  • Unsyncable video?  From iTunes?  Meets iPod Classic video spec!  Why not?

Lots of posts on this issue with plenty of versions of iPod but apparently no real answers other than "convert it" with third party software or iTunes. So, even though there are plenty of questions and answers, I'm going to ask it again but hope someone can also explain the technical reason why this happens.
According to Apple's iPod Classic Technical Specifications for the Classic, it is supposed to play the following video/audio:
    H.264, up to 1.5Mbps, 640x480, 30FPS, AAC-LC audio up to 160Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
    H.264, up to 2.5Mbps, 640x480, 30FPS, AAC-LC audio up to 160Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
    MPEG-4, up to 2.5Mbps, 640x480, 30FPS, AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
Fair enough. So I download a video from the iTunes Store and, using Quick Time "inspector", it reports the following specs for the video:
H.264, 1.05Mbps, 640x480, 21.96 FPS, AAC, 44.100kHz, Stereo, mp4. ALL of which are at or below the specifications above.
So, why is this video "out of spec" and can not be synchronized much less played on the iPod Classic especially when it was downloaded from iTunes??
Someone please explain why this fails.
    Thank you for the help,
    Kevin

Double check to make sure podcasts are configured to sync to your device from under the iPod's Podcast configuration tab.
To access the Podcasts tab for your iPod, plug your iPod in and click on it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will bring you to the Summary tab. Along the top you should see a Podcasts tab, so go ahead and click on it.  Here you can configure how and what podcasts sync to your iPod.
If you do make any changes to do this tab, make sure to hit the Apply button in the lower right hand corner to apply the update changes to your device.
Otherwise, are you getting any error messages when you sync your iPod Classic with iTunes?

  • Can't find music videos downloaded from iTunes on my iPod

Any ideas as to why I can't find the music videos I've downloaded from iTunes on my iPod?

I am currently using iTunes 7.5. I've made some music video on my own, I have converted the .dv format into .mp4 format. I first import the .mp4 files into the Movie library. But I cannot put these clips in the music video playlist the clips in the movie library. I then tried to import these clips again to the Music library. Nothing happened. I tried to copy the clips from the movie library and paste to the Music library, I could do the cut, but when I selected the music library, the paste command was gray out.
    What did I do wrong?

  • I have an ipod touch 1g ive seen online they have apps and they slide to diffrent creen to get to other apps my dosent slidde only hassafri ,calender, contacts, youtube, clock, calculator, settings, music, videos, photos, and itunes no maps plz help my firmware is

    HELP!!

You should be able to upgrade it to iPhone OS 3.1.3, if it's a 1st gen iPod touch.  This Apple article explains how to upgrade.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623
You'll need to use the second method, where is says Update your device using iTunes.
Once you have iPhone OS 3.1.3 running on the iPod touch, you should be able to access the App Store and download apps.  Some apps will not run, if later versions of "iOS" (such as iOS 4 and 5) are required.  The App Store (on the iPod touch) will prevent you from downloading incompatible apps.
It may be easier to download apps using the iTunes Store on your computer, then sync the apps to your iPod touch, because you have a larger screen to view the app's description.

  • Can't import video (.mp4) to itunes 10.5, pls help

I can't import video (.mp4 & .mov) to itunes 10.5.2.11 (can't both drag & down and add file to library).
I searched many ways to solve in google with myself , but still not work
    Pls help -.-"

MOV is a container format which may contain all kinds of codec, while iTunes only import MOV whose video codec is DV, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, or AIC.
Even if the MOV meet the above requirement and supported and playable in iTunes, it will still fail to sync to iPod/iPad/iPhone/Apple TV if the MOV video does not fit the specification like resolution, bit rate, aspect ratio, size, and audio codec of the iPod/iPad/iPhone/Apple TV.
In order to successfully import MOV to iTunes as well as sync MOV to Apple TV, iPod, iPhone, iPad, we have better convert the MOV video to a more compatible video format.

  • Recovery itunes library from iPod (help PLEASE)

So I was stupid and didn't back up my iTunes library, I've now lost it all apart from a 128gb iPod.
Can anyone PLEASE advise how to transfer those songs from my iPod back into my iTunes library (iMac running OSX Yosemite)?
Much appreciate any help that can be offered...
    Dan

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss.  To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • TS1474 Lost several albums *completely* from iTunes library AND iPod-HELP

Sooo I had been using my laptop for iTunes purchases, management, etc., and then the thing crashed and has never been revived. I decided to begin using the desktop computer to access iTunes instead, and in the process of syncing a new purchase to my iPod, somehow inadvertently lost several older albums that I had purchased earlier. Now when viewing my library on either iPod or iTunes library on desktop computer, they do not appear to be present. Are they truly gone? All that money spent..poof? Please advise!

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
It appears that the mess resulted in the iPod seeing the computer/iTunes library as a new computer/iTunes library. If you sync to a new computer your iPod gets erased and the media in the iTunes library ends up on the iPod.

  • Only one music video purchased from itunes is not playing on IPod

I purchased several music videos from itunes and they all seem to sync to my ipod just fine but one of them will not play. The other three I purchased is playing fine both visual and audio but only one will not play at all. When I click on it, the screen just goes black and after several seconds, returns me to the menu listing the name of the video. It plays on my daughter's ipod just fine and we both have the same IPod. I've tried to re-sync and reset but nothing seems to work. Can someone please help me. Thx!

It may be an authorization issue. Both iTunes and the iPod need to be up-to-date.
Usually, you need to play at least a part of songs purchased from the iTMS within iTunes to authorize them. They won't copy to your iPod until you do this.
How to transfer Purchased Music from iTunes to your iPod
    iTMS Song and Computer Authorization
If you've played & authorized them in iTunes and they still skip, try this. De-authorize the computer in iTunes/Advanced menu, then re-authorize it. You re-authorize it by playing one of the songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store within iTunes. It should ask you for your Apple ID and password, and then the computer will be authorized again. Sync your iPod with iTunes, and those songs should play on the iPod once again.
Another common cause of this is not having the latest version of iTunes.
If you are using the latest version of iTunes (6.0.4), then you need to make sure your iPod software is up to date also. Get the iPod Updater software, install it, run it and update your iPod.
When you have done this, authorize your music in iTunes by playing a few seconds of it within iTunes, re-sync your iPod, and it should transfer by whatever synching method you choose.
If the above 'standard' fixes did not help, then it's a bigger problem that I can diagnose...

  • Deleting podcasts from iTunes library AND iPod?!? HELP.

I have 61 podcasts on my iPod and in my iTunes library.
I didn't want them anymore, so I unsubscribed and deleted the podcasts from iTunes.
I synced to my iPod, assuming that the files would be automatically removed.
    But they weren't.
I've tried checking and unchecking "Sync only checked songs and videos" on the iPod device page.
I've tried checking "Sync all episodes of:.." and then not checking any podcasts.
It's not worked so far. My iTunes is up to date and everything..my iPod charged..
Im wondering HOW do you delete podcasts - or any other music, videos...etc - from your iPod and iTunes?
Please help! Reply soon, I'm in desperate need.
    Thanks.

  • I can't get my iPod Touch to connect to iTunes or my computer, help!?

I have the latest version of iTunes, an account, ect. And when I plug my iPod Touch into the computer it doesn't register/show up at all. My computer doesn't show a mobile/removable device, or anything with Apple, iPod, or anything of the sort. Neither does iTunes.
My iPod touch is an older model, but I don't know which one exactly. It was given to me by my sister in law, and she reset it to factory settings so it's a completely blank slate and I can't do anything with it other than turn it on and off.
I've tried EVERYTHING on this site : http://www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/assistant/itunes/
and even checked through some suggestions about drivers and things here in this help forum. I can't follow the steps because the drivers, or the device aren't showing up on my computer at all. Can someone please help me out here? I don't want to have this be a paper weight, I can't afford to buy a new one or anything.

try connecting the device in _*recovery mode*_, then restore from your backup.
also, make sure [_*Apple Mobile Device Service*_|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567] is installed and started.
