  • Can't Convert Selection For iPod.

When I attempt to put a quiktime video on my video iPod, it says that my iPod is unable to play that file type.
Then, when I try to convert that video for use on my iPod, it says it can't due to an unknown error (-3000) occurring.
Some help with this would be VERY much appreciated, as it is driving me insane.

I don't know how to solve your problem directly, as in within iTunes, but a workaround is to simply use other software to convert your videos.
I personally use iSquint, as its fast, free, easy to use, and works every time. After a file is converted, simply drag the outputted file into iTunes or your iPod as normal.

(The makers of iSquint now offer a more feature-rich version called VisualHub, which is not free and I cannot vouch for.)

So please help did I try to sync the video the wrong way or does the video have to be a different format? And if so how do I convert the video with out changing the quality? Please help!

QT uses for ever, and you loose the sound on most .mpg videos.
Download iSquint, it can't be done any easier:

Just choose "optimized for iPod screen" and "Automaticly add to iTunes".

  • I accidentally made a time-lapse video. can i convert it to normal speed

I accidentally recorded a video in time lapse. Is there any way that you can make it a normal video?

A time lapse video records frames at a set interval. There is NO other information recorded between those frames.
You can slow it down and watch each frame for a longer period of time, but you will see no other information than what is originally recorded.

  • "Convert selection to iPod/iPhone" failing to convert

When I attempt to sync an .mp4 video I downloaded from the net, it tells me I can't because my iPod touch can't play it. Okay, whatever, so I go to the Movies section of my iTunes library, right click said video, and select "Convert selection to iPod/iPhone", and wait the standard 15-30 minutes for the conversion.
Long story short, the conversion 'completes', but when I go to play it (via iTunes or my iPod Touch), there's no video, the audio is garbled for the first new seconds, and then becomes completely silent and I'm simply watching two snowmen out in a blizzard (aka, just a white screen).
The video I'm attempting to convert is four hours in length; it's a silly puppet show I watch occasionally that people can view live on the internet every Sunday, and the studio puts it up for download afterwards.
Any tips on what I can do to get the files to play properly?

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions,
I'd advise you to remove and then re-install the lastest version of Quicktime on your computer.

  • Can I convert purchased m4v video files for my iPOD?

I want to convert a video that I purchased from the iTunes store, which is in m4v format so that it can play on my iPOD. However, when I select the movie from the library (in iTunes) and then FILE>CREATE NEW VERSION>CREATE iPOD OR iPHONE, this choice, as well as all others is "greyed out".
Any ideas? Am I doing something incorrectly?

IPOD will play m4v format videos from iTunes store.
    Are these HD videos?
You can download the SD version.
    See this -> http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4223
Syncing video to iPhone 3G or earlier, iPod touch (1st or 2nd generation), iPod classic, iPod 5th generation, or iPod nano (3rd, 4th, or 5th generation)
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer. You can download the latest version for free here.
    Open iTunes on your computer.
From the Store menu, choose Store > Sign In, and then enter your Apple ID and password.
Navigate to your Purchased page. Find it by clicking Movies or TV Shows from the top navigation bar in the iTunes Store, and then click Purchased from "QUICK LINKS" in the iTunes Store.
Choose the appropriate video type: Movies or TV Shows.
In the lower-right corner of the screen, deselect the box next to "Download HD When Available."
Search for the desired video and click the download button.
This should download the standard definition version to your computer so you can sync to your device."

  • How can I convert Itunes video albums tracks to ipod tracks

How can I convert Itunes video albums tracks to ipod tracks?

3pg is an odd format... That or I just never seen it before. :P
iTunes just ***** at converting videos. So far all videos I tried converting with iTunes have resulted in the same error you got.
You're better-off using 3rd party apps, and then copying to iTunes, and then copying to the iPod.
Unfortunately I don't know of any conversion programs for Windows.
If you by chance have a mac, this program works great: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/flv2itunes.html
The mac version of Handbrake below works great, hopefully the Windows version does, too:
    http://handbrake.fr/?article=download
When converting with handbrake, make sure to use the iPod preset for the out-put video.
    Hope this helps a little.

  • Convert DVD and other video files for playback on  iPhone, iPod, PSP, etc.

So, how are your holidays going? Or, if you're reading this on the weekend, how'd they go? Watching various sorts of DVD movies and videos is a better idea for a pastime during your free time. To make your holiday be more colorful with movies, I prefer to recommend an application to help you guys deal with different kinds of video resources, no matter the DVD files or footages shot by camcorders, or videos in formats of FLV, AVI, MKV, etc., in a word, the converted videos will be supported by whatever portable devices you have, including PSP, iPod Classic, iPod Touch, iPod Nano, iPhone (3G), iPhone, Zune, Zune 2, Blackberry, Nokia, Creative Zen, Sony Walkman, iRiver PMP, Archos, PS3, Apple TV, Xbox, iPAQ, Pocket PC, Mobile Phone, etc. The software is Pavtube Video DVD Converter Ultimate, which combines DVD ripper and Video Converter together, and enables you to edit and convert any DVD, video, audio and image files to other popular formats including MP4, 3GP, FLV, MPEG-4, AVI, MPG, MOV, 3G2, VOB, FLAC, MKA, OGG, WAV, AC3, M4A with super fast conversion speed and excellent image and sound quality.
The detailed user guide will be shown in the following part:
Step 1: Add video and DVD file
You are allowed to add videos to this program via clicking "Add Video", and add DVD files to it via clicking "Load DVD". DVD files can be loaded in three ways: "Load DVD ROM", "Load DVD Folder", and "Load ISO/IFO".
Step 2: Select output format and set destination folder
Videos and DVD files can be added to this program at the same time, after that, you can click the drop-down list of "Format" to select an output format for your portable devices. The format profile provides you with formats for iPod, iPhone, PSP, PS3, BlackBerry, etc. Meanwhile, you can click the folder icon at the end of "Output" to decide where to save the output files. Moreover, if you want to combine multiple files to be a single file, you can tick "Merge into one file".
    Step 3: Set advanced settings
If you have the needs of adjusting video and audio parameters to make good control of the output file quality and size, you can click "Settings" button to do it, and all the options like codec, aspect ratio, bit rate, frame rate, audio channel, etc. are changeable on the following window.
    Step 4: Start conversion
As soon as the above steps are finished, you can click "Convert" button to start conversion, the following ripping window will show you clearly about all the conversion info. After finished, you are able to find out the output files via clicking "Open" button.

We're not supposed to talk about DVD conversion according to the terms of service ...
So I'll assume these VOB files are from your HOME MOVIE DVDs you burned yourself and suggest the Videora iPod Classic Video Converter.
    http://www.videora.com/
It's a really nice program that converts not only your HOME MOVIE DVD VOB files, but AVI, MPEG, and others. You can set the CPU usage from high to low with five settings, it has a queue which you can add multiple files to, and it will minimize to the taskbar for compact convenience. There are other Windows programs that do much the same, but I prefer Videora. Oh ... and it's freeware!!

  • Convert Selection For iPod--Video Problems

I've got video in iTunes, that's not the problem. I've checked, iTunes and QuickTime are both up-to-date. When I try and sync the videos to my 80gig iPod, it tells me that they can not be synced because they are not the right format. They're all .mp4 format and Apple lists that as compatible for an iPod. When I right click on the video and click on 'Convert Selection for iPod', it converts it, but I only get the audio with a blank white screen and no video. I've followed the Apple tutorial and they're video clip works when I convert it. I went to the DivX website and downloaded the newest version of it and installed everything but the DivX player. It still won't work. What should I do?

I think I was able to resolve this myself after some trial and error. It looks like it is all in the name of the file. I've gotten some files to transfer after going into the Get Info section and updating the name (usually shorten the name or take out non-letter/number/# characters and then get the filename on disk to match.

  • How do i correctly convert mpeg videos so they work on my ipod?

is someone used by using mediacoder and can tell me how i should change the options to convert mpeg files so the video and sound works on my ipod?

I have the same problem - I thought I was the only one!
I converted my mpg videos using Itunes, then transferred them to my Ipod. But, when I go to play the videos, the video works fine, but there's no audio! I think this is a problem with the muxing of the audio and video tracks. I've heard that you have to extract the audio from the mpg file so you not only have a video file, but a separate audio file. Then I guess you mate the files togethter somehow in order for it to work on the Ipod. I've heard of a program that can fix this for Macs (ffmpegx), but I have a PC.

  • When converting dvds to ipod, how do you combine many video files into one?

Hello everyone! When i convert dvds to Ipod format (on windows using videora) the converter seperetly re-encodes severeal (about 4) .99 Gig files into smaller ipod videos. each file is about 30 minutes long, and i was wondering if all of them could be converted into one 2 hour movie file(star wars III if you're wondering). If there is a free way to do this (not quicktimePro)I would find that extreemly helpful.

As TSN has indicated we have no idea what program you are using, other than you posted in the Acrobat forum. In Acrobat you go to File > Create > Combine (varies with version of Acrobat). You can also open one and then use the pages>Insert to add the others.
