Video changes when moving project over to CC (2014.2)

I have just moved across a project from Premiere Pro CC to Premiere Pro CC (2014.2).
A notice popped up to say that the file had to be converted, after doing so, alot of the footage and sub clips are not actually what i have edited, it is from different times of the video?

thanks i appreciate the advice, however that's where the problem originally lies. After perhaps prematurely clearing to cache database to free up space before i had finished the project, it now get's stuck whilst trying to conform. This time it has got stuck whilst auto saving which i will now turn off, however i am worried i will have to wait a very long time untill all the video conform as this is a big project with a large number of video files.

  • Image size changes when moving an image between Lightroom and CC.

Image size changes when moving an image between Lightroom and CC.
I opened a .dng image in LR and then opened it in the Develop module.  I clicked on Crop Overlay and then on the ‘As Shot’ drop down menu (the lock is closed) and cropped to 11 x 17 and clicked ‘Done’-.
I click Cntl-E and the image opens in CC.  There I click on Image > Image Size and the Image Size  is 13.288 inches by 20.533 inches.
Why does the image size change?
I believe there is a menu to control the size of the image and I've looked everywhere I can think of in LR and CC, I googled various descriptions and I checked two of Scott Kelby's books, but I just can't figure out how to keep the image a consistent size when moving between LR and CC.
    Help!...Please?

The penny will drop soon or maybe the cloud will lift.
In Lightroom all editing is undoable/nondestructive.
Hence a crop of 3x2 is not inches, centimetres, pixels or anything else. It is jst a ratio. When a file is exported, either to PS or disk, then the crop ratio has size determined in respect of pixels and inches or cms.
So my 6000x5000 pixel image I will crop to 3x2 that leaves (before exporting) a 6000x4000 file.
Now when exported it can be set to export at
100pixels per inch and will end up at 60x40" when printed.
200pixels per inch will end up at 30x20"
    300ppi will end at 20x13.3"
You will notice in the Crop Tool there are no size denominations such as inches or centimetres as an image file only has pixels and the determination of size is done through exporting or printing.
    Hope that helps somewhat..

  • Intel Macs & G5s: Problems when moving projects between them

An earlier post* suggesting complete compatibility between the latest FCP in a G5 and in an Intel Mac may be in error.
We are experiencing continuing crashes using our Intel Mac when we work on projects that were originally either imported or partially rendered in the G5.
It has gotten to the point where we feel we must keep projects completely isolated from each other: Either it is a "G5 project" or it is an "Intel Mac" project. Moving projects back and forth between the two leads to problems such as:
The Intel Mac does not recognize any renders done in the G5...
The Intel Mac crashes when rendering 'G5' projects...
The Intel mac crashes when compressor goes to work to export sequences to mpeg...
The G5 works fine with Intel Mac-originated material: It is only in the Intel Mac where we have these problems.
Both systems are up-to-the minute on their OS, security updates, and FCP versions. We are using variously 720p/30 from the JVC GY-100UA and 1080i/30 from the Sony Z1U.
    Our questions are:
Is anyone else experiencing similar problems moving projects between a G5 and an Intel Mac?
Is anyone moving projects between the two platforms and experiencing NO problems at all? That information would be just as valuable, and very welcome.
Apple FCP development team: Is our experience unique or have you had other reports like this? Any idea what could be causing our problems -- and what we can do to fix them?

    Scott,
    Welcome to the discussions!
I have had no problems moving my G5 projects over to my MP.
You can not move render files between machines.
When you changed systems, did you use Migration Assistant to transfer your files over to your new Mac Pro? You might need to install from the disks in order to achieve native Intel performance. See if you installed Final Cut 5.1 on your G5 then it installed the PPC code... if you put that drive into your Mac Pro or used Migration Assistant to move the app over it is still the PPC code... When you install from the installation disk, Installer determines what system you are installing on (PPC or Intel) and that's what it installs. This goes for all of your "Universal Binary" apps...
In the System Profiler app. under Software/Applications
Final Cut Pro "kind" should be Universal on your MP.

  • Modification dates change when moving/copying between hard-drive and flash

I use a flash drive to store most of my work-related documents on. That way, I have them when I'm at school (on a Windows XP computer) and at home on my Mac OS 10.3.9. I
try to occasionally back-up my flash drive by dragging it's contents to my Mac. Copying in this direction USUALLY retains the appropriate modification date.
However, if I move things from the Mac to the USB drive (I occasionally make changes to a file on the Mac when my flashdrive isn't handy), the modification date changes to the copy/move date. Is there a way around this? It alters the information about the file and sometimes makes a version look newer than another version of a document. When in reality, it’s older--it’s just been moved/copied and the date changed.
I often move things back and forth for backup purposes, but if it keeps changing the dates on it’s own, it’s impossible to tell which is REALLY the
    most current copy/version.
Is there a fix so that copying and moving files between volumes does NOT change the modification date of the file?
    Powerbook G4--12 in.--1.33 GHz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Hi, teacher. When my Lexar JumpDrive Secure is formatted as a MS-DOS volume so a PC can read it, the last-mod dates of files that I copy to it are changed to the date and time of copying. When it's formatted as a Mac OS Extended volume, the original last-mod dates are copied to it unchanged. Looks like you can thank Bill Gates for the inconvenience: apparently it's a DOS file system "feature". Don't you wish you could use Windoze all the time?
On second thought, the files really are changed when you write them to a DOS volume, because the DOS file system has no place to store the metadata about your files that a Mac pays attention to and a Windoze box doesn't. So when you write Mac files to a DOS volume, that metadata — which is part of each Mac file — is simply discarded, causing the last-mod date to change.

  • IMovie 11 quits when moving projects to external hard drive

I am trying to move my iMove projects to my external harddrive to save space on my computer (MacBook white unibody 2010/11 running OSX 10.6.8 and iMovie 11 version 9.0.4 (1634). I used the instructions on Apple's iMovie 11 support page (see here http://support.apple.com/kb/ph2289). Every time I try to do this iMovie unexpectedly quits. Actually, the first time I try it says "Copy Failed: The copy could not be filed..." - when I try again the application quits and it gives me this message:
    Process:         iMovie [3663]
    Path:            /Applications/iMovie.app/Contents/MacOS/iMovie
    Identifier:      com.apple.iMovieApp
    Version:         9.0.4 (1634)
    Build Info:      iMovieApp-16340000~2
    Code Type:       X86 (Native)
    Parent Process:  launchd [104]
    etc....
I have a ScreenCast video of exactly what happens when I try here:  http://screencast.com/t/QWN6yWxN
Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Here are the steps to move the library safely to an external hard drive. Okay. Make sure iTunes is open first. Hide it. Find the iTunes folder. Click and drag to external hard drive. Wait till it is copied then go to prefernces in iTunes. Go to the advanced tab and then hit the genral tab. Change the iTunes folder option to the folder within the titled "iTunes" folder to the "Music" folder. Also click the boxes "Keep iTunes folder organized" and "Copy Files to iTunes folder". This worked for me and did not effect the ratings. Let me know if it works. It should. Oooh. One more thing. Back up your library first incase you make a mistake or it doesn't work!

  • Site "changed" when moved to server...

I'll try and make this short.  I attempted to finally move my new site to my remote server/hosting co.  When doing so, instead of the site looking like it did when I repeatedly previewed it while making it, all I get is a jumbled mess with just text, none of my images, and it is not the width that I made it either. Yes, I did move the entire site there, in case someone was wondering.  The person at my hosting co. said it could be a Dreamweaver issue, but I've gone back, checked everything, previewed again, and even tidyed up my folders and moved it back.  But, I'm still getting nothing that looks like my site when I upload the index page to the server. (I've left it up for now; monkpromotions.com, if someone wants to take a look).
I know this is somewhat vague, but as a true novice who has spent months building this site, at this point, this is beyond me, and a bit frustrating.

    Mark,
Thanks for your help, and it was VERY helpful to solving most of my issues.  Except one, and I'll do my best to have this make sense.  I still have some adjustments to make, and I've already done quite a bit.  These changes to CSS and HTML after checking with the links you gave me did wonders; but ONLY concerning IE.  It looks correct in IE 8 with still some issues in IE6, I think.
Then comes Firefox.  I have made many changes, put them back to the server to check it, and throughout this whole process, as IE looked better and better, my index page through Firefox did not change ONE time.  It's almost as if FF is frozen in time.  In fact, from the very first time I loaded my new site on my server, it has looked the same on Firefox, and to make it even stranger, some of the text is not even the correct class that I have them under in Dreamweaver.
I have checked browser compalability and validated my index page over and over again after I made every change, and no problems are showing up.  So, now I'm really stumped!  Again, every link works ( on both browsers), and on IE it looks exacty like I have it set up (thought I'm still tweaking it to make it look better).  I just don't have any idea what to do at this point.  Any ideas as to why it has never changed how it looks on FF?  Could it be something with my computer (I use ff for my browser)?
Again, monkpromotions.com is my site.  Try it on both browsers and see the difference.  Thanks Mark and anyone else.
I wanted to add something else real quick.  I have my site at a fixed width of 915 px with a header, footer, l and r sidebar and main area; and you can see how it's supposed to look on IE 8.0; so you can see on FF it is not contained to that parameter and is spread out, besides being "jumbled" all over the place.  Just an fyi.

  • Problems when moving projects to different workstation.

    hi everyone,

  • Sound changes when moving mp3 from quicktime to itunes

When I move a mp3 from quicktime to itunes the sound changes. itunes makes it sound a little worse from the original mix. I dont think its the equalizer becuase i tried fooling around with that and tuning it off for a better result.
So the mp3 sounds perfect in quicktime but terrible in itunes whats my problem?

I figured out that if i bring it into itunes as mp4 instead of mp3 it sounds alright.
So you are not moving the MP3 from QT to iTunes as you wrote in your first post. You are converting from AAC to MP3.
i tried to burn it and i think it automatically converts it back to mp3 for the burn
    No.
If you have audio CD selected in iTunes prefs -> Advanced - Burning, it will convert them to an audio CD.
It willnot convert any other time unless you tell it to convert.
is there a way to burn it while maintaining the mp4 quality??
Select Audio CD or Data CD and it will burn an audio file or the MP4 file.

  • Property Metadata don't change when deploying project

    Hi,
    1.) I used this help http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/44/2dff5a13363f0ae10000000a114a6b/content.htm
to create my own commands, uicommands, etc.
2.) I also created manually in: System Administration => System Configuration => Knowledge Management => Content Management => Global Services => Property Metadata my own properties to extend the userdetails like described in http://help.sap.com/bp_epv170/EP_US/Documentation/How-to/KM/Extending_User_Details.pdf
    This all works perfectly.
Instead of creating and exporting all my Property Metadata manually I exported them (I have now a XML) and integrated them into my Project => see 1.)
I also found this post: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/message?messageID=3533233
So, when I deploy my project and the properties aren't existing the are created immediately. BUT when I change something in the property metadata XML in my project and I redeploy the project the existing property doesn't change.
I don't want to delete everytime all my properties to make changes active.
With uicommands I don't have this problems. When I change there something I can deploy the project, new uicommands will be added and existing ones will be updated. Unfortunately not by property metadata.
Do you have any ideas why this happens?
    Regards,
    Stefan

    Hello Stefan,
you might have a versioning problem when merging the new KM configuration from your project with the existing configuration in KM. That would explain why everything works fine if you delete the existing settings first but it won't if you try to overwrite the existing settings!
KM merges the configuration when you deploy a PAR file with configuration. You need to tell the system that the settings in the PAR file should replace the existing settings. This can be done by including the file export_cm_mapping.xml into your project. (At least that is the name of the file in NW04). You can get this file by exporting some configuration from your KM system with the KM export functionality and unzip the resulting configarchive file. It should contain the correct export_cm_mapping.xml file. Just take this file and put it into the src.config directory in the same path. (For NW04 that is: src.config/install/data/system/command/export_cm_mapping.xml.)
    Hope this helps,
    Martin

  • Close FPGA VI Reference breaks when moving project...

I created a cRIO project with an FPGA target, and assigned the output of Open FPGA Reference to an indicator.
When I moved the project to a different computer, the wire to the indicator broke, so I selected "Bind to Typedef..." on the Open FPGA Reference node, replaced the indicator, reconnected all the local variables from old indicator to the new one, and deleted the old one. So far so good.
But now, when I move the project to a different computer, the wire to the Close FPGA VI Reference breaks.
If I delete and replace the broken wire whenever I open the project on the new computer, everything's fine. Am I stuck with that? It could be worse, I guess, but I'd like to fix this for real. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ron,
I do not believe that there are any other workarounds for this behavior.  I've been attempting to fix this myself in another way, but it seems that due to the simplistic nature of the close reference vi, it is not possible to go about this in another way when distributing applications.  I will try to see if we can make a product suggestion for this in the future releases of the software.

  • Video Skips When Moving Around

If i get up and move with my laptop the Video (normal .avi House episode) skips, almost like a CD in a car when you hit a bump. It's mostly when i put the laptop down on a chair/desk/lap. Just wondering what this is all about?
Another, different problem. When watching any video in QT it's choppy all time. Unwatchable choppy. I have to watch in VLC (not a big deal, but a little annoying)
Anyone have any QT upgrades I should download to make this not happen?

Not sure I understand what you are describing, but you may be engaging the Exposé feature. In ANY app, if you use Exposé, the system will expose all of your currently opened windows by making them smaller, so that could be what you mean by "move back." You then click on the window you want to use; it's meant to be an easy way to find and switch between windows, if you have a lot of windows open at the same time.
You may be activating it by squeezing your mouse, if you use a Mighty Mouse. Go into System Preferences Mouse pane. You should see the mouse diagram with lines going to both sides of the mouse. That is "squeeze" setting. If it is set to +Exposé - All Windows+, change it to OFF.
Note: You can also engage Exposé using the F9 key, or the special key with the little rectangles (depending on how your keyboard's F-keys are set).

  • Color changes when moving mouse pointer

    Hi,
I have an issue that, when I move the mouse pointer over the controls of the video (when playing quicktime movies in full screen) that it goes darker and looks a lot better!
But as soon as I move the cursor away from the controls, the image becomes brighter, loses contrast and on the side is a green oder pink stripe.
Funny is, it does that in quicklook too, but not only in full screen!
the weirdest thing ever is... it did that on my old windows machine too!!!!!
I thought when I buy a mac it will go away... but apparently not... very disappointing!
I have googled the whole internet, but apparently I am the only one with this issue... or maybe not?
    Can anyone provide any help??

Okay guys, after waiting for two years, QuickTime X fixed this!

  • Audio clips change when moved from sequence to sequence in FCP7

Working on a documentary piece within FCP7 and am having problems with moving audio from one sequence to another. Both sequences have the same settings, but when I copy the audio clip and paste it into the new sequence, the audio that pastes is from the same clip but is not what I copied. Does anyone know why this is happening and/or how to fix this?

Just to back up Michael. The native sample rate for video is 48khz. To work at anything other than that is to ask for problems.

  • Unwanted image size change when moving a image it's Tab to another Tab in CC 2014

Hi, I opened a photo with a physical size 16"w 36"h. Since role paper comes in 24" width, I proceeded with expanding the canvas size to 24"w, height is unchanged at 36". Then I opened two photos in separate tabs in Photoshop, changed the image sizes to 8"w x 12"h. One Photo is from a 36megapixel camera and the other from a 16megapixel camera. Created two layers in the 24x36 image tab. Then I proceeded to copy each photo and paste in each of those layers (one image per layer in case you’re wondering). The problem is as follows, the copied images are larger when pasted into those layers, 10” wide and not 8”, 14”high and not 12”. Thinking maybe the canvas size had something to do with this, so I made that change. The result was the same, larger when pasted into those layers, 10” wide and not 8”, 14”high and not 12”. Could someone please advise what I’ve done wrong? Note, the ruler bars are visible. Thanks

When you bring one image into another, it is the pixel size that counts.  The physical size of the source image becomes irrelevant.

  • Why does the content of my video change when I render it?

i Have been trying to export a video, in my time line it looks great and the rendered version also looks fine except that one of the clips is different. I don't understand the problem. What is even more baffling is that I rendered it and it was not the same in QuickTime playback but then imported the file back into a new project and it looked right again?  all of the clips in the video are from the same source so I'm pretty sure it is not a file issue....
