Video capture and computer sync

Hi,
I have recently bought a fifth generation ipod, and have used the video capture feature.
When I sync the ipod to itunes on my mac, will I lose this video capture?
And if so, how can I sync the ipod to a new itunes library without losing the video recording I did on the ipod?

Hello there,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!
I have recently bought a fifth generation ipod, and have used the video capture feature.
First of all, this should have been posted in the +5th generation iPod Nano+ forum instead of the *5th generation iPod Video* one. Here is the link to this forum for future references.

No. Videos you take on your iPod have to manually be removed from the iPod either through the iPod itself or by opening up the necessary folders and files on your iPod through Windows Explorer.
And if so, how can I sync the ipod to a new itunes library without losing the video recording I did on the ipod?
Why would you need to worry about this? Was your nano previously synced with another iTunes library? If not, all you should have to do is hook it up to the new iTunes library and you should be good to go. For instructions on how to remove videos from your iPod, see pages 55-56 of your iPod's manual, which can be found below.

  • Mega simple video capture and edit program. Cross platform.

Looking for a mega simple video capture and edit program. Am overseeing a bunch of small groups where we want each person in the group's story told. Some groups will have Macs, some PCs, some iPads, iphones, etc. So needs to be cross platform.
Really, the simpler, the better. Like targeting 5 year olds

Is there any software anyone recommends - Sorenson?
I am capturing regular dv from minidv.

  • Going to do a video capture and it is blurry

I got my new mac book on Thursday of last week.. I did two videos on my new Imovie 11 and they were great.  Today I go to create another video (capture) and it is blurry, like it has some special effect on it.  I check and there are no effects that I can tell.. Can you help?

dang it! haha. right in front of my face. I thought there was a way to do it with quicktime but couldn't find it. I guess I didn't look hard enough. and the Help doesn't tell you this at all, although maybe I didn't use the right words for Help.
    thanx.

  • Video capture and system properties

    Hello,
Two questions on mmapi and video capture:
    1. On a Samsung SGH-A707 phone, I get a return of 'false' when running
    System.getProperty("supports.video.capture"), indicating that it won't
allow video capture thru mmapi. However, when running
    System.getProperty("video.encodings"), it returns
    'encodings=video/H263'. Isn't this a contradiction? If it doesn't
support capture, why would it show an encoding? Does the return of false
absolutely mean that the phone doesn't support video capture?
    What am I missing?
    2. On an LG CU500, I get a return of 'true' when running
    System.getProperty("supports.video.capture"), indicating that it will
allow video capture thru mmapi. However, running
    System.getProperty("video.encodings"), it returns 'encodings=jpeg'. How
is jpeg a video encoding? Isn't this only for snapshots? Do they mean
    motion-jpeg?
These are both new-ish phones, and both support video capture natively
    (outside of java).
Last question: How widespread is support for video capture thru j2me?

  • Video capture and than transmit it

After I made live video capture from (and play it with Man Media Player) I want to transmit this stram (using RTP) to other computer. How could I do this? Thank you.

I used VideoTransmit.java sample from Sun (JMF solutions...). My problem is: I want see what I transmit. For this I need a Player for my Data Source. If I used a player for my Data Source I cann't used it for transmit. It is already allocated. I could clone my data source and use one for player and the other one for transmit. It works thus. I tried it. But the stream locks from time to time. I need other solution. If I used JMStudio->File->Transmit... the stream is played and transmited very good.

  • Audio video capture and combination Nintendo64

    Hi
I was hoping that someone could help me with mixing a video and audio signal for live playback.
I have a N64 with its video component hooked up to my TV capture card, and the audio connected to the line in on my sound card.
the computer i'm using has a fresh install of arch, with xfce. I currently just have alsa installed, as far a sound stuff goes and everything is working fine.
right now i can see the video from my nintendo with "QT V4L2 test utility" which is all good. I can't make this video full screen or any bigger. I do know i can use cheese to view the video in full screen, but it does not handle any audio.
so, what program can i use? or how can i play captured audio live?? is there a program (something like cheese or not) that can handle the capture and playback of both audio and video????? the latter is prefered
any input would be good, some ideas could help me along
    thanks guys

ok cool VLC seems like a good option, i can capture the video just fine becasue i know the video device name is /dev/video0 but i don't know what the audio device name is..
i have been looking online for a way to find this out. but i have not yet found a way to tell me what the audio device name is for my sound card. (i have the audio input connected to a PCI sound card)
i just found this which helped a bit
    http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=81166
it turns out that when i have a look the sound card i want to use is alsa://plughw:0,0
so i go -> show more options -> play another media synchrously and enter alsa://plughw:0,0. all goes well

  • Digital video capture and the K8T Neo

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck capturing digital video with a machine based on this motherboard.  I've tried using various programs, including Adobe Premiere Pro, Scenalyzer, DVIO, and Movie Maker.  Regardless of what I use, I end up with enough dropped frames to make the video very choppy in places, especially if I try to capture type-2 (video for Windows) DV, as Premiere Pro requires for editing.
    Here's my setup:
    MSI K8T Neo
    AMD Athlon-64 3400+
    2 X 512 MB KingMax PC-3200 RAM
    Hercules RADEON 9800 Pro graphics
1 X Maxtor 60 GB Ultra ATA hard drive (model 5T060H6)
2 X Maxtor 250 GB SATA hard drives (model 7Y250M0)
    Plextor 708-A DVD+/-RW
I've tried the following configurations of hard drives with no success:
500 GB RAID0 array on Via controller, 60 GB drive on tertiary IDE, running from one drive and capturing to the other
250 GB drive on Via controller, 250 GB drive on Promise controller, 60 GB drive on secondary IDE, tried capturing to each
I've run some tests of disk write speeds, and they seem more than adequate for video capture (approximately 50 MB/s write for the SATA drives, 25 MB/s for the Ultra ATA drive).
I've read that there were issues with PCI bus throughput with slightly older Via chipsets, and that there have generally been issues with Via ATA controllers.
So, has anyone successfully used this motherboard to capture digital video?  What did you have to do to prevent frame drop?
Thanks in advance for any advice...

  • Problem with Video Capture, and question towards solution

Yesterday I worked on a commercial for which we captured 9 clips (roughly 10 seconds or shorter in length). The clips all had text/titles superimposed on them by an outside machine and looked good in the monitors when they were exported and captured into FCP (ie: none of the text was chopped off).
I edited the commercial and then was exporting it out, only to discover that the text on the bottom of the clips was getting chopped off.
My first question is this: is there some setting in the capture process that could have done this? something that might have gotten tweaked accidently, or corrupted in some manner? Didn't have this problem with footage captured the previous day. And since it looked good before it was put into FCP, thinking it had to be a problem with FCP.
Also, in trying to tweak the footage in FCP, I came across a 'there must be an easier way to do it' question. Is there a way to alter parameters on multiple clips (such as raising them, like I had to)? I tried selecting all and double clicking, hoping that the changes I made would affect them all, but it only affected the one I directly clicked. I'm sure there's something simple (and obvious) that I'm overlooking...
    thanks!

For how and why this could have happened, would you mind sharing your capture and sequence settings?
As far as applying parameters to multiple clips, I think you can make use of the Paste Attributes function in FCP...
Alter one of your problematic clips
Select that clip in the Timeline, then press Command-C (or control-click and choose Copy from the contextual menu)
Select the remainder of your problematic clips
With your clips selected press Option-V (or control-click on one of them and select Paste Attributes from the contextual menu) to bring up the Paste Attributes dialog
Select Basic Motion - under the Video options, on your left-hand side - then click OK
(Basic Motion because, if I understand your solution correctly, you altered the Center property - either in the Motion tab of the Viewer or manually in the Canvas - of your clips. You nudged them all up a bit, right? If you did, then that would fall under the Basic Motion attribute.)
All your selected clips should be nudged up appropriately.
But, again, I'm making a bit of leap since I'm not entirely sure what caused your issue in the first place.

  • Video capture and JavaFX

I've run throgh few threads in this forums and the sites, but I could not find when (and if) video capture will be supported by JavaFX (audio is not a major problem, as it is supported in JRE). It is possible to know something about it ?
Where any roadmaps for future releases (in terms of contents / release dates) are published ?
    Thanks.

JavaFX does not support flash streaming.
JavaFX does support http live streaming: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_Live_Streaming
JavaFX does not support audio/video capture (there are other java/native libraries that do that).
    See:
Video camera capture/streaming: example implementation "Thread: Video camera capture/streaming: example implementation"
http://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/RT-3458 "Camera and Microphone" (go vote for this jira to get some capture technology built into JavaFX).

  • Blu-Ray video capture and burning with G4 Power Book ??

    Good afternoon.
Has anybody figured out this route with a G4?
If so, please explain in nauseating details! Hardware, software, etc.......
    Thanks for your time!

    Thanks for your reply.
It's also my understanding that OS X doesn't natively offer Blu-Ray support, and that an external Blu-Ray player/burner is required (see OWC) along with capture and burning software (Toast 10).
I'm wondering if anyone has tried and succeeded.

  • Widescreen video capture and widescreen playback

Is there a way to capture widescreen video from Canopus ADVC 100 and have it playback widescreen as opposed to letterboxed. When I load it into a video iPod, the 4:3 aspect of the display makes the video even smaller.

Can you please walk me through the process. I am not a quicktime or video editing expert.
Would be happy to, Martin. However, there are at least three distinct work flows that appear to be most applicable to you at the moment. One uses your current digital-analog-digital approach and two would allow you to work entirely with digital material. Have to do some errands this morning, but will get back to you as soon as I can. Would help if you could provide the following information:
    1) May I assume your computer platform is equipped with a DVD ROM at the minimum?
    2) What special editing requirements may be required? (I.e., are you doing re-arranging scene order, applying special or unusual effects or filters?)
    3) Is your main concern the creation of iPod compatible files?
    4) May I assume your source material is, in fact widescreen, to begin with?
    5) Can you determine the specific aspect ratios involved for each movie and know how they effect output in light of most efficient use of encoding algorithms and use cropping/scaling routines? (I.e., into how much detail do you wish to delve?)
If you wish, contact me directly via e-mail. Might be easier to answer questions via iChat or other IM if you actually want to be talked through a session.
I play the DVD through the ADVC 100 on a DVD player via firewire to my eMac. I then open Quicktime/file/new movie recording, start the movie recording, do all the editing and crop from there through Streamclip.
Frame rate tends to be unreliable/inconsistent using this work flow since it relies on unregulated CPU access. Do you have iMovie, FCE, FCP, the free Vidi capture utility, or other dedicated device native (DV) capture/editing application?
I'm awaiting the next rev of the iPod. I believe it will accomodate for widescreen viewing, and will have a substantially larger display.
Current iPod accomodates widescreen viewing as is. It does, however, display as if it were letterboxed due to to screen aspect ratio. Main advantage at this point is increased encoding efficiency and smaller file size. Brings up additional questions regarding your preferences/requirements when it comes to question of quality vs. quantity of movies. Can discuss this further as needed later. As to future revisions, yes, I guess it might be nice to see a 9:16 screen but I'll wait to see if it ever happens.

  • Video capture of  computer activity software

    Hi!
Can anyone tell me of software that captures (videos) the activities done on the computer, that runs on a MAC? Macromedia had "captivate" for PCs, and their is also 'Camstasia studio' for Windows XP. I want to know if there is soming similar for Macs (OS X)?
    Thanks
    Paul

SnapzPro by Ambrosia Software is probably the most popular. Then there's Screen Recorder ... and maybe others. Do a search at Version Tracker.

  • How can I keep my apps (several unauthorized) on my ipod and computer synced?

Most of my apps were bought by an account I do not have access to anymore. I have a new Macbook. My old PC where I used to sync my iPod was authorized by this account. All these apps are in that PC and on my iPod. Obviously I cannot authorize my Macbook because as I have said, I cannot access the account anymore. It's a long story but basically, I can't.
Now, I have transferred all apps that I purchased by an account of mine (different one) that has athorized my new Macbook. Transferred from my old PC to new Macbook (actually just the apps I decided I still wanted). By the way, I haven't synced the apps yet on my new Macbook. So this is how it all looks like: The apps that I need (purchased by my active account and the other one) are all on my iPod; All the apps on my new Macbook (purchased by active account) are on my iPod; The "unauthorized" apps are all on my iPod and my old PC.
When I try to sync the Macbook and my iPod, I cannot because it tells me I will lose these hundreds of apps (I'm not sure if it's because tey are unauthorized and/or the ones on my Macbook are supposed to replace the ones in my iPod). My goal here is to just allow both devices to sync smoothly everytime without losing any data. It can be the unauthorized apps stay in the iPod but it can still sync with the Macbook. Although if you have a way the unauthorized apps to be transfrred to my Macbook then all the better.
So how can I attain that?

So what I've done was delete all existing apps in my new Macbook and transferred all apps from my old PC to the new one. It was successful...until I try to sync it. This message comes up:
This computer is no longer authorized for apps that are installed on the iPod “Lauren”. Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?
If you do not authorize this computer, 137 apps, including “...™”, and their data will be deleted from this iPod.
So I have all apps on my iPod and my Macbook. Only problem is the Macbook cannot be authorized so whenever I try to sync them, it "threatens" to delete all "unauthorized" apps from my iPod.
Oh, and if I continue, I'm guessing those apps and their would really be gone from my iPod, but will they stay on my Macbook and sync the next time I try to sync them? Though if that works I still bet I will lose all data from my apps...
