Video cannot play on my mac

Videos cannot play on my Mac. I have downloaded flash player over and over again, enabled it with all three browsers. Added plugins and nothing. Can anyone provide any advise? I would also like to see who I can speak to about this. Thanks!

Firefox cannot play tutorials at Mac Pro Video, but Safari can

For 3 months I could watch tutorials at Mac Pro Video in Firefox, but now they do not play, they just briefly flash on then go to a blank white screen. When I switch to Safari the videos do play normally.
My Firefox plugin check gives erroneous versions for Shockwave Director and Java Applet. I updated both but the plugin check says I still have the older version

I wasn't going to use it anymore until I got a new one, but I need to get video editing done in the meantime, so I have been keeping the card cool and only working on the computer for short amounts of time. Is this smart to do?
Smart or not isn't the question, it's a matter of need.
Prolonged or repeated overheating will kill the card.
Also why would the video card fan break like that?
Abuse, a freak accident, bad plastic, etc.
What model card is it? Some cards have a history for specific ills, like the Radeon X1900, Geforce 7300 GT, Radeon 2600, Geforce 8800........
And finally could you suggest another video card to purchase.

Video cannot played on this ipod

I have a mp4 file I'm trying to drag to my ipod but I'm getting the "cannot played on this ipod" error when I try. My wife has another ipod just like it that I CAN however drag the file to. I have the latest software on the ipod. What could be causing this?

Ok I just wanted to check because this is NOT the Fifth Generation iPod group, so there was a chance you might have been posting in the correct group for your iPod, which would have been a PRE-video version. So you have the right iPod, just the wrong forum.
So do you both have the same firmware loaded in your iPods?
Have you tried a restore on yours to see if it makes any difference?

I can't speak for the other utilities, but I CAN say that Mousefix does NOT just alter the movement speed. If you think that, then you have not bothered to read and understand the documentation that comes with this utility.
If Mousefix doesn't work for you then it's probably because the APIs that it uses have now been removed from OS-X. It still works ok on my PPC Mac, but if you have an Intel Mac then this could explain the difference. Again, if you read the documentation that comes with Mousefix then you would see that the "future" removal of these APIs from OS-X is mentioned.
I have absolutely no idea why Apple would remove these APIs and make life so difficult, but it seems that that is their intention.
This being the case then it would seem that the only option would be to use a completely new mouse driver. I understand the Microsoft Intellimouse driver for the Mac is a free download (presumably from microsoft.com); maybe this is worth a go.
Personally, I'm waiting for the Mac to be better supported by OpenBSD (if it ever is) and then I'll be using that instead

My video wont play on a Mac

Hi Experts,
Using Flash 8, I have created a video by importing an flv
file that I previously encoded using the Sorenson encoder. I
published the video to a folder on my hard drive that contains all
the files related or pertaining to the video.
I burned all the files in the folder to a CD. (just the files
themselves, no path hierarchy)
The swf file plays just fine on my PC, either from my hard
drive, or from the CD, but my partner cannot get it to run from the
CD on her Mac, using Flashplayer 6. She just gets a new, blank
window. (I have advised her to update her player)
I found a Macromedia support article that would seem to
pertain. It says that you can't run swf files on a Mac from a
non-system drive because it doesn't recognize slashes in the path.
The work around is to change the slashes in the path to colons.
That would make sense if the CD contained paths to the files, which
it does not.
Can anyone shed any light on this issue? The goal is to make
a CD containing a video that anyone can play with a fairly modern
computer and minimal computer savvy.

You could try clearing the system history and cookies. Settings > Safari > Clear History and Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies and Data
If that doesn't work, get a new browser. Google Chrome is available for iOS, I recommend getting it.

I just figured it out. Somehow I didn't change it to the correct code of 1. So on the second shot of 5 allowed I realized I didn't change and save. Now the dvd played.

Cannot play podcast from .mac website on iPhone's Safari

Published a podcast, using iWeb on our .mac website. Works great on my laptop, however, on the iPhone using Safari, it just shows a QuickTime icon. If you click on the icon it takes you to the quicktime site to download the latest version of quicktime. There isn't a "play" button visible to press instead.
If I subscribe to the podcast, download it into iTunes and then sync my iPhone, it works great. Is it possible to listen to podcasts right through Safari on the iPhone?

It's that way because that's the way Apple designed it.
I just merely wish to listen to them using itunes and my pc headphones while it charges the unit.
You can still connect headphones to the iPhone and listen while your PC changes the iPhone. Until Apple changes things, that's it.

Youtube Treating Videos Viewed On Youtube As Embedded Videos-Cannot Play

When I go to watch videos on Youtube in the most recent version of Firefox, the player treats them as though they were embedded; they do not begin playing automatically, there is no option for pop-out, and there is a "Watch this video on Youtube" button in the lower right-hand corner of the UI. Furthermore, when I try to play the video, I get a black screen and " An error occurred. Please try again later."
I should stress again that I am ''already'' on Youtube when this is happening. This is not a problem with embedded videos on other sites, this is actual videos on Youtube behaving like embedded videos.
I've already cleared the cache and cookies, disabled AdBlock, updated Flash, and updated Firefox; no joy.

This may be caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update.

This post is for Windows 8.1 users with Xfinity Online TV Error Messages. I hope there only a few of you. Let's try everything else first before we consider doing a "REFRESH". A refresh can be done two ways. One will set your computer back to FACTORY SETTINGS. This means you will lose all files, all added software, all added browsers and your computer will be returned to Windows 8 The other way you can keep your personal files and passwords. You will lose all added software and browsers, also returned to Windows 8 If you have purchased software online or have a recovery back up disk all of this can be reinstalled. You will need your user names and passwords for your software, most recovery disks even require license and password info. I have been thru this process myself. Careful preparation can make the process easier. After doing this I was advised by Microsoft Support to reinstall Windows 8.1 before reinstalling my antivirus. This procedure made an incredible difference.
I just wanted you to consider this if we have tried everything else without a positive result. Clearly the Windows 8.1 users with Error 422 problems may be the most difficult to repair.

Cannot play video files in new photos app for mac

I recently moved from an older imac to a new one (both had Yosemite installed). I moved my photos over by copying my old photo library file and pasting it to replace the same file on the new mac. All my photos came over fine, however i am unable to play some of the video files. I get a warning saying 'Cannot Play file - Photos cannot play this video. Do you want to try opening it in Quicktime Player?'. If i try in quicktime it won't open either.
What's strange is that when i go to the info tab for these videos they show as .MOV files that were taken on an iphone 5S - but they are very small in size - 5KB or so. Perhaps the size of the thumbnail image only. Any ideas on how i can fix this? When i open them on the old mac i get an other warning issue stating 'The necessary data reference could not be resolved'

At that size, what copied over is just the reference to the video file, not the video itself. Some suggestions:
1. In iPhoto, select the video, then in the File menu select Reveal in Finder. If this finds the original file, add it manually to Photos.
2. Perform a Spotlight search for the video file title/name. If found, move to Photos.
3. If you imported or modified the files in iMovie, launch it and find/export the originals from there.
