    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • HT1454 my i Tunes videos will not sync to my 5th gen.ipod

I would like to know why I can't see any iTunes music videos or podcast videoes on my 5th generation i Pod.
The message on the iPod says 'tv out enabled-please connect video accessory'. I do not want to watch the video on my tv but rather on the iPod when I am away from the tv. Surely that is the point of downloading videos to the iPod.

Oh, since you got that 'tv out enabled-please connect video accessory' message on the iPod's screen, I thought it must have at least one video.  The Settings choice will not be there on that screen, unless you have at least one video on the iPod.
BTW, when does that message come up?  I have the same iPod nano, and it only came up when I tried to play a video, with the TV Out setting turned ON.  If there are no videos on the iPod to play, how did it come up in your case?
If the problem is not being able sync videos to the iPod nano from iTunes, do you get an error message (from iTunes on the Mac) when you try to sync?
Our iPod nano model can only play videos (in supported formats) that are up to 640x480 resolution.  If the videos you re trying to sync are "HD" (720p or 1080p), they are beyond the supported resolution.  iTunes should give you an error message when you try to sync.
Standard Def (SD) videos should work.  Podcasters often provide downloads in both HD and SD formats.  For unprotected video content (such as podcasts and iTunes U) you can also use the Create iPod or iPhone Version command under the Advanced menu in iTunes.  "Commercial" video content from the iTunes Store are also usually available in both HD and SD formats.  If you bought the HD version, I think you can download the SD version at no additional cost.

  • Syncing photos from windows to 5th gen. iPod

I have twice synched photos from Windows PC to iPod. Each time the new photos have replaced the old photos, which were removed from my iPod. What do you suggest for resolving this issue?
    iPod

That's simply how it works when you use automatic photo syncing. If you want to keep the existing photos in your iPod you need to set it to update photos manually, not automatically.

  • Can not turn on the eq on my 80 gig 5th gen iPod?

When I go into the eq menu on the iPod it says off at the top of the list and I want to turn on bass booster so I try to turn the bass booster on by selecting it but it doesn't seem to come on. I have read the article on the eq and understand if I set the song in iTunes it will use that eq setting. Maybe there is nothing to show that eq is "on" and off is simply there to cancel the eq but that doesn't make any sense because there is a flat selection avail.
If I select boost and it is in fact working (i can not hear a diff with very good earphones on) does it in fact stay on for all of the songs that are in the random playlist? Or do I have to select it each time? Again there is nothing on the display or anywhere that I can find that idicates it is working or on.
Thanks for any thoughts on this or help with it.

By cursor do you mean that the selection is highlighted? There isn't a cursor showing when I go into the eq and display the list. The highlighed item (Bass Boost) does show up. Maybe there isn't a lot of Boost because I sure don't detect a difference.

  • 5th Gen iPod and 2nd gen Nano will connect to Mac, not found by iTunes

I bought a brand new MacBook running OSX 10.4.9, and I cannot get my 5th gen iPod video nor my 2nd gen Nano to be recognized by iTunes. The computer recognizes that there are two drives-- they come up on the desktop. But iTunes will not notice them, let alone play music from them. These iPods are mostly used with Windows 2000 PC laptops, and I'm connecting them via USB.
    What should I do?
    Thanks,
    Robert

  • Questions regarding upgrade from 4th gen to 5th gen iPod

I recently received a new 80 gig 5th gen iPod and had 2 questions regarding it and my old 40 gig 4th gen. PC meets minimun requirements and is running XP Pro.
    1) Do I need to do anything before synching the new 5th gen iPod with my existing Library (i.e. uninstall iPod Updater for 4th gen)?
    2) If I don't need to uninstall the 4th gen Updater, can I run both iPods off the same Library, same user (obviously not simultaneously)?

    N/A   Windows XP Pro

    Hey, joggy!
    1) No, I don't believe you do. Be sure to disconnect the 4th gen iPod before connecting the 5th generation iPod to the computer.
    2) Yes, you can.
There are basically two methods with managing muleiple iPods on one computer:
Method 1 - Create different Windows users accounts for each resgistered iPod on this computer.
Method 2 - Create a playlist in iTunes for each iPod.
To make Method 2 work, connect one of your iPods, and click on it in the left-source panel.
Under the "Music" tab, and set your option for a specific playlist(s) under the "Sync Music" option.
Do the same with your other iPod; not connected at the same time, though.
For more details on this matter, check out Apple's Support article about it:
How to manage multiple iPods using one computer
    I hope that helps you.

  • I have a 5th gen ipod and recently all of my video podcasts stopped showing up in my ipod.  They still show up and play in itunes, just not in my video podcast list on my ipod.  All of the podcasts are Quicktime Large.

I have a 5th gen ipod and recently all of my video podcasts stopped showing up in my ipod.  They still show up and play in itunes, just not in my video podcast list on my ipod.  All of the podcasts are Quicktime Large.  For some reason my ipod has stopped supporting Quicktime Large.  Now I've had to redownload every video podcast as Quicktime Small.
Anyone have any ideas whether this is from the the software version 1.3 and if they'll fix it in the next update?

I'm having same problem, but QT Small videos are also not getting synced.

  • 5th gen iPod lost and will not play videos after connecting to iTunes

I have a 5th gen iPod. When last connecting to iTunes, videos and movies disappeared. Purchased a new movie that iTunes says was compatible with 5th gen, movie won't transfer to iPod. My settings state that I will manually manage videos and music. Performed all 5 "R"s and iPod still won't accept movies "...can't be played on this iPod"

I have a 5th Gen iPod Touch. I went in iMessage to save videos that were sent to me in my camera roll. The videos do not appear in my camera roll but my memory keeps on going down. I do not know how to solve the problem. I do not want to restore my iPod but I want to get my memory back. Please Help ME

Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
    Come back with the results.
An "other" larger tha about 1 1/2 usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files.
    First try:
"First you go settings/general/usage/music/then left swipe over music and press delete and you would think it deletes your music but it doesn't instead it deletes your other but make sure your ipod is connected to a computer while doing this"
    as recommended by:
How do I get rid of "other" storage: Apple Support Communities
Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
To restore to factory settings/new iPod see:

  • 5th gen iPod video issues

Ok. I'm on my second iPod here. Just got this one as a gift and am having trouble loading vidoe and photos to it. I'm on a Titanium PowerBook running the latest version of OS X. My boyfriend is on a pc and also has a 5th gen iPod. I connect either iPod to his pc, and all the tabs that should be there come up in the summary in his iTunes. It says my iPod is up to date. I connect to my computer and only the Summary, Music, Podcasts and Contacts tabs show up. I'm on the latest version of iTunes as well. It does say, however, that my iPod is Windows formatted. I take my iPod to work and connect to my G5, and everything is fine there too. So what do I have to do to set up my laptop at home to be able to upload videos and photos to this iPod???? I'm not finding anything in the discussions that's hitting my particular problem....

update: i did the archive and reinstall with my os and then ran software update. my os is clean and current, and the ipod is working perfectly.

  • Video and Photo Vieweing Drains Battery

When I play videos or view photos on my 30GB iPod, my battery gets drained in less than a few minutes. My iPod is fully charged and I make sure I don't over-charge my iPod. I have asked other people and they say that their batter doesn't drain fast. I do get my videos from the Music Store so I know it's safe for my iPod, for the pictures, their just pictures. Is this a problem with my battery, the software, or is it a common problem that a few other people have with their iPod Video.

Most likely a problem with your battery. If you have the original 5th gen iPod, it should play video for 2 hours, and if you have the new one, it should play for 3.5 hours. Perform the iPod battery test here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61475
to see if you need a new battery.

  • Will my iPod use unused video and photo memory space for more songs?

if i don't put any video or photos on my 60gb iPod, will I be able to store more than the stated 15,000 songs on there? gracias
    5th Gen iPod 60gb   Mac OS X (10.4)

I guess it isn't 100% clear, but I would think that when Apple says the iPod holds up to 15,000 songs, 25,000 photos and up to 150 hours of video, that each of those would be how much the iPod could hold if you were only using it for each particular thing (i.e. 15,000 songs IS a full iPod if all you have are songs on it, and 25,000 photos would also be a full iPod if only photos were on it). But that's just how I read the iPod description.
