Video clip did not export in the Slide show
I recently created a photo slideshow in Aperture for my grandmother's funeral. I exported it as a movie to play through apple tv but when it played the slideshow, the video clip was not there. When I preview the slideshow in Aperture, its there and it works. But it did not work as an exported movie. any suggestions?
My friend gave me his presentation into which he wants me to embed video clips of him talking on each page. The video clips will be made in Photo Booth when he comes to my house. I have made a practice video clip of myself with Photo Booth and see how there might be problems, and if so, what can I do?
The pages were initially text and graphs made in Excel and then placed into his PC Powerpoint program. Then I put that Powerpoint presentation into my Keynote program and thought that all was going well with my transitional devices and first and second page created in Keypoint.
Alas, the problem now is that I can get the original page to show up, and I can get the little video clip to show up, but I don't know how to make the window stay open until the video clip ends (when he finishes speaking to the page).
Do you have any thoughts about what I can do? Should I record him on the iMac's video cam rather than Photo Booth? If so, that's going to be new for me, since I have had this new iMac for only two weeks now.

Play back video clip is not working in the event browser...
Hello,
I have a problem in the event browser only. If I place the skimmer in any clip and press the space bar, nothing happen. If I press the "play" arrow" it does not work neither nor through the presentation menu.
The space bar shortcut to play works perfectly fine in the timeline, but not in the event browser.
In order to preview a clip at normal speed (100%), I have to drag it in the timeline and play it wich is rather anoying.
Any idea on how to correct this issue would be very much welcome.
Thank you very much for your help.I was having this exact same problem. I tried deleting the preferences, however that didn't work. But, yes, when I switched the view from 'show viewers on second display', back to 'show on main display'... the spacebar worked again... then I switched back to showing the viewers on my second display, the original circumstance (which is definitely my preference)... and so far it is working again.. doesn't seem like anything has been 'fixed', but hopefully this doesn't happen often.
So thanks to this thread, as I had no idea what to do, and it was getting very annoying. -
Limited ken burns effect and exporting out the slide show
im trying to create podcasts of photos ( perhaps 50 )
with OPTIMAL ken burns effects panning and zooming
with my own musical scores using garageband. Using transitions and Voice overs and eventually uploading to a web account with iweb.
Is it better to create this all in imovie?
Iphoto is too limited with its very limited KenBurns effect.
I also dont see the individual time setting option for each image. where is that in iphoto. It seems that every photo has to be the same duration.
some have recommended iphoto then garageband
but i see too many limitations with iphoto.
anyone have similar experiences?Yes you can do this with vertical photos.
Click on the little icon at the top left of the photo thumbnail in your project. This will bring up the photo editing panel.
If you want the vertical photo to show up full screen, click crop, and pick which portion of the vertical photo you want to show.
If you want to see the entire vertical photo, click "Fit" and the entire photo will be shown, but there will be black space on either side.
Now click on "Ken Burns" to add the motion effect.
When finished click "Done". -

as the I-Photo is not supported by Video Clips ( Previous Leopard )
No problem clip and drag via Quick Time Pro to the email and select the Attchment size to send. . Depending on the
Size of the Video Clip .. Now Lion only Export's 1 size, . only and as a result . . teh File is TOO Large and
Will NOT send via E-Mail ???

as my Photo Size is Huge .. 70,000 + photos in the Computer. . and was 40,000 in the I - Touch .. .

I have completed the slide show i am making, but not sure what to do now. I want to burn it to a dvd, but not sure if i can do that from iphoto or do i need to export to imovie or idvd? If i need to export, will iphoto save a copy in iphoto? This may be really stupid, but I don't see an obvious way to save my slide show in iphoto. Please Help!
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar. Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com. Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides themes from iDVD 5-7. The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:

You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

Entire frame of mini-dv video clips do NOT show in the iMovie '11 viewer in playback mode
I am editing a wedding video in iMovie11 that was recorded on a mini dv tape. When I move video clips from the event library to the timeline, the entire frame is displayed in the timeline. However, the entire frame of the video clip does NOT show in the iMovie viewer or when I playback the video. I exported the video and burned it to a dvd using Toast 11 pro. The video recorded to the dvd as it was showing in the iMovie viewer... the full frame does not show. I would certainly appreciate any advice as to how to solve my problem. THANK YOU!!!
Is your video shot in 16:9 aspect ratio or 4:3?
You can go to File/Project Properties and set the aspect ratio for the project.
When you get a clip that does not match the project's aspect ratio, you use the Rotate, Crop, Ken Burns tool on the middle toolbar to specify how it should be treated.
FIT will place the entire clip in the movie, and will letterbox (black bars) so that it fits.
CROP will fill the screen, but will cut off the top and bottom of your frame. -

If you had never saved the file at any time, you have lost your work.
Go to; Apple Menu > Force Quit
Start a new presentation, and from now on, after adding the first object to the slide, save the file. -

Yesterday, I went and bought a refurbished 3rd-generation iPod touch, with a warranty for needed repairs in the future. When I went home after buying it, I plugged it into my computer to start charging. I plugged it in, and the battery in the iPod exploded, and now it won't power on period, even when it is plugged in or docked. I bought a warranty to go with the iPod because I figured that I was probably going to drop it, and then need it repaired. But Apple cannot even find the purchase record on file from where I bought the AppleCare warranty on it, so now I am stuck with what is now basically a paperweight. What should I do?

Show only those key words in the slide show that are marked for export

I just learned that I can hide some keywords for export. I find it useful to look at the keywords at the bottom of the hierarchy in the slideshow. I found a way to display all keywords in a text field in the slide show, but I did not find a way to show exactly those keywords that would be exported when the pictures were exported.
Is there a way to achive this?
Thank you ver much!It will only show explicit keywords (i.e. the keyword that you actually assigned to the image), so I'm not sure how you managed to get it to show all keywords (i.e. explicit and implied) that can be exported.

In above example PLACES is set to not export. Yellowstone is the assigned or explicit keyword and USA+Wyoming are implied. The explicit and implied keywords will export. Mammoth Hot Springs will not be assigned to the image and therefore cannot exported. -
I plugged my iphone in for the first time to my computer. I synced it with my itunes and it deleted everything. Now I don't know what to do because I did not even have the chance to back it up! everything is gone please please help me!
When you saw this dialog box, did you choose "Erase and Sync"?
If you did, your iPhone was erased, then your iTunes Library was transferred to it. If your iTunes Library was empty, your iPhone will be also.
Your previously purchased music, apps, books, and videos are still yours. You just have to download them again.

When I play video clips from websites like Prescreen the sound is loud enough to hear w/out headphones. When I play my own professionally mastered video I have to wear head phones to hear them loud enough. Is there a trick in Compressor or other software to make my overall sound loud enough?

Not even close to good enough, LCD screen will crack, water will go in through the jack/charger ports..
The phone i describe has no external ports just 4-5 little pins which can't let water in or out of the device, the docking station will connect via these 4 - 5 pins for data transfer and recharging...., IPX8 standard, all the electronics are epxoyed with a glue to stop real bad shocks from drops and bangs, along with a silicon case and all the other preventative meausres means this little phone is going to outlive you.
in combination with heart rate external bluetooth connection, really what more could you want... only the Sonim comes close in terms of perfection but if it managed to pack all of above, then it would be simply wow... Sorry nothing comes close by any company (except Sonim) in terms of what they can do... maybe even a portable charger turn it to recharge like on LED dynamos. nah maybe not. -
Why do I not see my PSE6 slide shows in the PSE8 organizer?
When I open my Organizer in PSE8, the slide shows that I thought I transferred from PSE6 on my old computer show up in Organizer as a blank image with an hourglass in the middle. Nothing happens when I double-click on it. What did I do wrong and how can I best get the slide shows from my old computer? Thanks.

PSE8 has recognized and converted one of my two catalogs, but I can't find the other one at all. How can I get it from PSE6, converted to PSE8?

I would however like to transfer the slide shows which work fine in the converted PSE8 catalog in my old computer. Some of the files are pdf which I assume I could transfer by simply dragging and dropping. Is there a proper way to transfer just the slide show projects from PSE8 on my old computer to PSE8 on my new computer?
The only way to transfer slide-show projects is to transfer the entire catalog file -- you can't move or transfer individual projects. You can move the individual PDF or move files that the projects created, but of course you can't edit those later. -
An error occurred while exporting the slide show
This error has been talked about ever since iPhoto 5. It is usually rectified by having a Movies folder in the home directory.
I have iPhoto 6.06 and am trying to export into iMovie 6.03. The exporting process goes through its paces but produces the error at the end. I do have a Movies folder in my home directory; the exporting process does even create a file called .mov in the Movies folder, and if I try to export again with the same file name it claims that the file exists, and do I want to replace it? Yet, Quicktime Player 7.4.5 cannot open it and claims that it is not a movie file. What is going on here? ANy help very appreciated.Hi Terence,
thanks for the fast turnaround. I had already trashed the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file several times before. I don't think the problem is with Quicktime, since the error message occurs in iPhoto. I checked Permissions; there were a few problems with Flash, which I corrected, but nothing with iPhoto or Quicktime. I tried exporting the slide show again and got this in the Console Log:

slideshow max texture size 1536
2008-05-26 19:40:32.746 iPhoto[275] Slideshow movie export failed with error code -47."
Unfortunately my MacBook is a work machine and I am not its administrator, so Icannot create a new account. This will have to wait until I get back into Uni this week.
By the way, iDVD imports the slide show correctly, but as far as I know I then cannot add commentary to it. That's why I want to go through iMovie, so that I can record my own voice commentary before it goes into iDVD.
If you have any more ideas let me know. Otherwise I'll see my administrator in the next days and hand the problem to her. I'll let you know th outcome then.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.
