Video and Audio to "snap-to" other video and audio

My problem is simple, but annoying. I used to be able to drag video and audio and when it would come close to contact with other video and audio, it would automatically "snap" to the end of the video and audio.
Now, the video and audio does not "snap" and this causes me to loose time editing. How do I fix this?

Studio X: Doh!, you beat me, with your maximally cryptic reply!

  • Snap to other elements

    Hi,
Since I use CS5, I used to have a kind of snap with other element.
Hard to explain, but here is an example.
Let say I draw a first box on the right of the artboard.
Then I draw a second box at the opposite side of the artboard (not touching each other). It used to snap when I was in line with a corner of the other shape.
When moving a shape, it would snap with all other shape on the artboard.
I had probably canceled that option without noticed and now I try to find back this feature without success.
I looked in Preferences and view Menu but have not found anything.
Does anyone understand what I'm looking for and know what to do?
    thanks

    Hi,
I thought at first it was Smart Guides, but it is not that. Did not bring the "snap" I looking for.
Thanks for taking time to answer!

  • How to reset the feature that allows audio and video tracks to snap to other tracks on timeline

I have somehow disabled the feature that allows you to drag and snap video and audio tracks on the timeline to other tracks or positions of import.  It is only one project that has been affected, and all I can think of is that while performing some other keyboard shortcut, I accidentally perfromed a shortcut that diabled this feature.

You mean, "Snap?" Press 'S' on the keyboard, or press the magnet button in the Timeline panel.

  • Can I snap path point to other path point like Illustrator?

Hello. I am using AE cs6 win version.
Now I am trying to make precise  square shape using pen tool.
And I have a question. Can I snap path point to other path point in AE like Illustrator?
Or Can I align them like Illustrator's align tool?
I use grid snap to make a precise shape, but If I can snap to other path point, it will be much easier to make shapes and to make animation.Do you know how? Or if it's impossible, how to make precise  shapes using pen tool? Using photoshop or Illustrator is the answer?Thank you in advance.

Are you talking about shape layers or mask shape?  If you're just making masks, use the rectangle tool or another shape tool to draw the mask and then click shape next to mask path to open the mask shape window.  Then put in your exact pixel values:

    Hi there
There are several options for configuring how Captivate records. It might be helpful for us to assist in troubleshooting if you were to record the process of what you to before recording. You could use Jing for that.

For either importing images or adding text, there's a magnet icon with a checkmark in the options box; tap it to disable snapping.

  • FLV Sync - Audio Premature

    Greetings,
I have tried a multitude of compression settings,
including those that work fantastic with WMV,
yet my high quality FLVs are still out of sync by about 4
    frames.
It appears that the audio is fractionally faster than the
    video.
Many people wouldn't even notice, but it is not acceptable
to showcase video product. Lip syncing is an issue.
I am using FLV Exporter 1.2 out of Final Cut Pro.
I am viewing the Progressive FLVs in both a local SWF and a
SWF on the web. Both cases have the same results.
The movie times range from 30 sec to 1.5 minute.
I did notice an improvement during troubleshooting when
I moved from 14.98 fps to the source 29.97 fps.
    Here are my current settings:
    700 kbps (did try 384 and 400)
    Better compression (did try faster)
    30 fps (did try 60 and 120)
64 kpbs audio (did try 96)
    Interlace None (did try Upper)
Is this a product flaw?? Do I have to purchase
    Sorensen Squeeze 4.3 instead???
    Please advise.
    Regards,
    Toe Cutter

the Hotkey 'S' enables and disables 'snap' to other clips and marks in the timeline.
Also in the Audio Track Mixer, Program Monitor, Source Monitor, or Timeline panel, choose Show Audio Time Units from the panel menu.
This gives you more precise sliding than frames.
    ...hope this helps.

  • Can I increase max resolution or turn off snap to grid?

I was wondering if someone could help me with an audio editing problem/question. I'm trying to cut audio at 0 on the waveform and I'm not able to cut exactly where I want to. I've zoomed in all the way and pressed control.shift, which, I guess, incresses the resolution to the maximum (ticks). I find that the cut line is still moving in rather large jumps and I'm not able to cut where I would like (at 0 on the waveform). Is there a way to turn off the snap and increase the resolution even more?

try holding only ctrl instead of ctrl-shift,which doesn't do anything in arrange if i remember well(use that in the matrix)
on the top right of the arrange you can choose the snap setting

  • Audio export sounds like its in a tin cup

I have exported my project multiple times with different settings but each results in sounding like its in a tin cup, or sounds like its from  a cheap cell phone.  I imported the audio into audition and exported it to my desktop and it sounded fine but if I use premire it ruins the audio.  It just started doing this in the past few days and I haven't changed anything that I am aware of. Please any help would be great as this is for my employment!

The audio like you mentioned "sounds like it's from a cheap cell phone" only happens when you cut out the top end and low end frequencies, which clearly looks like a work of an EQ (or any other similar) plugin. Are you sure you heard the exported audio on your desktop and it sounded normal? If yes, then make sure the audio track in premiere doesn't have any effects on it. Also make sure your audio jack's inserted properly. Also listen to something else and see how that sounds just to make sure your speakers/headphones didn't snap.

  • Mail freezes and shows empty mailbox a while after installing ML

    Hi there.
I'm having massive issues with Mail since I upgraded my Macbook Pro from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion (and updated it to 10.8.1).
I've been searching through the support, the web for hours but nothing matches my issues specifically. Sorry if I write a long message but I will be as accurate as possible.
Mail was working fine at first for a week after upgrading to ML, then yesterday, while checking my emails, one of my accounts (Gmail set up as an exchange) couldn't connect, and had the small thunder icon by its side. I checked the password and settings, everything was fine. De-activated the account then reactivated it, still impossible to connect. And when I went again in the Mail preferences... the spinning rainbow came. For a long time.
    I had to force quit.
    Here started the real trouble.
I restarted the laptop, and relaunched Mail. The mailboxes appear on the left and the messages are listed with a preview, but the right panel says "No message selected". Everytime I click on an email it hangs for a while then shows it, but if I click on another mailbox or even choose a subfolder of the same mailbox, the right panel goes back to "No message selected" and stays like this, even if I click on a message.
In other words, I can't browse my mailboxes anymore.
Sometimes it shows the new email download bar in the bottom left hand corner, but the new emails never show up. Every mailbox seems empty.
Opening the preferences brings the spinning rainbow until I lose patience and force quit.
Clicking on the check emails button does not react.
Typing a new email also makes it spin forever.
The "flagged emails" category says there are 12 emails in it but remains empty when I click it.
I tried to be patient, and after a LOOOOONG while (15 minutes), 2 out of 4 mailboxes show the recent emails, but 2 of them (a google exchange and a google IMAP) keep freezing and don't show anything, as well as the flagged emails category.
I've tried various things found over the web (deleting com.apple.mail.plist, deleting Enveloppe Index). Nothing helped.
The weirdest thing is that is worked fine so far after upgrading and it started freezing out of nowhere, not after a software update or even after downloading new emails.
Last precision, ML was a full install on a brand new hard drive, then Migration assistant brought everything from my former, snow leopard internal hard drive.
    Everything was migrated successfully.
How can I fix Mail and... check and write emails again ?
Thanks in advance guys, I'm lost.

...to continue: I've deleted the Mail folder from the Library and the 'com.apple.Mail' folder from the Containers folder in the Libtrary; created a new account from scratch and guess what? Still happens. As soon as I select accounts in the preferences the spinning ball kicks in. Can't find what is corrupted anywhere. As I create a new account (I've tried different email accounts), I've trawled the Mac looking for what's new or updated. Nothing seems relevent. Gah!
Please somone, know something helpful and pass it on.
    Cheers,
    SNaP.

  • Snap to Point problems

    Illustrator CS6:
I feel a bit of a fraud even asking this, as it seems so basic – but I am having trouble "snapping" one object to another.
I can get objects to snap to ruler guides fine, but not other objects.
    Can anyone help?

There are three snapping options in the View menu: Smart Guides, Snap to Grid, and Snap to Point.
When the Smart Guides are on with the default options in the preferences, you can snap align the bounding box of the object being dragged to the bounding boxes of other objects by dragging the object from any point on its fill or path.  Smart Guides will show the alignment lines and also intersection lines when two sides of the bounding boxes of the dragged and target objects coincide and also when the center points coincide.
If you hold the Ctrl key down while dragging, the Smart Guides will also snap the point under the cursor which doesn't have to be an anchor point but any point on the object's fill or path to a path or anchor point of another object and will display a label indicating if it is the anchor point or path being snapped to. If you are not dragging a whole object but  segment/s you don't have to hold the Ctrl key - it will snap to paths and points.
Wen Snap to Grid is on, the Smart Guides if on are automatically turned off. When dragging whole objects, Snap to Grid snaps first straight lines if any to the nearest line on the gird and if there are no straight lines it snaps the nearest point of the object to the nearest point on the grid. There is no visual feedback with labels or cursor changes for eventual snapping because it always snaps to the nearest intersection of the grid.
Snap to Point can be on when one of the previous two options is on. It will snap the point under the cursor which like the Smart Guides could be also any point on the object's fill, to the anchor points of other objects and it will indicate this by changing the cursor to white.
Snap to Point compliments the Smart Guides by making the cursor white when snapping to a point and you don't have to hold Ctrl when dragging whole objects to snap to a point.
With Snap to Grid on, Snap to Point has a priority and the point under the cursor will snap to a point of another object instead to the grid.
Also have in mind that another level of snapping is added by using Snap to Pixel Grid feature available when creating a new document and from the Transform panel. It deals with anti-aliasing, it is object based, and will have a priority over all of the other snapping options

  • Illustrator CC 18.0.0 Snapping/Smart Guides STILL Broken?!

I know this issue has had some coverage but I'm still extremely frustrated that with all the new features in AI, snapping to guides, anchors, lines, or whatever, is still not precise. I just don't understand why they can't seem to get this right. What is the point of snapping if it's always going to be off by a few thousandths of a pixel? Working with what is supposed to be the world's best illustration application, I still have to make adjustments with the transform panel. Isn't it about time they fix this issue, or am I the crazy one?

I gave a couple of examples but I'll go ahead and repeat it:
Say you have 2 points that aren't joined and you want to join them. So, you grab an anchor, drag it over (holding 'ctrl' so it snaps to other anchors) and as you get close it snaps and says 'anchor', then you select both points with a fence, then join them. Now deselect then select the new point and drag it. At least 25% of the time, it doesn't join two points, it averages them, creating a third point. This is especially frustrating when joining paths that have curves, and that mask or reveal other objects. I do a lot of designs that must be pixel-precise and that is a lot more work than it should be in AI.
I have used several other vector programs and none of them have this weird, inconsistent behavior.
Here's another example: Create a rectangle 100x100. Then drag a guide to one side, then the other. The guides should be exactly 100px apart, right? Maybe. Delete the rectangle and draw a line between the two guides. Chances are they are no longer 100px apart. They are 99.003 or 101.003 or something, making AI the worst tool ever for doing website mockups. It's actually less trouble for me to bang out CSS in Brackets and do mockups that way... but not because Brackets is meant for that, but because AI sucks for it, and that's idiotic.
I am seriously considering ending my CC subscription and going with a combo of open source apps. I mean, if I'm going to struggle with something, I'd prefer for that effort to go to learning something new, not fighting the same fight over and over, for years and years, on something that should be easily fixed.

  • Is there a keyboard shortcut to keep a clip in sync as you move it vertically to other tracks?

I noticed that if you take a clip and hold down the shift key after starting to move it, there is an interesting behavior which forces the clip to be stuck to that track; in other words, you can only move it horizontally to other parts of the same track, but not vertically. So, it would make sense to me, that there should be some modifier keyboard shortcut that would allow me to do the opposite: move a clip up and down the timeline vertically to other tracks, while maintaining sync, not allowing it to move horizontally. In fact, that seems to make more sense than the shift-key trick anyway... Does anyone know if this exists? Thanks!

    Hi Kevin,
Thank you but I am aware of snapping. The issue is, it works relatively well, but not perfectly always. If your playhead is nearby it may try to snap the clip to that; it may also try to snap to other clips above or below; and lastly if you move the mouse a little bit too much too quickly, you might shift it away from the 'snapping' just enough to throw it out of sync. To put it simply, I find it's not strict enough.
Also, I know of the keystroke to move up and down. But it's not helpful when you have to make bigger moves across the timeline.
Perhaps it would be make more sense if I told you what I'm up to: on this particular project we have concert footage from tons of cameras all synced together. Sometimes for reasons I won't try to explain, I have to move a clip up or down by 10-20 tracks. So the keyboard shortcut isn't helpful only because of the distance I have to travel with the clip. So basically I was hoping for something that I could press down that, unlike snapping, would be strict and absolute in its behavior, just like the shift-key forces the clip to not move to other tracks. In order to work fast, it would just make it easier rather than having to worry about looking at the little yellow timecode pop-up to see if I'm staying in sync or if it's accidentally snapping to the playhead and shifting it by 4 frames, for example.
No huge deal, it would just be nice for larger timelines and I don't really understand the use of the shift-key forcing a clip to remain on the same track, seems like what I'm trying to do would be a little more common, I would think...
    Thank you!

  • How do I get the brush to stop snapping to the edges?

    I use Photoshop 7.0.
Whenever I'm working on a sketch using the brush tool, sometimes my work will go all the way to the very edges. Then, the brush will just automatically snap to the edge where I don't want it to go. This is especially annoying when I'm making some kind of curve very close to the edge, but dont want it touching it.
    This is what happens:
How to I get this to stop happening?

One way is to hold down the Ctrl key when you get near the edges.
Another way is to go to the View menu and uncheck Snap.

  • Snap to Grid problem in Illustrator CS4

I found a weird problem with the "snap to grid" feature in Illustrator CS4 running on MAC OS X Snow Leopard.
To reproduce it, on my system, it is enough to:
    1. Make sure to have the Snap To Grid enabled (View->Snap to grid)
    2. Draw a rectangle (see BEGIN.JPG)
    3. Select the Direct Selection Tool
    4. Try to increase the width of the rectangle, by dragging one side of the shape (not a single point, but the whole side in a move).
    5. On my system, I see that Illustrator behaves in a wrong way; it is like Illustrator is snapping to a not aligned grid, and the rectangle begins to be distorted (see END.JPG).
If I try to move a on point at a time, instead of moving one complete side, everything seems to works fine.

Win Vista 64-bit AI CS4.  Can't seem to reproduce your issue.  I drag on the right side of a rectangle with grid snap on and show grid and it snaps exactly to the grid, not anywhere in between even if I start with a rectangle that was created "not-on-grid".  When it snaps it snaps to distances equal to the grid spacing, though it won't snap to the grid itself.  It's as if it snaps to its own internal grid.  I guess that's a problem in and of itself since once you have grid snapping turned on no matter where the original rectangle was you would like it to snap to the grid lines.
EDIT:  Now I see how you created the problem--with direct selection (white arrow) as opposed to full selection with bounding box (black arrow).  Black arrow selection snaps to its internal grid while white arrow snaps to rhombus-like snapping.  I guess it's designed to be used with individual points and not with edges.  (AI doesn't have edge-snapping).
