Video Artifacts During Heavy GPU Operations

Hello,
I have a Mid-2014 Macbook Pro 15-inch, 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM, GeForce GT 750M 2 GB.
When I perform GPU-heavy operations, such as rendering in Adobe Media Encoder using CUDA, I start to get video artifacts onscreen. I have attached an example.
The computer is sitting on an iCurve elevated stand, and I can hear the fans running. I suspect this is being caused by heat but I'm not sure. The problem is exasperated when I'm using 3 displays so I am now only using 2 external displays.
The problem also gets worse as the gpu-intensive tasks progress.
There are no meaningful messages in the console logs that would indicate software problems.
I would like to check my GPU temperature, but there is no straightforward way to do this with the NVIDIA GPU.

Have you tried iStat menus?

You also might make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for a FREE evaluation.  Bring the screen shoots with you.
Ciao.

  • TF2 Caused Persistant Video Artifacts

    I installed Team Fortress 2, and ever since playing it, I get video artifacts that persist even after rebooting. I'm pretty confident the graphics card is not broken.

    Also note that I get similar artifacts when enabling hardware acceleration in flash. They go away when disabled.
    I have a feeling it may be related to xorg. Relevant log below:

  • Random sounds during heavy usage (MacBook pro)

    Hi everyone, my mac recently come out sound from the MacBook pro body itself, not from the speaker but the body, the sounds is sound like "pop", I know this sound silly but it's serious!
    It start during heavy use like video editing and play game when the body start to heat up, the sound only produce 1~2 time only,I not sure if it is logic board or fans, but I have no problem when using my MacBook pro.
    Also, apple hardware test don't show up during start up when I press and hold the D key before gray screen appear,but internet recovery show up, I never have problem with AHT when I was in 10.9.5 or 10.8.5,  only this AHT problem only been discover after I found the sound problem as mentioned above.
    Please help me,thanks!

  • MBP won't boot. When starting there's weird video artifacts, but it never makes it past the apple logo.

    My MBP is an early 2011. At boot the screen is full of a strange video artifacts and never usually makes it past the boot screen. I tried this in windows with the same result. I've reset SMC, PRAM, uninstalled and reinstalled my ram, etc with no luck. I had this problem before and luckily was able to make it to the recovery menu to reinstall OSX and they did the trick. But this time I can't even get that far..... Check out the pic below. It's kind of crappy but you can see the artifacts if you look at the apple logo closely.

    That clearly indicates that your computer's GPU is damaged, and you are not the only one.
    If you have got a 15-inch MacBook Pro, Apple has started recently a free replacement program for all MacBooks Pro affected by defective GPUs like yours. You only have to take the Mac to an Apple Store or reseller to get it fixed for free. If you want to know more about the replacement program, have a look at the Apple site -> https://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro-videoissues/
    However, if you have got a 13-inch MacBook Pro, there is no replacement program, so you will have to pay for the repair.

  • Overflow during the arithmetical operation (type P) in program "SAPLHRPT

    Hi,
    I am currently facing an issue in payroll posting to accounting in international payroll.A run time error "Overflow during the arithmetical operation (type P) in program "SAPLHRPT" occurs. By reducing the amounts on the balance sheet side payroll posting document is created.

    Hi Asad,
    Does you guys enhancemented this program? I think if it`s standard code, it should give you a error message inform you "amount is too large" or something.
    So double click this dump log, to check whether it is a custom code, if yes, to add "TRY CATCH" and give out a message.
    regards,

    1388           ADD  xkomv-kwert  TO komp-mwsbp.
    Please give me the solution with detail decsription.How to solve with step by step.

    Hi,
    Instead of directly assigning the value to xkomv-kbetr. Store the value in a temporary variable of type p length 13 decimals 2 . Multiply by 10^n to get the correct result.
    Then assign the temp value to xkomv-kbetr.
    Sample Code
    DATA : lv_temp TYPE P length 13 decimals 2.
    lv_temp = ( xkwert * 10^n ) / komp-mgame.
    Then assign lv_temp to xkomv-kbetr.
    To get proper value, you have to multiply or divide by 10^n .

  • Intel i915 Video Artifacts with Xorg 1.9

    Hey everyone.  I set up Arch with my girlfriend on her Asus U81A earlier tonight, but we're getting some terrible video artifacting and I can't seem to find us a solution.  Basically the screen often fails to refresh after things even as simple as typing - lots of black boxes.  Is anyone getting the same behavior?  Has anyone come across a solution?  Here are her versions of the pertinent packages.  I'm not sure if this is just a conflict with the new xorg 1.9 or what...  I tried specifying the intel driver manually via both mkinitcpio.conf and GRUB (where you modeset=1).  Neither helps at all.
    gnome-desktop 2.32.0-1
    xorg-server 1.9.0-1
    xf86-video-intel 2.12.0-3
    Thanks to anyone who has info on this subject.

    ouch...noone wants an angry gf
    the 60ish fps is perfectly right since the intel drivers are now syncing to vblank

  • Video Artifacts: Radeon 9800 Pro + ACD 23 (Clear) + G5

    Hi guys.
    I've been experiencing some video artifacts with my retail version Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB (not the OEM "XT" version from Apple) which is driving my ACD 23" (Clear Enclosure), which is connected to a Dualie 2.5GHz G5 running Tiger 10.4.2.
    Prior to installing the upgraded video card, I never had this problem, so I am pretty sure it's the card.
    It has only happened to me when the G5 wakes from sleep. And it doesn't happen very often, either. Maybe 1 out of 20 wakes from sleep. The only way to get it back to normal is to turn off the G5 completely, disconnect the ADC connector cable from the back of the video card, and then reconnect it and reboot.
    I also have a second display connected to a Radeon 7000 via VGA and when the artificats appear, the other display is just fine. The weird thing is that I can actually take a screen shot of the artifacts, which I thought wouldn't show up. I am not sure what that means, but I think the fact that I can take a screenshot of it tells me the display is being corrupted at the system level. Right?
    Any help would be appreciated. TIA.
    Here's a screenshot:
    http://tinyurl.com/8jvtb

    Hi Bryanus,
    Did you have an ADC port on your old card? Do you still have your old card? If this is the case, you can verify that the new card is implicated by re-installing your old card and seeing whether the problem repeats itself.
    If you only have DVI on your old card, you would have to borrow an adaptor, but then you are relying on the adaptor to function properly.
    If the problem doesn't repeat itself with your old card being used, then the new card is the culprit, in which case I'd ask to have it replaced, or get a refund.
    If the problem does repeat itself with the old card, then you might want to consider other possible contributing factors such as the physical state of the monitor connection (dirty or tarnished contacts, bent pins etc.).
    If the problem repeats itself with a new (replacement) card, you could add AGP slot issues to the above paragraph.
    "Sleep" in an Apple Mac often generates issues with third party hardware, so your primary consideration that it is probably the card is (to me anyway) still the most likely.
    All the best with the diagnosis!
    Cheers!
    Karl

    Just so you know, i am running a stand-alone JAVA instance for the ADS service because it doesn't run on ppc64 and i have connected my server to this stand-alone server.

    Hi Chad,
    Glad to hear the issue is resolved. Content types could be used for multiple lists in SharePoint site at the same time.
    However, I'm not quite sure why you said the resolution is for a "bug". I read the article per your link:
    http://www.andrewconnell.com/blog/SP2013-Workflow-Custom-Task-Outcomes
    The article is showing how to create custom outcomes buttons in task forms. As I understand, the issue you encountered is that workflow migrated from the other site shows the suspended status.
    Please be more specific on the issue if assistance is needed. If this is the second question, I’d recommend you open another thread in the relevant forum and provide specific information about the issue. In order to avoid confusion and keep track of troubleshooting
    steps, we usually troubleshoot one issue per thread in order to find a resolution efficiently.
    Thanks for the understanding.

  • ERROR [B3108]: Unrecoverable out of memory error during a cluster operation

    We are using Sun Java(tm) System Message Queue Version: 3.5 SP1 (Build 48-G). We are using two JMS servers as a cluster.
    But we frequently getting the out of memory issue during the cluster operation.
    Messages also got queued up in the Topics. Eventhough listeners have the capability to reconnect with the Server after the broker restarting, usually we are restarting consumer instances to get work this.
    Here is detailed log :

    Hi,
    If you do not use any special cmdline options, how do you configure your servers/
    brokers to 1 Gb or 2 Gb JVM heap ?
    Regarding your question on why the consumers appear to be connecting to just
    one of the brokers -
    How are the connection factories that the consumers use configured ?
    Is the connection factory configured using the imqAddressList and
    imqAddressListBehavior attributes ? Documentation for this is at:
    http://docs.sun.com/source/819-2571/ref_adminobj_props.html#wp62463
    imqAddressList should contain a list of brokers (i.e. 2 for you) in the cluster
    e.g.
    mq://server1:7676/jms,mq://server2:7676/jms
    imqAddressListBehavior defines how the 2 brokers in the above list are picked.
    The default is in the order of the list - so mq://server1:7676/jms will always be
    picked by default. If you want random behavior (which will hopefully even out the
    load), set imqAddressListBehavior to RANDOM.
    regards,

  • Server hangs or freezes during heavy load

    During peak times of the day, especially during heavy load on the Calendar Server,
    the application seems to hang. The client side application will not respond on
    the user's desktop, and uni* commands on the server itself respond considerably
    slow.
    <P>
    There are two parameters in the server configuration file that are strongly
    believed to be a trigger of server hangs or freezes in large deployments and/or
    busy servers. Here is a description of the problem:
    <P>
    Large deployments tend to be 3000+ users per node. This could be a single or
    multi-node environment.
    <P>
    A lock manager fix was implemented in 4.0 to correct a problem that was
    found in 3.51 where the server would hang. At that time, the parameters called
    read/writelocktimeouts
    were introduced as a failover mechanism in case the
    database was not available, which would then trigger the client process to
    disconnect rather than hang the whole server.
    <P>
    These timeouts effectively will terminate a process whose read or write exceeds
    the specified periods. The default of 20 seconds is quite a large amount of time;
    however, it is not totally unlikely that such a value could be met on a
    very busy system. If this is the case, and there is some relation between a
    process being terminated by one of these timeouts and subsequent system
    instability, then the "solution" would not be to extend the values of the
    timeouts but rather to exclude them. This way, it will ensure that no process is
    terminated this way and therefore the process would be allowed to continue until
    it had completed its job.
    <P>
    The timeouts were not removed from the product, but under normal circumstances
    they probably won't be needed anymore anyhow. It seems that on a busy calendar
    server, setting the db timeout alarms may actually trigger the server to freeze.
    Below are some examples of errors that appear in the log files which show
    that the database is no longer accepting client requests:
    <P>
    db_VISTA ERROR -920 -> cst_d_open: d_open
    db_SchedBaseOpen: unable to open database
    probable cause: unilckd is down or "/users/unison/tmp/unisonlckm"
    was removed
    uniengd: database lock timeout
    ITEM: "NA,NA" <0,0>
    CLIENT: "unises", "A.02.80"
    INET-NAME:
    INET-ADDR:
    CALL: "SessionsInfoGet"
    <P>
    To make the fix:
    <OL>
    <LI>Using your favorite editor, edit the /users/unison/misc/unison.ini file.
    In the following section you will see these two parameters:
    <P>
    [ENG]
    writelocktimeout = 20
    readlocktimeout = 20
    <P>
    <LI>Place a "#" sign (or the appropriate comment symbol for your OS) in front of
    these two lines and save the file.
    <P>
    <LI>The server will now have to be restarted in order for the changes to take
    effect.
    </OL>

    This looks similar to what I'm seeing.
    DPM 2010, there's one backup set (for me a file server disk) that every time I try to run the initial replica on it the server hangs and needs to be rebooted by iLO. It doesn't just die suddenly, first the data stream on the backup stops then the OS becomes
    less responsive but there is no resource issue. trying to open event view will cause a few things to lock up then over a few mins the server is complete froze. like the disk drives have been locked.
    Suspecting McAfee, I added in all the exclusions, that didn't help so I added the process exclusions which are done by setting dpmra and csc to low risk and that didn't help either. I could reproduce it just by kicking off a backup for this one file servers
    drive so it's easy to test with.
    Tonight, I had some permissions in EPO to let me stop the scanning completely and disable the on-access scan and for the first time it worked!
    There is definitely an issue between DPM and McAfee beyond what is on MS's web page for AV checks.
    I don't have a workaround yet other than stopping the AV completely... Something to follow up on next week. For the moment I made some progress though.

  • Video preview during capture CS3

    Video preview during capture is not working even though settings are at preview video and audio during capture.
    The work around seems to be to go ahead record anyway (red button) then it works after I paste the captured audio onto the timeline.
    When pasting it to the timeline the video appears. The video appears during subsequent captures. It seems like a bug in CS3. This was not a problem with PP 1.5
    Thanks

    A few more of
    these details will help us help you.
    Cheers

  • 'An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\D during a paging operation.'

    Hi,
    since a while (as far as i am able to roll back system log in event viewer) I am having strange issues in the sys log, as in the subject. It is a warning of disk event 51: 'An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\D during a paging operation.'
    I have freed up 1/3 of each partition on the harddrive. Any idea where can i keep going to investigate?
    thx

    pogacsa,
    I have searched a bit about you issue in microsoft technet,and here's what they have got to say
    "An event ID 51 entry is a generic error entry for any type of error that occurs when Windows is paging information to input/output (I/O).
     A paging operation occurs when Windows either swaps a page of memory from memory to disk, or when Windows retrieves a page of memory from disk to memory."
    In this event, D, DR and FT, they all stand for a certain disk partition number. You can use the Registry or Disk Management to locate the certain disk.
    For further information, please refer to the following KBs:

    you may also want to check out this link from microsoft technet community as well.
    some of the resolutions mentioned there require you to modify your registry.Please DONOT attempt to modify the registry if you dont have enough prior knowledge about it
    Also try defragmenting your HDD once.
    hope this info helps you

  • An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0 during a paging operation.

    Hi
    I have a Dell PE 2850 running Windows Server 2003 which is attached via SCSI to a Power Vault 220 SCSI disk enclosure.
    The server is beeping and in the eventvwr I see the following message:
    An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0 during a paging operation.
    There are no disk failure lights on the server so what is causing these errors in the Event Viewer?
    Thanks
    Paul

    The "error" doesn't have to mean that the disk is faulty, it's just that that specific write operation might have failed (for unknown reasons).
    That's all the light I can shed on it after looking through my event logs, I have a few of those too, but no errors anywhere else.Best regards
