Video & Audio out of sync after update

Ever since I updated my MacBook Pro to OS X Yosemite v10.10 last week, all videos are out of sync with the audio. It wasn't just on Safari while playing YouTube videos or DailyMotion videos, but also when playing videos files on my computer. For short videos, the audio is just a second ahead or behind the video, but for long films it can be minutes apart.
Does anyone else have this problem? Can anyone tell me what caused this and how can it be solved? Thanks so much!!!

I have the same issue and it started 3 days ago. This happens with anything I'm watching, netflix, huluplus, youtube, crackle, anything that has audio and video. The biggest issue is that it's also affecting iMovie and Final Cut pro X. This is a MAJOR issue given that I make a living editing video. I hope somebody can find a solution for this issue.

  • My videos play with video/audio out of sync in itunes, what gives?

All of my itunes video library, including those purchased from the itunes store, play with the video/audio out of sync.  However, if I use Quicktime, they play fine. I just noticed this recently with the latest update to itunes.

I found the solution using google search.  Basically you have to downgrade your itunes software to version 10.7 and rebuild your library.   Just type in iTunes audio/video out of sync on google search and you will find the solution I am talking about.   I didn't think it would actually work because supposedly apple knows what it's doing but not in this case.  Why they would put out a new version of itunes that makes none of your videos play right, even ones you purchased from itunes is beyond me but I'm sticking with version 10.7 for as long as I can.

  • Audio out of sync after importing .MOV

Experiencing audio out-of-sync issues after importing a .mov clip into Premiere Pro.
The .mov clip causing the problem does not have a problem when played with quicktime or vlc: The audio matches the video perfectly.
Adobe Premiere Pro CC 7.2.1 (4) on OSX 10.9.1

  • Audio out of sync after exporting into Quicktime using current settings.

Quicktime file has audio out of sync when I export to quicktime movie using current settings.
Ok for about the first few minutes then, out of sync after about 10 minutes.
I shot the footage on tape with my Sony HVR-Z7u.
My Sequence setting is the same as the format of the footage as shown below.
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: HD 1440x1080
    Editing Time base: 23.98
Quicktime video settings: Compressor: HDV 1080p24
    Audio Settings: Rate 48 KHz
    Depth: 16bit
    Clip format:
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: HD 1440x1080
    Vid Rate: 23.98
    Compressor: HDV 1080p24
    Audio Rate 48 KHz
    Audio Format: 16bit

I recently moved and both of my editing machines were unplugged for a couple of days until I could get them set up. After turning them back on, the problem had disappeared. Perhaps leaving the system unplugged had allowed some of the internal components to reset? That's the only thing I can think of. At any rate, the issue is gone.

  • Audio out of sync after encoding

I'm hoping someone can offer a suggestion.  I've encoded my sequence 4 times now and every time the audio is out of sync with the video.  The sequence is about 2 hours long.  It was shot on a HD flip cam, , 1280 x 720 (1.0) 30.00 fps, 44100 Hz.  The sequence is HD 1280 x 720 (1.0), 29.97 fps, 48000 Hz-Stereo.  They are the exact settings I've been using to make these videos for the past 5 months since upgrading to CS5, and this is the first time I'm having this issue.  I usually make 30 minutes videos, this is my longest yet.
I've definitely had this happen before with cs4, but was hoping the upgrade to a better version as well as better computer would do away with these encoding issues. I dont' know what other info you may need, but I'm happy to provide more.
I'm exporting to window's media, NTSC Source Hight Quality, output 720x480, 48kHz, stereo.  Everytime I export it, the video markers only cover half the sequence.  I have to move them to cover the entire sequence.  Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
I'm at a loss.  Any suggestions would be so appreciated.
    Jules

Thank you so much.  I did have problems with Encore, but I hopefully got that resolved.  This specific problem is audio out of sync in my media encoder.  I can't test the project beforehand.  It took 2 1/2 hours to encode and when I played the finished project, it was out of sync.

  • Exported quicktime files have video & audio out of sync

I am using FCP with a Sony HVR-Z1E. All seems ok in my edit etc but if I try to export my edit to a quicktime file using the quicktime conversion option the audio and video are out of sync on quicktime. If I export using quick time movie option, all is fine as this file is played back by FCP. I have tried different settings but I cant get the audio to be in sync with the video. My settings are HDV 1080i50 on my 15" Macbook Pro
    Thanks for any help
    Regards Alf

You can open your "quicktime movie" (not qt conversion) in quicktime player. Simply control click on the file in the finder and choose open with... Try that and let us know if the file is in synch.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0PQEoZvGbk

ha. having the video is killer. there are a couple ways to do this. i'd recommend using the blade tool (tap b twice to get the one that cuts all tracks), make a cut through the audio and the video at the points where you want it sped up, then right click the clip itself (which should be linked with audio and video) and then just set it to whatever speed you want. it'll have the same effect. you might have to adjust boundaries or you can select ripple.
alternatively, it looks like you just needed to do the same thing to the audio that you did to the video in that clip you uploaded. you can always relink things by selecting the audio and video and hitting cmnd+L.
    hope that helps.

  • Why is Audio out of sync after encoding?

I have encoded a 60 minute film using separate video and audio files -- quicktime for picture, AIFF for audio. In the DVD Studio Pro project, they are perfectly in sync. But in the encoded DVD they are playing out of sync by over 1 second.
I've encoded the same movie with different versions of the soundtrack several times before with no problems.
Anyone have any ideas of what has happened and how to fix it?
The Quicktime and the AIFF were on different drives when I was building the project. Could this have had any effect?
    Using DVD studio pro v4.0.2
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Nope, I am a strong believer if it ain't broke do not fix it, and personally I loved 10.3.9 - in fact I say away from updates unless absolutely needed and then I bring them onto different machines. Unless something changed in your system, I would try standrad troubleshooting (repair permissions and delete prefs) and A.Pack the audio
Not to say I do not have machines running Tiger, but Tiger (particularly some of the newer versions) I find to be a PITA - around 10.4.6 or so there are weird security things happening which messes up installing software. In fact I just zeroed out my tiBook, and did not add some software that I forgot about until after 10.4.8 was on and it does not install. I would have to zero things out again. Install the software over 10.4.1 and then try again.
Unless you want the Universal Suite (which is good for most things except DVD SP which has issues) nope, no Tiger none of the new stuff, unless you have a few machines to play with

  • Video & Audio out of sync - Panasonic SD9

I'm having trouble importing video from my Panasonic SD9. I ran out and purchased iLife '08 since Apple has finally provided the means to import from the SD9, and, indeed, I finally can import & edit SD9 video. However, the video runs too fast...the audio is fine, however, and, as a result, is out of sync. The video looks the old silent movies, where everyone is moving just a bit too fast.
I'm going to try re-installing Quicktime, and trashing the prefs, too, but I'd like to hear some other suggestions.
    Thanks

    Okay, an update:
Trashing prefs did not fix the problem.
    Neither did re-installing Quicktime.
I shot some new video both at 24p & 60i, and the 24p is the same: fast video, out-of-sync with normal speed audio. The 60i won't import at all, just gives an error after importing the audio.

  • Does anyone know a fix for video being out of sync after publishing to Flash in Captivate 6?

I'm working in Captivate 6.0.2.325 on Mac OS 10.6.8. My Captivate file is just 10 slides, and 2 of them contain talking-head style video clips 30 - 40 seconds long.
Everything looks fine in Preview, but when I publish to Flash the video segments appear choppy and the audio is badly out of sync.
Also, I have one slide where the audio does not play after publishing, though it plays in Preview. It's a widget slide.
I have tried the fixes suggested in this forum. My Preferences slider is slid all the way to retain slide quality etc. I've tried changing Flash versions and forcing re-publishing of slides. I've tried copying all my slides into a new file. No luck.
I have spent approximately 6 hours trying to resolve this problem and I'm about at the end of my rope, so any suggestions will be much appreciated! I will have to insert LOTS more video segments to complete this project.
    Thank you!

    Thank you, Rod!
While researching frame rate I came across this helpful blog posting: Crazy about Captivate: Lessons Learned: Video and Resolution in Adobe Captivate
This is the line that caught my attention: "I discovered, after several experiments, that if you publish a course in Captivate as SCALABLE with a video inserted, no matter what the resolution, it makes the video look pixelated."
When I unclick the "scalable HTML content" button before publishing, the video is fine!
Big sigh of relief! Now I just need to figure out why audio won't play on one of the slides (it has an accordian widget, if that's relevant) and why I can no longer use Effects (I get the message, "Effect file is not valid")

  • Video/Audio out of sync

We have begun to notice a problem in streaming long videos
over an hour in mp4 format. Any videos we stream over an hour the
audio gets ahead of the video and after an hour you can notice it
pretty bad. We have a couple of videos that are actually 4 hours

click on a file locally and play it, it doesn't have this problem.
We can split the videos into 1 hour segments but we would like a

  • Audio out of sync AFTER importing

    Hello, how are you?
I've been searching for a solution for a while, but I can't seen to find any.
The thing is... I've been capturing some gameplay footage, with files that last an hour or even more.
When I watch the files in any player (Windows Media Player, VLC, Media Player Classic) they play fine, the audio and the video seems to be on sync and OK.
But after I import to Adobe Premiere, it just gets out of sync. Even when I watch in the Source Monitor, before dragging to the timeline.
It looks like there is a problem when conforming the audio.
But even the time duration is different from the original, there is some frames or even seconds of difference inside Premiere.
And this happens with different codecs, AVI (from FRAPS), H.264 (with AAC audio and MP3)...
I've tried cleaning the cache, deleting the software and reinstalling again, converting - everything.
Some are saying this is a recurrent bug on Adobe Premiere. Isn't there any fix or something that I could do?
It's really strange that the problems only occur AFTER importing. Outside of Premiere is fine, so there is no problem with the capture, right?
I would really appreciate if someone helps me. Thanks a lot!
PS: I have Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.
    Intel Core i7
    12 GB RAM
    GeForce GTX 580
    HD 2 TB 7200RPM

My problem is a bit different, though just as irritating.  I can't believe Adobe hasn't fixed this given how long since the original post has been up here.  I capture satellite programming from a professional c-band satellite every week.  I use good old fashion Quicktime to capture 30 minute programs for later broadcast.  Our job is to capture the video from the satellite, clip the commercials at the beginning and end of the program and then export a clean version as an MPEG2 file.  Quicktime provides two capture settings: high (which provides a very large ProRes file in 16bit stereo) or medium (which provides a manageable H264 file in AAC stereo).  Both are Quicktime files.
While I don't have sync issues with the ProRes file, the file that is captured using H264 and the AAC stereo gets pushed out of sync by just enough frames to make it necessary to fix. This is adding about 2 to 3 hours of studio time each week to our production given we have to process about a dozen of these files. Viewing the original quicklime files using the newest version of quicklime or the old Quicktime program and most other video players yields a perfectly in-sync experience; it's just when it's imported into Premier Pro CC 2014 that the sync. problem appears.  One solution that has worked is taking the master file and exporting it again as a .dv file, but this actually takes longer than fixing the sync issue within Premiere. My guess is it may be the AAC audio process that may be the problem.
We only started using Premiere a few months ago and are already re-evaluating whether we should return to FCP.  We were really like most of the Adobe apps within Creative Cloud, but we use Premiere to much to put up with such a major flaw. I do wish Adobe would monitor some of these forums; they have no idea how customer service plays a key role for future software purchases.

  • Audio out of sync after Log and Transferring

So, I'm working on a project for school and I shot everything on a Panasonic HVX200 at 720p/24fps. I have everything saved onto a LaCie external and is connected via USB 2.0. When I go into Log and Transfer, all the clips look great and playback without a problem. But, after I "Add Clip To Queue" and try to play it back on the timeline or canvas, the audio is out of sync (it's almost twice as fast) and the video almost looks inferior.
Any advice would be great. I really want to start working on this project, since it's due Thursday afternoon.
    Thanks and regards,
    Christian

In the P2 Import window...in the P2 Browser, there is a little sprocket drop down menu. Click on that and choose PREFERENCES. Uncheck REMOVE PULLDOWN and then try importing again.

  • Audio out of sync after splitting clips

When I import a video file into PE11, everything is perfectly fine and synced up. After I split the clip and merge it in several places (removing commercials), the audio and video for the later clips seem to drift out of sync by about half a second. The video and audio are always linked together so there's no reason for it to be drifting.
I am able to manually unlink the clips and shift the audio back into place, however, this is an annoyance. I've tried working with several different video formats and so far, no luck. Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks.

You are correct, I'm using a Hauppauge HD-PVR2 Gaming edition to record and it works great!
I had been using MP4 files at 1920x1080, 29fps, 48kHz audio, etc. When I record with the Hauppauge, it automatically sets up the file to accomodate the source. Tried switching to M2TS files on the caputre and it made no difference.
Project settings seem to match the source:
It's just very strange audio and video are both fine until I edit it. Plenty of horsepower on my PC too: i5 3.2GHz Quad-core, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA graphics card (forget the model), WIn 7 64-bit.
    Thanks for the help!

  • Video/Audio out of sync / stutters at start and then jumps back into sync.

Everything appears fine in the Simulator and when played in the computer. However I have noticed on 2 different DVD Players that when the video starts the audio is out of sync for about the first 20 sec or so and then slides back into sync for the remainder. Seems to sort of lag.
I am exporting NTSC videos out of FCP and encoding via Compressor. I am using the Compressor presets (usually 120 min Fastest Encode).
    Anyone see this before?

Fixed. There was 5 sec video clip that plays before the main video in the track. However, the 5 sec clip was video only, not audio, and was as a .mov as opposed to mpeg2. Anyways I encoded the 5sec clip in mpeg2/AAC and added it before the main clips and everything works. Still don't know WHY it happened and why it stuttered, any ideas? Don't think it was the lack of black at the start as i didn't add any.
