Vibrations in Macbook Pro are interfering with trackpad!?

I bought a new magsafe today and since I've been using it my trackpad doesnt work. There also is a strong vibration in the place where you rest your hands while typing. I have felt this before multiple times but it never bothered me and i have read lots of posts about this occurance. I believe there are slight electric currents running through my macbook do to improper grounding.
It is new thought that my trackpad doesnt work because of these currents. I cant really move the cursor, it will randomly jump to places, as if something is interfering with my finger... I realized though, that if i rest my left hand on the macbook, i can use the trackpad just fine with my other hand. I guess the current then goes through my hand and doesnt interfere with the trackpad anymore.
I guess i found a shortterm solution but obviously, i need some answer to the problem, has anyone expericenced anything like this before? I really would apppreciate your help.
Thanks a lot

Shut down
Remove battery
Connect mag safe
Boot up
If your trackpad works now your battery may be bloated and you will need a new one.  Mine got fat and pressed up against the trackpad.

  • (URGENT: ANY HELP APPRECIATED!) 15" macbook pro retina display with trackpad having erratic movements (version 10.9.2)

Had this problem 2 days ago since I bought it. At first the trackpad just froze. Now it's having very erratic movements that even closes tabs on browsers etc.
Tried installing EFI update 1.2 and 1.3 but it says "This software is not supported on  your system." (My software version is OS X Mavericks 10.9.2, mid 2012)
I have also tried the quick method of pressing the top corners of the trackpad & it only helps with the clicking but not the movement of the cursor. Apparently using external mouse instead of the trackpad works fine, but most of the time, even the mouse cursor becomes very erratic.
Please, anyone experienced the same thing & managed to solve it?
    Feeling desperate and annoyed.

    Look for possible solutions here:

In addition a thorough cleaning of the trackpad will sometimes restore functionality.

If you want to see what is in a file that is backed up by time machine then you have to restore the entire file. Having said that I have had good experience with Time Machine and individual files... if the file is there then all of it's components are almost for sure there. A way to get around this in Aperture would be to use referenced images. The images then still exist as individual files and can be backed up and restored individually. You would have to do so on a file by file basis though and your album information would still only be saved within the Aperture library.

  • Using Thinkpad Trackpoint USB Keyboard with MacBook Pro, Air, Retina (with pictures)

Using Thinkpad Trackpoint USB Keyboard with MacBook Pro, Air, Retina (with pictures)
The purpose of this discussion thread is to:
    (1) Get community thoughts around using alternative and complimentary mousing approaches with MacBooks
    (2) To share a current and searchable set of resources for those interested in leveraging a best-of-both-worlds approach for using a non-Apple Trackpoint Keyboard with an Apple MacBook.
    (3) To level-set the fact that a Thinkpad Trackpoint USB Keyboard works with MacBooks automatically and instantly out-of-the-box.
Note: I created this discussion because I found that all the other discussion threads related to using a Thinkpad Trackpoint Keyboard with MacBooks were archived and therefore I could not post my thoughts there.
I have been using MacBooks for 3+ years now.  Airs, Pros, Retinas etc.  I LOVE the built-in MacBook Apple Trackpad.  It is wonderful.  Apple has no equal as far as Trackpads go.
In addition, I have been using the Thinkpad Trackpoint USB Keyboard with my MacBooks for ~2 years, and below is why I have found BOTH the Apple Trackpad and Thinkpad Trackpoint to be great.
The Trackpoint and Trackpad both have their sweet spots.  Personally I use the built-in Apple Trackpad on my MacBooks when I'm using my MacBook for less than 1 hour, loosely speaking.  If I am going to be heads-down for more than 1 hr writing, reading, surfing, graphic designing, programming, workshop facilitating, teaching, mindmapping, presenting, demoing, etc. then I pull out my "Lenovo Thinkpad USB Keyboard with Trackpoint (55Y9003) > https://www.google.com/search?&q=lenovo+thinkpad+trackpoint+usb+keyboard
I know many will laugh at me for using a Thinkpad Trackpoint Keyboard with a MacBook...  Keeping an open mind, let's just agree that there is historical precedence for alternative mousing devices.  If I could only choose one, I would use the Apple MacBook built-in Trackpad exclusively, however with alternatives come potential benefits.  Keep in mind that Apple, Microsoft, Logitech and many other companies make millions of dollars each year providing alternative peripheral devices for computers, and mousing is no exception.  Regardless, I just want to share my positive experiences using both. :-)
Why should you care?  For *some* people the following is true and meaningful.  The Trackpoint (the little red eraser head stick thingy) in the midle of the keyboard enables useful and unique dynamics/use-cases, including:
You don't have to take your hand(s) off the keyboard to mouse
You can independantly click without accidentally moving the mouse (Yes I know some people don't have issues with this)
You don't run out of finger-gesture runway when you're moving your mouse across the screen (I know this is a gray area for some people)
For mouse-movement-heavy applications (e.g. Graphics, drawing, etc.) the Trackpoint *is at times* more exacting
Below I share some pictures (which I know *look* ridiculous to some people, but none-the-less help demystify what this looks like.  And, while ridiculous looking, it is actually quite thin and elegant once you get over the initial shock of seeing these two diverse technologies combined in this way.
Rest assured, the keyboard shown below (google "55Y9003") is VERY light, thin and fits in almost any laptop case/backpack easily so it is not a big deal to carry it, if you work on-the-go.  In addition:
It is UNCANNY how well it fits on top of the keyboard space of all MacBooks.
It fits perfectly around the corners of the MacBook Pro/Air/Retina keyboard
Note: I took one of the 5 rubber feet/pads off the bottom of my keyboard, the one in the middle
Lastly, you can actually use the built-in Apple Trackpad at the SAME TIME as the Trackpoint Keyboard.
It is quite a nice best-of-both-worlds approach for people that like the benefits of the "Why should you care?" use cases above.
Please reply and comment with your thoughts and please let's keep it positive, constructive and friendly :-)
    Pictures Below:
My two Retina MBPs, one with and one without the keyboard, so you can easily see the difference.  (As if you wouldn't)
A slightly closer-up shot of just the RMBP with the Trackpoint Keyboard on top
Please reply and comment with your thoughts and please let's keep it positive, constructive and friendly :-)

Newer Bluetooth version of the ThinkPad External Trackpoint Keyboard available...
The new version is smaller, so you can use your MacBook Trackpad at the same time as your Trackpoint keyboard.
    Here is the Lenovo model/Part Number# 0B47190
Here is a picture of what it looks like:
Note: Just like the older larger USB model keyboard, there is a rubbery footpad in the middle of the bottom of the keyboard that I just peeled off.  Otherwise, it makes the "H" key press accidentally under-neath the keyboard.  Once I took that off, it fit perfectly over and around the built-in MacBook keyboard, so I can optionally put it on top of my MacBook for easy typing. :-)

My MacBook Pro 15-inch with NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics processors just failed. Do you guys know if apple still fixes them?

I tried last week. The best I could get was a discount on the repair, but the damage to my logic board by the GPU caused it to no longer boot. The program ended in December last year, but it has been extended in the past.
If you have no other damage you might be able to get a flat rate tier 1 repair if you are in the USA.

  • If my iphone, ipad, MAC and macbook pro are all linked, and then I upgrade only my phone to iOS 7.0, does that have an effect on my calendar, etc.  It doesn't seem to be showing the same data it was before the update.  Lost lot of info from calendar.

If my iphone, ipad, MAC and macbook pro are all linked, and then I upgrade only my ipone to IOS 7.0, does that have an effect on the linking to my other MAC products.  It seems my calendar has lost a lot of information since the upgrade.

If you purchased Lion for your iMac, just log into the Mac App Store from your MacBook using the Apple ID under which you purchased Lion and go to the Purchases page. You will be able to download and install Lion there.
searching the internet i found a link to upgrtade to 10.7
The only place you get get Lion is from the Mac App Store. If you found some other site, that was an illegal copy and almost certainly tied to someone else's Apple ID and hence unusable by you. If the link was just to the Mac App Store, see above.
As to the problem with synchronization to iCloud, that's not a 10.6 question, so I'd suggest you take up that specific issue in either the Lion or iCloud forums, providing full details, and someone there can probably help you sort things out.
    Regards.

  • HT3986 I have installed windows 7 into my macbook pro 15 inch with lions.  This computer is the current 2.2 GH i7 chip with 500 GB HD.  Now, how do I install the drivers.  When I started boot camp, the system prompted me to create a CD.  What do I do with

I have installed Windows 7 into my Macbook Pro 15 inch with Lions as operating system.  (current model with 2.2 GHz i7 processor, 500 GB HD ad 5400 rpm).  When I started with boot camp, the system promped me to create a disc, which I presume is for the drivers for windows 7.  Now windows is intalled.  What do I do with the CD that the system created for me?  Also, why does the system automatically start in Win7 instead of Lion.  I need to pression the option key to have it start in OS X.  I thought it was supposed to be the opposite.

Insert it while you are in Windows, if it does not autostart run setup.exe.
Choose your startup disk using Apple>System Preferences>Startup Disk (in OSX) or Control Panel>Boot Camp>Startup Disk (in Windows)

  • Recently bought a MacBook Pro 13 inch with apple care and since day one has not been able to hold a charge more than an hour. Is this covered? What can and will apple do for me?

So I bought my MacBook Pro 13 inch with AppleCare protection about 2 weeks ago and from the moment it came out of the box I noticed that the battery was draining very quickly. Perhaps in the midst of my excitement of having a new computer I ignored it thinking it could somehow get better but obviously it has not. Average after being fully charged from being dead the batter lasts maybe an hour to an hour and a half. I'm assuming apple will take care of this seeing as it came to me like this but that's exactly my question, will they? Any information about what they cover or how to go about getting this fixed is very much appreciated!

  • The RAW files I just downloaded on new MacBook Pro are designated as JPEG in the photo info box. Why??

The RAW files I just downloaded on new MacBook Pro are designated as JPEG in the photo info box. Why??

How did you download? Have you been using the Import panel?
How is the pop-up selector for the "Raw+Jpeg" set?
If you are importing raw+jpeg pairs, and you set this to (Use Jpeg as original), then you will see a little J on the thumbnail, otherwise a R.
Or did ou import with Jpeg only?

  • Logic 8 on Macbook Pro - fully loaded with 4 Gig rams - how does it run?

Wondering what people's experiences using Logic 8 on a Macbook Pro are. I haven't bought one yet and deciding between the laptop and the Mac Pro tower. I play to only be recording one instrument at a time, primarily guitar and bass. Then using a lot of virtual synths for the other insutrements.
Is a fully loaded Macbook Pro sufficient for several tracks of virtual synths and effects (reverb etc.) for mixing etc?
Any experiences would be very helpful prior to my purchase. I'd love to get the laptop but want to make sure it'll be sufficient for my needs.

Should be fine - I can do much more than that on my 2.0Ghz Macbook with 2G of RAM.
