery mode.
You will need access to a computer with itunes on it to restore your phone.

Sounds like the disk in your MBP is accessing data on wake up
If you are still concerned you can take it into the Apple Store where they can hear it to be sure

How can I keep apps in the order I prefer?  I've rearranged via iTunes but every time I power cycle the phone, the apps go back to their original positions...

    Hi kelori617,
If you are having issues organizing the Apps on your iPhone via iTunes, you may want to double-check the steps in the following article and make sure you are syncing any changes to your device:
iTunes 11 for Mac: Sync and organize iOS apps
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12115
iTunes 11 for Windows: Sync and organize iOS apps
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12315
If all of the steps are correct and the changes still aren't being retained when you restart your iPhone, you may want to make sure your data is backed up, then try restoring your iPhone to factory settings, restore your data from the backup, then test to see if you can organize your apps via iTunes:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

  • Lost the power cord for time capsule!

So I've lost the power cord for my time capsule. I went to an Apple store and they don't sell them but the employee said that it is a standard cord and I should be able to pick one up at a Radio Shack or the like? Has anybody else had to do this? I can't find the specs on the time capsule either of exactly what type of cord is needed.

who ever told you that has Model: 61-2876 | Catalog #: 61-2876 cord in mind. I'm not sure if it will work...it looks close....are you saying you were told you can't order a replacement cord from Apple?
