Vid Card for K9N6PGM2-V2

Hi everybody,
First post here, hoping to get some insight. I have a K9N6PGm2-V2 motherboard and was hoping I could install a video card in it to play a new online game (Mechwarrior Online, been a Battletech fan since the 80's). Here are the system requirements for the game...
MechWarrior Online Minimum System Spec:
CPU:
Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz
Athlon II X2 245e
GPU:
GeForce 8800GT
Radeon HD 5600/5700
RAM:
4 GB
OS:
Windows XP 32-bit SP3
DirectX:
DX9
HDD Space:
4 GB
MechWarrior Online Recommended System Spec:
CPU:
Core i3-2500
AMD Athlon II X4 650
GPU:
GeForce GTX 285
Radeon HD 5830
RAM:
8 GB
OS:
Windows 7 SP-1 64-Bit
DirectX:

I'm pretty sure I have everything covered for at least minimum game requirements (not a techie by any stretch, just enough to be dangerous to myself) except for the ram, which I'll install depending on the answer I get from you good folks.
Is there a video card you would recommend to get me going? I'm not looking to break the bank, $150 is about my limit give or take. Or is my dream to play MWO just that, a dream with this mobo?
Thanks in advance.

>>Posting Guide<<
We need to know more about the equipment you already have in order to make any sort of recommendations.
You have a 16x pcie 1 sot and most of the cards out there are backwards compatible, but allot depends on your psu. (Some people have more trouble with ATI then Geforce for pcie1)

  • Vid card for TV to HD Display yet?????/

    Aloha All,
I am wondering where to find a vid card that allows cable hookup to see tv on my 30" HD display. I am not looking for a unit to record TV. I am looking for a card to fit into the pci express slot and be able to do both computer and TV functions on my 30" display and preferably in HD of course.
Ideally one card with a cable input and DVI out, and or one with a switch to go back and forth.
Does anyone know if anyone has make the like and if so where, ($$$$ not an issue), Maybe I should make one my self. What do you think?

  • K9N2 SLI PLAT 1 vid card for PhysX only make both cards run at 8x?

Hi all. I'm on the fence here as to what to buy. My current setup is (hopefully) displayed
    in my signature.
Here is my concern as copied from the K9N2 Sli Platinum Manual:
"• 1 mazarine PCI Express x16 slot with x16 operation (PCI Express Bus SPEC V2.0 compliant)
    • 1 light-blue PCI Express x16 slot with x8 operation (PCI Express Bus SPEC V2.0 compliant)
    • When 2 PCI Express x16 slots are all installed, the PCIE x 16 lanes will auto arrange form x16/ x0 to x8/ x8. Do not use the light-blue slot when only one PCI Express x16 card is installed."
Is this normal for most SLI mainboards? I was thinking of upgrading in one of two ways:
    1) Just purchase a 9600GT for PhysX only and pop it in the other PCIE 16x slot
                              OR
    2) Go all out and buy another GTX 260 Core216 SC card, new Power Supply, and new PCIE Sound Card
and SLI the 2 cards together.
With option 1, will my GTX 260 get slowed to 8x ?? That may defeat my whole purpose for getting
another vid card and dedicate it for PhysX; would it slow the main card down enough to impact it greatly?
With Option 2, the reason for a new sound card is a second "2 slot" vid card means I'll only be able to use
one of the 2 PCI slots. Currently, I have a Fax Modem and a SB Audigy SE in them.
I use the modem on a regular basis to send/receive faxes, so I will have to replace the sound card.
Anybody know if a Creative Labs SB X-FI Titanium PCIe can fit in the 1x slot between 2 SLI'd Vid cards?
The 1x PCIE slot on this board is between the 2 16x slots, not the ideal spot I fear.
If it won't fit between, my ONLY other choice would be to use the on board sound, which I am
    not fond of doing.
My whole intention here is to play Cryostasis better than it does now, AND hopefully be ready
for any newer games that incorporate PhysX. As it is now, I got Cryostasis free when I bought
my new vid card, nice of eVGA to do that
If I do this, I want it to be pretty future proof:
I don't want to make EITHER investment solely for one game only. I'd prefer to
go with option 2, but I REALLY don't want to find out AFTER I buy everything that
I can't fit the new sound card between the 2 SLI'd cards :(
Any help on this will be GREATLY appreciated,
    thank you.

  • G41M-P34 mobo Vid Card compatability

My VESA 9500 1G just fried ,k so time to Upgrade
    Will the G41M-P34 take any Vid card? IE - PCI = yes ,, PCI-2 =??? ,, PCI-3 = ???
I am Extremely happy with the G41M-p43 and have been running it Since 2005 /6
Maybe Time to Upgrade MoBo to an i7 and pass this one off to the Kid
Any recommends for a 2gig Vid card for the G41M-P34
Recommends for a New i7 + moBo and 3gig or 4g Vid card

G41M-P34 is a totally outdated board using PCI-E Gen 1. As all Gen2 and above AMD cards are causing compatibility issues with old Gen 1 boards you can already forget about any Radeon card. With Nvidia cards chances are better but none the less It might still not work if the outdated bios refuses to work with a current generation vga. Compatibility issues when trying to combine ancient hardware with latest stuff are waiting to happen. To be pretty safe get any used GTX660(ti)/670/680 to upgrade the current machine. Also be aware that the size of the vram does not say anything about the performance of the card.
For a new machine if wanting an i7 and not considering oc get i7-4790 else get i7-4790K.
Good boards would be Z97 GAMING 7, Z97-GD65 GAMING or Z97 MPOWER. Everything below those doesn't offer a backup bios and everything above doesn't really add more useful features.
For a vga R9 280(x) GAMING are very cheap at the moment and can be a good deal, same goes for GeForce GTX 780 GAMING cards. 780 is the by far faster of course. The very latest generation would be the GTX 970.

  • Disabling an intergrated vid card

Ok just purchased a new vid card for my hp pavilion 6600f which is vista 64 bit based.  I need to disable the intergrated vid card but i have no idea ive seen several sites that say shut off the switch on the mother board, otheres say delete the nvidia 7100 drivers...another says to do it from the bios..
i put in the new card, and started the computer and hit f10 and went to the bios part where i can change the vid to pci express.  but i have to say im lost here any suggestions or web sites to what i can do.  Im pretty much a non puter guru so ill need something in steps lol.

If you have changed it to PCI Express and there is no other setting referencing onboard graphics in the BIOS, then you have disabled the onboard graphics. All you need to do is install the latest drivers and software for your new card (from the website of ATI or Nvidia) and you're good to go.

  • P7n, 2-card sli, 3rd card for 2nd monitor

Anyone got 2-card SLI and a 3rd vid card for a 2nd monitor working?
System: p7n, 4GB OCZ Vista gold PC-6400 RAM, Pentium D930 for testing, 2 MSI NX8800GTs, Vista x64 installed, SB Xfi that's included with the MB, one 500gb WD SATA hard drive and an IDE DVD.  I plan to move my RAID card over from my eVGA system in my sig if I can get this working...but I need more than 1 monitor.
    Nothing overclocked!!
I can't get SLI to work with a 3rd video card.  I've tried an eVGA 8400GS...no SLI option in the nVidia ctrl panel, eVGA 8500, no boot, the fans spin for a fraction of a second, and the leds flash and that's it, and an ATi 1800xtx...errors in Vista about incompatible hardware.
With the 8400GS, there's no longer any option for SLI in the nVidia control panel, which there was with only the 2 8800GTs on the previous boot.
I've got a 650W PS with dual PCI-E leads, and the system is currently pulling less than 300W, so this shouldn't be an issue.
I've built hundreds of systems, but this is my first SLI system.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, the MB will occasionlly fail to boot with just the 2 8800gts, I just get the fan spin/led flash.  Bad motherboard?  The only way to get it to boot again is to pull one of the8800gts and restart, sometimes the bios needs to be reset.
    psu specs:
    650w
    +3.3   30a
    +5      54a
    +12v1 20a
    +12v2 20a

Got the solution I was looking for via the forums at nvidia.com from jaafaman
    http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=60345&st=0&p=330530&
The third card works best as an nVidia so it can use the same driver. Right now, I'm using two 8800GTS640s in SLI and a 6200OC as the third, with a 20" WS for the SLI and two 17" WS attached to the third card.
And to date, Vista is the only OS where this is possible!
Start by mounting the cards, installing the one single ForceWare driver and mounting your monitors as above. Make sure your monitors are working in non-SLI mode before setting SLI up.
Open the Device Manager, and under Display Adapters you will see all three cards listed. Right-Click on the third card's entry and choose the "Disable" option. Close the Device Manager and reboot the system.
Once Vista fires back up with the third card disabled, the option to run SLI will show up in the NVIDIA Control Panel. Enable SLI as you normally would, and regardless of whether or not you have to reboot to enter SLI, once SLI is enabled you must reboot at least one time so that Vista starts up with SLI active.
Once SLI is enabled and Vista has been rebooted, you can open the Device Manager again and re-enable the third card.
At that point, you can do whatever you need with the other monitor(s) as you normally would. You can't extend the SLI rendering to the extra screens, but you can still extend the Vista Desktop, etc. and run apps or child windows as you normally would.
To get out of SLI, reverse the process. The key is in having the third card DISABLED while enabling or disabling SLI with a reboot.
A poster named Fredrik finalized this process as an illustrated guide in the SLI Zone and it was "stickied" there for permanent display. Oddly enough, the Guide is labelled Guide: Run Multiple Monitors with SLI, Vista, 3 Nvidia Cards, 2 cards in SLI and one for up to 2 other monitors. As one of the original participants, the title of your own thread is what caught my eye. Thought maybe someone else had discovered this as well...

  • Proper video card for 23 inch Cinema Display?

    Hey everyone...
I recently bought a 23-inch cinema for my G4. Upon the advice of Apple, I purchased a ATI Radeon 9200(128mb) vid card to power it. Since installing the card, I seem to be having memory issues with my system, such as: memory lag with files in Photoshop and burning errors with my cd burner(i.e. buffer underrun errors), both of which I didn't have before. I guess what I'm wondering is, was this video card appropriate for this moniter? And also, what could be causing this ram conflict. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!
    -ian-

To use the FireWire ports on the display you will have to plug the display's FireWire cable into the FireWire 400 port on the MacBook Pro. If your MacBook Pro has a FW 800 port, you could use that for your disk drive with a FW 800 to FW 400 cable, or a FW 800 to FW 400 adapter. You should be able to use the display's FireWire ports for disk drives or cameras, but some brands of cameras don't work well with other devices on the FireWire bus.

  • ATI vid.card trouble shoot guide

    True,
There seem to be some stabilty issues with ATI, all of which can be overcome.
First is the VPU recover option. That option makes it less stable and does nothing beneficial, best turn it off.
Also faste write (bios option), it doesn't enhance performance, only decreases stabalitity.
If it is still unstable, set AGP to 4x. This makes it slighly (less then 1pct. ) slower, but might make it more stable.
Other drivers occasionly might help. For older cards, older drivers are best suitable. E.g. a R9700 runs best on Cat 4.5. Do make sure the driver you use supports the DirectX version that you need !
Last resort is upping the AGP voltage (no more then 0,1v !). If it is still instable, RMA it !
Despite the issues, I still think ATI makes very good vid.cards. My next card wil probably be an ATI again

And I thougt you were my friend
Look here for the performance difference fast write and AGP4x make:
    http://www.pctuning.cz/Default.aspx?CatID=75&LayId=2&ArtId=19189&ChapID=4944
These tests have been done with a 9700PRO the difference will probably be more significant with a faster card.
Furthermore, take into account that a 9600 draws from the 5v line, the 9700, 9800 and X800 draw from the 12v line as well.

  • Vid card issues I think??

Good day, I'm having some major issues with my card "I think"
When playing MOH Pacific Assault, Battlefield Vietnam, and Doom3 my sys locks up and/or I get major video corruption. I have tried updating all of the drivers forward and backward and no luck  . One error that I get says that the Vid card got stuck in a loop. I have gone to the Nvida and EA site and no help. The only thing that I found was that their is a known issue with MOB running with Nforce 3 chips and to uninstall the GART driver "No idea how???" Here is the post on that, some of it doesn't apply (ATI, Punk Buster,
"This combination of hardware has been reported to freeze gameplay, and is due to a combination of these hardware elements. Resolving this issue has become a stalemate between ATI, Nvidia and Evenbalance. Here is some information which may help you address this issue:
Problem does not occur on non-Punkbuster servers.
This problem seems specific to WinXP.
Removal of the Nvidia GART Driver clears this problem up.
Reverting to ATI's 3.9 seems to clear this up for some.
Reducing the AGP aperture size reduces the amount of delay.
Decreasing the PB scan frequency with pb_sleep decreases the frequency of the freezes.
Changing from an ATI to Nvidia card seems to have eliminated problems for many users."
    Any idaes???? Thanks..

    Hi,
I wouldn't remove the GART driver.  I have a NF3/6800 Ultra OC setup and I disabled fastwrites in my system bios to resolve loops and freezes.  The combo works wonders now!
    Good Luck,
You want to try the easiest solutions first and turning off fast writes would be a good place to start as suggested. If it is not implemented properly it can cause instability.
There are also a few other settings that should be in there you can try messing with such as AGP Aperture, 4X or 8X...etc.
I also would use 3DMark 2001 as a stability test. It pretty much runs with every video card and drivers out there. Using a game might not be a good idea because a lot of games have problems with certain drivers or certain cards. At least if it passed 3DMark you would have some idea its not the drivers, card or even gart.
If it doesn't pass 3DMark then I would start looking at your motherboard drivers (GART). The chance of 3DMark not working with any version of Nvidia drivers is very slim unless they are corrupted.
To uninstall the GART you would go into device manager and right click it and uninstall. Windows will restart and try to install drivers on it's own. You can cancel it by clicking on the icon in the system tray if your quick enough. (WinXP)
Another way to do it, is just updating the drivers by again going into device manager, right clicking and this time picking update drivers.
You should have the drivers you want to use on the computer somewhere like maybe the desktop.
Another thing you can try is reinstaling DirectX, that is one of those easy things that doesn't hurt anything to try. Also make sure your video card is not overheating in the case. Open the case and have a house fan blowing on it while you try 3DMark or playing a game.
One last thing when you look in device manager the GART might not be listed as GART, at least on my NF7-S it is not listed that way. The GART would be anything related to AGP under "System Devices"

Can we use more than 1 credit card for icloud family Sharing?
We are grown up, with our own credit cards, own incomes, and own financial.
But we would like to share apps, music, photos, books, vidéos etc.. like any other family.
No one (even the parents) wants to pay for everyone's purchase.
Other question: will it cancel all payment informations from family members account?

not sure about pre-paid cards, but I know you can use 2 different credit cards though, I chatted with an apple rep last night, and she told me I can use 2 credit cards to buy something I wanted on the apple store website, so I acted as if I was buying a macbook air, went to checkout, and there was in fact the option of using 2 cards, which I thought was crazy since so many people have said that you can not use 2 cards. I'm glad I asked a rep

  • Help! Need a quick answer about motherboard + vid card

    Hi everyone,
Okay I am pretty scared right now. I got a new vid card, the MSI n9008gt. I also got a 6pin PCI connector for my power supply to power the card. I have a 450watt power supply. And my motherboard is a GeForce7050M.
I put my card in, I attached the power supply to the card, and then plugged it in and pushed the power button.
I hear my motherboard fan, my HD, and the vid card fan. But no display, and nothing else... I think to myself, hmmm. So I unplug my card and take it out and use the intergrated card, and the fan starts up and my HD starts up, but still nothing happens. The motherboard doesn't even beep... Did I fry my motherboard....?  :( This is what I fear the most.
(and no I'm not on that PC right now this is an older one.)

  • Vid Card Recommendations

I'm ready to purchase a vid card.
    Thanks for your help.

TDs/ TDRs/ VTDs/ VTDRs/ are the model of the card representing different make that they are for... TDs are the standard version without Video Decoder.
Since you said that framerates isn't a concern, the FX5200 Ultra for $115 USD isn't a bad choice, but like what I said, you can save around $20 USD for the normal non-Ultras, but I'm not indicating that the ultra isn't a good choice.
Anyway, the $$$ comes out from your pocket and I'm just giving a feedback on price vs performance for the cards.
P.S> The Ultras are still capable of coping games with normal fps, if you would want to start gaming in the future, the Ultra will be good. But I did not recommend it as you said that you aren't concern about fps...

ive read some posts that mentioned this but i have never had it happen in my own system.  but now for some random reason i checked my clock freq and it now shows

i had just been leaving it at stock 350/1000
WHAT IS O/CING MY VID CARD???
    im running 61.77

Yes these were my posts.I discovered my Radeon 9800 Pro was being o/ced and producing artifacts when using i think bios 1.2 beta. The same happened with 1.3 beta and switching the option NV/ATI acceleration to disabled didn't help. Now i'm using 1.48B and the problem seems to have gone away.
Try flashing to this bios and see if the problems go away. Then post your results.

  • Colors All Messed Up, SERIOUS vid card/driver problem

ok, so i'm just surfing the net tonight in firefox, nothing unusual, no other programs on except coreduotemp, which is reading at a steady 65-70 and all of a sudden, the colors on the screen went haywire. i could see the shapes, move the cursor around and read lettering, but the colors looked like 1 bit colors, like 10 total colors with no gradations and very very washed out!
what the heck could be going on with my machine?
so i tried to restart... same thing. everything would look normal until one second after mac os booted up, it'd revert to the weird willy wonka coloring. so i tried a complete shutdown and waited 30 minutes to see if it was a heat issue. same thing.
then i tried booting to windows xp... it worked perfectly! the irony of it all.
booted back into mac os. willy wonka again. so i went to systems preferences and tried to change resolution. still messed up. so i changed colors from "millions of colors" to "thousands". still messed up. but when i changed it to "256 colors" it looked almost normal again. no more willy wonka colors but now looks terrible, like i'm working on an old commadore 64.
so i'm just going to take it back in tomorrow to the apple store and demand a new computer. i'm just curious to see if anyone else have had this issue or what the heck could be going on.
    MacBook 1.83GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

well, i just changed the RAM back to the stock 2x256 sticks. still the same problem.
i've been trying to figure out if macs have an "update video driver" function like windows does. i even went to intel's site to see if i could download a new driver for macs, but no luck. (this is my first mac so i'm not familiar with how mac vid cards update their drivers).
also did a system update, didn't change anything.
ack, i'm so used to fixing my computer problems myself, this is really frustrating about mac so far...
