Video Capture with GF4 TI4200

I seem to be haveing a few problems with video capture on my PC.
I am using my TI4200 TV-in function from my VCR/CC to capture footage. I am also using the latest WDM drivers from the nvidia site.
However everyso often i will get an annoying white block straight accross the screen and i try to recapture but it will happen, maybe somewhere else! what can i do?
I have used ULEAD and WIN MM and IV WinPro to try this!  :(

Installing the OLDER video capture drivers seems to have corrected my problem with the white bar.
http://download.nvidia.com/Windows/23.11/WDM_1.08.exe
When I tried the NEW video capture listed on the MSI pages for the 8X agp the HUE on the capture was WAY OFF. No Blues were present AND I still had the WHITE BAR syndrome.
Why does the OLDER capture driver work and not the NEW ones. Seems like I am taking steps backwards to get a NEW video card to function properly. I am running Win2K with an AMD 2400, Gigabyte mb, 1gig ram, 1st hd 80 gig, 2nd hd, 120 gig, yamaha cdrw, 4x dvd burner.

At what point is the video quality bad?  Is it bad on capture?  I would recommend using an s-video 1394 firewire converter instead.  They capture the video at a higher bit rate.  If you have a lot of 8mm tapes to capture, invest in a stand alone DVD recorder.  They capture and compress in one shot.  If you need to rip it back from the DVD into iMovie again, I would recommend using DVDxDV.

Can I use Elgato VHS Video Capture with my Macbook Pro? It comes with a CD on which is the software. My Macbook pro does not have a CD drive. how do i get the software?

Elgato provides a download link to their latest Video Capture software v1.1.5. Supposedly runs on Snow Leopard and later. They recommend Yosemite.

  • Video Capture with WinProducer

    Hello,
I just bought a Ti4200-VTD8X and I'm trying to capture DV type 2 avi using WinProducer. The hard drive that I am capturing it to has 50gb free but yet I am getting an error after 30-40 min that my hard drive is low on disk space. The resulting AVI file is a little over 9gb in size so there is still plenty of space left. I have captured DV type 2 avi using Studio 8 and Edition 5 with no problem. Does anyone know a fix to this problem?
    WinProducer 2.0
WDM driver 1.08 (driver without Macrovision)
    Detonator driver 45.23
    Windows XP SP1
    Thank You,
    -pjman

I have found WinProducer 2 to be feeble at doing anything other than the most simplest of editing. I did try analogue capture using the DV codec and had simular experiences. It may be memory/harddrive space but I am very sceptical though as using a decent (Media Studio Pro)video editor/capture program it does not exhibit these problems.
Also do not get confused between firewire transfer and analogue capture they are 2 total different operations. If when you used Studio8 etc you used Firewire transfer you are only transfering a file from camera to the harddrive so very little CPU time and memory is used. Where as Analogue capture using what ever codec requires lots of processing time, memory and hardrive space to process and convert/compress the video stream. Analogue video will benefit from having a dedicated harddrive just for video purposes. It may also help to kill all background tasks prior to any analogue captures, i.e. just the neccesary system programs (no virus checker etc.) and the video capture program running in memory.

  • Video Capture with FX 5900 XT VTD

Hope this is not redundant.  I sent a message to GlennVideo but I don't think it went through.  Trying to find my way around the forum and to post this message. So here goes.
I recently purchased the FX 5900 XT VTD 128 card and installed it on my new computer (Pentium4 2.8).  The video display on my monitor is exceptional but there is no video capture.  I have read through the basics, installed the capture drivers from the CD that came in the package (nv4_disp version 6.14.10.5303) but after connecting the RCA banana video and audio plugs to the 4 in 1 connector that came with the unit and turning the VCR on nothing happens.  I did complete a "customer problem description form" from the MSI web site and sent it along but there has been no response thus far. I did not receive an automated response indicating the message had been received by them.  So I will resend and turn to the forum as well for help.  I have 512 of 2700 memory on this computer plus an MSI motherboard, 865PE New2-P.  Appreciate any suggestions.  Thanks.
       LJ Brown

Well that's the rub, a manual did not come with my package.  I downloaded the manual from the web site and the package contents shown their does include a manual.  The only written material was a small brochure on installing hardware and software.  And the online manual is essentially the same; no help in how to use the capture program.  Yes 5 discs came in the box but seemed to be games, "Morrowind, Duke Nukem, Ghost Recon",etc.  And in that group is the WinDVD Creator; but I didn't appreciate what it was because of being grouped with the games until you responded to my note on the forum site.  Anyway I installed the program.  It doesn't seem to recognize my VCR connection.  When I activate the capture button the a picture of a TV screen comes up with the words "nVidia WDM Video Capture (...." next to it.  And when my VCR that is properly connected is turned on nothing happens.  If I hit the burn button a timer is started but I see nothing.  I was anticipating that if the program was recording from th VCR I should be able to monitor what is coming across on the large black TV monitor on the left half of the screen?  No substantive advice in the help section either.  So I'm still struggling and hopeful you or someone on the forum can guide me further.  Essentially all of the descriptions in the creator help section address digital material but always indicating that VCR material (analog) can be captured as well.

  • Anyone using Elgato Video Capture with good results?

I've got some VHS tapes that I want to edit in iMovie '11 (and/or FCE).
Viewed on a TV monitor, the image quality of the tapes varies from acceptable to very good - but I am very disappointed with the quality of the video once imported, using Elgato Video Capture, to my MBP. It is very indistinct and washed out. Only the audio remains as clear as the original.
Anyone had any success with using Video Capture to convert old tapes?
Any advice and/or feedback would be much appreciated!

Thanks Coolmax - I tried that, but no discernible improvement unfortunately.
These are the tech specs from the Elgato site:
    Video resolution: 640×480 (4:3) or 640×360 (16:9)
    Video format: H.264 at 1.4 MBit/sec or MPEG-4 at 2.4 MBit/sec
    Audio: AAC, 48kHZ, 128 kBit/sec
I've tried both H.264 and MPEG-4 without much success. The resulting footage is always extremely grainy and 'muddy'. Any other ideas?
If I understand this correctly, Elgato can save your footage either in H.264 or MPEG-4 and you tried both. If the original file plays with ok quality and the resulting footage after being finalized by iMovie 11 look worse, I think we need to determine what are you finalizing to?
In "Export to Quicktime", you can choose the compressor to "none". Do this with a short clip as the resulting file will be big. Play back this video.
If there is a degradation in video, then you know it is iMovie 11 process that is causing it. From here on, you can further compress the video using Handbrake and adjust the settings to give best quality vs size.
There are software available on the PC side that can enhance and resize an already weak VHS captured footage and make it look better before you import it into iMovie 11. But this require quite a bit of computer horsepower to complete it in any acceptable time frame.

  • Need video capture with overlay

I am looking for a video capture card or camera that I can use to capture video of a sample under test.  Labview would be controlling the test and I would need to have the test parameters displayed as a text overlay on the captured video in real time.
What sort of capture device can I start/stop with Labview and also insert a text overlay as frames are captured?  I would also prefer the frames to be built into some standard video format like AVI as they are captured.
I don't need to do any "vision" processing on the video. I just want to capture and save.   I would like to capture using a firewire megapixel camera for higher resolution if possible.

    Hi BDS,
From what I understand, you are looking for these hardware and software
    capabilities:
    - Use FireWire camera and/or framegrabber card
    - Insert text overlay
    - Create AVIs
If you would like to do image acquisition with a FireWire camera in LabVIEW, you
will need to use the NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 driver that comes bundled in the Vision Acquisition
Software.  You can either plug the camera in directly to a computer
with a built-in FireWire port or use the PCI-8252 FireWire interface device
(which comes with the NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 driver).  For information on
other framegrabber card options (for non-FireWire cameras), please see the NI Vision Hardware website.
The functions for creating AVIs are included in the Vision Acquisition
Software.  The text overlays, however, are functions only found in our
    image processing software, the Vision
Development Module.  All these sites can be found on the main NI Machine Vision page; let me know if you
have any more questions after viewing  this information.

  • Video Capture with the iMac

Hi. Not quite a computer nerd so bear with me please
I purchased a Kaiser Baas VHS to DVD video capture thingo the other day and really wanted to use it on my 20" iMac (at the time with Mac OS X Leopard) with my PS2. It's a Empia USB 2861 device? Am I right?
So I installed the driver it came with connected it to my iMac, connected the PS2, opened up Empia capture (that it came with) and I got some nice video capture BUT NO SOUND! When I go into the sound settings of Empia capture, the device doesn't even come up in the source list. So went through a million forums on the net and discussions and couldn't find anything to help me.
So then.... I looked at my beautiful new 13" MacBook with Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Plugged in the Kaiser Baas video capture device, installed it, connected my PS2, opened up Empia Capture and found some nice video capture AS WELL AS SOUND TO GO WITH IT! Perfect exactly what I wanted.... BUT on a 13" MacBook.
I really want this all on my 20" iMac. So then I thought... maybe it was to do with Leopard and Snow Leopard, so thought I might as well upgrade to Snow Leopard on the iMac tisn't thaaaaaat expensive.
    But still doesn't work.....
    Anyone know what's going on?

I have no idea how to help you, but I thought I'd point out that you posted your iMac question in the MacBook forum. <G> You may get more responses if you post [here|http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=132].
    Good luck!

  • Video captured with ground loop hum (analog interference)

A client brought me this clip on showsite last week. Before I had this video imported in my system, I only saw it in a 5-inch capture window and thought it was an interlacing issue. Turns out it is actually analog interference, caused by the composite feed from the MOTU HDX-SDI. The feed was sent out over a VGA-to-5-wire fanout cable on GREEN and must have picked up some interference along the way. When captured, it was assumed that was just the preview and that the video lookeed fine...
I am wondering if there is any way to remove a diagonal (herringbone) ground-loop hum from video. There seems to be a pattern to it, as it slowly rools up, then down a bit then back up and off the screen - only to start all over again... I will attach some a video of what it looks like.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/nesri9s7ngg5mq3/BChil%20Interference%20Sample%20-%20saved%20as%2 0DV%20codec.avi
This was recorded at 720x486, 29.97i in Apple Pro Res initially, but this uploaded clip is a 720x480,29.97i DV codec file. Should I de-interlace it first, or try to do something with it interlaced? Seems it would be easier to deal with frames than fieldsx2 when trying to isolate this interference, but not sure... Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here is a still (with logo blacked out)

Well, after very limited playing with the settings in Neat Video and this clip, I am already here - without losing really any of the detail. I am thinking of working with luminance mostly after this, as it now seems to be a "pulsing" in the highs and possibly mid-tones... Any suggestions?!
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/thr505xogdlfrdb/AVID_Orlando_AFTER_first-pass.mpeg
This a huge sigh of relief for my client already. I showed him this and it is now acceptable. Less than ideal, but acceptable. Being a perfectionist, I still want to make it better - i.e. some of the diagonol lines still rear their ugly head in the flesh tones and lectern...
Thanks again Charles for making me second-guess myself. Jim, any thoughts?

  • Synchronous video capturing with a simple webcam with DIAdem-DAC/Visual

    Hello,
because of DIAdem is not able to synchronise captured video files and MDF-data files measured with
Vector Canape with all the skills of and in DIAdem-VIEW,
how about even capturing a video additional to the other measured data with DIAdem-DAC ??
Vector Canape can this do with a simple webcam ( a better model from Logitech suffice ) and it really works fine,
but DIAdem is much better for the rest of all measuring tasks and so our favourite.
And yes : DIAdem  can  data acquisition and we like it  !!!

    Hallo,
diese Funktion vermisse ich seit Jahren bei Diadem. Die Hardware (Web-cam) gibts längst an jeder Ecke nur Diadem hinkt (u.a. Vector) hinterher, das kanns ja wohl nicht sein ....

  • Problem with video capture with Blackmagic Intensity Pro card

I have just installed a blackmagic Intensity Pro card to download analogue VCR tapes to DVD. I have set all the input parameters to the Blackmagic card in both Premiere and the input routine for the card. I am using the breakout cable for NTSC input with the green Y input for the video and the L & R audio inputs. When I try to capture I get snow in the premiere capture window, but it does record the L & R audio. When I stop the tape deck I momentarily get the blue screen with STOP showing and then back to snow. I am hoping it is just a setting somewhere but where????
The computer is running Vista 32 home premium with 3G ram
    Comments very welcome

Is there a BlackMagic setting required to tell the driver to see the green as composite rather than component?

  • Video capture with Sat Pro M70: What ports and leads can I use?

I want to edit my home movies on my Sat Pro M70 using WXP Pro (win dvd or movie maker). I want to capture the video from my panasonic camcorder which has digital tapes. what ports can I use and what leads do I need? I am desperate to edit my recent wedding video to put onto DVD and post to my mum. The panasonic website has been ignoring me! Any advice anyone ??

Well, as far as I know this unit has only an S-video out port. In this case you can connect the notebook to the TV and watch the picture from notebook on TV but its not possible to receive any signals from TV or any other device on notebook.
To receive the signals you need a composite port or an s-video in port.
However, if the camcorder has a firewire port so you can send the digital files thru the firewire connection. But this should only works with digital files which are saved on the camcorder.
