Video attachments not fully forwarding

I am new to Mac, when I forward an email which has a video attachment I found it forwards like a sound bar but as I just tried to copy it to show you I found I can choose "view as icon" which shows the program icon and it can be opened properly, only problem now is it doesn't fully show, it is just the top half of the icon?
Also I send myself emails to test what is being sent but I never receive them, why not?

This sounds a lot like it has something to do with the article here > http://www.flip4mac.com/knowledge/kb_0079.htm
I've just experienced a variation on this issue with a wmv that I received. I've seen this discussed quite a bit, but haven't heard about a solution. When I try to forward the video, the attachment reduces in size to a tiny 3/4" box. It will play, but you cannot possibly see it. I saved the original to my desktop and simply attached it to a mail message, but the same outcome occurred. The F4M knowledge base article says you have to open it in QT, and that it won't play in the mail view. I think this is all part of the same issue with QT, wmv's, F4M and Mail..

  • Sending video attachments not showing in email

Since the lion upgrade, if I drag a video clip onto the Mail icon in the doc, or create a new message and drag a video clip into the body of the mail, or click on attachments and add the clip manually, there is no evidece at all that a clip is attached.  No thumbnail, no file name.  The clips aren't really large by any means - maybe 1mb or less.
The attachment is there - I can send the email, and the recipient recives my attachment.  I simply have no proof at all when creating an email that a video clip is actually attached.
Draging images is fine and works normally. I'm just having a problem with the video.
Anyone else having this issue?  I feel like I'm missing something very basic.
    Thank you!

Fixed it on my machine!  Found the solution via an similar problem people were having in the Aperature program.
    SEE HERE:
    http://aperture.maccreate.com/2011/08/25/aperture-3-will-not-play-videos-if-lion -is-installed-and-3ivx-video-codec-is-installed/
I did a spotlight search for 3ivx on my computer and it found an 3ivx UNINSTALLER.
After uninstalling 3ivx and restarting - MOV VIDEO files worked again in my Apple Mail client.
I wasted 2 weekends of clean installs etc etc.  Glad it's ficed though.

  • Video attachments not appearing in iCloud mail

I use my Apple email on my iMac, and have iCloud email as one of my account. The problem I'm having is that when people often send me a video to watch, the attachment does not come through. It used to. I used to be able to watch videos right in the message but now, the attachment isn't even there. Anyone know why this would be happening and what setting to change to fix it? I can't find it despite my best efforts. I am using OS X Yosemite. Thanks!

    Hi Ernie,
Sorry for the delay in replying. I have cut and pasted the bits from two differnet emails. On the first I can see the attachment and on the second I can't. I hope these are the right bits - let me know if not. Many Thanks.

    Hi,
According to your description, since both IE and Chrome has same problem, it's not browser problem.
Have you tried to disable firewall and Symantec temporarilly for test?

  • New 30g video iPod not fully accessible.

    Hi all,
I looked around but couldn't find any replies specific enough for my sitch.
I just got a brand new 30g video iPod last week. I tried to load it up this weekend using my 2002, 1ghz, 17" flat panel iMac (usb 1.0/firewire).
I'm able to load playlists/music on my iPod (10.75 gigs so far) but I can't load videos. When I try, I get a message saying , more or less, that "the video can't be loaded on this iPod". Also, in iTunes, I only get tabs in the iPod section for:
    Summary
    Music
    Podcasts
    Contacts
And, under summary it reads: n/a for Software Version and n/a for Serial Number. And it says - Format: Windows. Since it was brand new out of the box, I figured it would have configured itself to Mac automatically?????? And "Software Update" and "Restore" are grayed out and not useable.
I thought all this might have something to do with using a usb 1.0 port on my iMac but I used a PC laptop with usb 2.0 and iTunes to check the iPod with and got these results:
I got more tab choices for the iPod such as: Movies, Photos, etc. and it showed the Software Version and Serial Number of the iPod but when I tried loading a video, I still got the same message saying that the video couldn't be loaded on this iPod.....huh????
Anybody know what's going on. I want to use the iPod to it's full capability and I want to use it mainly with my iMac because that is where I have all of my music and movies/videos (total of about 19 gigs worth of music and video). I'd rather not have to transfer all that to the PC.
Do I need to use Disk Utility to erase the iPod? I just don't want to mess it up.
    Thankxx

Hi, just to be clearer guy's:
    1. I'm not trying to upload movies from DVD's just digitized, downloaded videos.
    2. I am only using iTunes to manipulate the iPod, thought that was clear.. :/
    3. I tried the different video formats just to see if any at all would load.
I'll try to restore on the PC laptop. I'm still confused as to why the box says "PC/Mac" but upon connecting it to my iMac right out of the box, it was Windows formatted???
Oh well, let me give the PC restore a try. I'll let you all know.

Just got a new 13" MBP.  I received an email with a photo attached.  The photo starts to download but doesn't finish.  I see the top 1/5 of the photo but the rest is solid gray.
Any idea why this is happening?

  • Video Playcounts Not Increasing

I'm finding when streaming video over my wifi network to my Apple TV 2 the video does not play through to the end to increase the playcount in iTunes. They are being marked as played since the blue dot is removed. This is happening with TV Shows (encoded from DVD's), Movies and Video Podcasts. I am syncing the ATV after playing the video, but they still don't update. If I try playing the video again on the ATV I'm prompted with the "Resume or Start from the beginning" menu. Even after trying to Resume the video it acts the same. I can't even fast forward through to the end to increase the playcount. After updating it with iTunes if I play any of these videos there, they will play a split second of the end then the playcount will increase. It's like the ATV will not completely play a video through to the end.
This is completely disrupting the workflow for podcasts since I now have to make sure the playcount is increased so they will auto delete. I also rely on playcounts to manage TV Shows on my 5G iPod and touch.
Audio files, music and podcasts, seem to be updating the playcounts fine.
I did a quick search and found no similar issues posted. Can someone confirm this or is it an issue with my install?

I am very familiar on how to use the Apple TV. I have used it daily since I got it around 9 months ago. I use it as my main source of video since I have many movie and TV Show dvds store on external hard drives. It was working fine before the update and I am running it the same way. _I am allowing the video to play right through to the end and the ATV is going back to the menu indicating the video was completed, *it does not increase the playcount.*_ I have tried just clicking the fast forward button to complete the video on the ATV and it goes back to the menu screen indicating that it should have completed playback, it used to work in v1.1, _but not now_. As a last resort I tried holding the fast forward button to scan through to the end, the video appears to complete again taking me back to the menu, still the video does not fully complete on the ATV to increase the playcount. I tried all these methods with audio, and they still work on audio files, just not on video.
On 1.1 once you played the video all the way through, it would not prompt you to resume or start from the beginning, _only if it was partially watched._ The video is played till the ATV exits the video back to the menu, which appears as it should have increase the play count, but it does not. If the video was played to the end the resume prompt should not pop up on the ATV, it should start at the beginning with no prompt.
The only way I can see to increase the play counts is to start the video in iTunes after the ATV been synced with my computer. It has been marked as played but a 0 playcount. When I play the video in iTunes on the computer it will play for a split second and increase the play count to one, again pointing to a problem with the ATV. Even once I have the ATV and my touch synced and play the video on the touch, it will play for the split second and increase the play count. This tells me the ATV is having a problem either completing the video or writing the playcount to it's data base. I would guess the former since the video does not fully complete as indicated by iTunes and my touch. Again, these videos were played right through to the end on the ATV till the menus were displayed.
Syncing the video to the 40Gb ATV is not an option for me since I have over 400Gb of video and growing, as well as video podcasts I watch between a touch, iPod video and the Apple TV. The set up really relies on playcounts to work properly. Since I'm on the road quite a bit, I found myself away from home with 3 episodes of Dexter on my iPod video (which is set to sync the 3 least recent unwatched episodes) that I have already watched.
I really like the new Take 2 software even though I can't rent video here in Canada, but I may have to go back to 1.1 till this is fixed.

I can't get video attachments in gmail to play on my macbook pro.  Says format not supported.

What kind of video?  There are dozens of formats, some don't play on a Mac unless you have the right plug-ins for Quicktime.  There are some things you should download to help you out.

These should cover EVERYTHING you'd ever encounter (though maybe not).  Frankly, if it's not H.264 or w4v (or both), it doesn't belong on your mac.

I used to shoot video in my Powershot S3 IS (Format MVI_.AVI) and load them into iPhoto, I used quicktime pro so I could convert for emailing to family members.  That was when I was running Leopard now with Mt. Lion nothing works.  Videos do not open at all.  Any simple suggestions, I am not real keen on iMovie Productions and not real certain how they compress for emailing attachments.  Something simple here that I am missing?  Thanks so much.  I am a grandpa trying to share with family members far away (quickly & simply).

I am surprised that Apple did not build a converter into Mt. Lion.
Apple does have a converter built into Mountain Lion. It is call "Quicktime." However, in order to use this converter, you must first make sure the compression formats are playback compatible with QT. Basically, there are three levels of QT compatibility. The lowest is "Playback." These file can be played by QT but may not be conversion or edit compatible with QT. The second level is QT "Conversion" compatible. These files are playback compatible and can be converted to other compression formats using QT. "Edit" compatible media files are "Fully" compatible with QT since the can be played, converted and/or edited by QT. The main problem here is that AVI is a "legacy" file format that has not been officially supported by Microsoft for more than 11 years when it was replaced by Windows Media multimedia file/compression formats. Many of the original compression formats used in AVI files have never been transcoded for the Mac platform, use beyond system 9, or use beyond PPC platforms. In addition, some commonly used AVI codecs are proprietary or use non-standard (hybrid) profile and level combinations. In short, there is little wonder that Apple has been distancing itself from this outdated file type as it re-writes and upgrades its own QT structure to support more standardized, more scalable, more modern high definition file types and compression formats. It is really unfortunate that users continue to use this outmoded file type simply because it is freely available, easy to use, or they are simply too lazy to move on to a more modern or more efficient file types and/or compression formats.
I tested Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate for the Mac, which seems to be the "state of the art".  I may be purchasing a new camera which might create a whole new set of variables.  This program seems to cover all bases and is great for novices.
There are many third-party apps available if you wish to search for them. Many are even available in the App Store. Most do their job well and it is usually a matter of personal user preference as to which is best.
HandBrake seems more suited to folks with more experience and knowledge.
I mentioned Handbrake primarily because it is free and easy to use when you employ the included conversion presets options. (The TV options can normally be used for almost any situation depending on the source file and output requirements.) It is also excellent for more experienced users, but has a somewhat limited choice of output options as it does not access the user's system QT codec component configuration.

  • Video ipod not recognized by windows at all

My new video ipod suddenly cannot be recognized by Windows. I'm not really sure what happened - one day I was able to plug it in and have iTunes automatically start and sync, and now whenever I plug it in I just get the message "do not disconnect." Also, the iPod is not recognized by Windows - doesn't even show up in "My Computer," though it does show up in "Device Manager" and in the "Safely Remove Hardware" dialogue.
What could be wrong? I already uninstalled iTunes and Quicktime and reinstalled them, to no luck. I also installed the new iPod system software 1.3 but also no luck. Finally, I uninstalled all of my USB ports and forced Windows to reinstall them, but that didn't work either. The first time I put in the iPod after that I got a dialogue box that it had recongized the new hardware and was installing the iPod, but nothing ever came of it.
However, both iTunes and my video iPod are fully functional, and I have taken VERY good card of the video iPod.
Any idea what could be wrong???

I tried it, setting it to E. It didn't work. Tried the same thing after setting it to disk mode and it didn't work. Just the same old BS about "Do not disconnect," but it isn't recongized anywhere on the system except for Device Manager and the Disk Management tool you mentioned. No acknowledgement from iTunes or in My Computer. Meanwhile both iTunes and my iPod work fine, but they can't communicate with each other.
I AM GOING INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have tried every trick in the book that I could possibly think of. Not only did I uninstall and reinstall iTunes, QuickTime and the iPod helper, but after I uninstalled them I COMPLETELY nuked them, eliminating every file and clearing extraneous references out of the registry. Then I reinstalled from the CD going by the instructions by the letter. I thought for sure it would work now but for some ridiculous reason it doesn't.
I am completely at my wits' end.................. What the heck can I do???
PS: I also have Linux installed in a secondary extended partition, which is on my hard drive but not counted as C. Not sure if that makes any difference.

My daughter has 2 websites she can not fully access because the iPad won't download updates for Adobe. What is Apple doing to solve this problem?

Flash has been used for more than just displaying videos. The Vote choice your daughter found is one of those flash type sites that will not display on iOS devices. There are now over 100 million iPads, and who knows how many more iPhones out there. Developers who want their content to display on all these devices will have to move away from the old Flash technology.
There were some version of Flash that ran on other brands of tablets. But Adobe has stopped all development of Flash for all mobile devices. As time goes on and mobile operating systems evolve the no Apple devices will lose their ability to run Flash too. Web developers need to move on to cleaner, more efficient types of programming.
