Video Capture FPS drop

I was wondering if somebody could help. Every time I start capturing video with msi, my FPS always drops to 8. No matter what I do to settings, it's always eight, and never changes.

Also, knowing what system hardware you have might help a bit too.

  • 970 4G FPS drop for second screen when playing full screen video

    Hi,
I have two 1440p monitors connected to my graphcis card using DVI connectors.
Whenever I play a full screen video on the secondary screen, I was always get an FPS drop. It doesn't matter if I switch the cables around to make the other one the secondary screen.
I have tried replacing the monitors and the same thing happens and I can only conclude it must be the graphics card.
Does anyone know how I can troubleshoot this problem?

    1) I'm not familiar with this concept. Why would switching port type provide more bandwidth?
    2) Also, the card I'm referencing only has 1 display port connection. Would using one dvi and one display port cable work?
    1) Google for "dvi", "hdmi" & "displayport" and you'll find out why.
    2) use DisplayPort + dual-link DVI (always suggested by Nvidia)

  • Low Camera Capture FPS

    Hi there,
We have a Flash application doing camera capture and streaming it over RTMP to an AMS. Things work brilliantly for most USB webcams, however as soon as our users use a built-in cheap webcam (say Lenovo) the FPS drops to 7-8fps.
We try to rule out as many external factors as possible and ended up with a simple loopback test. With our USB camera we can get 30fps loopback without any problem. But when switching to the built-in camera it drops to 7fps.
So then we try a simple self view (so no server side and no network traffic) with basically the following code:
    _camera = Camera.getCamera();
    _camera.setQuality(90000, 0); // prefer fps over quality
    _camera.setMode(640, 480, 39, false); // favorArea=false to prefer fps here too
    var localCame:Video = new Video();
    localCam.attachCamera(_camera);
    videoDisplay.addChild(localCam);
Here again the USB cam gets us a 30fps while the built-in gives us 13pfs (a little bit better...).
So it looks this is something related to the client side, it happens on both Windows and OSX (OSX built-in camera gives us a little better fps though ~20fps).
We tried different capture tools and they were all able to give us a 30fps with all cameras.
We also tried to change capture resolutions to make sure we were using a resolution natively supported by the camera but same same...
Has anyone experienced the same issue before?
    Thanks in advance,
    Nico

  • EtreCheck because of FPS Drops - how to interpretate?

I already read several posts about FPS Drops on MBPs, but no entry helped to me (esp because my EtreCheck seems a bit different to the others)
I am really sorry if this is a "double post", but i already gave up trying it for myself. Next to that im not such an experienced mac user and pretty unsure about editing/replacing/deleting system files.
Here's my EtreCheck entry, i really hope someone can help me with that and if you can see if there's a problem on my mac causing FPS Drops (it started about 3 days ago)

  • Huge FPS Drop after installing Mavericks OS x on MBPr

Ever since installing Mavericks OSx on my 8gb (2012) MBPr I have been experiencing huge FPS drops that make gaming in WoW and LoL completely unplayable.  This is nothing new I've had FPS problems in the past, but was able to resolve them by resetting my SMC.
    I have reset my SMC
    Reset my PRAM
    Turned off Automatic Graphics Switching
Closed all Programs and Ran WoW on a clean restart
And still continue to have these issues.
    Any help is greatly appreciated

    Hi,
I have the same config (MBPr 2012 - 8GB DD3 - 2.3GHz i7 - GT 650M 1GB). I play StarCraft 2, it was running great on Mountain Lion and was still running fine for a few weeks after I installed Mavericks, now I'm stuck at 40 FPS at best, the game feels really bad overall
I reset the SMC, reset the PRAM, repaired permissions, turned off auto graphic switching, disabled AppNap on StarCraft 2, repaired SC2, cleared my user caches, ran an extended Apple hardware test, ran a TechTool Pro video card test, ... Nothing came up and nothing helped !

  • Drop frame video to non-drop frame clip warning (again)

So my most recent search of why this warning comes up reveals no good answers (unless someone can point me to a thread I overlooked...cuz I can't narrow it down without getting threads about folks who have gotten dropped frames during capture, which isn't the same situation)...
I shoot on an XL2 (drop frame) and capture with a DSR-11. Once in a while I will finish going through log and capture (in the log and capture window), setting ins, outs, etc. but I go to batch capture and it gives me the warning. All my ins/outs have semi-colons, I haven't changed the setting on my camera since I started using it more than 18 months ago, and it doesn't happen all the time. I do have the "abort capture on dropped frames" box unchecked as well (if that matters).
99.99% of the time, I've captured and there's no problems with syncing or anything. Thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Jonathan

If I recall right someone suggest to have your tape playing while opening Log and Capture, but I might recall wrong
I already have the "Abort on dropped frames" and "report dropped frames" unchecked.
Don't be mistaken: Dropped frames are a totally different issue from non-drop and drop frame timecode.
Drop frame timecode drops (or better: skips) timcodenumbers while counting the videoframes. That is a system to compensate for the 29,97 frames per second in order to calculate the correct length of a clip.
Dropped frames (as in "Abort on dropped frames" and "report dropped frames") is an error. Due to some reason the hardware isn't capable to record/digitize every single videoframe to your harddisk. e.g. Your captured file will have 2000 frames, while your footage on tape had 2003. Three frames were dropped then during capture. And your video will noticeble stutter at these points.
So I'd strongly recommend to do check the "Abort on dropped frames" and "report dropped frames"-options. You don't want stuttering video do you. So if your hardware couldn't handle the videofeed somehow, it would resp. abort capture or warn you that it happened.

  • Video capture card for Arch Linux

    Hi all,
I'm wanting to do some home video stuff with cinerella etc. But i am not sure what video capture cards are going to work at the right resolutions and fps etc.
I want to record from a video input not tv tuner and i want to be able to to get a tv / film quality.
I am not worried about outputting video as my GFX card can do that and also i will burn to dvd.
Have any of you guys got any suggestions for me please , of makes / models that will work fine with the great ARCH ?
    Cheers
    Justin Smithies

I bought the cheapest Hauppauge 150 card I could find, and it's worked well with every linux box I've stuck it in, Arch included.  Most Hauppauge cards have a combo of inputs, including rca, svideo, and coax.  I'm not sure what you mean by
I want to record from a video input not tv tuner and i want to be able to to get a tv / film quality.
but you should be able to record anything you can send through the card.  If you mean you want hdtv quality, then I'm no help - I looked at those options, but decided that 720x480 was going to be fine for 99% of my use.  There is a ton of info at the myth site and the ivtv site, as well as the knoppmyth site.

  • Video Capture Card for Adobe Connect

Does anyone have any recommendations for a video capture card for the Mac to use with Adobe Connect? I have a HD camera that I want to connect to my Mac through the S video connection on the camera. I need a video capture card that will work with Adobe Connect.

The Video Telephony Pod is the video pod when Video Telephony Conferencing equipment/cameras are configured to talk with Adobe Connect. This was introduced in Connect 8.1 for SIP and H.264  based VTC systems. It will only work with H.264 video streams from the VTC type cameras found in conference rooms. Usually the major players in the U.S. are Polycom and Tandberg.
The VTC Pod appears as a standard pod once the administrator of an Adobe Connect on-premise server has configured the various admin screens and added the SIP addesees to the configuration xml file.
The video quality is different than the webcam video as here is a table:
    Tandberg 990:
    Profile Level At FMG End
    Video Out At Device
    High
    1200.0kbps  448p
    Medium
    600.0 kbps   448p
    Low
    250kbps       CIF
    Tandberg Edge 95 MXP:
    Profile Level At FMG End
    Video Out At Device
    High
    1700 kbps w720p
    Medium
    600kbps    w448p
    Low
    250kbps    w288p
    More information on formats:
    768 x 448@30fps (w448p)
    576 x 448@30fps (448p)
    512 x 288@30fps (w288p)
    352 x 288@30fps (CIF)
    176 x 144@30fps (QCIF)
So, that HIGH, MEDIUM and LOW refer to the Adobe Connect room preference setting for video. Notice that HIGH shows we can deliver 720p resolution.
The normal webcam video pod is locked to 480p (VGA) 4x3 resolution at 20 frames per second but the server admin on an on-premise install  can alter a configuration xml file to go 24 fps but not higher than VGA on the webcam pod.
Probably more than you ever imagined I would share but that's my style.
    Take care.

  • Major bug in flash 10.2/10.3 beta. FPS drop in 1080p, HA.

Not sure if it has been reported before but there's a huge bug in the hardware acceleration on flash 10.2 and 10.3 beta.
    The issue:
If you run 1080p youtube content fullscreen, hardware acceleration on, the FPS drop to 30-80% of what it should be, AFTER you seek in the video and flip back and forth fullscreen mode (if you don't do that, it just runs fine). If the FPS doesn't drop, then just flip/back fullscreen some more and seek some more, it pretty soon will drop. Once it dropped, it will stay low for the rest of the movie.
It's easy to verify when you put the FPS counter ('show video info') on screen, but you can also see it by just closely watching the video and see how it becomes less smooth.
When you disable the hardware acceleration the issue is gone.
    Tested and confirmed on:
    Win7, winXP
    Chrome, IE, Mozilla
    Flash 10.2 and 10.3 beta
    Nvidia, ATI (both latest drivers)
So. pretty much everybody suffers from it I guess ...

Thanks for your report; We'll look in to this.

  • Digital video capture and the K8T Neo

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck capturing digital video with a machine based on this motherboard.  I've tried using various programs, including Adobe Premiere Pro, Scenalyzer, DVIO, and Movie Maker.  Regardless of what I use, I end up with enough dropped frames to make the video very choppy in places, especially if I try to capture type-2 (video for Windows) DV, as Premiere Pro requires for editing.
    Here's my setup:
    MSI K8T Neo
    AMD Athlon-64 3400+

2 X Maxtor 250 GB SATA hard drives (model 7Y250M0)
    Plextor 708-A DVD+/-RW
I've tried the following configurations of hard drives with no success:
500 GB RAID0 array on Via controller, 60 GB drive on tertiary IDE, running from one drive and capturing to the other
250 GB drive on Via controller, 250 GB drive on Promise controller, 60 GB drive on secondary IDE, tried capturing to each
I've run some tests of disk write speeds, and they seem more than adequate for video capture (approximately 50 MB/s write for the SATA drives, 25 MB/s for the Ultra ATA drive).
I've read that there were issues with PCI bus throughput with slightly older Via chipsets, and that there have generally been issues with Via ATA controllers.
So, has anyone successfully used this motherboard to capture digital video?  What did you have to do to prevent frame drop?
Thanks in advance for any advice...

  • Why won't video capture?

I have been using FCE for years. Recently I tried to capture video and it would only grab a frame, then freeze, then grab another one a few seconds later and so on and so on.
I am using a Sony camcorder plugged into an ADVC-100, which connects via FireWire. Easy Setup is set to DV-NTSC FireWire basic. I've also switched to DV-NTSC Converter but I ran into the same problem. I also tried a different camera plugged directly into my iMac and the same problem occurred. I've tried capturing to two separate external hard drives that I have used in the past and I get the same result.
    Anyone know the solution?
    Thanks,

  • Abort Capture on Dropped Frames Feature is Not Saving Captured Media

I have searched for this specific problem here without any results. I'm simply capturing regular SD DV and am getting dropped frames. Even though the dropped frames is an issue that I shouldn't be encountering, that's not the reason for this post. The bigger problem is that FCP 6 is not saving the file prior to the abort.
The manual specifically states on page 308 Part IV " Abort capture on dropped frames: When this option is selected, capture stops immediately when a dropped frame is detected. All media captured before the dropped frame has frame-accurate timecode and is preserved. The resulting media file is saved and a clip for that media file is placed in the Browser."
Well the issue is, FCP is NOT saving the file to my hard drive much less it's NOT placing the clip in my Browser. I can spend 50 minutes and get a dropped frame and it aborts capture (that's what I want it to do) but the time spent capturing that 50 minutes of media is simple gone. Poof, no file, no nothing. So what gives, anyone else seen this problem?
I am up to date on all software.

Hi Michael, thanks for the feedback.
I have a MacPro 2.66 GHz dual-Core Intel Xeon with 5 GB of ram. Internal 250 GB system drive with an additional internal Seagate Barracuda 750 GB drive 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s drive Model number ST3750640AS which I have captured my previous project, and now am capturing only my 2nd project to.
Note: I have only captured 2 projects to date on this new Mac. The first project consisted of around 5 tapes which I captured each one using the CAPTURE NOW feature without any problems (with the exception of the reset timecode which FCP handled as advertised and stated below). So far I've captured 10 tapes from my 2nd project. So I still have well over 500 GB free on that drive.
I am capturing via firewire from a Sony DSR-11. I only use one brand of tape, the Panasonic AY-DVM63AMQ. My cameras are 2 Sony VX2000 and one VX2100. I know for a fact that I need to replace the internal battery in my oldest VX2000 because every time I turn it on, I get a warning that I need to set the clock, and everything else has reset itself to default settings. However, this is not the camera that I have been experiencing timecode reset with. It's my other (not as old) VX2000. I don't use my cams to capture to the computer, that's why I purchased the DSR-11. With this camera, it will reset timecode frequently with the camera still powered on, but stopped (not pause mode). The tape is not being previewed or anything causing it to play past the preexisting recorded media which wold in fact cause a timecode reset as you stated in your last message. So I don't know what is wrong with this camera, I'm fairly certain the internal battery is good because it keeps time on it's own. I'm hoping it just needs a good cleaning, but I'm afraid it may be something worse. I'm getting ready to send it off for a checkup this week.
In any case, about 80% of the time, FCP has been able to properly detect timecode reset when it is encountered, and it does in fact pause recording, save the first file, and reposition itself to the new timecode and start recording a new file as advertised. The other 20% of the time it has simply paused the DSR playback, saved the file, and informed me that the tape has reached the end of the recorded media, which it hasn't but In these cases it's not detecting a timecode reset. I then have to press the stop button in my capture window to actually move the deck from pause to stop mode.
Now, the dropped frame issue on capture is a separate issue. According the the FCP manual (as I stated in my first post) it is suppose to abort capture, but still salvage what has been captured thus far, and it is not doing this. Thus far over the course of these first 2 projects on my Mac, I have only encountered dropped frames on capture twice, and both times while capturing from this 2nd project. The first time this happen, I was doing a lot of stuff in the background, i.e. checking email, browsing some web site, but nothing that consisted of playing video or audio, and I was doing some iChat (simple chat, not screen sharing or video/audio conferencing or anything like that. So I attributed my drop frame to the fact I was doing too much in the background. I then decided that I would NOT be playing around in the background any more while capturing. So I was quite surprised when I received yet another dropped frame notification at around 50 minutes. It did about capture as advertised, but it did not salvage the media it had already captured.
So... that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
Thanks for your time, I appreciate the help.

  • CS4 MPEG 2 export settings for video captured by sony cybershot dsc-w35

    Hi,
I am trying to export a project (which contains video captured by my sony cybershot dsc-w35 digital camera) in MPEG 2 format (not sure if there is a better format I should be using, but I tried to do it in AVI before and the resulting file was way too large), and the resulting exported file always comes out with choppy video. The video capture settings for my cybershot camera (and thus the source video in my project) are:
         - VGA (640 x 480)
         - framerate: 25 fps
At the outset, I am using DV (only other option is HDV) as capture format, and I selected DV-PAL: Standard: 48 kHz as my Sequence preset. I have no idea if thi is the appropriate preset for me to be using, but it seems logical since its timebase is 25 fps and it says a 4:3 video ratio in the description, and almost every other preset seems to be intended for HD video and higher framrates or ratios, etc.
At the export stage, I select MPEG 2 format, and other than that I really have no idea what settings I should be using. I set the preset to Custom and under the Video section I switch the framerate to 25 and the pixel aspect ratio to 4:3. Everything else I pretty much leave the same.
Can anyone tell me why the export file always comes out choppy? (it is not choppy when I watch it in Premiere itself). I must be either using the wrong preset at the beginning or in the export stage (or both). The VGA capture setting of my camera seems like it might be an issue as none of the presets in Premiere appear to accomodate it. Any help is sincerely appreciated!

Thanks for the prompt response, Hunt.
The spec sheet you referred to is actually for the Sony cybershot dsc-w350, whereas my camera is the sony cybershot dsc-w35. that's probably the reason for the discrepancy. When looking at the properties of the source video I am using it says 25 fps, so does this mean I should be using a PAL preset in the export stage? I see what you mean about using a Desktop (custom) preset for the sequence preset, and for this I set the framerate to 25, frame width to 640 and height to 480 (to match my camera settings), but what should I set the pixel width to?
In the export stage, I select custom preset again, but within this there are lots of options (mostly under the Video tab) I am unsure about. Should I be using PAL instead of NTSC since I'm using a 25 fps framerate? I can also scroll video quality anywhere from 1 to 5, any ideas? I can also choose various pixel aspect ratios here and then there are a bunch of bitrate settings I am totally cluseless about. Also, under the Multiplexer tab, there is an option between constant and variable bitrate types, which should I use? Thanks again

            Format mform = new Format(/*Here the requested string*/);
            formatControl.setFormat(mform);Thanks ;)

In fact i succeed to set format, i just want to know how to make a right sentence (String) for the Format(String) constructor, including capture resolutio, fps ....

  • Editing VHS Video Imported to iMovie Using Elgato Video Capture

I have imported video using Elgato Video Capture and want to edit it in iMovie. Specifically I want to permanently delete some of the Event video which is of poor quality. I can mark it as "Reject" but I cannot move the "Reject" to Trash. How can I do this?

I see the drop down menus. One is "Move Rejected to Trash" and beside it "Hide Rejected". If I click "Hide Rejected", the rejected clips are hidden. If I click "Move Rejected to Trash", nothing appears to happen.
