Video centre on N95 rocks!

Some of the new features on N95 are really cool.the video centre in applications has links to you tube, reuters etc with crystal clear videos, hope the future DVB-H based TV services have the same clarity

I converted 2 videos :-
1 at 330MB
1 at 541MB
300MB file worked ok and didnt crash Vid Centre.
541MB didn't work.
I tried start Vid Centre and play the movie over and over, and eventually one of the movies that didn't work, did work and Vid Centre did not crash. Moved another movie in there and Vid Centre crashed again, however, I couldn't get it to play no matter how many times I tried to play the movie.
I give up on this, with no reply from Nokia either.
I'm using Smart Movie to play straight from AVI, that has a resume functionality but only on the current video, not a big deal I guess.
Hope this gets fixed in the next firmware, but it seems not many people have this issue which means Nokia may not put too much time and effort into investigating and fixing this bug.Message Edited by hongsit on 11-Dec-200701:37 PM

  • N95 8GB Video Centre Shutting Down

My problem with my N95 8GB, the video centre application automatically closes itself after a few seconds when I open it.
The video centre work fine when it was brand new but as soon as I put my Sim Card in, I started to have problems.
I would really appreciate some help on this issue as it is driving me crazy
    Many thanks,
    s

The workaround is to load a JPG PNG or GIF picture icon (small file 90 KB), named EXACTLY the same as the videos in the My Videos folder where the videos are stored (or where ever the videos from video center are stored)

  • N96 Video centre not opening

    Hi
Everytime I try to open video centre, it starts to open, but then goes straight back to the main menu. Can anyone help?
I have tried closing all other apps, turning off and on etc.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I'd format your memory card and try again.
I had similar problem but with the multimedia key not working and it turned out to be the "settings" on my memory card that were carried over form my N95... I had to do an octopus reset to fix the problem.

  • Getting videos to appear in the Video Centre. What...

I've put a video on my phone in My Videos, then My Videos/Downloads and it's not appearing in the Video Centre. I can open it from the File Manager fine. What directory does the Video Centre look in for files? I mainly ask because in the past when a video's in the Video Centre, the handset seems to grab licences automatically (it's an iPlayer file) but from the File Manager it does not do so.
Thanks in advance, I'm sure I'm being dense.
Help I'm trapped in a sig factory.

I should add, it was copied in mass storage mode. Maybe I used MTP before.

  • Issue with nokia E5 video centre

I haven't ever used video centre before and yesterday I found a problem which is: when I open Menu>Media>Video Centre its opening and after 2 sec it automatically closes going back to Media menu again. Could anyone tell me why it is like that or how to solve it?

    Hi kishor12345,
To further verify, are you using the internet browser when trying to access the Skype? If so, have you tried browsing the other website wherein you need to sign in your account first before you can proceed? In case that you are using mobile data, please use Wi-Fi connection instead. You may also restart your phone by switching the phone off, take the battery out, put it back in after a few seconds and switch your phone on.
Let us know how it will go.

  • Video Wobble on N95

    Hey there folks.
I have a bit of a problem. When I record video on my N95 it's fine if the camera is completely still but on panning shots the picture visibly 'wobbles' no matter how smoothly or steadily I move the camera. It does this both with and without image stabilisation turned on.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so does anyone know what causes it and how to eliminate it?

Have you tried recording at lower quality, does it still do it?,
I see your point, I'm not sure how you can fix it.

  • Nokia Video Cable for n95 vs Cheap Video cable, wh...

Hey, so im interested into understanding why the nokia video cable for n95 costs around 40€ in my country while you can get a very very cheap one for no more than 6€.
What are the advantages of nokia 1 vs a normal 1? does it scale the image to a higher resolution than the phone 240*320? does it offer anything else at all than basic video/stereo audio output?
Im rly curious since i find the price just ridiculous if its the same!
IF anyone has any information ill be gratefull, thank you all in advance!

Nokia video cable comes with, if i am not wrong, 6 months warranty and you can expect quality though not that well in the video but in the cable. A friend of mine bought a video cable for his 5800 from other shop it worked well, make sure you dont buy a very cheap product which maynot be compatible with the phone, better test infront of the shop person if possible.

  • Quicktime : how to encode a video for the N95

    Hi !
    I have a N95 8Go and a Mac...
I use Quicktime Pro to encode videos and I want to make H.264 videos for my N95. Sadly, all videos I've created can't be read by N95's Real Player (audio/video error).
    How can I do ?
    Thank you

I've never used Quicktime PRO but I saw a tutorial once.

  • N96 Video Centre

Has anybody encountered this problem yet: Video Centre stops adding new videos that have been put in the "My Videos" folder? Several videos that I've moved there in the last couple of days don't appear in Video Centre, they visible in the My Videos folder looking from File Manager, but not in the Video Centre app itself.
There seems to be no way to 'refresh' the lists as there is in the Music Player. Does anybody know an easy solution to try before resorting to the 'back up and reformat' rountine? Any dealing with mass memory (especially content copier) seem to take ages so I'd prefer to try other options first if there are any!

You gave me food for thought. It's good to know where the file list is hidden...
Before the problem began, there were the following items in Video Centre:
    (1) All preinstalled content (video ringtones, Transformers, Nokia stuff etc.) in mass memory.
    (2) Some TV programme episodes that I had put in My Videos to show off (MP4s converted from AVIs), again in mass memory, some in the My videos folder and some in a sub-folder of My videos that I created.
    (3) a collection of GP and MP4 stuff on my 4Gb card carried over from my previous phone.
The problem came to light just before I made this thread. I moved some new files (mainly 3GP but one MP4) into My videos, but Video Centre didn't pick them up.
When I changed the database file as you suggested and started Video Centre again, created a new DB file but missed all of the memory card content and the extra stuff recently added.
When I checked, the memory card content was not in the My videos folder but in Video clips, so I moved them and hey presto! Video Centre found them. Perhaps it had been picking up files from all storage instead of just My videos (I have known this happen on the N82), but that the recent update to v11 fixed that?
Further test - the 'new' 3GPs in mass storage were not in My videos during the previous test because I'd moved them around various places when I was previously trying to trace the fault. I moved 7 'new' 3GP files back to My videos in mass storage, but only four of them appeared in Video Centre. To test another theory, I created a folder in My videos called X and put the seven 3GPs into it and the next time I started Video Centre none of these files appeared. Moving them back to My videos and again four appeared. It still finds the videos originally put into a sub-folder of My videos but not those moved to the new sub-folder.
So there is definitely something still going amiss, because the issue doesn't seem to be isolated to either mass memory or memory card, so maybe more experimenting will reveal more, but it's Saturday night and there are more important things...

  • Anyone been able to use Video feeds in Video Centr...

Has anyone been able to use the Video Feeds in Video Centre?,
I can see Reuters and other that are downloaded but the ones that are streamed (youtube, CNN, Jamster, Inside Sony Pictures, etc.) if I use them over WLAN they time out or don't play.
Some play over EGPRS, but the others I get a message 'Not enough bandwidth'
I don't have 3G so I can't test if it's working over 3G. Has anybody been successful in using them over WLAN?

Well, since my original post I've gotten 3G and I can confirm that they work on 3G.
Too bad that some feeds don't get any updates
Sony Pictures in particular has the same content since it launched

  • Nokia 5800xm V50 Video Centre

Hi,I have recently updated to V50 on my Nokia 5800xm and I have a query about video centre. When I open video centre it doesnt find my downloaded BBC Iplayer videos. It finds all my personal and imported films but not the Iplayer downloads.
    Previous to updating no problems.
I can watch them in the realplayer app but this doesn`t remember the last viewed position in the video.
Anything I`m doing wrong or can do o resolve this?
    Thanks.

When I download iPlayer video I go to file manager after download, select the downloaded video, select option-organize-move to folder-select E-select Video- go back back and back so download is showing again, then option-delete reply will be file not found. It should now show in vdeo list !!
    Good Luck

  • Video Playback On N95

    Hi,
I convert video files to MP4 to play on my N95 but when i play them on the phone with sound is a few seconds behind the video. Is it something to do with the speed of my memory card. I just have a standard 2 GB micro sd in a the moment.
    Thanks.

No, it's all about the way it's encoded.
Search for posts by a user called "el_loco" he has posted many useful tips about this issue and video converting.

  • VIDEO PLAYBACK ANOMALY N95

I'm using the N95 with the TV-OUT cables connected to an external monitor. While watching a Video, if an incoming call is answered, the video playback is paused for the duration of the call. When resuming playback of the video after hanging-up the call, the video image appears to be veiled with poor picture contrast and the picture partially renders with the original colours. The sound track remains ok.
Could this be a codec/Video-RAM problem, after a context switch, and how can this be rectified !
Any help would be much appreciated.

    I think the fundamental problem I'm having with the video playback with incoming-call interruption is due to the video format being used;
    MPEG-4 Files
    24 bits, 176 x 144, 15 fps
    Frame-based
    MPEG-4 SP Video: 200 Kbps
    44100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
    MPEG AAC Audio: 128 Kbps
It seems that when using the "Transfer Videos" utility within Nokia PC suite, some form of further Optimisation (.MP4) or Conversion is taking place on the Video file resulting in a file size which is smaller than the original .MP4 file.
This, I believe is exasperating the problem !
Therefore, using the File Manger utility to copy the Video file directly from the PC to the relevant folder on the Memory Card gets around this problem.
The Video now continues to play after the context switch from the In-Coming Call with some initial degradation in picture quality as before but recovers fully within a couple of seconds.
This needs to be investigated further, and many thanks to all who have helped!
