Video Cable Ripped ...Help

I've noticed that my Video cable is ripped on one side. Can this be fixed or does it need to be fully replaced? Does anyone know the part number o where I can order from?

it's likely just the black plastic covering the exposed cable and not the cable itself.   if your system is under warranty then it would be best to have service replace it.   otherwise, it may not be something to be concerned about.
if your system is no longer under warranty then you'll need to post the machine type and model number found on the bottom of your system to help determine the cable part number your system uses.   if it's a CTO model then post whether or not you have bluetooth.   please do not post your serial number.
there are various hardware maintenance manuals to help guide you through the process of changing the cable.   you can also visit the service training site to watch the process on video.
in any case, good luck!

i have the universal dock and a 30gb ipod with videos from itunes on it. i use the dock and a s-video cable but nothing comes up. i have the ipod tv settting on but nothing happens

Those videos play fine on your ipod? If yes, check to see if you select the correct input channel on your TV. Also check to see if your S-calbe has a broken pin.

• There's video problems with my Zen Vision:M already (M video cable related) Please help

Some background...
System:Windows XP with Service Pack 2.
Player: Brand new Creative Zen Vision: M with no firmware updates.
My Zen Vision:M has a problem (besides the scratch and fingerprint attracting top surface): It won't play videos on a TV screen when the M Video Cable (also from Creative) is linked to it anymore. It's only been a few hours...
I had the cable already, and got the player today. I let the player charge to /4th of a battery while I was setting up all the software. I ran the software programs just to take a peek, only changing the name of my player (to my name). I used Winamp 5.3 to put a music track on the player to test it. After that, I hooked it up to the VCR in my room through the white and yellow A/V plugs in front. It worked just fine. It to the tv a little large, but I was okay with it.
Later on today, the new AC charger I ordered came in the mail (Player came through UPS, charger through USPS). I looked at my old charger (Creative Zen Touch) and realized it would work with the plug-in part of the sync unit at the bottom. I tested it for a minute and it did. I still took it out and tried the new one. This is where, I think, something happened. I had to press the sides to get the thing in, and it was hard to come out. Everything still fit just right, and nothing seemed to be wrong. I used my old charger as I added more of my music library. Now it was on to videos. I had to convert the first two test vids (they were .wmv), but they played on my player fine. I put a bigger .wmv file onto the player to see if it had to convert it, and it did. It still played on the player. When I go to hook it to the TV with the A/V cord again, there was nothing but a black screen with the occasional diagonal scan line. The sound is still there.
Besides quirks with the navigational system, the player is still great for music and video. Still, I needed no video capability, and one of the things that made the ZVM a buy for me was watching my vids on the big screen. I'd return this for a second try, but I want to know if this is a recurring issue with you guys and if there's something I can do to fix it before a return. Did I mess with a setting? Should I get new firmware? Did I do wrong using my old charger? If any of you have an answer, or need more info on my situation, please let me know.
And BTW, does anyone know of some better software for organizing files on the ZVM? I used Winamp for my Zen Touch and the music on my ZVM, but videos are another ballpark. I can't transfer a video from one folder to another folder (assuming both folders are on the ZVM). Not to mention the music I transferred using Winamp isn't even showing up in Windows Media Player. I think I need a different program altogether.

I have got a new Creative Zen Vision W and getting the same problem....when i attach to the tv then i am able to hear the audio content and the video does not show. Are we missing something ? or is it a problem with the player. Also the software provided with the Zen converts small .vob files to .wmv when ever the size is large it gives an error 'conversion?unsucessful'.Any body facing similar problems please help.

• Creative zen vision m: video cable help!!! PLZZ

:smileyindifferent:hi, i reallly need to know how to connect the cable to the tv and the vision m.
i have tried it on many channels but i dont knw they dont work. do u have to
go to a speical place in the mp3 and click sumthin like connect to tv or what?
please if sum knws please help me!! im waitin for a reply.....:smileyindifferent:

The creative cable is not standard. You cannot use standard 3.5mm to 3xRCA AV cables. There are instructions on this forum on how to convert a standard AV cable to one that is compatible with the player.
More information on how the cable is wired is avaliable . Not my image, someone else on the forum created it, found it in this post.
There is an article on .
These are the instructions I followed to make my own cable from a standard AV cable. I can't remember who wrote it (Sorry who ever it is), so I don't pretend to take any of the credit for writing it:
Ok here is step by step (i don't have @ home atm digi photo, so i can't do shots)...
Things u'll need:
* AV cable ( 4pole mini jack -to-> 3 RCA yello', red, white)
* knife/scalpel/isolation removal tool...lighter can be a easiest way to remove isolation (when applied gently)
* isolation tape
terms:
GROUND (shield, minus, negati've) = outer wire in the cables, stronger one
HOT (plus, chnl,etc..) = inner smaler wire, caryin' signal
RCA (phonos, cynch,etc..) = those plugs u can find on most of the audio video equipment
MINI JACK (walkman jack, small banana) = can be mono, stereo or audio/video (4 poles)
It's your choice on what part of cable u want to do rewiring (close to the mini jack or close to the RCA's)
I'll describe here easier way (close to the mini jack):
- cutoff the cable close to the mini jack (leave jack with about 8-0cm of cable)
2 - remove isolation on all three cables from both sides (RCA's n mini jack)
- u should remove isolations (2-3cm) of shield/ground (outer wire) and from hot (inner wire)
- on the mini jack side: leave the RED one cable longer than yellow n white
3 - on the mini jack side: remove ground (outer wire) on YELLOW and WHITE cables and isolate
4 - on the mini jack side: remove isolation on the RED hot (inner wire) a bit longer, this is your new ground for all three RCA's, be careful that ground n hot on RED doesn't contatc so isolate em
5 - on the RCA's side: put/twist all three grounds into one wire
6 - wire RED from the jack side to the GROUND of RCA's side (look @ step 5)...isolate
7 - on the mini jack side wire RED cable's GROUND to the YELLOW's cable HOT on the RCA side, isolate
8 - on the mini jack side wire YELLOW cable's HOT to the RED HOT on the RCA side, isolate
9 - on the mini jack side wire WHITE cable's HOT to the WHITE HOT on the RCA side, isolate
0-isolate everythin' properly
enjoy ;-)

• Please confirm use of mini DVI-Video (s-video) cable with Macbook

Hi,
I have tried to use the Mini DVI-> Video cable with my new Macbook in order to be able to connect to my TV.
Unfortunately it doesnt work, I do get the resolution change when I plug in the cable but nothing on the TV. I went back to the local Apple center and they tested the cable on a Powerbook G4, it worked flawlessly. Then they tried a monitor on my Macbook's DVI port, it also worked.
But when trying the mini DVI to Video cable on the Macbook, no luck!
Can anybody please confirm they have used this cable and connected successfully to a TV?? Using either the s-video option or composite?
Thanks in advance!!!
Best Regards,
Thomas
G5 DP2.0, Macbook Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I can confirm that the s-video connection to a standard CRT TV using the mini-DVI video adapter does NOT work with my MacBook.
The display is detected, and when mirroring is enabled, the resolution on the MacBook display is adjusted, but the TV doesn't display the MacBook signal. Instead, I get a black screen or some random flickers of color. Following the instructions in the help files, I've adjusted the resolution down to its lowest level with no success.
My guess is that this is related to the fact that the integrated graphics relies on system RAM, and I am running my machine with the stock 512 Mb RAM it shipped with (2 GB are on their way).
On the off chance it would help, I even tried closing the display, in hopes that the memory savings from turning off the MacBook display would enable the TV signal, but no luck.
Thomas, how much RAM do you have in your MacBook?
Those of you who have been successful using external displays, are any of you using the stock 512 Mb RAM?

• Problem in connecting S-Video cable from T42 to my TV- Nothing showing in my TV

Hi ,
I need your help in S-Video cable . When i am connecting my labtop ( T42 ) to my panosonic TV ,my TV doesn't show the anything from my primary screen ( labtop ) , I tried to do everything all drivers, adapters and window updates etc. But still could not get the picture on my TV with S-Video cable.  Ihave tested S-video cable and it works fine for other labtop. Any help in this will be really appriciated.

you got to switch on the option for TV screen output from laptop, if you are using T42 with ATI graphics card, just get the latest Catalyst driver for ATI, it has an option for TV screen output.

• Is it necessary to shutdown when dis/connecting the S-video cable?

Well, the title says it all- do I need to shut down to connect (or disconnect) an S-video cable? The manual says nothing about shutting the machine down, which makes me think it's NOT necessary. Thanks in advance for the help!
CW

No, you don't need to shut down. Putting the PB to sleep before making or breaking the connection is a sensible precaution, but I don't think that's essential either. I've never used an S-Video connection with my PB, but I've connected and disconnected external monitors and projectors via the DVI port on my PB without shutting down or sleeping it first, with no ill effects.

• Component Video Cable and Bumper Case

Just a head's up. If you have an iPhone 4 and a bumper case, the Component video cable will not fit properly when the bumper case is on. It inserts, but the cutout that fits the standard USB cable is too small for the plastic part of the cable that is larger on the Component Video cable.
When I tried to plug it in, I did not notice this the first time and got the "This accessory is not compatible" message. I also got B&W video. When I took the case off and the cable seated securely, I was able to get 420p video from the video I took with the camera. NOTE - The Component cable only supports 420p when playing on an NTSC TV. I was also able to see YouTube at 420p. I did not try anything else.
Hope this helps some of you avoid frustration

Yes I do live in Europe. But who says that Component Video Cable is a standart from USA or Japan. I have been using Component Video Cables to connect my DVD Player with my video projector since 2002. Component Video Cables are wisely used in Europe. And its the ONLY analogue way of transferring HD-Video (Plus DVI and HDMI)
What disturbs me alot is that on www.toshiba-europe.com they explain that my computer has:
Interfaces 1 x headphone
1 x DC-in
1 x line-in
1 x external monitor
1 x RJ-11
1 x RJ-45
1 x i.LINK (IEEE 1394)
4 x USB 2.0
1 x Monitor-in (line-in port)
1 x TV-antenna
1 x S-Video-in (Composite/Line-in)
1 x TV-out (s-video, Component-out))
1 x 5-in-1 Bridge Media slot (supports SD Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, MultiMedia Card, xD-Picture Card)
Where is the Component-out ???Promise is a promise. Why do they say it if they dont give it?
Instruction manual also says that : D-Video port lets you transfer 525i(480i),525p(480p),1125i(1080i) or 750p(720p) data to external devices.
How can you transfer 720p with a Scart Cable?? It is impossible.... The only way that Qosmio can transfer 1280x720 picture is a Component Video cable.(Because it has no DVI port) How much does this cable cost anyway?? But the problem is NOBODY is producing it in Europe. I am writing to Toshiba-Japan. Since they are saying that my computer has Component-out so they must get me the cable....

• Component Video Cables vs. Fiber Optic?

I am looking to purchase a Sony HTS-S360 Home Theater system sometime in the near future and I am looking to hook my 46" Sony Bravia XBR9 up to it.  I am wondering which would be better for such a setup, Component Cables or a Fiber Optic Cable.  I want whichever gives me the quality of sound closer to the HDMI cable but I also don't want to pay the extra money for an HDMI cable.  Any suggestions for which would be the better way to hook the Sony receiver up to my Sony TV?

Well for starters one is a video cable and the other is audio. Component cables carry video on three different cables, red, green and blue. Optical cables carry digital sound. So if you went with component cables to hook something up like a cable box or dvd player you would also have to use the optical cable for sound. So is not one or the other, its both since one does video and the other does the audio.
HDMI carries both digital video and audio.
What are you looking to hook up with this new system? It doesn't come with a blu ray or dvd player built in. So you will have to get one seperately if you don't have one. And do you have a cable box or satalite dish? This system has HDMI inputs so if you want the best quality I suggest using them. If your just looking to get sound from the tv to the receiver you would run an optical cable from the tv audio out to the optical in on the receiver.
Let us know what components you have or play on buying and maybe we can help you with the best way to hook it up. If you get a blue ray player using component cables will not be the best way to hook it up. To gain the full advantage of blu ray you will need the HDMI cable.

• Zen vison m video cable

hi all i have recently bought a i-trigue 3000i system for my i-pod classic 20gb. after much searching i bought the zen m vision video cable via creative online to enable me to play videos music and pictures through my tv. i ensured the tv out settings were correct through my i-pod and plugged in. all i got was sound and a very wavey picture on videos and nothing at all from photos . can anybody help [email protected]

• Ipod componant video cable.

Hi, i just got my ipod componant video cable and dock, and it worked fine untill i was messing around with my ipod and switched the tv signal thing to PAL(whatever that is) then had switched it back and no i get no video i just get lines and fuzz and snow and stuff on the screen, i get audio but no video, please help me.

NTSC is the tv broadcast format used in North America. PAL is the tv broadcast format used throughout most of the world. That answers your first question.
Here is what I would try. Reset your iPod by holding down the Menu and Center buttons simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.
Then after your iPod comes back to life, open the Videos menu and then go to the Settings menu.
Make sure your settings are as follows:
TV Out: Off
TV Signal: NTSC
Fullscreen: Off
Captions: Off
Now plug in your cable to the docking port and connect to the tv. If you are still in the video settings menu, you should see the TV Out item change to On. If not change it to ON.
Now try to play a video.
I suspect that if you change to PAL from NTSC or vice-versa while the cable is still plugged in that the output actually is not getting changed.

• Nokia Video Cable for n95 vs Cheap Video cable, wh...

Hey, so im interested into understanding why the nokia video cable for n95 costs around 40€ in my country while you can get a very very cheap one for no more than 6€.
What are the advantages of nokia 1 vs a normal 1? does it scale the image to a higher resolution than the phone 240*320? does it offer anything else at all than basic video/stereo audio output?
Im rly curious since i find the price just ridiculous if its the same!
IF anyone has any information ill be gratefull, thank you all in advance!

Nokia video cable comes with, if i am not wrong, 6 months warranty and you can expect quality though not that well in the video but in the cable. A friend of mine bought a video cable for his 5800 from other shop it worked well, make sure you dont buy a very cheap product which maynot be compatible with the phone, better test infront of the shop person if possible.
If a reply has solved your problem click Accept as solution button, doing it will help others know the solution. Thanks.
