Video/Audio speed unsynced

The audio seems to play at a slightly higher speed than the video in Ae.
You don't notice it in the beginning, but after just under 40 min it reaches a few seconds. It's not relative to where you begin the preview, but to the work area.
No difference between auido and RAM preview.
Some of the material is in the ever-dreaded .mp4 format, but the problem occus for .avi aswell.
The problem is not composition-specific, as a separate composition, with only one 40-minute long avi layer, has the exact same problem.
I have not been able to determine wether it's the auido that's too fast or the video that's slow. It appeared quite recently, so it's not something with the files themselves.
Ae CS6.11.0.0378, I think
Demo version
7,9 g ram allocatable
Win7 proffesional
Only .avi and .mp4, can't tell much more than that
And don't tell me to extract the audio and add it separately. I wan't to solve the problem, not circumvent it.
Also, don't be suprised if i've just missed some obvious part of how it's supposed to work. I'm still quite new to this.

Thanks, dave. Correcting it screwed up my frame-frozen layers a bit, and crashed my after effects a couple of times (with an 17:18 error message that reappeared as soon as I removed it) before I got around to convert some of the mp4:s to avi, but in the end it seems to have worked.
" yes, that tiny-little variation makes a difference."
I'm not at all suprised. In fact, I suspected that it was a centimal or so that was the problem.
"I'd like to know how you're RAM Previewing a clip that's "40 FLIPPIN' MINUTES LONG"
It's really quite short.(Edit: 00:03:16:??) It's just that I accidentally placed it near the end of a 40-minute work area, and haven't found ot how to move the entire composition. Sorry if I confused you.

  • Video's become unsynced with audio track

I have downloaded a few videos and used the conversion utility in iTunes, but still find that on longer videos, the video track becomes unsynced to the voice track. Is there a remedy?

Quite frankly I think the conversion function for movies in itunes is just about worthless. in my opinion, if it works, it takes longer and produces larger files that look worse than other conversion programs. I would try using a program such as isquint, or mpeg streamclip to name a couple, as an alternative. Back you your actual question though.
There is a program called QT sync that runs on os x which will allow you to adjust audio/video sync problems. If you're using a pc I'm sure there's equivalent software available.

  • Video & Audio unsynced after update-Vision M:3

Hi,I'm experiencing unsynced video and audio with my player when I was waching a movie that I paused. I needed to watch that movie from the beginning to avoid this problem. So, I've updated my player and it seems that the update is not helping either. The movie's video and audio are unsynced as I started watching. I just need to know what should I do because it really bothers me. Please help!

I use AVS Video Converter from http://www.avsmedia.com/. I think it costs about $30 if I remember right. It converts practically?everything that isn't protected. They even have presets for the Zen Vision, although not for the Vision:M or Vision:W. However, it lets you easily make your own presets. The program is fast and very easy to use once you learn it. However, there is a bit of a learning curve. It has a good, simple interface but they don't hold your hand. The help is also very good. I've been using it for about 2 years and I'm glad I have it. By the way, I'm a customer of theirs and I don't get anything out of posting this. Barry?

    Hi,
Error 7 is when a router or the connection to the router is broken in some way.
Some devices have features such as Denial Of Service protection (DoS) that cut a particular Internet Port when it thinks too much data is coming (Presuming it is an attack.)
iChat 5 in Leopard is not capped by the System Preferences > Quicktime Streaming speed (which we used to suggest was set at 1.5Mbps)
It now sees your whole Connection speed and your Upload may be much faster than this.
Your Download is likely to be much faster. However iChat will tend to operate at the lower figure of your Upload.
    DoS features are threshold based.
You may now be bumping in to this Threshold where you were not before.
SPI (Stateful packet Inspection) does a different job but has the same effect when it is overloaded by the speed of the data.
If you have either of these features, turn them Off (Disable them)

  • Video/audio Stuttering on Macbook 13

    Hi All
I have a mid 2007 Macbook 13 running OS X Lion 10.7.4.  all up to date.  Initially I had 4G's of ram ( I know it only reads 3 ) now I have it running on only 2.
Problem is video/audio stuttering when running movies. mostly netflix and or connected to a flat screen tv. on wireless or wired connection.  but it also happens just running youtube videos or videos that I have on the system mostly in .AVI format.   I could be running movies with VLC or quicktime and same ting.  I've tried turning every running program off.  like firewall, little snitch, sophos AV, etc.  after turning them all off I do a restart.  I have done permssion repair, checked the disk, run the daily scripts,  even downgraded to SL to see if Lion was too much for the system and nothing.  of of the 4G's of ram that I have.  I swapped them to see if maybe one or 2 of them ware bad.  when I install the operating system, I do a clean install.  delete partition, format, the whole thing and bring it up to date.  not all at one time.  disk permissions repaired after each big updated.  almost half the time the videos will run ok and than it starts stuttering.  when is doing it.  not even the mouse responds in those few seconds.  is like something is grabbing all the system memory for a few seconds at a time.  it has gotten to the point that the system completly frezzes and I get that black translusent window that says the system needs to be restarted.
I have about 40% free HD space.
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The behavior you mention is typical of MacBooks with the GMA 950 video chipset and 64MB VRAM.
The best solution I've found is to quickly pause the video and let the video load completely before watching, IF the website allows it and will preload the content. Not all of them do. Some sites automatically buffer before they begin playing.
Watch in a window rather than full-screen.
Watch content on your MacBook screen rather than a HDTV.
The Safari Extension "ClickToFlash" lets you choose whether to load Flash content at all. It also allows 'preferring' H264/HTML5 web video content when available, and seems to be a bit better than simply defaulting to Flash content for every website.
I have a mid-2007 MacBook 2,1 with 4/3GB RAM. It is the very oldest model capable of supporting Lion. After reading of performance issues with these older systems in these forums, I chose to remain on Snow Leopard rather than upgrading to Lion. Snow Leopard runs most things I do very well in 3GB. Lion really seems to need 4GB and would like 8GB, from what I read here.
You don't mention how fast your internet connection is. A faster internet connection MIGHT help some. A wired Ethernet connection MIGHT offer a bit more throughput than WiFi. Worth trying out, especially if you have a friend with a faster connection where you can try before you pay to upgrade.
Ultimately we're talking about 5-year-old computers. That's "ancient" in computer life cycles, and the best solution (not most cost-effective) is a new(er) Mac. It's not a problem unique to Mac. Old Windows XP systems lack the performance of new hardware running 64-bit Windows 7.
New or recent Refurbs with 4GB or more RAM, faster video chipset, more VRAM, faster clock-speed, Intel "Sandy Bridge" (or "Ivy Bridge" likely coming soon) dual-core or quad-core processor, and, yes, a hefty pricetag to match. Anything else is at best a temporary measure to buy a bit of time (a year, maybe?) until you can purchase a new(er) faster better Mac.

  • Video / Audio / Screen Share have all stopped working...

I've got two business partners in remote locations. All three of us are on MacBook Pros. Mine's several years old, but theirs are both new. We're all using MacOSX 10.5.6 and iChat 4.0.7. All three of us have been able to do video, audio and ScreenShare with no problem up until last week. To the best of my knowledge, none of the three of us has had a hardware change or a software change. We can chat fine.
Every time any of us tries to initiate video, we get "Waiting for Response"... then "Starting Video" when he accepts... then "There was a communication error during your chat"... "Did not receive a response from X" when in fact he is clicking accept.
Enable Screen Sharing / Video / Audio is all selected in the iChat video menu. Based on previous threads I'd read, we've also tried the System Preferences / Sharing settings, unchecking "Remote Management" and checking "Screen Sharing". Nothing's helped so far.
One of us is on a Linksys router (me), one on an Airport and one on a Netgear router. Again... all worked fine until last week. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Skippy,
    Welcome to the    Discussions
It is difficult to say what is going on here and three people with different routing devices all seem to have the same problem at the same time.
My firts thought would be that if the routers are doing DHCP to the LAN (computers) and that POrt Forwarding was also used the IP the computer has may have changed and the Port FOrwarding will not be pinting to the IP the computer now has.
However this is unlikely with three devices at the same time.
The Netgear is also probably doing UPnP by default and therefore not doing Port Forwarding.
Te Linksys can do UPnP but needs it Enabled.
The Airport does something called Port Mapping Protocol (Apple's version of something similar to UPnP) and needs it turned on.
Again it seems strange that buddy to buddy individually you are all having issues.
Are you all using the same ISP ?
Has there been a Speed bump in service ?
From Table 1 can any of reach the Apple test accounts ? (Uue the ones that end in @mac.com)

  • Final cut pro - editing music video audio falls out of sync

filmed with canon 7D- i play the music in the background for th artist to perform. upon loading up the footage into final cut, i sync the start of the video audio with the record, as they both play it falls out of sync. i did not have this problem when i edited with premiere. any ideas

Sync issues are *usually* going to be mismatched sample rates, for instance, you imported 44.1kHz audio into a 48kHz project.
This happened to me awhile back, and unfortunately, I don't remember exactly what I did to fix it. But what I *think* I did was click on the imported audio and went to the Retime menu and selected Conform Speed. If that doesn't work, right click on the audio in the event browser and select Transcode (if there's an option to do so in the dialog).
It is also possible to manually resync audio by Retiming it. Turn on snapping (N), select the clip, type Command-R and drag the audio clip's retiming handle until the end of the audio snaps with the end of the video clip (this is actually amazingly accurate.) [If your recorded audio is not the same length of the audio on the video, then set markers on the video and audio tracks and retime until the markers snap.] You should do this before any other edits.

  • Audio is unsynced after encoding

I couldn't find help after a forum search, so I thought I'd ask here...
When I use the Media Encoder, I find that when I convert my footage -- Quicktime Video/wav 24-bit audio -- into MPEG2 video/MPEG 16-bit audio, the audio is unsynced. Any suggestions?
If I encode it into separate mpeg video and pcm audio files, it seems that the audio is synced. Just not when I create a single, multiplexed mpeg file.

    > I need to send trailers to others (for general viewing)....
I didn't see the following point specifically made in this thread or your parallel thread in the Encore forums, where I think you said you are emailing the trailers. It has been a while since I have received an actual movie attached to an email; put the trailer on the web and send a link in the email. Then use flash for the trailer.

  • Best Video/audio format to upload to YouTube

Please recommend best Video/audio format to upload to YouTube, for a) upload speed, b) picture and sound quality.

Emailing video can be a real drama.
You can easily convert YouTube video if you have the free software MPEG Streamclip: http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
Download version 1.9.3b4 and install in your applications.
Open then File > Open URL and copy/paste the YT clip address.
Then File > Export to QuickTime and select Apple Intermediate Codec for the compression.
The converted file will import into iMovie.
    Regards, Z.

  • Video audio problems

The problem I am having is that i capture my video/audio by fire wire using a PV-GS250 panasonic camcorder and a firepod that I record audio with. The problem comes in that it seems over time the two aren't sinced. I line up the to and match up the sounds. Say at 1 minute in. Then I go to 1 hour our and the audios are off from each others. I turned off auto save in premiere. Went in msconfig and turned off several things that where starting up. Both audios are 16 bit 48, one is mono and the other stereo. Using Windows Vista sp1. 4 gigs ram, 8700 video with 512 ram, processor intel core 2 xtreme x9000 @ 2.8ghz. I don't have any drop frames and can't find anything wrong. Help, thanks Dave..

The problem is that audio device manufacturers, for some reason that I'm sure would be entirely illogical, can't seem to make devices that record at the same exact rate as DV cameras. I don't know why they can't do this. DV camera makers build cameras that keep sync with each other all the time. I can find no theoretical reason why audio device makers can't build recorders that also keep sync with DV cameras, except that they're just not trying.
So it's not your fault, Dave. The only thing you can do is adjust the speed of the audio clip to match. With my equipment, the adjustment turns out to be 100.04%, so it's a very small shift. No one will ever notice any pitch difference.

  • IChat video & audio chat with AIM user not working

    Hi all,
I have a mobileme account. A friend has got a new Macbook with 10.5.5 and signed up for an AIM account. We've tried to do video chat (over the internet) with iChat 4 and cannot establish a session in either direction. It gets to the "Starting video chat..." part and then fails, telling us "did not recevie a response from ..."
Audio chat doesn't work for us either.
Video & audio chat works fine locally via Bonjour for us. It's just over the internet (through a NAT router if that matters) that multimedia chat does not function.
    Any ideas?

Yes, I have set the streaming speed to 500 on both mine and her end to no avail. I've also tried port 443, and we also tried using a jabber server (with google talk accounts). I didn't expect the jabber thing to work, as it's free and video/audio/screen sharing use non-trivial bandwidth.
I have not been able to do video, audio, or screen sharing with her at all. But I know these features work, as I have used them on my local wireless network via bonjour.
    Only bonjour...
Do both of us have to be paying customers of MobileMe to get video chat over the internet? It seems like only one should suffice...

  • Video/Audio via Internet

What is the required download and upload speed (kbps) in order to conduct video/audio sessions in iChat via the Internet?

Skype does not yet support video on the Mac, so the best you can do Mac to PC on Skype right now is audio to audio.
Using the iSight camera as the Skype microphone often doesn't work very well, so you probably would be better off using a built-in microphone (if you have one) or an external USB microphone like the Logitech USB Desktop Microphone.
If you want to discuss it further, you can try video connecting to my Mac at [email protected]
