Video captures but won't dub or print to video

I am using Final Cut Pro 5.1. Capturing video works perfectly, but when I try to dub onto tape or print to video, all I get is black. What's really odd is that when I print to video and check "Automatically start recording," the DV deck DOES automatically start recording, but then the video will play on the computer's screen and not the monitor for the tape deck. Also, video and audio should be coming through the monitor while I am editing, but that isn't working either.
I have refreshed A/V devices, quit FCP and started the program again, and "All Frames" is checked under View->External Video.
One more qualifier. The last time I used this deck was in early December (and it worked perfectly). A week later, it wasn't communicating with the computer at all and I thought it would have to be replaced. I went on vacation and came back and now it's working again (but with the problem I just described above).

Fixed it myself. The DV deck was on the wrong channel.

See video in capture, but won't capture.

I see the video in my capture screen. I want to use Capture Now, but when I choose it, the next pop-up screen remains black (with the final cut express logo), and the text in the silver box says "Searching for Timecode". Then the preview screen is disabled too. I look in the viewfinder of my camera, and the tape is still rolling. I press escape, and nothing was captured at all.
What is going on here? Never had a problem with this before. Checked settings. Any help?...
(Samsung SCO103 connected by firewire into macbook pro. Recently installed Snow Leopard, if that is relevant...)

I figured out how to use the DV Converter set-up to make the camera a non-controllable device. Now I can capture for about 2-3 minutes of footage before I get this warning:
"Capture encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape. This could be due to a problem with the tape. Capture has been aborted and your clip has been saved."
Is this simply a gremlin related to playing this tape back on another brand of camera? It was recorded on a JVC camera, and is being captured from a Samsung. Is this a common problem: where people need to play back on the original deck and hopscotch the footage into the system? Please advise. I really don't want to import 3 hours of footage in 2 minute increments.

Printing a PDF file saves .prn but won't go to printer

Windows 7 Utlimate, 32-bit.. Acrobat Pro 9.5.5. An HP Officjet and a Brother laser printer, both networked.
Whenever I try to print from Acrobat, instead of going to my chosen printer I get a Save dialog box for a .prn file. Thus, I can no longer print from Acrobat.
This started a couple of weeks ago. I have made no changes to my system, printers, or Acrobat, unless there were some automatic updates in background.
All my other software (Excel, WordPerfect, Firefox, etc.) continue to print normally.

Solved!
Somehow, the "Print to file" box became checked as a default. I never even noticed, as I don't think I ever used that choice in many years of using Acrobat Pro.

Captures but won't export Anamorphic

Hi..
I'm using FCP 4.5 in conjunction with a Sony Handycam. I'm shooting in the Cam's 16:9 aspect, and can successfully capture such clips, and edit them in FCP4.5, often in real time, even on a 1.42Ghz Mini!
However, when I export the edited clip using either "Current Settings" or NTSC Anamorphic, the resulting clip is still 720 x 480, not 800 x 450 as it should be!
FCP "knows" that the clip is Anamorphic. I use QT Pro to "fix" the clip back to the proper 16:9 ratio.
Is there something I'm missing here in my workflow which can make FCP just handle it once and be done with it?

You are operating under wrong assumptions. There is no such thing as DV 800x450
DV standard is 720x480
DV widescreen is 720x480 anamorphic
The pixel dimensions are the same. The difference is in the Pixel Aspect Ratio
Quicktime seems to ignore the anamorphic flag and so will not display anamorphic clips correctly. The workaround is to go into QT player and tell it that the clip is 16:9 anamorphic.

AEBS, won't let me print wirelesly. problem over 2 months, please help.

I can not print wirelesly via AEBS, please help it drives me crazy.
Our computers:
Macbook pro 2ghz, lates update 10.4.6
G4 powerbook, latest update 10.4.6
AEBS latest update V5.7
Epson RX500, with latest updates on our machines.
We have ADSL conection. I have a router which connects AEBS to the internet.
Both G4 and Macbook connects without problem to the internet.
Epson printer is connected to AEBS.
When I tried to add printer in macosx I'm able to see the printer. I follow instructions and printer is added. I can see the name of printer and lokation on AEBS. All is corect, but won't let me print wirelesly. (with usb no problem).
I played with AEBS utility where funny thing happend. There is in Network share a single IP address. When I change it from 10.0.1.1 to 192.168.1.1 addressing then I can print, but internet doesn't work. (192.168.1.1 is my zyxel router so I understand that should not work anyway).
If I set it back 10.0.1.1 than internet works and printing not.
what else should I configure?

You should ensure that under the Network Tab, the AEBS is configured to NOT distribute IP addresses as you already have the Zyxel router doing that function on your network.

Laptop sees Photosmart on network, but won't connect

I have a Pavilion dv4 with Windows 7. I have a Photosmart C4795. My printer used to be hooked up to my desktop, but my HP Desktop has crashed and it's trash. So now I'm trying to hook my laptop up to my printer on the network. For two days, I was able to connect and download with no problems, but my laptop would never print. Wouldn't even do a test page. Uninstalled and reinstalled at least 10 times. I ran the scan doctor and it said there was nothing wrong with my printer, but it wouldn't print a test page either. It then had me do an internal test page and that one work, so it diagnosed that the software was bad.
All of that was yesterday. NOW TODAY, I uninstalled and reinstalled the software. It's the most up to date software and drivers from the HP Support page. Now, my printer recognizes that the printer is on the network, but won't install the printer. It did the diagnostics, then brought up the screen where it showed my computer on the left, modem in the middle, printer on the right. It gets about halfway through setting it up, then quits and says it can't complete. I ran the scan doctor again and it says that the full software version is not installed. I JUST downloaded it from the website and installed it twice and it won't work. The version I download from the website is around 146mb, but when I download it from the scan doctor page, it's over 200 mb. I run that software and it is exactly the same.
I have tried to set it up via usb. It gets to the 7th of the 8 steps, then it won't go any further. Again, the printer is detected, but it says the appropriate drivers aren't there.
I have tried to set up it's own port using it's USB and a different driver, but that gives me an error. Unable to install printer. Operation could not be completed (error 0x000003eb).)
Would someone please help me, and then if I reply with what it is doing next, please respond?
Please help me get through this. Two days now and I don't have a solution.

Print to Video only works with some Sequence settings via Firewire to the recording device. Are your Sequence settings for both Sequences the same?

Video with JWPlayer does load, but won't play and no error message (as plug-in needed) apear. What's the problem?

video's with JWPlayer start loading but won't play and stay black with a rolling wheel. The player is shown and even full screen can be activated.
There is no message for a missing plug-in.

Do you see an error message about this in the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer;Command+Shift+K)?
Is there a shield or other extra icon on the left end of the location bar indicating that content is blocked?

Printer connected, printer works, but won't print from Mac

I'm helping someone with a printer problem, and I have a mystery on my hands.
The printer is connected (directly), shows up in the printer list, can print a test page, but won't print any document from this computer (it's fine from my laptop).
It's a Mid-2011 Mini, 2.3Ghz, running 10.7.5. The printer is an Epson WF-2540.
This is a USB printer, connected directly to their Mac.
In "Settings", when you select Print/FAX and print a "Test Page" - Success! This is a process that invokes the Epson Driver directly [and bypasses the MAC print queuing mechanism]
When "Printing" from within any application (firefox, TextEdit, winders...)   The job starts to queue, but errors before engaging the printer.
R & R the Epson Drivers, Clear the Printer "stuff" on the Mac, Reinstall drivers from the Epson website, Mac wants to update the "newest" Epson Drivers (kinda' funny when I think about it...).
Still errors.
I attached directly to a USB port on my MacBook Pro. Download drivers, etc.. Works like a champ!
We have deleted the printer from System Prefs, rebooted, and added it back.
We have even gone into Terminal and...
sudo bash
cd /etc/cups/ppd
ls
found EPSON_WF_2540_Series.ppd
cp * /var/tmp/
ls /var/tmp/*.ppd
rm /etc/cups/ppd/*
Still doesn't work.
Anybody have any suggestions?

In System Preferences>Fax & Print, Right click or Control+click on the Printers list Sidebar, choose Reset Printing System.
if you hold option and click the "-" tab it resets the printing system.

HP C7250 has all colors of ink but won't print in color

My HP C7250 shows that all ink levels are OK on the display, but it won't print in color becasue it says tht the Cyan cartridge is low. I recently replaced the Cyan cartidge with a new one and the display shows that the ink level is full, but when i go to print I get a message that the ink level for Cyan is still low.
The printer is out of warranty. Anyone have an idea of how i can get this printer to print in color again?
I have tried reinstalling the catridge, and the same thing happens.

I know this was a while ago, but did you resolve it easily? Mine has full colors, including cyan at 80%. It won't use the cyan for color printing at all, so all the colors are off. I think I have to chagne teh printhead since I've already cleaned them and changed the ink cartridge. Just curious. Thanks.

How can I download video from a Canon ZR30 video camera to my IMac. I bought Elgato Video Capture, but the connections do not match. There is no white female end in the camera. Also, the red and yellow connections are loose at the camera end.

There is nothing you can do if there is no printer driver available.
You can check Gutenprint Supported Printers for a driver if they have one.

When you say hit and miss do you mean sometimes you print a whole document with no problems, or do you mean each document has problems? This is from HP's website for your printer:
Your sig says 10.6.7 but your message says 10.7. So if it's really Lion, this printer isn't officially supported. Elsewhere on HP's site it says updated drivers will be available on your Mac via Software Update. Have you run that recently?
