Video/Audio out of sync

We have begun to notice a problem in streaming long videos
over an hour in mp4 format. Any videos we stream over an hour the
audio gets ahead of the video and after an hour you can notice it
pretty bad. We have a couple of videos that are actually 4 hours
long. The original files do not have this problem. If we double
click on a file locally and play it, it doesn't have this problem.
We can split the videos into 1 hour segments but we would like a
solution to our problem and not a way around it/
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Blake

  • My videos play with video/audio out of sync in itunes, what gives?

All of my itunes video library, including those purchased from the itunes store, play with the video/audio out of sync.  However, if I use Quicktime, they play fine. I just noticed this recently with the latest update to itunes.

I found the solution using google search.  Basically you have to downgrade your itunes software to version 10.7 and rebuild your library.   Just type in iTunes audio/video out of sync on google search and you will find the solution I am talking about.   I didn't think it would actually work because supposedly apple knows what it's doing but not in this case.  Why they would put out a new version of itunes that makes none of your videos play right, even ones you purchased from itunes is beyond me but I'm sticking with version 10.7 for as long as I can.

  • Video & Audio out of sync after update

Ever since I updated my MacBook Pro to OS X Yosemite v10.10 last week, all videos are out of sync with the audio. It wasn't just on Safari while playing YouTube videos or DailyMotion videos, but also when playing videos files on my computer. For short videos, the audio is just a second ahead or behind the video, but for long films it can be minutes apart.
Does anyone else have this problem? Can anyone tell me what caused this and how can it be solved? Thanks so much!!!

I have the same issue and it started 3 days ago. This happens with anything I'm watching, netflix, huluplus, youtube, crackle, anything that has audio and video. The biggest issue is that it's also affecting iMovie and Final Cut pro X. This is a MAJOR issue given that I make a living editing video. I hope somebody can find a solution for this issue.

  • Exported quicktime files have video & audio out of sync

I am using FCP with a Sony HVR-Z1E. All seems ok in my edit etc but if I try to export my edit to a quicktime file using the quicktime conversion option the audio and video are out of sync on quicktime. If I export using quick time movie option, all is fine as this file is played back by FCP. I have tried different settings but I cant get the audio to be in sync with the video. My settings are HDV 1080i50 on my 15" Macbook Pro
    Thanks for any help
    Regards Alf

You can open your "quicktime movie" (not qt conversion) in quicktime player. Simply control click on the file in the finder and choose open with... Try that and let us know if the file is in synch.

  • Video/Audio out of sync / stutters at start and then jumps back into sync.

Everything appears fine in the Simulator and when played in the computer. However I have noticed on 2 different DVD Players that when the video starts the audio is out of sync for about the first 20 sec or so and then slides back into sync for the remainder. Seems to sort of lag.
I am exporting NTSC videos out of FCP and encoding via Compressor. I am using the Compressor presets (usually 120 min Fastest Encode).
    Anyone see this before?

Fixed. There was 5 sec video clip that plays before the main video in the track. However, the 5 sec clip was video only, not audio, and was as a .mov as opposed to mpeg2. Anyways I encoded the 5sec clip in mpeg2/AAC and added it before the main clips and everything works. Still don't know WHY it happened and why it stuttered, any ideas? Don't think it was the lack of black at the start as i didn't add any.

  • Video & Audio out of sync - Panasonic SD9

I'm having trouble importing video from my Panasonic SD9. I ran out and purchased iLife '08 since Apple has finally provided the means to import from the SD9, and, indeed, I finally can import & edit SD9 video. However, the video runs too fast...the audio is fine, however, and, as a result, is out of sync. The video looks the old silent movies, where everyone is moving just a bit too fast.
I'm going to try re-installing Quicktime, and trashing the prefs, too, but I'd like to hear some other suggestions.
    Thanks

    Okay, an update:
Trashing prefs did not fix the problem.
    Neither did re-installing Quicktime.
I shot some new video both at 24p & 60i, and the 24p is the same: fast video, out-of-sync with normal speed audio. The 60i won't import at all, just gives an error after importing the audio.

  • Video audio out of sync in imovie

I have been trying to record video directly in imovie '11 using my webcam in my macbook pro 10.6.8 but the audio/video gets really out of sync
I have tried to detach the video and I have tried optimizing it but neither has worked...the video was only 4 min long
the video is 720p and the frame rate is 30
    what am I doing wrong?

Can you see breaks in the audio waveform? See image:

  • Video - Audio out of sync on long clips - CC 7.2.2

When I import long DivX-encoded videos (90+ minutes), video-audio is synced perfectly near the start of the clip.
But 60 minutes in, the audio is about 1-second ahead of the video - like a badly-produced Kung Fu movie from the 1970s.
Near the end of the clip it is even worse.
I have been Unlinking clips so I can move audio and video independently, but it has tripled the time required to complete a job.
Any idea how to resolve this?

Thanks for the speedy reply and the link.
I would like to try converting to a different format  -  I expect to lose some quality but that's ok.
Can you recommend a couple formats to convert to?  And, even better, the names of some apps that are up to the task?  :-)  I can google around looking for them but it costs nothing to ask.
    Thanks again John!

  • Video / Audio out of Sync - Export

    Greetings,
I've been reading through these forums for over a week now and I just can't seem to fix my problem, so I decided to try a topic myself.
    My issue is the following:
    - After creating a sequence and exporting it into an x264 format, which matches the source media (CBR, codec doesn't matter, tried it with several), it seems that my sound and/or video is desyncing.
I'm exporting in CBR so there should be no fluctuations in bitrate, yet it seems that when the video stands still for a while, let's say a loading screen, it gets shortened tremendously and thus the video runs in front of the audio.
This effect happens no matter what I do. I have tried a clean install, deleting scratch files, clearing the media cache, etc.
The problem does NOT occur on Sony Vegas or even Windows Movie Maker.
It seems as if stand still screens just get their duration reduced, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
Since I'm absolutely out of ideas on what could cause this, I hope you guys can help me.
    Regards
    EDIT:
Just to clarify the problem, the video runs faster than the audio. No matter if CBR or VBR, same FPS as source.

I just tried to edit those informations in my original post but it seems you were quicker on the draw so I can no longer edit it.
    Here's the information.
    Source Video:
Type: AVI Movie (Codec x264vfw, Lagarith or any, doesn't matter)
    Image Size: 1920 x 1080
    Frame Rate: 29,97
    Total Duration: 00:20:39:12
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1,0
    Exported Video:
Total Duration: 21:06 (that's okay considering I'm adding an intro and outro)
    Image Size: 1920 x 1080
    Bitrate: 7097kbit/s
    Frame Rate: 29.97
    Sequence Setting:
    (match source)
    Timebase: 29.97
    Frame Size: 1920x1080
    Pixel Aspect: 1.0
    Field: Progressive
Display: 30 FPS Drop Frame Timecode
    Audio: 48000Hz (same as recording)
    Display: Audio Samples
    Preview: (doesn't matter)
    Composite in Linear Color
    Windows 7 64bit
    Adobe Premiere CC
    16GB RAM
    i7-3770k
    Nvidia GeForce GTX690
    Export Settings:
    Match Source
    1920x1080
    29.97 FPS
    Progressive
    Square Pixels
    NTSC
    Main
    4.1
Bitrate Encoding: CBR, 7Mbps (doesn't matter what I choose here, it always desyncs as soon as a picture stays still for a while, accelerating the actual footage and skipping ahead)
Key Frame Distance: 90 (doesn't matter, tried 0, didn't work)
    EDIT:
I know the issue must lie with the actual encoding.
Previews of the video are perfectly syncd and rendering the same files in Sony Vegas works perfectly.

  • Video & Audio out of sync using iMovie and Photo Booth

I just bought a NEW iMac this month and I am trying to record a 5 min clip. during play back in iMovie and photo booth the video looks slow and its not synced with audio until the clip is at around 4:30.
I am using the internal mike and built in camera.
Its a new computer with plenty of space in it and no new programs.
I have looked through the threads on this sight but cant find my issue.
    Please Help.
    thank you,
    Kelly

    Hello G E2
You have made a good start and already considered a couple of the most likely possibilities that could have caused your problem:
     • CPU performance settings and
     • multiple apps running
re: CPU performance setting: I am not certain, but your MBA may run even faster when it is connected to power that when running on battery, even with the processor performance setting configured for best performance. If you are not already running on AC power, do a test while plugged in and see if that helps.
re: multiple apps: Consider the possibility of background widgets or apps that might be running. If you have not already tested this way, restart your Mac to eliminate possible widgets, quit all startup items, verify that Spotlight is not your indexing disk, and verify that no Time Machine backups are running. Then test video recording again.
If you do not get your problem corrected otherwise, consider the relevant suggestions in this list of possibilites regarding A/V recording sync issues:
      http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7089133&#7089133
Some of them may not be relevant to your MBA, but you may find something helpful there.
If your problem is as bad after any actions you try from that list, when you post back for other ideas, give the details of any new info you found as a result of the additional checks / tests / actions. We will try to offer detailed suggestions in reply to your specific new info and questions.

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 - Video playing faster than audio - Out Of Sync?

Hi All, It's been some time since I've had to write about any problems here. Sooo, I've got Adobe Premiere Pro CC 7.2.2.  (Using AJA KONA IoExpress BoB)   I've imported a 5 minute AVI file (video=1920x1080, Data=65587kbps, Total=66355kbps, 30fps. - - -  Audio=768kbps, Channels=Mono -and/or- Stereo, 48kHz)  from my Livestream HD-500 Digital Recorder as I have been doing successfully for some time now.. .   The video file plays just fine using windows media player but when I inport into a new project. The visual Video is out of sync. Seems like the Video is playing about 1/3rd faster then the normal audio.  Any thoughts? -  -  -  -  -  -  P.S. Here is a (520mb file) public link of a 1min.40sec. Clip using GoDaddy's FileFolder:
    https://files.secureserver.net/0suHs98nozqsKz
Here's a 20 second clip from last weeks trial-run-test using exact same configuration that worked just fine:
    Online Storage - Download File
    UPDATE - Problem Solved
So i got a call from AJA (the Manufacturer of my IoExpress Break out Box for Premiere)
    Here's the Scoop:
    1. When Programs "AutoUpgrade" it's common for some or all Settings to revert to their Default Settings.
    2. Adobe Premiere CC auto-upgraded yesterday when I wasn't looking... (paying attenion)
    3. In Premiere, Preferences>Playback>AudioDevice was reset back to "AdobeDesktopAudio".
    4. I reset the reset back to AJA KONA IoExpress, and WALLA! It Works Great!
I hope this post will help others stuck in this  seemingly unfixable situation.  My clients will be very happy today. :-)

Just for some reinforcement on this subject, these are the settings recommended by Aja for running their hardware in CC 2014:
Make sure you audio is configured like this:
    1. In your MacPro System Preferences:
Set the input for Line in.
Set the output for Built in.
    2. In your PremierePro Preferences:
Set the Audio Hardware for Built-in Output.
Set the Audio Output Mapping for Built-in Output.
Set the Playback for Audio Device on the KONA audio.
You will likely have to reboot after making any changes.
We are running Kona 3, 3G and I/O 4k systems and this basic setup is needed for all our systems or we have intermittent audio playback issues.

  • Photo Booth Audio and Video are out of sync?

Hi. So there is this glitch that when I take videos on Photo Booth the audio and video are out of sync. This started after I upgraded to Mountain Lion, and since I use Photo Booth a lot, I really do care. Is there anyway that I can fix this until Apple fixes this bug? Thanks.
Extra Info: The first video I took was not out of sync, but after that they got more and more out of sync.

I've read all the forums. It's a big problem for most Photobooth users, Apple acknowledges it, but does not yet have a fix.
The best solution I have come up with is to dump Photobooth (I know - it was a great program, wasn't it? But so was Hypercard) and use Quicktime to make videos. You'll have to spend a little more work savings or exporting, but at least Quicktime is free.
Just open Quicktime Player and under the File menu you'll see "Record New Movie."
    The downward slide continues...

  • How do i replace video without putting all of audio out of sync?

    hello,
i am trying to replace a video clip with an alternative clip while keeping the original audio, but everytime i select a clip to replace, it does so but puts the audio out of sync starting from where i inserted the clip...help!
    Thanks,
    steven

First, go into iMovie/Preferences and make sure that the Advanced Tools are enabled.
Next drag and drop the alternate clip from the Event to the frame in the project where you want it to start. A pop-up menu will come up. Choose "Cutaway".

  • Audio and video is out of sync!

when I record audio and video together with my isight built in camera on my macbook pro with either quicktime pro, photobooth or imovie, when I play the clip back the audio and video is out of sync! like watching a kung foo movie. I've tried everything, I've taken my book into see a "Genius" at thew mac store and he said to me that the isight is made really for video conferencing and is really not supposed to be fully in sync? Uhh thats weird, so mac makes a product and puts it on all their laptops and it only sort of works?? I've been on the phone with apple care, did a bunch of things like disk utility repairs on permisions, then used the startup disk to do another permisions repair. I've uninstalled quicktime pro and re-installed it a couple of times? If anyone could give me some advice that would be great! I'm a little frustrated as you can probably see! thanks
    cheers

    Welcome to Apple Discussions, m
See if any of the suggestions offered here reduce your sync quality problem enough:
      http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7089133&#7089133
If, after making certain that your Mac is running well, has plenty of free space on the correct drive, etc., your sync is still not close enough, you can manually re-sync any parts that are unacceptable to you using either QT Pro or iMovie.
If you check carefully, you will see that not even pro video is always perfectly synced. It is a lot of work to get things "nearly perfect," but, with a bit of practice, it doesn't take long to get things "close enough" for me.
I use the same simple process with either QT Pro or iMovie, so you can use whichever you find easiest. Whichever you use, keep the original AV clip safe and *_work on a copy_* in case something goes wrong.
If you do not already know how, here is my process, but you can adjust for your workflow:
    (1) Copy of the audio track.
    (2) Add the audio track copy to the AV file.
    (3) Silence the original audio and work on audio copy.
    (4) Insert small blank audio clips (or split and slide if using iMovie) if needed to make the audio later.
    (5) Cut small bits out of quiet parts (or split and shorten in iMovie) if needed to make audio sooner.
    (6) Repeat until satisfied and delete any tracks no longer needed.
    (7) Save the adjusted AV file.
    (8) Enjoy!
