Not unless it goes back online.  If it was stolen it may have been restored, in which case it will never appear again in Find My iPhone.

  • Customizing messaging and silent mode

    Several questions here:
1- Is there a way to choose to send text message rather than iMessage to a specific contact other than completely turning off iMessage?
2- Can the vibrate mode be customized to select how many vibrations for each category rather than 2 for everything? This is rather helpful when in silent mode, becasue you can set i.e. one vibration for messages, two for mails, etc (I could do this in my very basic Blackberry 8520...)
3- Is there a way to change the default that when there is one and only one new message inside the Messages built-in app and you tap it, it directly opens the new message? becasue when there's more than one you get to see the list and choose, but with only one it always opens it right away
    Thank you.

    @ahmedX that won't work

  • Pagp and silent mode

    Hello,
I am confused with the "silent" mode when used with PAGP "auto" and "desirable" modes.
"CCNP BCMSN exam certification guide" book, says that "silent" is used when peer is not capable of sending Pagp frames (does not participate in pagp), so that an etherchannel is built in our side anyway.
But everywhere(cisco's site, book), is reffered that if one peer is in "auto" mode and other in "on" mode OR one peer is in "desirable" and other in "on" mode, a channel is not formed.
Since the default submode for both - "desirable" and "auto" - is "silent"( meaning that our side does not expect any pagp frames) why a channel can not been established?
    Thanks.

    Hello Bob Grante,
I agree with you that the documentation is very confusing and vague about PaGP negotiation.
From what I understand an EtherChannel will form only if one side is configured to be non-silent. I cannot confirm this because I do not have access to a etherchannel capable switch at this time.
I quote the 3550 Software Configuration Guide 12.2(25)SE.
    "Silent Mode" (Page 31-5)
"The silent mode is used when the switch is connected to a device that is not PAgP-capable and seldom,
if ever, sends packets. An example of a silent partner is a file server or a packet analyzer that is not
generating traffic. In this case, running PAgP on a physical port connected to a silent partner prevents
that switch port from ever becoming operational; however, the silent setting allows PAgP to operate, to
attach the interface to a channel group, and to use the interface for transmission."
    The configuration examples te
    "Configuring EtherChannels (Page 31-10)
"non-silent -- If your switch is connected to a partner that is
PAgP-capable, you can configure the switch interface for
nonsilent operation. You can configure an interface with the
non-silent keyword for use with the auto or desirable mode.
If you do not specify non-silent with the auto or desirable
mode, silent is assumed. The silent setting is for connections
to file servers or packet analyzers. This setting allows PAgP
to operate, to attach the interface to a channel group, and to
    use the interface for transmission."
I also would like to quote Brian McGahan, CCIE #8593
"The description of silent and non-silent is hard to extrapolate from the brief description on CCO, but this is what it means. When in "silent" mode, the switch will generate (if in "desirable" mode) PAgP and respond to PAgP (if in "auto" mode) regardless of whether the link is "silent", meaning whether or not you are recieving traffic from your neighbor.
When in "non-silent" mode, the switch will only initiate or respond to a PAgP request if the link is "non-silent", meaning that you are receiving traffic in the interface.
Why this is even an option I'm not really sure, but by default the switch will run PAgP regardless of whether or not traffic is being received in the interface." -- http://forum.internetworkexpert.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=3346&Main=3256
I think the only way to find out is to test it yourself in a lab environment. I will keep this in mind for future testing.

  • IPhone takes a moment to vibrate when turned on silent mode

When I click the little switch on the left side of the iPhone it doesn't vibrate right away it takes a few seconds, my moms iPhone and friends iPhone both do it instantly. I've tried closing all my apps but it still does it, any way to fix this?

I went into settings and changed the vibrate setting to only vibrate in silent mode, and when i put it in silent mode it doesn't vibrate. The only time it will vibrate in silent mode is if i have it set to vibrate all the time which i don't want. Any help would be appreciated it. I just got my phone last week so i'm still fairly new at it.
Also on a side note does anyone notice the in call volume being slightly lower, or is it just me. My old phone when I had my in call volume maxed out i could hold the phone away from my ear and hear them clear as day. With this phone i have to have the phone pressed against my ear to hear clearly. I didn't  know if that was a 2.2 issue or what because all my other speakers work great and are very loud I had to actually turn down my media speaker. Thanks again God Bless.
I may can help you with this but it would be easier if I knew what alert you are wanting to vibrate because as reported in other post that there is a number of settings for the device to alert you.
    1. Check Setting/Sound/Vibrate and change setting to Vibrate "Only in Silent Mode"
    2. Under Messaging click Account Name/Left Menu Key/Email Setting/Notifications/Check Vibrate...This option is listed under all accounts listed under Messaging ececpt SMS.
    3. For Gmail has to goto to Gmail/Left Menu Key/More/Settings/Vibrate/Only When Silent
If this doesnt resolve issue, you may want to look into Audio Manager or WidgetLocker, I use both of these and I never have to worry about the vibrate option because Audio Manager places all volume options in one place and WidgetLocker allows you to toggle from Ring-Silent-Vibrate just by swiping a slider on lock screen.   Hope this helps you.

  • AudioServicesPlaySystemSound not woriking in [headphone & silent mode]

    Hello.
I have some problem of AudioServicesPlaySystemSound function.
In condition of [HEADPHONE pluged in] AND [SILENT mode] ,
    AudioServicesPlaySystemSound() does not work.
    Is this normal status?
Do I have to use other method?
    Thank you.
    my situation :
       silent mode    headphone                situation
             OFF          REMOVE                    Sound OK
ON            REMOVE         I can control like vibration
             OFF           PLUG-IN                    Sound OK
             ON             PLUG-IN                   Sound OFF

Ok, looks like I have solved my problem. After trying every thing up to a complete dump and reload back to factory new; I fixed the phone purely by accident.
I was getting a message that said something like – this accessory is not an iPhone compatible device. Would you like to start in airplane mode to reduce the risk of external interference?
I got that message even after restoring the phone and dumping all the data from the phone. So I was sure it was not a software thing. I loaded an iTunes song and tried to play it but the problem had not been resolved; Still no sound and no volume slider at the bottom of the screen.
I decided I was going to take the phone to the store for possible repair. Used a can of air and blew the dust out of the data/charge port on the bottom of the phone. As soon as I did that I noticed the volume bar appeared on the screen.
Every thing appears to be working normally now. I guess I had some foreign object in the port that was causing the phone to think an adapter was plugged in.
Moral of my story – blow the dust and pocket lint (in this case it was my wife’s phone so it was purse lint) out of the phone ever now and then.
    Thanks for the suggestions.

  • Is there a way to see a notification of silent mode?

I don't think this exists, but i really want to be able to see a little symbol at the top of my phone screen while my phone is in silent mode. Sometimes I will put it in silent mode and forget that I put it on that mode and i will miss calls/texts. It's very frustrating and my droid used to have it and i loved that function...am i missing a setting? i am wondering if anyone else would appreciate that option....

Set your phone to vibrate when on silent mode.
you can also set up settings - general - accessibility- LED flas for alerts - ON

  • Messaging, mail and phone sounds in headphones with phone in silent mode

    hi,
I just upgraded to the 3gs from the original iphone and I seem to be confused as to whether I should be getting all the different sound alerts through my headphones when my phone is in silent mode. I thought the original did that. can someone tell me if it's possible to get the sound alerts through the headphones if they're attached and the phone is in silent mode?
    thanks,

both the new iphone and the old one both do the same way
as long as you have the headphones plugged in you will hear it in the headphones
there is no way to "mute" it

  • How can I change the settings such that the phone does not vibrate when I receive a message in silent mode, but vibrates for calls?

I'd like the phone to vibrate when I receive a call when it is in silent mode (as it already does) but I'd like it to not vibrate when I receive a text in silent mode. I know how to set both (calls and texts) to not vibrate in silent mode, or choose no vibration for texts when loud or silent, but not what I just mentioned. Thanks.

Try this - Settings > Sounds > Text Tone > Vibration (at the top) > None.
Edit - just read the last part of your post closer and I'm not aware of such an option.

  • Lollipop 5.1.1, priority vs silent mode and volume status bar symbols

hi all just upgraded to lollipop 5.1.1 (from 5.0.2). Thank you sony devs. Went without a hitch - apps preserved, etc. However, decided to start afresh so wiped internal memory. I've noticed that priority mode is no more (at least it doesn't appear now when you press the hard volume keys - you just get 'normal' volume controls).
"interruptions" are now described in sound and notifications as "silent mode". I've also noticed that the few volume symbols in the status bar seem no more. For example, I'd know with the star symbol that my volume settings were in priority mode i.e. quiet or silent. With the struck through circle, I should be on silent and the phone with the wee vertical bars meant I was in vibrate mode. I can only now get the vibrate mode symbol to appear. Finally, what's the status of alarms? There used to be a note in the interruptions menu about alarms always being treated as priority events. Sorry if this is straight forward.   Regards,
    Gary

@MyAliasIsGary http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Software-Updates/Lollipop-New-Features/m-p/955490#U955490 You are correct, you might want to contact Sony with your feedback. http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/contactUs/ @uliwooly Hi How you doing mate? Thanks for the reply. Worked it out. It hammers the volume keys but basically, you volume down to zero - this takes you to vibrate mode. One more down-press takes you to silent. Here you get your priority controls and the ability to silence alarm too, as necessary. Star and struck-through-circle symbols are active in the status bar, depending on whether you toggle the "allow exceptions" switch. It's annoying that you can't shortcut from the power button menu like you used to but I think it's a lot clearer now, in terms of the layout i.e. these are the permutations you can have in silent mode.   Cheers, Gazza

  • Ios4 introduced sound blips in silent mode

Hi. I have found an ios4 big that I can reproduce. On silent mode I have hears sound blips when switching apps. If i for example load the latest version of flight control and leave it in its main menu. If I then exit using the home button I hear a sound blip noise. Really unprofessional as the phone is in silent mode.
    Can anyone reproduce.

If you put the device in silent mode the idea is for it to be silent. It seems logical to me that this would be the intention i silent or vibrate. It makes sense to me.

  • Third octave operations with "sound and vibration toolkit"

    Hi!
I’m working about third octave decomposition with a vibration signal.
I’m using the sound and vibration toolkit.
The sample frequency of my signal is 2400 Hz.
And I’m working with a 1 second vibration signal (so 2400 points).
    Fs = 2400
    N = 2400
I need to understand the different and successive operations that the “SVT Fractional-octave Analysis [IEC].vi”VI do.
In fact, I think that my frequency resolution (df = Fe/N=1Hz) is too low.
    Do you have a solution?
Maybe I could turn into my 1 sec signal in 10 sec signal with 10 recopies and assemblage of my previous signal?
    N’ = 10N so df = Fe/10N = 0.1Hz.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello,
The first thing you have to do is to read the Chapter 7 of the user manual of the Sound and Vibration Toolset.
You can find it in : program -> National Instruments -> LabVIEW Sound and Vibration Toolset -> User Manual
This chapter discusses fractional-octave analysis, including fractional-octave analysis theory, averaging modes supported by the
Octave Analysis VIs, settling time, and ANSI and IEC standards.
