Video 720x480 not in full videospace of 720x480 Project workspace

I ripped my file to a AVI 720x480. Then when I drop it into my project space which is 720x480 and view it in Priemere 2.0 it doesn't display in the whole screen. It has a Black box around the video. The titling and after effects files display just fine in the video space. Only the video. I recorded it with a minidv NTSC camera in 16:9 format. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Video out not using full widescreen on a 23.5" monitor

I have an Asus 23.5" LCD which I use for TV and my Xbox. Both use the widescreen how it should. But when I plug my Macbook into it, I get 2" bars on the left and right. However, if I uncheck "mirror display," my desktop background fills the entire screen. I mean, the second desktop, or the extended desktop uses the full widescreen format.

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
in 'Mirror Mode' both the internal and the external display use the same resolution, which with the MacBook is 1280 x 800.
Only in 'Extended Mode' the internal and the external can use different resolutions.
You might wanna check if the Asus LCD has an option to 'remove' the black borders, when using a resolution that is not the native (full) resolution of it.
If this is possible, you might experience however a less sharper image on the Asus since it is not using its native resolution.
    Regards

  • Trailers not in full box

I'm having problem while viewing trailers. When trailer pop-up window pops the video is not in full available black box, it's in about 2/3 box in upper-left corner (see attached picture [http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/259/imdbvideounderff.png Trailer size] )
I'm on win 7, firefox 9.0.1 and have Flash 11.1.1 installed.

    Hi Asterix040-
That is very interesting! Does this happen on other browsers for the same video? I found this article on video, I would be curious if it helped make the video expand to full size:

    Many thanks.
With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
(If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.)

  • Videos not displaying full screen

I downloaded SD videos from Itunes on my Ipad2 and they will not load full screen. Their is no option to touch to make go full screen or turning the device sideways does not move the movie either. How do I get the movie to play full screen?

    Hi,
Are you playing videos ? Some videos may have black bands around. Now using this to test:
      http://www.whatismyscreenresolution.com/
Just clik the link, what is the result ? Is it similar to this ? (If can't click, copy it then paste to browser URL/address space).

  • Has anyone else had a problem with the audio not keeping up with the video when switching to full screen on YouTube?

Hi. I have a OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.1 Mac Book Air, Processor 1.86 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.
Has anyone else had a problem with the audio not keeping up with the video when switching to full screen on YouTube?
The video starts out fine, but if I click on the expand icon in the lower right corner of the screen the audio won't keep up.
Refreshing the page don't help at all. In fact, nothing seems to help once it starts.
I did not have this problem at all using Mavericks. The problem started after installing Yosemite.
    Any way to fix it?

only $99, i thought it was closer to $175.

  • Audio and Video are not synced up ONLY when viewed in full screen....?

Audio and Video are not synced up only when I view my project in full screen. I can watch it in the project viewer the audio and video play as they should. I have a presentation tomorrow and I can't figure this out. What am I doing wrong?

Have you updated to version 9.0.2 - this Software Update was released a couple of days ago and fixes audio sync problems as well as improving stability in iMovie '11.

  • Importing from DVD not showing full video

I'm trying to import a video (VOB file) from a DVD, but the full frame of the video is not showing. The frame size that is importing seems to be importing as a different frame size than the video is and I can't seem to change it. The import seems to be cropping it. If I adjust the size in the Program Sequence window, it is showing the cropped version of the video.
Can any of the other files on the DVD be imported such as the IFO file?

... What other formats can iMovie & iDVD use? What do you recommend? ...just dv. and for stills jpeg, tifff.. and for music aiff, mp3... but that was not your question any other video-codec gets converted/has to be converted...
... which are apparently very, very big - one half-hour folder was 6 GB...rule: 1h video = ~13Gb... that is the amount of data on tape... iM uses a digital copy of that. many other codecs do a much better compression, BUT lossy!
... many times bigger than it needs to be...no, a video-DVD is meant for playback only...the compression codec just stores the delta(=difference) from frame to frame... for edit purposes, you need the info of EVERY frame on tape...
... How should I adjust the settings if I want to get an hour's worth of video & audio on a standard 4.7 GB blank DVD-R?
...you don't do settings using iDVD. this app needs a dv stream to work in the highest possible quality. use the export to iDVD feature of iM.
in case, you spend a few k$, you can buy DVDSP, including a tool called Compressor... after learning a few years to handle it, you can result smaller files with higher quality.....

  • Can not stream full hd videos from iPhoto macbook library

    Hello,
for some reason I can not stream full hd videos from my macbook iphoto libary to apple tv3! It streams 720p videos but full hd videos taken by my camcorder are unable to watch on my apple tv, if I want to stream it directly from iphoto on my macbook.
Any ideas what the problem could be?
Thank you and greetz from the Black Forrest / Germany

Hi. My camera is a Canon 600D. And yes my videos are stored in the Aperture library and they are not referenced. Even then I tried to select all the videos in Aperture and clicked 'consolidate masters' and there was a messge that said all 'none of the files are referenced',... so they didn't need consolidating.
I also tried preferences> export> external video editor > choose > iMovie. And then right click on the video to edit with imovie. Even then the video didn't show up in iMovie. It seems like the only option for me is to import the videos directly to iMovie which means there will be two versions of the same file stored in my computer eating up space.

  • Exported Video Does Not Look Right

I am sure this is a basic setting I am overlooking, but a lot of this is new to me - any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
My goal is to create a high quality 640x480 movie for Computer/Web viewing only.
    • I shot a short video using a Canon Vixia HV30 to mini DV tape using the SD standard - no problem. I guess that records at 720x480 non-square pixels at 29.97fps - is that right?
    • I used log and capture inside of FCP v6.0.5 to capture the various clips I needed - no problem (I don't think). If I open each of those clips from the finder in Quicktime they look "pretty" good, but a bit of aliasing on the diagonals and somewhat blurry, but not sure why? Everything looks sharp on the smaller camera LCD screen? and looks pretty good inside of FCP on the Canvas? If I open one of these captures directly inside of Quicktime and do a get info, it says...
    DV 720x480 (640x480)
    FPS: 29.95
    Normal Size: 640x480 pixels
    Current Size: 640x480 pixels (Actual)
All these Quicktime movies appear slightly larger in height and width than the same clips when viewed in the FCP Canvas?
If I open the Sequence Settings in FCP it says...
    Frame Size 720 x 480 NTSC DV (3:2)
    Pixel Aspect Ratio NTSC - CCIR 601 /DV (720x480)
    Field Dominance: None
    Editing Timebase: 29.97
Everything looked pretty good inside FCP so I Exported a QT Movie using "Current Settings". Then opened the resulting self-contained movie in QT and it looks pretty bad. When I get info in QT on the rendered final movie it reads...
    DV 720x480 (640x480)
    FPS: 29.97
    Normal Size: 720x480 pixels
    Current Size: 640x480 pixels (Actual)
So... the FPS and the Normal Size are not the same as the captured original clips.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
Is this just the wrong Sequence Settings, Export Settings or do I have to start over an re-capture all my footage some other way?
PS - I am assuming that the DV Camcorder is recording interlaced (60 fields) rather than progressive - is that right. Do I need to de-interlace the video somehow?

I'm far from being an expert, but since no one has replied to you yet, and because I've been helped out here plenty of times, I'll post something and who knows -- it may be the answer.
Your post was really long but from what I can gather, you're wondering why your exported video does not look good when you open it in QuickTime. Try this: Open the video in QT, hit command-J, then click on Video Track, then at the bottom right (under Visual Settings) you'll see High Quality, Single Field, and Deinterlace. Click around on those to see if that improves what you see.

  • Importing 1080 clips into a standard 720x480 project.

I'm working on a standard 720x480 project. I have a few 1080 clips I would like to convert to use in this project. I can import the HD clips OK. I just want to crop the HD clip to the same 4:3 shape as the rest of the project. The problem I'm having is that the HD clips insist on staying in widescreen format. I can change the size but I can't get the standard 4:3 window to crop into, only the widescreen shape. Resizing the HD clip changes the size but the shape remains widescreen format. It seems like this should be easy. Anybody know how to do this?
    Final Cut Express 4.0.1

Yes, that works OK, although I will probably not be cropping the clips all the same. I hoping to take advantage of the higher resolution of the HD clip to be able to crop the different clips differently to best use the image area.
I was hoping to resize the clips BEFORE placing in the timeline. It seems to me that when I place an HD clip into a standard 4:3 timeline it is converted into regular definition, but in widescreen format with black bars top and bottom. Then when I crop to fill the frame and eliminate the black bars it doesn't look as good as the regular video in rest of the sequence. (Much the same as if I blew up a standard clip by resizing - it doesn't look as clear as the un-cropped version).
Is there some way I can work in a different project to crop them in HD and export them as QT movies in the lower resolution format?
Is there a way to export a final HD project directly into a cropped 4:3 standard definition QT movie? I can export a widescreen low def version OK but it will be shown in standard 4:3 so it looks much smaller with the black bars top and bottom. These are all different ways of getting to the same place.

  • SAFE AREA - video is not all inside the SAFE AREA...can I manually do something

I discovers a video I am linking to from the menu extends outside the SAFE AREA...and when I play it on a TV it shows it is outside! :-(
The original .mov file is 1320x933. Is there a easy way to scrunch it into the SAFE AREA?
Same for my slide/photos. Can I automatically get them to do their thing INSIDE the SAFE AREA?
    Thanks, -bill

First, 1320x933 px is nowhere near DVD-legal frame size for video, which for NTSC is 720x480 px, and for PAL is 720x576 px.
Second, there's no way to "scrunch" video into the safe area in Encore. Safe area is what you keep in mind when you are actually shooting video...you frame to the safe area. Safe area markers are provided in Encore for setting up subtitles, and for designing your menus, so that these elements fit into the safe area.
That said, if you want to scale your video so that it fits into the safe area, you can do that in Premiere, and then re-export the video. Note, however, that on computer screens and widescreen TVs, your scaled video will show the entire frame, and outside of the safe area will display black.

  • DVI to Video Adapter Not Working...

    Hi,
I bought this thingy to view video from my Dual 2 Ghz PowerPC G5 on a Panasonic HDTV, using one of its s-video inputs. The video is blank when I switch to that input. I tried using the "Detect Displays" in the Displays preference panel. I do get a picture, but it's heavily distorted no matter what resolution I've tried - it's treated as a VGA display. Composite output from the adapter does not work at all.
The video card is a NVIDIA GeForce 6600LE (came with the computer - two DVI outputs). Apple claims this adapter works on Power Mac G5 with DVI port, but I don't think it does. I also tried hooking it up to a VCR as Apple claims you can do, but no luck there either.
Any advice or alternatives outside of Apple TV appreciated.

Thanks for the technical information. That was very helpful. I took the adapter to my local Apple Store (even tho I didn 't buy it there) and asked them to test it, but they couldn't get to for a couple of hours. But, they gladly gave me a new one to try at no charge.
As before, I plugged it into port 2 of the graphics card with an s-video cable to the tv. No success - except the picture was completely blank on the TV instead of distorted like before. Port 1 was occupied with a VGA monitor. I shut down the computer, TV, and unplugged both ports. I then moved the adapter from port 2 to port 1 and left port 2 open, meaning the VGA monitor wasn't connected to the graphics card at all.
I turned the TV back on and restarted the computer. Lo and behold - after the booting process was done, my desktop appeared on the TV. I shut down the computer again and reconnected the VGA monitor. Ta-dah! - I now have dual monitors.
As a further test, I hooked up the s-video from the adapter to my DVD recorder and recorded the video output from a full screen QT video to its built-in hard drive. That was successful as well. The only problem is that there is a minimal black border around the video since I was not able to pick a resolution for the TV that fills the entire screen. I may need to play with TV's aspect settings to get rid of the border, or crop it out later.
All that's left is to capture the audio and sync it with the video, then output to my format of choice. There's my fair use copy. The quality of the video won't be as good as the original, but what the heck - I'm the only one using it anyway.
Apple should find a way to convince TV and movie studios to sell their stuff on iTunes Store without DRM, at a higher price - like EMI is doing with their music. I would gladly pay the difference just so I could convert and burn my videos to DVD with iDVD or DVD Studio Pro.

  • Want Keynotes' presenter's display to be NOT in full screen

    Hello,
I do live music shows on a Single MacBook Pro. Retina Display, Running 10.10.1
In my show I run Keynote for visuals (always on a secondary large TV via HDMI out) and I run Audio via MainStage from the Logic Suite.
I want to be able to exit work in MainStage, (switching songs, changing volumes etc.)  WITHOUT interrupting Keynotes Video display or pictures, text, videos etc.
    How can I do this.
The only way to play a slide show is to play it, and when it plays it automatically turns the presenter's display to full scree, thereby locking me out of access to MainStage, or any other software.
Any way to play a Keynote slide show NOT in full screen for the presenter's display????
    please help.

When Keynote is in play, no other applications will be seen as Keynote takes over complete control of the graphics system, if you switch from Keynote to another application, Keynote will be hidden. Keynote has always worked this way.
We use two Macs to be able to display Keynote and a second  application.
