Video chat through FMS:Browser Issue

Hi.
I am trying to make video two way chat application through FMS streaming in AS3.0.
Its working fine with Mozilla but not working in Internet Explorer.
What may be the problem ??
Any clue.
Thanks.

Hi.
My two way video chat streaming in AS3.0 is working fine on Mozilla browser.
I can broadcast myself to other and see other person on my side if he allows.
Problem is that with Internet Explorer Browser.
When user uses the Internet Explorer Browser then even he broadcast himself (allows streaming by FMS) dialog box appears:(ask for user prompt:he allows mike and camera access)  but no streaming occurs.
Nothing happens.
Any Clues.
Hope I have explained whats going on to my extent.

  • Ichat AV 4.0 Video chat through gtalk account with PC user

    Hi
I use ichat AV with my gtalk account with Yahoo transport to chat with my gtalk and yahoo buddies using a mac.
I was wondering If could video chat through my gtalk account with someone using a PC.

    Essentially No.
GoogleTalk have added AIM protocols and SIP recently but the PC users has to sign up for it.
It unclear whether this will allow Video to non GoogleTalk clients.

  • HD video Delivery through FMS

Can we broadcast our video in HD Quality through FMS? if possible what we have to do for that, whats the minimum bandwidth needed to deliver the HD quality video?

Yes FMS does support HD Streaming.Install this app : http://www.videoRx.com/apps/air/BitrateStarterRx.air - it would help you in your bitrate/bandwidth calculations.

  • Making P2P Video Chat with FMS

Hi, I'm trying to make a P2P video chat application with Flash Builder 4.5 and Flash Media Server 4.5.
First, I've tried a simple sample application using Cirrus(Stratus). It worked very well!
NetConnection -> NetGroup -> 2 NetStreams -> netstream play and publish -> last, netgroup post
    The sample was all OK.
But now, I've changed the server url to my flash media development server.
    rtmfp://p2p.rtmfp.net/XXXXXXXXXXXXXX -> rtmfp://my-fms/application
Here is my application trace log about NetStatusEvent:
    [object NetConnection] NetConnection.Connect.Success
    [object NetConnection] NetGroup.Connect.Success
    [object NetStream] NetStream.Play.Reset
    [object NetStream] NetStream.Play.Start
    [object NetStream] NetStream.Publish.Start
    [object NetConnection] NetStream.Connect.Success
    [object NetConnection] NetStream.Connect.Success
I couldn't get events about NetGroup and NetStream any more!!!!
When using Stratus, It worked well...
I am not familiar with FMS.. did I skip something in FMS setting?

    Hi,
    Thanks for trying RTMFP.
When you made your own application on the development server, did you make any server side scripting on this application or is this a blank application ? The point here is that, for P2P, the Cirrus server has a server script that takes care of bootstrapping one client to the other, which in your case (after moving to your server) is not happening. You need to probably add the scripting for bootstrapping one client to the other.
The following resources can help :

I think I have a similar problem. I am using FMS 4.0 and I can't receive any NetGroup event except NetGroup.Connect.Success. There is no events as NetGroup.Neighbor.Connect or NetGroup.Posting.Notify. I made a discussion (http://forums.adobe.com/message/4429330#4429330) and one of the Adobe employees wrote that I don't need to write any bootstrapping (any server side code):
    Chandan_Abhishek worte:
You don't have to implement any server side code. Just keep a blank app on the server and make two client side apps.
Can please someone explain, do I have to write any server side code or not? Do I have to bootstrap clients or not?

  • Ports for video chat through a Netgear router

I was told by an apple tech guy that i needed to open ports on my netgear router in order to get my video chat to work on ichat. when i plug straight into the hardwire it works fine but then no one else in my house can use the internet. so which ports do i need to open and how do i do that? thanks.

    Hi,
Most modern Netgears are set to do UPnP by default. (it means the apps open the ports they need) (it also means this Apple tech does not know his routers)
What a Netgear often needs is the DOS or SPI filter turned off.
This is in the WAN page of the set up pages.
It needs to be Checked to Disable.
Also on this Page is the WAN/Anonymous ping blocking which needs to be Unchecked to disable.
This is not needed if this is a router and a modem is in front of it.
It does seem to help if it is a Netgear Modem.
So it does not need Port Forwarding.
It should be doing UPnP already which "opens" the ports when the App asks.

  • 1 to 1 video chat through FMS4

I am developing an application and my requirement is make a conference through a meetingID and  this meetingID  will come from .NET end. this is working fine with FMS 3.5.3 " rtmp " and now I am coverting this application into FMS4 " rtmfp ".
I don't have any idea about FMS4, so please will  more benificial for me.
    Thanks
    sushil

Choosing to go with FMS4 and RTMFP will allow you to make a peer to peer connection. This most likely will be faster to have a chat with somebody than having a stream go all the way to the server to then go all the way to a client, rather than a direct route. You'll have to study up on coding for peer to peer, it will change your logic of you app and will need to be tested for connectivity as a lot of networks will not let peer to peer through.

  • IChat AV can't video chat through school's proxy

I'm studying abroad in Ireland and we connect to their network through VPN. I'm using iChat AV 3.1.9 on OS 10.4.11. I changed all the proxy stuff and switched to port 443 and can use iChat for text, but video and audio fail to connect. The IT people here are useless and I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions? I can't get Skype to connect either, so if anyone knows how to fix that it would also be fabulous.

After years of owning all things Mac, I am finally trying to use iChat, and can't get it to work. I am using gmail, and I see my buddy (no camera icon next to her name), but all I can do is send a message--the video and audio chat icons are gray, as is inviting to a video chat under Buddies. My buddy has the same problem as I.  We are able to do video chat through gmail, but I had hoped to use iChat.  I am using OS 10.6.8, iChat v. 5.0.3.  What am I missing?

    HI,
iChat will Video chat to another iChat in a Jabber Buddy List (Google run a Jabber server for GoogleTalk)
However it will not Video to the Web Page login to iGoogle or the Web Mail Page login.  (where people can Google Chat as it were in a  Web Browser).
Nor does it video to the Google Talk Stand alone app for PCs or any other Jabber apps on any platform.
iChat uses a connection Process called SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) which is also used by other VoIP devices.
Jabber/XMPP invited the Jingle Protocol for Jabber Applications.
Google have included this in their Standalone app and the Plug-in for Web Browsers on both PCs and Mac (you can get this as a Standalone Plug-in or as part of Chrome)
More on this here  This article has been changed several time in the recent months.  It now claims a greater involvement by Google in writing the Jingle Library (Although now Google's version does not work with the others)
This tends to mean that using the web Login to Google to Chat also cannot video chat to other Jabber apps that are using Jingle.
If your Buddy is using iChat then check the Video Menu has two items to Enable Camera/Video chat and Microphone/Audio chats are ticked.
In the View Menu the Show Status Items should be ticked (Selecting them toggles the tick and the function On or Off)
It could be Internet speed but at this stage I would doubt this at this stage.

  • ITunes too quiet after Google Video Chat

I recently had a video chat through Gmail, and while connecting, my ITunes volume was automatically turned down to about half of what it originially was. After the video chat was done, however, iTunes failed to regain the volume. Ever since then, my volume was been twice as quiet as before and I'm not sure how to fix it. I've closed all my browsers, played around with iTunes sound check, and restarted my computer. I have the latest version of iTunes (10.4.0.80). Any help would be grealty appreciated. Thanks!

Same thing for me since upgrading to Mavericks - I used to be able to make phone calls through my Gmail account on Safari but since upgrading to Mavericks the plugin is installed but not recognized. It works fine when I run Firefox. Annoying. I may eventually stop using Safari as my primary browser.

  • Airport Extreme working with video chat

Has anyone else had any problems doing iChat's video chat through an Airport Extreme? I used to be able to video chat fine through my wired LAN, but when I set up the Airport Extreme connected to the wired LAN, it will allow me to connect through a video chat but it only shows my camera view, no sound or picture from my buddy, and iChat thinks it's doing a video chat just fine. Anyone else had this problem? Are there ports I need to fix?

I take it you are connecting to the internet via a router of some kind. You have then attached the Airport to the router to gain wireless internet access. If this is the case you need to make sure you have the Airport Extreme configured as a bridge otherwise you have a situation known as double NAT. NAT is a method used to share a single connection with multiple computers and works as a rudimentary firewall. iChat AV has a hard enough time dealing with a single NAT but if you have NAT on your AIrport and your router it is going to fail.

  • IChat WON'T WORK using audio or video chatting [PLEASE HELP]

Bought a Mac a couple months ago and I'm pretty (yeah, that's VERY) happy about it. The thing is when it comes down to my iChat, I wanted so much to have video conference with my family in Brazil while I'm studying in Spain -- but I Just can't! =(
Let's put it that way: iChat won't recognize my (Googlechat) friends and their webcams; and as long as I'm connected, I have never seen any sort of "audio label" beside their names.
So can any Mac-pro please help me out explaining what the matter is?
Can't I talk to my friends just because the're using PCs -- or there's nothing to do with it?
I've tried everything, from Preferences to Praying; and it won't work. Just wanna let you guys know that all the people that I'm trying to talk to have webcams and microphones plugged-in.
PS - Plus, I got this huge agenda full of contacts (around 2,000) that appear to be on my iChat list, but they're somehow never online. Is that because I have to send them an invitation to join my Googlechat? =/
    I'm totally lost here.
I'd appreciate if you people could answer me quick - as you always do here =). Tomorrow I'll have this unique chance to talk to my grandmother (for she's living in some sort of farm far away from civilized world) and I'd REALLY want to chat via Video Conference with my family tomorrow night.
Sorry for my bad english and thanks in advance.

    Hi,
You can Add an Google Mail ID (@gmail.com or @googlemail.com) as your ID/screen Name in iChat.
From iChat to iChat this will also do Video or Audio Chats as well as Text chats.
From iChat to anyone using the Google Web Mail page you can text chat as the Video and Audio codecs are different.
The same is true of the PC app for GoogleTalk.
To be able to login in to Google Talk using iChat your have to Enter you ID as it is written on any Google Page when you are logged in (Ends with either @gmail.com or @google.com), Mail seems to cope with either but iChat needs it to match.
You also have to Enable the Talk option on your Google Account info.
To See the Green Video and audio icons go to the View Menu of ichat and Select Show Audio and Show Video.
If you are trying to Chat with a PC I would use one of these
Alternatives to iChat but Video chatting In a Web Browser
MeBeam. An option to use a Web site that create Private room for Video Chatting. Uses Flash to access your Camera and Mic.
iVideoChat Similar setup but a somewhat corporate type look to the site. Has Public rooms as well. Again uses Flash.
Googlemail/GoogeTalk now do a Version in a Web Browser
Tokbox A Site that can link your existing Buddy Lists that Uses Flash to Video chat in a Browser.
    From http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/page5.html#_other
Tokbox allows you to link to existing Buddy Lists.

  • Skype video chat keeps knocking out internet conne...

I am using the BT Broadband Home Hub 2.0 and my BT Broadband WiFi connection is usually consistent from the time I switch my computer on to the time I switch it off.
Only when I do a video chat through Skype does my internet connection usually drop out.
I have just done a speed test through BT.com and it's results are as follows:
    Connection speed: 12.3Mb
    Download speed: 10.7Mb
    Upload speed: 0.81Mb.
According to BT, these are all good, so why does my connection drop out when video chatting through Skype?
Do I need a better broadband router (staying with BT Broadband)?
Do I need faster broadband by getting BT Infinity instead?
Or are there some configurations/settings I can change with BT Broadband and/or Skype to ensure dropouts like this won't happen.
Hope somebody can advise me on this.
    Thanks.

If you are using the normal default connection settings for Skype, then it will try to route incoming calls via your connection, which can result in dropped connections.
Look at the advanced connection settings on Skype, and untick the options to use incoming connections and uPnP. Basically untick all boxes, then shut down Skype, and restart it. See if it helps.
Its not going to work very well over WifI anyway.
There is also a software bug in the earlier home hubs, which can result in the IDS (Intruder Detection System) log overflowing, resulting in loss of DNS connectivity. The IDS tends to be very active when incoming connection attempts are made.
There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.
