p/s: the reason is because most of our network service provider is compatible with this feature even its provide with free package for video calling over 3G network..that the reason why we all realy need that function are available with our N900.come on NOKIA it just a software/firmware tweak on this device because you already provide this front VGA camera.if is not maybe we all can accept it...
Don't drag up two old threads on the same topic and post the exact same message in both. And Nokia has nothing to do with this forum, contact them directly if you have a suggestion

Any progress or update from nokia about this video call over 3G function on our beloved N900...can anyone from nokia or software developer can give some hint to us...???..if not, nokia is suck and bulllshit because letting their loyal user like suck without suport..they just left user with the great community suport only...i love nokia community but nokia company and its suport like **bleep**...

i think he means 3g video calling with your network provider , not skype not gtalk....
and there has been some talks at TMO more chance of getting 3g calling from our maemo5 community, not nokia .

  • N900 VIDEO CALL

PLEASE NOKIA, MAKE MY N900 WORK WITH GSM VIDEO CALLS! when will you get this feature to work??? it`s the best device ever and a cannot stand that other common cells have video calls and a 500 euro phone like N900 doesn`t !!! I use video calls very much !!!
and if u could, make these things better, too:
    1. widgets hardly respond sometimes
    2. increase battery life, `cause mine hardly lasts for 1 day
Thank u Nokia!Hope u will get these things work by early april update...

nokia is not going to help you with this. but maybe the commuinity will.
as forf the widgets, i would encourage you to be sure you are up to date on the firmware.
as for the battery life....not sure what the complaint is. charge it when you sleep. for everything thnis unit is doing at all times....1 day is good. other devices that are smartphones do not usually get one day....

  • Video call not supported by N900

Anyone please help...Is there already an available N900 software update to be able to support video calling?

video calling over some VOIP services (and apparently not Skype.. which is fine since I'm not on talking terms with those idiots anyhow!)
It still won't support 3G video calling

  • Enable Video Call for Skype

I have just tried to do a video call to a Skype account, but the video doesn't show. I can't see my contact and they can't see me.
All i get is a square with an avatar in it. How do I enable video calls for Skype so that we can both see each other?
I do have the new firmware update too.

    here you go.
be sure you are set up first:
open your contact that you want to call.  be sure that it has a skype address already saved.  it will look like this:
it will start to initiate the call.  once picked up, then it will look like this.  tap on the menu on top:
a drop down menu will show.  inititiate the video ability:
then it will show horizontally split with the options on the right and thier picture or camera image on the left.  tap on camera...after a few seconds, you will kick in.   this will work n900-any pc, and n900-n900.....over wifi, and over the tmobile network.
    hope that helped!

  • No Skype Video Calls on the N8

Can anybody give me one good reason why a Video Call cannot be made using Skype on the N8?  Surely the N8 is built for such applications with its forward facing camera and excellent specifications...
Is somebody not paying somebody royalties somewhere or is it just that Nokia & Skype want us to buy the N900 from the Skype shop?

I am well aware that Skype is a 3rd party applications thanks all the same cjlim and have also raised the issue with Skype. As is usual with these things and as you have just proven so well, I am not expecting to get a sensible reply from anybody on this issue.
But it seems to me that all of us symbian users have been put on the back burner now that Nokia has gone down the Maemo road.
Is there any good technical reason as far as Nokia is concerned as to why video calls could not be made even if Skype chose to support the N8 fully - and if so why have they just launched the N8 along side the N900 using a totally different operating system for each leaving the N8 at a disadvantage?
Do either Skype or Nokia seriously think we are going to throw over our brand new phones for a N900 because of application issues?
If N8 users contunue to come up against such application limitations where there should be none, does Nokia think that will help in anyway to create a 'Feel Good' factor towards the Brand or do they think we are most likely to switch to another manufacturer that is supported fully by third party applications next purchase?
Maybe you want to stick your superior attitude where the video calls don't shine and try providing a sensible answer to some of these points as third party or not, Nokia is implicated here!

  • Video calls on skype or any other program ?

hi any chance of a video call program like skype working on the E7 ? in the making or not anytime soon ?

Hi I am also disappointed with the E7. Even with 2 cameras it doesnt seem able to support video calls (at least on skype) I've never tried a videocall with a real phone call actually. However if you ever get a chance I would suggest the Nokia N900 (I had it for 1 year and a half): It supports skype video calls and its perfect!!!!  I used it all the time . Unfortunately it broke during my vacation and I sent it to the nokia care center but it couldnt be repaired so they gave me the nokia e7 in exchange. better than nothing but no comparison with the n900. If ur looking for skype video calls the NOKIA N900 is the way to go !!!!

  • Video Calling - can NOKIA please confirm when avai...

    Hello Everyone,
I have been happily using N900 for Skype video calling.
When I first received my phone I was told by my phone company that N900 supports video calling without using Skype(using mobile numbers to other compatible phones via the 3G network)
My partner also has a N900 and is not able to make Video Calling either, where when we both had an E72 we had no problems at all.
I called Nokia 2 months ago and they said that in Australia, they will have video calling to mobile numbers very soon for the N900.  Can anyone at Nokia tell me when this is happening?  This was one of the main reasons I bought the N900 as it is promoted to have video calling on 3G as well as Internet (Skype or other).
I am keen to use video calling as I work with clients who don't necessarily have Skype, but use video calling nonetheless.
    Awaiting Nokia's response.
    Thanks
    Bianca

WHY   as no video call for IM too so WHEN and please explain as give embrassed as Iphone 4 have video call as I hate Apple devices !! as I have used Nokia since 5110 10 years ago !!
iPhone 4 doesn't have video calling like you think. It lets you video call other people with an iPhone 4, and only on wifi.
I imagine it isn't included because not many people use it, it's expensive and quite tedious. With Skype, it's free.

  • If the DroidX had a front camera how easy would it be to video call with Skype or Fringe?

Apparently EVO with Sprint you can video conference with Fringe but is this something that has to been done through WIFI?  I was ready to upgrade to the DroidX but I am wondering if I should hold off for the front camera.  I love using Skype video and it would be amazing to have this feature on the phone if it is an easy thing to do.
It would be greatly appreciated if someone is knowledgable about this information.
    Thank you!

Since that is a hypothetical situation (Droid X front camera), there is no real way to even guess how the carrier or manufacture would implement this feature because if you look at how other devices use this feature you notice that they are not implementing this feature the same way.  Also in regards to the EVO video calls is across the 4G network but from what I have read they have been experiencing a lot of connection issues do to the network being over whelmed (which isnt a surprise)...

  • IPhone Jabber Client Video Calls Unavailable

I'm having trouble getting my iPhone to make video calls.  I can make video calls via J4W with the same CUCM/IM-P cluster, and my iPhone Jabber client is having no problem getting IMs, presence information, or making standard voice calls, but when I go to "Settings - Audio and Video", it simply has a message that says "Video is currently unavailable"
The "Dual-Mode for iPhone" device in CUCM has video calling enabled.  What other settings could I be missing?

    You would want to get this tested in iPhone 4s and above. check this portion of the document;
