Video Clarity???

I created a test DVD using raw data that was very clear when played back on computer or TV. When I created a test project in iMovie 08 and then transfered to DVD, the quality deteriorated terribly. I'm using a Sony digital handycam (Hi 8). Everything works as it should but the quality is really poor. Help?

The problem is that iM08 can't de-interlace. Apple wanted everything in iMovie working live without rendering and probably therefore had to make it working that way. Basically from your video every second line is thrown out. Only possible workaround is to convert your source video to different format. Just de-interlacing is not enough, iMovie doesn't see the difference and even eprogressive DV is treated as it was interlaced.

That can be a problem with a plugin, possibly Java.

  • Photos & Videos clarity reduced after installing iOS 5.1 to iPad2?

Has anyone noticed that after installing iOS 5.1 and updating your iPad2 with it the clarity in your photos and videos has gone bad?
Is it due to that iOS 5.1 is primarily optimized for the new iPad's Retina display which is probably creating mess for display clarity of iPad2?
I haven't seen the new iPad display yet so no chance of comparing the two and then feeling this way. Pls suggest if there is anything which a user need to do to get this fixed or if Apple would like to look into this and fix it by rolling out quick new iOS update.
    Thank you!

No such problem with my iPad 2 running 5.1.

  • I chat AV video clarity

How do you make the picture you are receiving clear? Whenever my sister and I connect the video I see of her is blurry, is there a way to manuel focus the picture? It seems to get a little clearer when there is more light in the room on her side but still it is blurry. Can anyone help??????

I don't think the focusing is the problem. If you're using one of the original, external iSights then they are auto-focus. I think the built-in ones are fixed focus but should be sharp as long as you're not too close to your computer.
I think you're on to something with the lighting. Apple has a support document describing the best lighting.
And in my experience bandwidth makes a big difference. The faster the internet connection the better picture you'll both get.

  • 2 Way Video Clarity with 1 Way Audio Distortion

I consistently experience the following issue:
During a 2 way ichat using isights, we both experience clear video, the other individual has clear audio from me, but I can only received distorted, unintelligible audio. I have tested this with multiple Mac users and the 'appleu3test01'.
-Connection Doctor displays 100% for video and audio.
-I have set up my fire wall ports according to settings found in this forum. (I've turned the fire wall off to test as well...)
-I have re-configured my Internet wiring multiple ways, including a direct wire from modem to machine. Currently I run Cable/Modem/AirPortExtreme/VonageRouter
-Yes, I have search and read through these forums and other support areas on the web for trouble shooting tips.
Alas, I am at a loss. I have found serveral posts concerning this same topic, but to my knowledge no one has yet to find a solution. And I was hoping the latest software updates would do the job. Nope. Until I tested with appleu3test01 I was beginning to think it was a problem on the other end because they could receive my audio and video. Now I believe something is blocking their audio on my end. But what?
You help is appreciated. Please assume:
    1) I have run through the various 'checklists', FAQ's, and topics that I could find in this forum. But I admit, I'm only willing to try so many searches.
    2) I am an experience/knowledgable comp/network/internet user. Feel free to try and stump me.
    Sincerly,
    David

I'm so happy. I don't know anything about Bob and uncles, Ralph, (although, ironically, I do have two uncle Bobs) but you're a Rockstar in my book - as we say over here.
Problem: Audio clipping distortion as a result of too much internal gain.
Solution: Use Internal Audio Output as my iChat audio output Setting
I have been using an M-Audio Firewire Solo (MFS) as my primary Audio Device. The setup was like this:
    computer source/m-audio/speakers
I have the latest driver for MFS (http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=support.drivers), but they have yet to release a driver for 10.4.3
The MFS device always links internally with my master (computer) volume settings. So whether I attempt to change the audio output through the M-Audio Firewire Driver Application or the Audio MIDI Setup (Application/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup) the output volume is always linked - meaning you change one you change them all. I do have two external 'gain' control knobs on my MFS and Speakers, but changing those settings does not aleviate the audio clipping distortion. The result is always audio clipping within iChat.
I can leave both audio systems connected and simply change my output audio settings to Internal Audio or Firewire Solo.
Last Side Note: I believe many other issues were solved along the way, but this was the final issue interfering with iChat. Other things that helped:
    1) For a wireless network, placing my Vonage VOIP router post the AirPort Base Station.
    2) Updating to 10.4.3 and the most recent Airport update (including updates for my computer and firmware for the Airport Extreme).
    3) Updating my iSight to 1.0.3 and making sure I have a good firewire cable connecting my iSight to my computer.
Hope this helps. It feels great to have the mystery finally solved.

  • Exporting video options

I recently shot a video on my i phone four....the quality appeared awesome on the phone itself....when I went to upload it to my mobile me account it ask me what size I wanted to use and I think I selected the middle as I was uploading via 3g and I figured still decent quality but maybe faster upload. When I viewed the video on my home computer in my mobil me account the video clarity sucked. I am thinking that it is because of the mobil upload. Can somebody tell me what size to always pic and should it be standard to always wait and sync the phone and dump the video on my home machine to get the best clarity. I know if your going to view it on web do you really need high resolution...etc...etc.....

Yes, I'm afraid that the behaviour with the "More Options" button is normal.
If you want to remove output settings you created, browse to the output-folder and just delete the ones you need. In my case (MacOSX.7.5) it is located here:

  • Need help with 24fps in Premiere Pro CS4

I am having issues  working with 24fps imported video. My computer hardware is an AMD dual core processor running at 2.6GHz. It has 2GB of Kingston Hyper-X memory, 2x 300GB hard drives (not RAID), and an Nvidia 7900GS video card with 256MB video ram. My operating system is Windows Vista Ultimate with SP1. I am running Premiere Pro CS4 with all the current updates.
So here is the issue I am having. I captured video on a Canon XL2 in 24fps, 16:9 widescreen, and 2:3:3:2 pulldown. My CS4 project settings were set up as DV-24P Widescreen 48KHz. I did not try changing other settings on the other tabs. I captured the video directly from the XL2 with no dropped frames. The resulting AVI plays back in Windows Media Player 11 correctly. What I mean by that is the is no jerky video, I get no raster lines, and the video quality is very clear. When I load the video into the time line and play it back in the program monitor the video jerks like it is dropping frames, I get raster lines and it looks like video clarity fades in and out.
At first I thought nothing about it. I used Adobe Media Encoder, and burned a DVD. Playback on my widescreen TV looked jerky, rastered, and the video was only clear in static scenes. So I made some test projects with different settings. Still had no success. The original capture looks good, but whatever I do in Premiere the video jerks and looks like old VHS video.
I did another test. I set the XL2 to 30P and 4:3, and captured the video. Again the captured AVI looks good. Put it on the Premiere timeline and played it in the program monitor. It plays fine - good video quality, no rastering, and no jerking. Made a DVD with no problems in the video. So my question is what setting in Premiere do I need to capture, edit, and export 24fps 16:9 widescreen video so that it plays back with with the same video quality as it was captured? Do you think it is an encoder problem? The captured AVI is what ever encoder came with Windows/Premiere as I have not added any other encoders.
Any help would be apperciated. If I have not supplied enough information, please just ask.

If the video is playing back badly in Premiere Pro from the timeline, then the things I would check would be the program monitor quality - is it set to highest...if you don't know where that it is, click on the 4 horizontal lines in the top corner of the program monitor - make sure highest quality is selected. It also may be a video card issue - are your drivers up to date? If the clips are only playing back badly on the PPro timeline (and anything exported from it), but fine in Windows Media Player - something is up.
As for the frame rate - no, you don't have to work at 24P...as mentioned before, the camera actually records at 29.97 fps, but is able to be played back and edited at 23.976 fps (or 24P)...it's a complicated explanation on how it all works...
If you're going to finish to a regular DVD, then working at 29.97 is the way to go. As for the interpret footage command, highlight the clips in your bin, then right click on them - in the menu, you'll see interpret footage - click on that and a new window should open...you should see a box with a check next to it that says remove 24P pulldown - click it (removing the check) and the footage frame rate should change to 29.97 - then click OK...create a 29.97 sequence (DV NTSC Widescreen 48Khz), and edit away.

  • I have a bug with camera & Walkman with Sony Xperia C3

When I'm shooting video every 2-3 seconds, the phone will refocus the image. During refocusing is getting totally blured. I tried different settings, but it didn't help. I've never seen so awful camera in the phone. I tested another phone Xperia C3 phone of my friend who had purchased the yesterday only, when i checked the video clarity, it had the same problem in a brand new phone also. I think sony has manufactured a worst Rear Camera for Xperia C3, not only i have the camera problem but My Walkman has a problem in it, I have updated the Walkman and after the every update every time i am listening to music the walkman would pause randomly or there would be no sound for atleast 5 to 7 second while a song is playing these would repeat twice in one track. I have gone through all the discussions from the sony forum i have tried all the possible things to fix it, but there is no use finally i came to know that its just a waste of time & Effort i'm making in it, I have the SD Card of San Disk of 16 GB with Class 10,  When these problem's are gone be fixed by Sony. Please make sure to release an a update which might fix these issues.

  • Create a slideshow in Encore

Well, I'm a beginner in CS4 premium. I believed that I can use Encore for slideshows but the audio management is poor. I read the forum Q&A it seems that Encore is provided for creating only "simple" slideshows. If I want several audio tracks with 200 images what can I do? Use Premiere or an other software?
    Best regards

As Jbowden points out, the biggest limitation, when creating your SlideShow in PrPro, is the navigation. If you only want to play the SlideShow, then PrPro is definitely the way to go. You have so much more control, especially with regards to animation and Audio work. Export as a DV-AVI (elemental stream) and either a PCM/WAV, or AC3 (elemental stream), and you then easily author in Encore. You loose the "manual advance," but then the user can hit the Pause button on the remote (video clarity might suffer a bit, depending on the set-top player). I'll give up that bit of navigation for the power of PrPro any day - so long as my client will allow it.
I agree with what you have read - Encore can do "simple" SlideShows. For everything else, there's PrPro (or maybe ProShow Producer).
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Choose the "canon eos 6D" to make movies, in my opnion a great success.

Hi all, with this video, you are going to see the potential of the new Canon EOS 6D.
Important: The images have not been manipulated in post-production, so this is the natural quality of the images from the Canon EOS 6D.
    Best regards.

What a video clarity canon has it.

  • Exporting a Keynote project.

    Hello,
I have a problem.  Is it possible to achieve the same video clarity as in a keynote presentation if I export one?  I would like to export as the file to the greatest degree of detail.  I have done this using the H.264 codec however the color gradients look very blocky.  Should I use a different codec and bump the FPS up and if so which ones?  Thank you
    BTW Keynote 09

I have found the x264encoder as suggested to help partially. Contrary to the instructions on the byteful blog, try unchecking the "Add gamma 2.2" checkbox and adding the "-- 2-2-2 Anything else" color space tag that's right above it.
It's not perfect, but it's much better than the Quicktime default.
Please file a bug report for this: https://developer.apple.com/bugreporter/
I have already done so, but only bugs that squeak the loudest get fixed, especially in maintenance releases of OS X.
