Video camera connections to Power Book

I have a Panasonic Camera with USB, AV multi connector and HDMI mini connector. I wanted to download into iDVD, but the iDVD instructions say to use a firewire connection. Do I have any alternatives or are there adapters?

Same problem with me dude.
My Sony AVCHD (HDD) videocamera not working too well with my Macbook Pro.
- Final Cut Express can see it if I click on Log & Transfer - but that's all it can do. Can't copy.
- Not compatible (?) for M2TS files

    • Only if your video camera supports it.  Depending on how your camera works, you may need to add preview software to your Mac to use this feature.
    • Alternatively, your camera may also be able to record directly into your Mac while you are monitoring the Mac's display.
    • If you are using a consumer camcorder that supports HDMI monitoring, a small HDTV might be an simpler solution than your Mac.  For an example of how this is done, see http://youtu.be/GVpSkZD6qE4.
    • The retailer who sold you your video camera may have other suggestions.
    • If you need more professional results, an external preview monitor will offer more capability on compatible cameras.

What happens when, after you connect your cam, you go to File > Import Media?
But before that, does your cam require you to export your video files upon USB connection? I have a JVC Everio HD and I have to "Export to Library" from the cam's menu first-thing. This was true even in prior iMovie versions.

  • My hp V5060h video cam did not power on even the battery if fullcharge.......what is the problem?

my hp V5060h video cam did not power on even the battery if fullcharge.......what is the problem?

Didn't you already post something similar:
Yesterday, I went and bought a refurbished 3rd-generation iPod touch, with a warranty for needed repairs in the future. When I went home after buying it, I plugged it into my computer to start charging. I plugged it in, and the battery in the iPod exploded, and now it won't power on period, even when it is plugged in or docked. I bought a warranty to go with the iPod because I figured that I was probably going to drop it, and then need it repaired. But Apple cannot even find the purchase record on file from where I bought the AppleCare warranty on it, so now I am stuck with what is now basically a paperweight. What should I do?
    iPod touch, iOS 4
And would this be the same iPod with the fried battery?

  • Can an external video camera connect through a Mac to Apple TV?

The business has a conference room that they would like use for video conferencing. They have a flat screen TV and asked if they could mount a video camera above the TV, that is connected to a MacBook Pro or MacMini, and use the external camera for video conferencing. They wouldn't be using it with FaceTime, it's a third party video conferencing program. They just want to know if they could mirror the video conference call through Apple TV when using an external camera?

    Hi,
Thanks for your assistance, but I spent quite some time researching this before posting, and the post you link to (which I've already read) doesn't actually answer my question, that person is asking about his wireless speakers receiving individual sound channels through airplay. Other discussions, which I've also looked at, seem inconclusive.
I was really posting in the hopes of finding anyone who had personal experience of trying to play a fullscreen, 5.1 surround video file using airplay mirroring from their mac to their Apple TV, and if they received 5.1 sound.
Thanks again for your help though.

  • Aluminium macbook to sony pc5e (dv video camera) connectivity

Hi, hope someone may be able to help. I have an old sony pc5e mini dv video camera and would like to connect it to my aluminium mac to download some content. Is this compatible and if so, what would I need in terms of cables and software etc. I would assume that unless a firewire input is available then it won't work? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.

I had similar problem. Bought new HDR-HC9 camera. Took tape from older mini dv camera, and recorded some test footage. Created new imovie project, and the portion of the tape recorded in hi def comes over fine, the portion of the tape recorded in standard (on the old camcorder) all I saw was the blue screen.
I also tried playing and importing some tapes that were recorded entirely on the old camera (no mix of hi def and standard on the same tape) and had the same result: iMovie saw camera, would control rev and play, video would play on camera but iMovie has blue screen.
I tried the iLink setting from the camera playback menu (HD->DV conversion) with no luck. I made sure my iMovie project was appropriate for the recorded mode (DV widescreen) with no luck. Then I happened on the solution. Go to the camera settings in video camera mode, change the recording mode from Hi Def to standard DV. At this point all the tapes recorded in standard mode (DV widescreen) from the old camera can be imported into iMovie6 just fine. I know this sounds weird, since the record mode should not effect playback (?) but it works none the less.
I have not yet experimented with importing hiDef footage with camera in standard record mode, but I expect that if there are problems, that making sure the record mode on the camera is synced with the type of footage you are playing into iMovie is the solution.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cannot see video without video camera connected, already imported Video

I imported my Video from my Video Camera, but after Editing my Video, when I try to share the video, or create a file, a message appears that says "This Item cannot be shared while referancing media on the camera". Ive made made many movies with prior versions of IMovie, now I updated to 10.0.3, If I disconnect the camera, all the Clips have a Question Mark. Seems like the file is not saved to my Hard Drive.

I can't even see the VPs in order to play them.
Try placing the podcasts in a test playlist and resync your iPod. If neither the playlist nor the files appear on the iPod, they were likely not copied.

  • Old digital video camera connection to iMac????

I have an old Panasonic digital color CCTV camera (model WV-CL320) which I have used for years with a microscope attachment in my classroom connected to a television. I would like to be able to connect to the computer to capture images, either single frame or short video clips, on my iMac G-4. Does anyone have knowledge or experience about connections of this type? I tried connecting via the video port by way of the Apple composite or S-video adapter to no avail. Nothing shows up and system profiler doesn't indicate anything. iMovie does not sense a camera. So what must I do or is this asking the impossible? Does this kind of capture require additional software, a composite video to fire wire or something altogether not apparent to my unsavvy mind? The camera has no storage capacity; it simply delivers an output of 1.0 Vp-p NTSC composite video signal. The output on the camera is a BNC connector which further connects to an RCA cable to the television. I have connected the camera to my LCD projector through a composite video- phone jack port on the back of the HP xb21. So if anyone can help it would be appreciated. Thanks

by way of the Apple composite or S-video adapter to no avail.
These ports are OUT from the Mac, not IN to the Mac.
The output on the camera is a BNC connector which further connects to an RCA cable to the television.
The camera is really no different than a VHS VCR (in this context).

  • Lost connection between Power Book G4 and Brother Printer/Fax.  Need help.

I am a new Mac user and until recently had a successful wireless connection to the Brother printer/fax. Address # 192.168.1.100 While printing a job I ran out of ink. I turned the printer off to replace the cartridge and lost the connection to the wireless powerbook. The printer works because it prints jobs from the PC that it is connected to by wire. So far I have clicked on "system preferences", clicked print and fax, Clicked + ato add printer and put the address in. Nothing is working. The message says, cannot connect to printer. I need serious, detailed help. My husband connects everything and gets it running and he just left for Iraq! Thanks so much!!

Hello! In the printer setup utility choose "show Jobs" and see if you can click on "start jobs". It's probably gotten stuck because it ran out of ink. Tom

  • Why won't my Power Book connect to the internet via Airport (AEBS) ?

Since getting a new Broadband provider and ADSL modem (before I had cable modem which worked perfectly) which is cabled up to my EMAC (with Airport card) I cannot connect my Power Book to the internet ? I have reconfigured and hopefully set the preferences correctly on both computers i.e. Personal Web sharing- On, Internet sharing -On etc.
I can send files between the two computers and they connect to my network fine, but the Power Book cannot get the internet. Can anyone please help ?

Personal Web Sharing is not necessary.
I believe VickyMC is using her eMac to share the Internet account to her PowerBook. She has Personal Web Sharing enabled so that the ports are opened to allow access through the eMac to the Internet.

  • Recognizing external video cameras

My associates and I are encountering inconsistencies with iChat and an external video camera connected via FireWire. The camera is a SONY DFW-V500.
We are using a new MacPro desktop, new 27" iMacs and a 15" i5 MacBook Pro. All machines are running OS X v 10.6.5 and iChat v. 5.0.3.
When I launch iChat on the 15" MacBook Pro, I can click through the several setup screens in iChat (Welcome to iChat, Account Setup, Conclusion and click "Done") Then, when I choose iChat>Preferences from the iChat menu, I see an "Audio/Video" window. Below the viewer where I see the incoming video is a pop-up menu entitled "Camera:" where I can choose "Sony DFW-500" or "Built-in iSight". I can switch readily between them just fine.
On our iMacs and the Desktop Macs we are getting very different behavior. On the iMacs, NO "Camera:" pop-up menu shows in the "Audio/Video" window. On the desktop machines, we are getting a "no camera attached" message.
Why is this happening? How to fix it?
    Thanks,
    George

    Hi,
Sounds like you need to do a Firewire Reset.
    Disconnect all Firewire devices.
    Power down the computer.
    Wait 15 Mins
Restart the computer then plug in the devices.
(With Laptops you must also remove the power cord otherwise the ports stay "Charged")
You need to wait long enough for some internal capacitors to discharge that help with holding Device numbering info.
If this does not help you may need to reset the SMC/PMU
(You may need to do this anyway as the Internal USB camera is not showing Up).

Are all machines using Firewire 800 ports ?
Are you using the same Adapter (400 > 800 ) on each ?

  • Kodak Zi8 doesn't connect to iPad2 camera connection kit

    Hi,
i have a Kodak Zi8 video camera and want to copy my movies to a iPad2 using the camera connection kit using buildin USB Kable of the Zi8.
Unfortunately the iPad shows a messagebox "Dieses Zubehör benötigt zu viel Strom" (accessory need to much current !?).
How can i connect my video camera to the iPad2?
    Yours Rüdiger

You won't be able to because the video camera requires more power than the iPad can provide.
To transfer your videos to the iPad, you might try connecting the video camera to your computer and importing them into iTunes.  From there, you can select the videos and create iPad-compatible versions (under the "Advanced" menu, select "Create IPAD Version".  Then transfer the iPad version of the video to your iPad by syncing.

  • Third Party Video Camera Wants To Zoom

I use a Panasonic video camera connected via Firewire, when using iChat (4). Every few minutes the image it picks up of me zooms in, and then after a moment, it zooms back out. I have no idea what controls this, but it is driving me nuts.
Any thoughts what might be going on and how I can solve this problem?

    Hi,
Some DV Camcorders have demo modes.
Some of these include showing you all the editing whizzy things but this sounds like it is showing you other features.
Check it is not stuck in a Demo mode.

  • IMac i7 Quad-Core firewire port and video camera

Has anybody tried to detect a video camera connected to the firewire 800 port?
I have already tried with two PRO tape-based DV video cameras: SONY PD170 and PANASONIC AG-HVX200E with no results. The same models do not have any problem with iMac 27" Core Duo 2.
Apple care protection plan has been useful only to know that if my iMac firewire port can handle an external Hard Disk, as it does, the compatibility with the camera is not a problem of Apple, but simply mine.
Any suggestion? Any help to find official pages by Apple with technical specification about firewire port and protocol of the new iMac 27" i7?
    Thanks, Carlo

Today my Mac has finally been fixed. I had to send it to Milano, to SATA srl, where they have replaced the logic board. Now I can import video from my video camera using the FireWire port. Thank SATA!!!

  • How can I view a video camera plugged into the TV tuner card's S-Video socket

HP Pavillion Elite HPE Series desktop. TV tuner card AVerMedia H752. Video camera connected to S-Video socket. Win7 64 bit OS. How can I view the camera output? Windows Media Center does not seem to provide a means.

    Hi,
Sorry, I don't know what are you trying to do. The Tuner card is like a TV which allow you watching TV like normal TV on your computer. The S-Video is OUT only, plugging a video camera to it won't do anything good.
    Regards.
