Video Audio but no visual

I just updated my iTunes, but now my videos won't show properly. The sound is fine but the video doesn't appear the screen is just black and occassionally a pink screen flashes with "dvd" in a blue band. Any ideas what to do to fix this?

Is the PC running Windows ME(as your profile says)? If not what version of Windows is installed?

Fcp X share export media export video & audio but I simply can't work with audio

I simply wanna (and even tried to) save a movie using whichever codec, I make sure to set it up on "export video & audio", but I cannot do anything on audio since the audio file format won't be highlighted (just like if there was no sound on a video & audio file !!) It works if I choose an "audio only" file, but that's not what I want - I want to export video & audio. !!!
Is it a matter of codec or a preference setting... I just cant figure out !
Has anybody ever got the same trouble?

It was set to Surround and 48Khz. I set it to Stereo (and 44.1Khz for good measure, as that is the sample rate of my soundtrack) and then re-exported to H.264, and now the audo is perfectly centered.
So that's perfect, thanks.
Now the only thing wrong with FCPX is how it crashes every ten minutes or so!

Quicktime plays audio but no visuals

My quicktime player plays audio but not visuals.
The footage is Hdv footage which was filmed on a hdv camera recently.
I have quicktime version 7.5 & os 10.4.3
Any suggestions?

You really do need to update your OS to 10.4.11:

as well as updating Quicktime to 7.5.5 from the Apple download page.

Audio but no visual in DV

Received some .dv files for editing recently that while they play in the preview window in finder, when opened in quicktime, they only play audio, with a black box for video. When opened, a quick flash of video shows, but converts to black. These import to FCE fine.
Codecs on file that play fine in Quicktime 7.5.5 from the same import session list DV/DVCPRO - NTSC, Integer (Little Endian), Timecode.
If 'Timecode' is not present as a codec, the don't play correctly in quicktime.
Any thoughts on how to correct this?

Print to video, audio but no video

Hi,
I am trying to print a project to video.
Everything's hooked up, i press record, i record the project's audio, but not the video. Any suggestions?

I've had this problem many times. Try this course of action.
Go to View, select "Refresh A/V Devices." Try printing to video again and see if it works. If not, then go to your Audio and Video Settings (Should be under your Final Cut Pro dropdown menu at the top). Once there, go to the A/V Devices tab. Select any of your drop down boxes in this tab (doesn't matter which) and change it to something different, then change it back to your original setting. Try printing to video again.
I have found that this seems to solve this problem. I've also occasionally run into a problem where I get a window that pops up upon telling the program to print to video that says my selected video and audio options don't match, even though they do. This approach also seems to clear that up.

Printing to Video, Audio but no Video!

He said he found a switch that was making his deck monitor black. Did he find that on FCP?
When I go to print to viewer, there is action to my camera from FCP (everything turns black on the camera)
Seems like the on computer playback is fine with audio.
But no Video on the camera viewer.
When I hit escape it shows one single frame on the camera from the computer playback.
What do I do? Tried all settings and even some settings that don't even match my AV deck.

k found the problem on my own....
I was working with 24p material... you need to have a 29p. timeline in order to export...
had no idea...

P2 Card Video/Audio Separate?

Hey everyone, I'm new to P2 footage and have recently shot on the HVX. Now first thing I notice, is that the audio and video are separate. Why is that? Is there a way in premiere to sync them up without linking every clip? Thanks in advance.

Thats a confirmation from me that you can independently manage .mxf files outside the P2 structure that you maintain can not be done without "breaking" something

I dont get why you need to rename files but I guess you have your reasons within your own edit and shoot workflow.
Renaming files just does not figure in my primary workflow that I use in shooting and editing tapeless media
My tapeless workflows... work perfectly for me. They are simple, effortless and fast.
Mostly they are "invisible" (native) unless I choose to drill deeper into the Contents folder for various reasons as mentioned above.
Usually, I see and use only a Video file eg. xxxx.mxf and if it is synch sound or MOS thats all I get in the Project Bin (one clip / one file)
P2 in practice ...is a single file from an editors and shooters POV.
A single file from a camera would make no particular difference to me in the real world.
Basically I shoot "various" and I use whatever to get the results required. I am not arguing for or against your single file (video / audio) but I felt you need to know that its no big deal or unusual to deal with.

Video/Audio on iChat not always working

I am trying to iChat with my friend (video/audio), but the green calling button won't show up next to her name and mine either. Even when I right click on her name it won't let me video. We have videod before so it's not like it has never worked. We even did it earlier today. I don't know what's wrong!

Odd that it should change during a Session.
Have you truned Off the camera ?
This is a setting in the Video Menu of iChat. In iChat versions 3, 4 and 5 it reads "Camera Enable" in Version 6 is reads "Video Chat Enabled"
In either case it should be ticked. Selecting it toggles the tick and the Function On or Off.
Next check the View menu.
This should have Show Video Status ticked.
IF it appears that these are both ticked then return to the Video Menu and aopen the Connection Doctor > Capabilities and tell us what it says (Are they all green ?)

How come when I view flash videos my videos stop, but the audio plays and I see rainbow colored lines up and down the video.

ATR, just to make sure you understand me, all my video clips in my folders appear as the first frame of the video clip when I view my folders as (small, medium, large)icons instead of lists, when saved as .avi files but when saved as .mp4 files, those icons display as a graphic icon of filmstrip with a musical note on it. I do have various other methods to open with (quick time, windows media, winamp or real player) but prefer real player because I like it's quick and easy trimmer that comes along with it, since so many of my videos are just pet antics where you need to clip off the boring beginning and ends of the video.
I did go on a few of the icons and right clicked, Open With, and tried quick time and also Windows Media and it did nothing as far as how the file was saved for display, and they opened the same no matter which player I used...the actual video opens and plays right at it's first frame... but it's the way it is visually displayed in STORAGE that bugs me because it isn't immediately apparent to me what it is a video of (weddings, outside the house, pet antics)... it makes me have to actually title things and read titles where before I let it just be dates because I had the visual of that first frame as a reference. Obviously, this is a problem for unedited videos only, as anything I actually work with, I do give a title along with the date of the video.
I also just realized this seems to be the way ALL videos that are wrapped in .mp4 are displayed, as my bloggie camera's videos appear the same way. Now I know why! My other videos display as .avi's so I see the frame. Puzzle solved. Guess I'll just have to learn to live with it, as it seems to be how things display with the various formats.
Now I need to watch some tutorials to learn how this Premiere program works! It's all new to me, since this is the first time I've been able load any of my videos onto it. I haven't even been able to figure out how to trim on it yet!

Videos work fine, but when view in ITunes Video/Audio are not Synced up

Im not sure how to get around this but at the moment im converting my DVDs to mp4 format to view through itunes/appletv.
The MP4 files work fine when watched in Windows Media Player or VLC Media but when i watch it through ITunes the video/audio is not matching up.
How can i fix this?

When I try to play H264 format Movie files via iTunes (9.0.2.25) or Quicktime Player (7.6.5) the audio is half to a full second ahead of the video.
I have tried multiple H264 format videos and they all have the same problem.
If I try playing the same files in Windows Media Player then the video and audio is all in sync as it should be.
I have tried multiple machines, Windows 7, Vista and XP, all of which show the same issue.
Any help in resolving this issue would be highly appreciated.

IPhone Videos on TV - Have Audio but no Video

I recently bought the composite cables for iPhone and hooked them up to my TV so that I can view my videos on it. However I can hear the audio but I cannot see any video on it. I have 4 composite outlets on my TV and I have tried them all. My DVD player plays video on all 4 outlets fine though.
Music plays fine, obviously I do not need video for that.
At first I thought that the yellow composite cable was defective, so I brought it back to exchange at the store, twice. No luck with the other two cables either.
I have tried both NTSC and PAL outputs although I'm pretty sure my TV is NTSC.
A lot of my videos were converted from .avi format to .m4v format. None of the videos were purchased from the iTunes store. Is there something wrong with the conversion? Is there any particular settings (fps, sampling, etc.) that I should convert my m4v files in? Should I just have converted them to .mp4 instead?
I'm just about to buy a Composite to S-video converter so that I can see if I can use that outlet for video instead. But before I blow $30 on it, can anyone let me know what I'm doing wrong?

Are you sure you got the "new" cable? I have a cable that plugs into the earphone jack that works with an older iPod, but had to purchase the newer cable to use with my iPhone. The new cable plugs into the usb/sync connection on the bottom. I think it is also possible you may have been sold an older cable that plugs in this way as well. You should check the packaging to see which specific models it is compatible with. If it is not the cable that Apple sells there's a good chance this is your problem.

System Preferences>Displays
There is a little white bar. When you have your TV connected, move the white bar to the other display. Your main desktop is now the TV screen
