Video appearing black

My video is appearing black in After Effects, Final Cut Pro and Quicktime 7 Pro, but I can see it in the regular quicktime 10.2. The audio works fine. The codec in Final Cut Pro reads Linear PCM, Uncompressed 32-bit ARGB
It reads "None" in Quicktime 7 Pro.
Using Quicktime 7 Pro, I've selected every option under transparency. Anyone have a solution?

Thanks for taking this on.

  • Apple Site Videos appear black, but auido OK

I don't know what's going on. This is a new iMac (purchased from apple Sept '07)
It was working fine for while, now when I try to watch ANY video on apples site, the video is black and the audio is fine. (this includes tutorials, guides, and ads)
I've tried using safari, and firefox, I've rebooted the computer and check some settings. Can any one help?

Yes, I've installed all the quicktime updates. (even 7.4) That may have cause the problem. Maybe it's only quicktime videos on Apples site that I'm having a problem with. (Most other sites are using flash based players)
I don't want to do a full system refresh (besides being a mac newbie, that's more work) is there another way around it. I don't mind removing quicktime, finding older versions and trying that. Do you think that might work. Even by removing some of the system library files. (I may be a mac newbie, but I was an advance PC guy for years, that finally got tired of all the garbage and just wanted something that worked.)
    Thanks

  • AE exported video appears black in Premiere Pro

Do I have wrong settings or something in my Premiere (Pro 1.5) or more likely in export settings of my After Effects 6.5, cause after I've exported a video clip from AE and bring it to Premiere, the video turns black. I can hear it's audio though.
If I watch the same exported video with some video player, it's ok.
    Thanks,
    Jussi

Umm, could you please provide some format specs? You know, I can watch videos on YouTube "in some player" and it's okay, but that does not mean that these videos will have any value in Premiere. Not meaning to be snobistic here, but everyone's telepathy can only go so far and in my case it seems I'm not tuned to your brainwave length....

  • Videos Appear Black and Jagged

I need help in playing AVI videos on Quicktime.
Ever since I upgraded to Quicktime Pro, my AVI videos have not been playing.
At first I got a white screen and audio only.
And then I installed various components but it only made it so that the screen became black with choppy colors here and there, like so:
    http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/1062/picture3pn1.png
Nothing I do seems to get rid of this jagged coloring and black screen.
I tried downgrading quicktime but that didn't work either.
    I tried reinstalling as well.
    Please help.
    Thank you in advance.

    It says it's a 3ivx mpeg-4 vid?
It used to play fine on this mac but now...
I tried perian, and the preview of the video in the file columns appear fine, but the actual video is still black and jagged.
I've tried to import it into imovie and it doesn't improve.
it plays on VLC fine but... I need to make edits in imovie...

Try resetting your phone by holding down the home and off button until the apple symbol comes up. Then if still doing, restore your phone in itunes from your backup.

    Help!

    Qwerter, welcome to the forum.
I suggest that you download and install any patches for Shogun 2.  This is the first thing that I do when I install a new game.  The developers are under a lot of pressure to get the games released.  So, there are going to be problems that need to be patched.
Please let us know if this solves your problem or not.

  • Why is the first video frame black?

Why is the first frame black?  How can I fix this?  When I edit a video, which includes removing the first second, and render it using medium quality H.264, the first frame is black in QuickTime, and the first second or two of video is black in HTML5 Video on the web.  When I load it in PS CS6 Extended, the first frames do not appear black.  When I render in low quality I don't get black frames but HTML5 Video looks terrible in Internet Explorer.   Thanks.

  • I cannot view clips on the viewer window - as it appears black, However, I can still hear the sounds in the background.

    Hello!
I cannot view any of the clips (not from event browser nor from timeline) on the viewer window - as it appears black/or blank/ or static ! However, I can still hear the sounds in the background.
P.S I have chosen the filter: ALL
Please help me with that I'm getting desperate ! I need to finish a project within one week :(
    A million thanks in advance

    Hi F. Carl
The clip is intact and it has video and audio.
I have worked on it before and all was fine until I lost the work when it got frozen!
    The issue is:
I have a (MOV.) ready clip that I wanted to edit a bit, hence I have imported the clip (import media) and whenever I try to work on it, the black screen prohibits me from doing anything.
Any ideas please ... It's really strange !

  • Imported jpegs from iPhoto to iMovie appearing black!

    Hi,
I have got an iMovie project underway and need to import a Jpeg image into the video. I first load the photo into iPhoto, then this appears in iMovie. However, when dragging it to the project just before the video starts, it appears as the actual photo on the timeline but nothing when skimming or playing the video - it appears black!
    How can I solve this?

    Hello Jbulluck,
iMovie likes to have its material in dv format, meaning you'll need to convert.
Good advice is found in Dan Slagle's Unofficial iMovie FAQ
    1. Can't hear audio in iMovie when I import an MPEG clip
iMovie doesn't work with muxed mpeg video.

  • Still images appear black in final DVD

I am making a 12 minute film on a Dell dimension 2400 using elements 2 (which I have done several times before without problems).
Project includes video and still photos.

  • Streamed Video Appears Anomalous

I just today started using Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder and Server, but am having a few issues. I was able to stream a 320x240 video live without issue. But, once I increased the resolution and bit rate, the video started looking, quite litterally, terrible. So terrible, that it looks basically like a mush of colored blocks. I've attached a screenshot, though at the moment I took it, most of the live feed was just appearing black.
I'm new to Adobe's Flash Media solutions, so I'm not sure what's causing the problem. Any suggestions?

Any data rate that I'd set above 600 Kbps would result in the quality of video as pictured in the screenshot. I was on a 40 Mbps download, 35 Mbps upload connection.
Version was Flash Media Development Server 4.5.

  • Switching webcam player video format black square problem

switching webcam player video format black square problem:
After the webcam player is stopped and the format changed and player is started using a new format there is a black square that appears over the screen area that partially covers up the webcam session.
    Why is this happening?

Just incase anyone else runs into this problem, I was able to solve it by calling setVisible(false) on the current visual component.

  • Just installed mountain Lion. Viewing a pdf sent to me using preview and some colors are appearing BLACK, however when I view the same PDF in Acrobat they are perfect and what they are suppose to be. WHY would PREVIEW showing a different color?

Just installed mountain Lion. Viewing a pdf sent to me using preview and some colors are appearing BLACK, however when I view the same PDF in Acrobat they are perfect and what they are suppose to be. WHY would PREVIEW showing a different color?

Here's what I've found on the issue:
Pantone color definitions have changed (coinciding with CS6) — they are now "Pantone+" (I think that's what they're called). The "+" apparently means they're now LAB colors. Lab colors are not properly displayed in Preview (or in Finder previews) — they display as black (as far as I can tell, in all circumstances). I'm sure it's a tad more complicated than that, but that's the gist.
Now the bad news — nobody seems to know anything about a fix or workaround (unless you convert your PDFs to process — this might be a fix for sending to clients). It causes issues for me in AI files — being able to view them in the finder (with previews) is a HUGE time saver for my workflow... when they're all black, not so much.
In my chat with a director of product dev at Adobe, they placed the responsibility to fix on Apple (assuming Apple wants to support Pantone color definitions in their OS).

  • I have an older version of imovie.  After I change the photos using the Ken Burns effect and save them, the next time I open the file and click 'show photo settings' to change the zoom, the picture appears black and I can't change the zoom?

I have a five year old version of imovie that generally works fine.  However, when I add a photo using the 'Ken Burns' effect then save the movie, the next time I open the file and click 'show photo settings' the picture appears black and I cannot change the zoom.  Any suggestions?

Have you rendered both iOS 7 and iOS 8 (both of which will work on your iPhone 5) out of the question entirely without trying every possible configuration? The animations can be disabled entirely, if that's the problem. And if the whiter-brighter user interface is the problem, there's reverse-contrast modes that darken everything. You can expose accessibility controls to gain immediate access to these functions to toggle them on and off. I guess my point is you may have decided against upgrading the OS based on an early experience with iOS 7 when Apple has since made changes in later revisions to address some of the usability complaints.
Now, Apple's instructions for downloading older versions of apps is to do so from the Purchased list, not from the app's product page.
    See here:
Install the latest compatible version of an app on an earlier version of iOS or OS X - Apple Support
Let us know how that works for you.
