Video Capturing in Color - MSI-8872

Hi,
I recently bought an MSI-8872 card (Geforce4 Ti 4600 with VIVO) and I am having trouble capturing video in color when I try to capture from anything that is not my old N64. If I try to capture from my VCR or my DVD player, I get only black and white images. I already tried the whole switching between Composite and S-Video thing, but nothing changes when I select one option or the other.
I have all the latest drivers installed (nVidia Detonator 40.72 and nVidia WDM drivers 1.19) and I already tried to capture using many different programs (Virtual Dub, Digital VCR, Windows Movie Maker, etc). I was wondering if anyone could help me with this problem.
Thanks

I talked to some people, apparently a composite to minijack adapter shouldn't be hard to find, so then I'll be able to test audio.
As for video being black and white, I had time to do a preliminary test on my system, and Intervideo did indeed make a black and white clip.  Windows Movie Maker did color, although the first frame was black and white for some reason.
Now, I think that Windows Movie Maker only does wmv, which means it wouldn't be useful for making VCDs and such as WinProducer is, in theory.  I haven't had time to check this out and won't until after finals week after this one.
I also have not yet installed the Winproducer patch, but from the description on the MSI download page it shouldn't be related.
I also plan to test out VirtualDub.
Needless to say, the program didn't crash for me as another forumer was complaining about in one of the other threads, but it does seem to have limited functionality thus far.

  • Video capture driver for MSI GeForce 2 Pro video card

    Hi,
I am in need of the nVidia WDM video capture driver for my Geforce 2 Pro video card. Model #M-8831. I was able to download it from the MSI/TW website over a year ago just fine. My computer crashed from a game bug a couple of months ago and MSI/TW does not list the capture driver I need any longer. I did email the company asking for help with no response back yet (after 2 weeks). You people may be my last hope.
I do have the cd that came with the video card, but I've never been able to install the capture driver from it. There is a button to install it, but it never gets loaded. I've tried browsing the cd and also tried installing it using the windows wizards with zero results. My only successful install was from the MSI home website.
If you need more information, please let me know.
     Thank you,

  • Video capture Cables with MSI StarForce 822 GeForce 3!

I have the VT64D and I woiuld very much like to know where to find the cables for this card, I need the A/V Cables... as I would like to have the full benefit of sound as well...
If anybody has this calbe/breakout box I would be Extremely interested in purchasing it...
    Thanks,
    Marc
PS: Its the second revision of Starforce 8822

If you have the Video Capture Driver installed then the video capture program should see it. On MSI site version 1.16 of the driver is available for download.
If you still have problems (e.g. too many frames lost) you can try using Virtual VCR (worked best in my case).

  • [GeForceFX] WDM video capture image size and position

    Hello to all.
When I do video capture with my MSI FX5900-VTD128, the picture is not centered correctly and not at the right size either.
Let's take for example that I want to record TLC. I always get a black vertical bar on the left side of the capture video and the TLC watermark is also missing on the screen. In other words, if I could move video capture screen to the left, I would regain the full video frame.
One of my friend has a different video capture card and he is able to correct the screen size and position. Is this possible with my video card ???
I have a lot of shaded options in my nVidia WDM setup. Things that I cannot change. Any clue on how I can resize my capture video and how to eneble shaded option ???
    Thanks !

Man... I have VHS tapes that I want to put on DVD... It reallly does not work... It looks like if the image was zoomed in and a little bit to much on the left...
Does someone know if it is possible to adjust zoom level and image centering on the nVidia WDM capture video screen ???
    Need some help here !

  • NO COLOR in video captures

Situation 1: VHS with RCAout connection, GF 5700 video card. The video is captured in black and white.
Situation 2:  DVD player with S-video cable. The video card capture in color. That is OK.
Situation 3: DVD player with RCA cable. The capture is again in black and white
I'm using Movie Maker, in "properties" the color configuration is not enable and is not possible to do it.
The VHS player doesn't have S-video out.
    Question ?
How can I do to capture video color from a VHS with RCA connection only ? Somebody could give me an Idea ?
    Thanks a lot
    Raul

    Ah well theres the problem
Theres plenty of software out there that will do a better job. However, if you want to stick with Media Maker, check that you have the latest version (v2.0 I believe) from Windows Update.

  • N79 video capture color shift

I have noticed that the video camera in my n79 is very sensitive to changes in light.  Often I get a major color shift during a video capture seemingly for no reason, especially when shooting outside.  Is this a defect or should I use a particular setting for video? Current settings are:
    quality: High(TV);
    scene mode:Auto;
    video light: off(shooting video outside during day);
    white balance: Automatic (this MIGHT be the culprit?);
    Color tone:Normal.
Two stills from video are attached; one is unnaturally vivid (almost day-glo!).
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hi Bill,
Thank you for drawing my attention to the fact that neither QT Player nor WMP have color mangement built in. Not having worked a lot with video in the past it had really not occurred to me that mainstream players like QT and WMP in this day and age would not be color managed.
On your suggestion I went looking for MPC HC and discovered that it has had color management built in since version 1.4 (needs to be enabled - View\Renderer Settings\Color Management\Enable). Works like a charm. However, when publishing to the net I must assume that a lot of viewers are using non color management players such as QT, WMP and others, and thus getting a less than optimal viewing experience. Sad story...
Thanks again for putting me on the right track.

    Wow, what a quick reply!
Delivery was going to be Quicktime HD and probably downconvering to SD MPEG2 for a DVD. I was just going to edit in HDV, since I'm not doing anything fancy, just to try it out as a workflow option (and previews for the client). The first couple of projects I've started on my Macbook Pro though have had this hue shift (I can post an example on-line if need be by filming my monitor...) It's not inherent in the actual captured QT file, just when being played back in FCP. When I export out of FCP the QT file looks great as well. I've never had this problem on my G5 tower with HDV from the same camera or captured the same way. I'm worried that it's the univeral copy of FCP or even worse, my Macbook!
    Make sense?
    Thanks

  • Cannot install video capture MSI 8851

I have just updated to Windows XP and I have tried to load the video capture driver (latest) but XP tell me that it cannot activate because there is an error. I tried the standard Nvidieo video capture driver and got the same result. Is this a BIOS problem?

It was the BIOS and is now fixed after flashing with Live Update 2

  • FX 5600 + Nvidia 45.23 = video capture screwed

After uninstalling MSI 44.03 and MSI Nvidia Capture Driver (For FX series)2.03, I upgraded my drivers to the Nvidia 45.23 and installed the NVIDIA WDM Driver 1.22 (DL'd from Nvidia).
    (I am running WinXP Pro SP1 - FX 5600 VTDR 128MB)
Now the capture from the composite TV input has turned into crap.
Screen Flickers like crazy and colors are way off - none of which can be fixed.
Once returning to the MSI 44.03 and the MSI Capture Drivers, composite video capture returns to normal.
I also tried fresh installs after using the Driver Cleaner, still with no luck.
I tried even using the 45.23 drivers and the MSI Nvidia capture driver 2.03 together - the result was the same.
So I think the flaw is in the Nvidia 45.23 in whats its doing with the WDM Drivers.
    Anybody else experiencing this??
Gaming performance appears to have improved with the 45.23 however.
    Thanks in Advance,
    rob2771

Tell me about it - Thats why when I decided to go back to the 44.03, I did not use MSI, hehe.  My problems with the MSI version were very minor anyhow, only problem was the overclock screen, which ranges were rather screwed and I got an error, but knew how to repair it(In my case anyhow).

Gruarn, did you try the Nvidia WDM 1.22 drivers?  After you do so, you will have access to the TV composite IN option.  In your software, you will have to select the Nvidia WDM video capture (universal) as the video input device, then select Composite as the source.
The only issue I have with the Nvidia WDM is that after install it asks you to reboot, after reboot has completed, it takes forever for the drivers to install themselves.  this is on my XP Pro though - may be different on other systems.
EDIT: Gruarn - I take it you managed to find TV input?
costinr, (hey BTW - did u try my program yet, lol?)
I have been using Intervideo WinDVR 3, Intervideo WinDVD Creator Pro, VirtualDub 1.5.4.16297, and Adobe Premier 6.5 to capture with.  I tried CyberLink PowerVCR II Deluxe 3.0618 once but had odd problems (there is a winxp patch? hmmm).

  • Does the 6600GT-VTD128 support video capture?

    Hi,
I recently purchased an MSI 6600GT-VTD128 video card.  The product information seems to suggest that the card has video input capabilities, and there is an adapter that plugs into the card that has a number of connections, one of which is labeled S-Video in.  However, I haven't been able to get any video capture to work.
Does the card actually support this functionality?  If not, what are the video input connections for?  If so, is there some documentation as to how to set it up?
So far, I tried installing the video capture drivers that come with the card.  I checked the manual.  I checked the MSI web site FAQs.  And I searched the forums.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Daniel

Thanks Richard.  Yes I do have a breakout cable like that.  Actually, I described it in my original message.  So, I am guessing from your message that you believe that the card should have the capability to capture video.
In my original message, I asked if there was any documentation on setting up the card for video capture.  The manual does not describe the procedure, nor does the MSI web site.
There are drivers on the CD that claim to be for video capture, but they had no effect when I installed them.  In fact, there appears to be no way to tell whether the drivers were actually installed successfully.
If anyone out there has successfully used this card for video capture, please let me know.

  • Video Capture on recent Windows 8.1 Tablets shows very dark video

    Hello,
I switched from direct show to media foundation to capture video from webcams. It is a desktop application and works well with both direct show and media foundation on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 desktop computers for a lot of different webcams.
Trying the same application on a Windows 8.1 Atom based tablet, the video is very dark and green.
I tried it on the following tablets (all of them show the above described behavior):
    -Acer T100A (camera sensor MT9M114, Atom 3740)
-Dell Venue Pro 11 (camera sensor OV2722 front, IMX175 back - Atom 3770)
    -HP Omni 10 5600 (camera sensor OV2722, IMX175 - Atom 3770)
I capture using IMFMediaSession, building a simple topology with a media source and the EVR.
TopoEdit shows the same strange behavior
MFTrace does not show any errors (at least I do not see any errors)
In case an external usb camera is used on all these tablets, the video is fine.
The SDK Sample MFCapture3d3 works fine, it uses the source reader for capturing - I verified the media type of the source used there, it is the same I use in my application (same
stream descriptor, same media type, verified with mftrace)
The "CaptureEngine" video capture sample from the SDK also works as expected, however, I need Windows 7 compatibility and would like to use the same source on both platforms
When using direct show, all the above mentioned tablets show only a fraction of the sensor image when capturing with lower resolutions (e.g. 640x360), the colors of the video are
fine. I tried it with the desktop app of Skype and GraphEdit, same behavior (only a fraction of the video is shown, colors are fine) - Skype for destkop apparently uses a DirectShow source filter.
Has anyone tried capturing the camera of an Atom z3700 series tablet with media foundation using the media session? If so, is special handling of the media source required on these tablets?
If required, I will post some code or mftrace logs.
    Thanks a lot,
    Karl

On the contrary of my previous post, the MFTrace file shows an error:
    "COle32ExportDetours::CoCreateInstance @ Failed to create {FEB9695C-C7DF-4D40-8019-00FA047288FF} KSPlugin Class (C:\Windows\system32\IntelCameraPlugin.dll) hr=0x80004005 E_FAIL"
This dll contains the Intel Camera MFT. While it is on the specified location, it cannot be loaded. According to the Windows Driver Kit documentation, a camera MFT is used in windows store device app.
My assumption is that this MFT is responsible for doing post processing of the video stream from the camera. Since it cannot be loaded, the video stream is dark with a green color fault.
By the way, setting brightness or exposure via IAMVideoProcAmp and IAMCameraControl has no effect, Setting/reading these properties returns S_OK, the properties are stored correctly but obviously ignored.

  • TV Anywhere poor video capture quality

I have a Celeron 1.7, 20 and 60 gig hd at 7200 rpm, 512M of ram. My capture is of very poor quality. I have used the MSI software and also Virtual Dub. Still poor video capture quality. Anyone tell me what I can do or how to do this right?
    geo-ela

If you use a compressing codec in real time, you need lotsa CPU.
Try using a lossless codec such as Huffyuv (you'll need lotsa disk) for the real time capture and then compress afterwards.

  • Hi8 Video Capture

I'm trying to capture Hi8 video in my Macbook Pro 17 (OS 10.5.8). I have connected my Hi8 tape deck
(which does not have time code) to the Macbook Pro via an ADVC100 analog to DV convertor..
When I open the Final Cut Express capture window color bars appear in the preview area with an overlaying
black bar containing the words "Preview Disabled" even with the tape deck running or in pause. Clicking on "NOW"
in the capture window simply brings up a black window rather than showing video coming out of the Hi8 deck as
    seen on another monitor.
If I have the Hi8 deck in Pause and click the "NOW' button followed by unpausing the deck "a split second later" then
video capture does take place. Waiting longer than a split second does not work.Getting this timing just right is very
difficult, and usually takes several attempts. Clicking "NOW' after unpausing the deck also does not work.
Any suggestions about enabling the preview window so that I don't have to use this trial and error approach to capturing
    Hi8 video?

Are you using the DV Convert capture setting in FCE?  And as you've discovered, the tape must be playing when you hit the NOW button - not the other way around.
