Video auto rotate

Hi
I fully appreciate the work that has gone into BT Sport, it's a very promising start and I welcome anything that will reduce the strangle hold Sky has on the provision of sport in the UK.
One question: The auto rotate feature on my iPhone does not work, worse is that when, in wide screen mode, the picture is upside down and won't rotate.  I say upside down, as I hold me phone in my right hand and cup the speaker, so that the sound is directed by my palm towards me.
Is there a reason why the auto rotation does not work?  What logic was used to decide which way up the picture would be displayed?  Could this be changed?  Could the auto rotate feature be added?
Many thanks Noel

Noel,
Not sure if this is an iphone app problem as my Note 2 auto rotates np at all.
sky twitter account a customer ask why sky go streams are worst then sd and yet bt and eurosports apps stream in hd. Reply from mod, oh thats easy the files for hd are some huge that sky go can't play them and no app can stream hd due to this and so when they say they are they're really sd streams, if there was any way around this we would have done it now.

  • N86 8MP Video Auto Rotate?

When I use Video Mode on my N86 8MP, the image rotates as the camera does, so if I change from horizontal (landscape) orientation to vertical (portrait) orientation, the video ends up being sideways. Is there a setting so when I change the orientation of the camera all I change is capture area?
In Still Image mode you can turn Auto-Rotate On and Off, bt I can't seem to find this setting in Video Mode.

  • Has anyone experienced the mute switch / auto-rotate switch iOS bug on their ipad?

Has anyone experienced the mute switch / auto-rotate switch iOS bug on their ipad?
I have experienced this on iPad 1 as well as iPad 2.
Basically, when you set the side switch to toggle screen orientation (or mute), after a period of use I will have either my sound cease to function or the ipad screen will not orient correctly.  This depends on what i have chosen the side switch to toggle.  I am not sure what causes it.  The time it takes for the problem to appear is inconsistent. Some say it is caused by third party applications.
One can find numerous threads on here if you search for "sound on my ipad stopped working" or "orientation not working".  It appears to be the same problem. Fudging with the toggle switch settings can fix it (but it takes a weird order to get it out of its non functioning loop).
Here is a thread that addresses the sound issue:  https://discussions.apple.com/message/15263298#15263298

Its only for notifications.. it is not for sound from videos or music!

  • Auto rotation lag in home and lock screens

Currently my ipad mini 2 is experiencing a minor bug on its rotation. I have tried to reboot, force reset, erase the device and even restore the device through itunes. The auto rotation is extremely slow only on homescreen and lockscreen. The problem will be solved only hard reset or reboot is done, but after a period of time of usage (few hours), the problem occur again which is permanent until the next reboot is performed. The current iOS version is on 8.1.3. I have also found one of the display unit in an outlet, which is ipad mini 3, having the same issue. Is this a software issue or hardware? I have tried to send my ipad into the service centre, the problem still exists. The video provides an evidence for about the problem reported. Thanks. http://youtu.be/xsseXJNxOAo

Thanks for posting the video of the issue. Is this after restoring from a previous backup or from a restored as new state? If you're using a previous backup to restore the device, I would personally test the device fully from a restored as new state. If the issue only occurs when being restored from a backup, the issue is likely with the backup. Sometimes, backups can contain odd glitches that can't be resolved except for not using that backup.
I do find it very odd that you found a display unit that also had the same issue however.
Try enabling the "Reduce Motion" setting under Settings/General/Accessibility
Also try enabling "Reduce Transparency" under Settings/General/Accessibility/Increase Contrast
These two settings seem to generate the biggest performance hit on the fluidity of the screen rotation. I'm not saying they will help or resolve your issue however since that kind of lag is something I've never seen before, even on my mini 1 (I now have 2 mini 2's).

  • HT2488 Hot to auto-rotate movie files

Hello, I have a relatively simple operation that I can't seem to figure out using automator:  I want to create a droplet that rotates any movie files selected by 180 degrees. I can do this manually using QuickTime 7, not QT X, but it's tedious for multiple files.
Manually, I open the movie file (a ProRes clip) in QT7, hit command J to open movie properties.
    Select 'Video Track'
    Select 'Visual Settings' tab.
Click on the rotate 90 degrees button (either rounded arrow) twice.
    Then save, exit and repeat.
Is this possible to do in automator?  I've looked into other auto-rotating programs, but they all involve re-rendering and way too much time and diskspace for what is a very simple operation in QT7.
Any thoughts on the matter are greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Josh

Paste this into AppleScript Editor, save it as an Application, drop some movies on it.
    on open theFiles
        try
            repeat with afile in theFiles
                tell application "QuickTime Player 7"
                    open afile
rotate document 1's track "Video Track" by 180
                    close document 1 with saving
                end tell
            end repeat
        on error errMsg number errNum
display alert errMsg & return & return & "Error number" & errNum buttons "Cancel"
        end try
    end open

  • Since my last software update the auto rotation on both my ipad air and my iphone 5c won't work. I have tried everything, including; checking the auto-lock - it isn't on lock. I've checked the settings in the Control Centre and they're as they should be.

Since my last update the auto rotation on both my ipad & my iphone has stopped working. I've done all the usual stuff to correct it but no joy. I've reset, rebooted, turned off then back on, checked all settings including those for the side switch and everything is as it should be except the rotation still doesn't work. There are no open apps, movies or videos that could be locking the screen so I am now totally stumped.
    Any suggestions please?

The fact that gs.apple.com was in your host file to begin with is an indicator that your computer was used to jailbreak or hack an iOS device at some point in the past. You can not get help here for a hacked or jailbroken device. If your phone was hacked or jailbroken, Apple won't touch it.
RecBoot and Tinyumbrella are hacking tools.
    Google "iPhone DFU mode".
Try restoring in DFU mode. If that doesn't fix it, make an appointment at the genius bar and see what Apple has to say about it.

screen do not rotate while iam physically rotate device, also "lock auto-rotate" button do nothing and button of locking rotate missing in brightness in right settings panel.
full reset doesnt help, how turn auto rotate  on?

    Hello romka18.
I am sorry you are having trouble with the auto-rotate.
To turn on auto-rotate, bring up the charms by swiping from the right hand side and search on "resolution". You may need to select that you are searching within "Settings" and not "Apps".  One of the settings for resolution is "Adjust Screen resolution", please select that and it will take you to a screen that has a checkbox that lets you enable "Allow the screen to auto-rotate".
There is a good 2 minute video of this on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtiuFLyoGoA uploaded there by Jeffrey Lush.

  • Blackberry Torch 9810 auto-rotating not working !

Hello guys my friend just bought a Blackberry Torch 9810 few weeks ago , only two weeks I think.
And yesterday she found out that the auto-rotating doesn't work - that is the first time she tried to rotate the phone because she want to stream a video.
Hard or Soft reset has been done , reboot has been done , sliders not open , no rotation lock apps has been installed.
Is this the sensor problem ? I mean , the phone is like brand new and just bought two weeks and the sensor got problem so fast ?
If anyone knows that exact and working solution please help ~
    Thank you.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

It could be...any device designed, built, and operated by humans is subject to a defect rate greater than zero. But, at an internet distance, it is of course impossible to provide an actual diagnosis, especially if the problem indeed is hardware. Only in hand evaluation by a qualified technician can truly diagnose a hardware problem.

  • Yoga 8 and 10 Tablets - KitKat 4.4.2 - Auto-Rotation

After upgrading to KitKat 4.4.2, some customers report auto-rotation does not always occur while changing modes on their Yoga 10 tablet (B8000-F/H). Reports include the Lenovo Launcher home page, Facebook, and SolMail. Hard resets do not resolve the issue.
Please note that Lenovo has escalated internally on this issue. I was able to reproduce these reports on a KitKat 4.4.2 V24 build. I noticed slow auto-rotate and I quickly developed a habit of automatically "shaking" the device one time when changing the mode to force the auto-rotation.
These reports originated from this thread: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Android-based-Tablets/KitKat-roll-out-for-Yoga-Tablets-starting-Jun...
Note: This has only been reported by Yoga 10 Tablet users. If this is occuring on your Yoga 8 Tablet, please let me know so I can escalate it for the Yoga 8.

The  box that shows " auto rotate' doesn't have a print preview.

  • Auto rotation is not working properly with iOS 7.1.2 upgrade

I recently upgraded my iPad to iOS 7.1.2 and noticed that auto rotation isn't functioning properly. How will this problem fix, will I have to wait till the next update ??
It takes too much time, or doesn't happen at all.
I have an iPad mini with retina display, 128GB storage.
    Thanking you in anticipation .

Try a reset and see if it fixes the problem. You will not lose any data.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
