I recently noticed that the microphone on my iPhone 4S is not working right. I can record voice just fine. Issue is only when I am using a Video recorder or an app such as Facetime. Sound sounds really mumbled and the audio can hardly be heard. iPhone is about 3 months old. Any ideas ?

The top mic is faulty. Blow out the pin hole next to the headphone jack hole. You have Warranty, make Genius reservation or set up service and take or send to Apple for resolution. If you are adventurous, take a straightened small staple and clean the small hole out.

Video is recording without voice on i phone 5

I got my iPhone 5 from UAE 2 month ago, now i'm in Egypt, since i got it, video is recorded without any voice, i tried checking the settings for video but couldn't find any solution till now.
Also cannot activate face time & iMessage till now, it's giving me the following message (waiting for activation) all the time, then after along time gives me (failed)i tried using both wifi & mobile internet with no effect.

I tried the force shut down many times, i also reseted all the settings many times, no use.
I couldn't find a volume button to adjust or to turn it on while recording, the adjustment is only effective while replaying the recorded video.

How do i transfer a video back onto my iPhone in the Photo app where it originally was and can be shared from (NOT the video app)

I have a video that i originally took using my iphone but then transfered to my PC. I want to put it back onto my iPhone in the photo app (NOT video app) so i can share it straight from my phone.
Since one of the iphone updates enabled the volume button as a camera shutter button and i was shooting the video one handed, i held the camera with the volume buttons on top. Unfortunatly, the phone still saves it in such a way that only the iphone and itunes recognize the proper orientation intended and when it's opened with any other device or program, it automatically makes the part of the video that's against the smooth side of the phone always the top side (regardless of if that makes the video sideways or upside down). I was able to get the video back onto my phone as a "video" where it shows up in the video app as a "movie" and there are no options to share via text, email, youtube (which were options when the video was still in the photo app). I need to be able to share the video with family

Have you transferred photos from your computer to your iPhone which is selected under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes?
If so, you can place this video in the folder of photos on your computer that is selected to be transferred to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process. Under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, select Include Videos.

Videos not showing up in iPhone video app.

I am running the lastest version of iOS and iTunes. I have home sharing activated on both my iPhone 5 and my MacBook Pro. My MacBook is on and iTunes is open. My macbook is set not to go to sleep while connected to AC power. I can access my home sharing music library. However, when I open the video app all I can access are the three videos I have loaded onto my iPhone's internal memory. While I am at home and connected to my network, I would like to be able to access all the videos in my iTunes library. I do not understand what I am doing wrong. I have included a screen shot of what I see when I open the Videos app. The three TV episodes are loaded onto my phone if I ever find myself mobile with time on my hands. Thank you to anyone who helps!

I did some more experimenting...
I have one 'TV Show' type video on my iPhone = "Shared" missing;
I deleted the 'TV Show' = "Shared" reappeared;
I added the same 'TV Show' back = "Shared" missing;
I deleted the 'TV Show' = "Shared" reappeared;
I added a 'Movie' type video = "Shared" remained;
I added the same 'TV Show' back ="Shared" remained;
I deleted the 'Movie' = "Shared" remained.
So the videos on my phone in step 1 and 7 are the same but after randomly deleting and adding videos, I was able to toggle the "Shared" button back on. I did all this on iTunes while leaving the Video app on; after every step, the "Video" app would update with the "Shared" changes. Certainly not a fix for the problem but I hope this workaround helps others too.

Voice memos are never erased from the phone?

I use voice memos frequently, and I think I understand the basics of managing them with iTunes. What I've noticed is that the Voice Memos list that appears in iTunes, under Devices / ~ iPhone includes hundreds of memos that go back two years or more. These memos have been deleted in iTunes, and some of them have been deleted on the phone, in the Voice Memos app itself. After syncing they do not appear in the Mac, but they're still in the phone! They persist in the Voice Memos list... They're in grey (because they're in the phone) so I can't delete them in iTunes. But I can play them - they exist within the phone. On the phone itself I can't find them, view them or play them.
How to I delete these old outdated files?

As posted elsewhere, one solution to this bug is iFunBox, a free app that allows access to the iPhone's file structure. The voice memos are there to be copied (if you want to back 'em up elsewhere) and deleted. A couple of clicks and the job's done. Freed up memory on my phone and got rid of years' worth of useless recordings.

If you still have the 'pointers' to them in iTunes then I think that it assumes that you still have them on your computer so it won't re-download them or let you copy them from your iPod - try deleting the iTunes entry for one of them and then re-try re-downloading or, with your iPod connected, File > Transfer Purchases. If it works for that one then do the same for the others.

My Voice Memos are not Syncing to iTunes

I sync my phone with my PC but my voice memos are no longer syncing and showing up on my computer. I've tried resetting settings, etc. nothing seems to fix it.
Any suggestions?

I found the answer, at least it worked for me.
Here ya go:
1) open the Voice Memos app on your iPhone
2) on any memo: click the little blue arrow on the right
3) Click the next arrow in the top most box this will put you in the "Label" screen
4) From the "Label" screen: click the arrow next to "Custom"
5) In the Custom screen: give the memo a name (click Done)
6) Click the left arrow (top left) to go back to your memos.
You'll see that you memo as a name. I changed mine from "4:25 PM" to "Fishcakes".
7) Sync your iPhone and you are good to go.
NOTE: If for some reason this doesn't work, go back into the same "naming" list on your Iphone voice memos app, and try one of the standard labels instead of a custom one. With one that wouldn't sync, I changed it to "Memo" and then synced it again, and then it worked.

Why is the mic not working working on speaker mode, even though siri and voice memos are working?

I bought my iphone 4s from canada about less than a month ago. It worked perfectly fine, until i recently discovered that the mic on speaker mode stopped working. That means, when i speak to someone on speaker during a call, they are unable to hear me.However Siri and voice memos are working fine. I could initially face-time but now i cant. I have also tried restoring my iphone a few times.
As i am based out of india, I contacted apple in India, they refused to touch the phone as it was purchased in Canada and the warranty is apparently applicable only in the country of purchase. I can in no way go back to canada to get the phone replaced. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can resolve this? Shouldnt apple be able to get this sorted since its a brand new phone under warranty?

Thanks Bro. I have backup. and I did the same thing twice but only 26 contacts appear on the device. Now again yesterday after your suggestion again I restored the device but the result was same. Then I thought a new thing. I restored the device one more time but after restoring I didn't configure the icloud account. Surprisingly all my old contacts are there in the device but those 26 contacts are not there. Now I will tell you how this must have happened? I had 3gs earlier. that was stolen 3 months ago. I put the device in lost mode. I purchased new iphone4. I restored with itune. All my data came back. After that I saved these 26 new contacts to my device which also saved in icloud but when I tried to backup on my pc it was not happening. the messege coming device disconnected. 2 days back my stolen device came online. Lost mode was activated by icloud. But what I think in between that time the other fellow must have deleted the phone contacts. And as per icloud also deleted the same. Only the 26 contacts which I saved in these 3 months remained in icloud. Now bro can u help me out? What I should do? I have 26 contacts in icloud and < 500 in my device. I don't understand when all other Co's mobile you can import contacts from any backup file iphone can not. This is the DRAWBACK OF IPHONE.

Update to IOS 6 and Voice Memos are now gone.

My daughter has an old iPhone 3GS without a phone plan that she uses as an iPod. Tonight, she updated it to IOS 6 without telling me, which means it wasn't backed up prior to the update. Now, all her Voice Memos are gone, and she hasn't synced it with iTunes since last summer - assuming that the Voice Memos were going to iCloud.
A quick Google search tells me that Voice Memos aren't backed up to iCloud. Is it possible that these Voice Memos exist somewhere on the phone that we can recover?
If not, she has learned a hard lesson about doing major updates like this. I haven't updated my phone yet because I want to be sure everything is backed up first.

I am having the same issue. Updated to ios6 via the phone (iphone 4) and now all of my voice memos are missing. I have the majority backed up somewhat recently to itunes, but I'm baffled as to why all of them would go away on the phone after the update?

HT1296 I was using the iCloud for my iPod and had recorded an important Voice Memo on the device. Before I was able to store it on my computer, the device stopped working. I have the data on the Cloud, how can I get that back to my iMac?

I was using the iCloud for my iPod and had recorded several irreplaceable Voice Memos. It went up to the Cloud, but I wasn't too savvy with the Cloud at that point, so it wasn't syncronizing to my home computer. So, the thing is that the iPod died and the backup is in the Cloud and I would like to load the backup to my iMac to recover my data. How can I do that? Thanks

The new device I got to replace the iTouch is a iPad and I don't see the playlist I created with previous voice memos on it at all. Is there any way to access them on the iPad? If I erase the iPad and restore it with the old back up will the Voice Memos come along and get in to my home computer or will I be out of luck?

Why my videos recorded with the camera are not saved in the video app? It is saved like a photo.

Like the title says, why when I record a video, it is saved like a photo and not like a video. I mean that if I go in video app, I can't see my video that I just recorded, I have to search in my photos, but this is a video. I don't understand.

Pictures and videos you take on the pad are saved in the camera roll. That's just where they go. If you select it, it should show with a play button to play the video.
If you sync it back to your computer, edit it and change it, then save it as a video, it will sync back to the pad as a video.

The recording is an hour and 25 mins.
I have never been able to listen to it. When I hit play, it freezes and
doesn't play.
