Video Clips That Do Not Play Audio

I know it's something simple. But I can't seem to find the solution.
I am editing .avi video clips (talking heads) with audio which was recorded on the camera audio tracks. The video clips all play just fine with the accompanying audio in the Source Monitor as well as in the Project Panel player. But when I Insert the editied clip onto the Timeline, the video appears, while the audio does not. It's clear I have done something to my settings or the like, as this problem just appeared where previously it did not exist. Can someone direct me to the source of my problem and the fix for it. Thanks very much.
I have noticed that when selecting a clip in the Source Monitor and choosing the Display Mode with the pop-up menu that 'Audio Waveform' is now greyed out.

Did you mean to say "does not look problematic." or, as you wrote, "does look problematic."?
To answer your question, the latter; miniDV tape capture originally took place using another PC and was stored on an external HD. I downloaded the original miniDV tape files from that HD the other user had captured to. I will say this. The original notes regarding the tape logs made by the person who digitized footage indicates that the original HDV digitized footage (.mpeg) was simply "digitized." While the .avi footage was converted using Cineform; his logs also show the audio conformed using cineform as well. Is it possible this is the source of the wonkiness I am experiencing with audio and perhaps the source of all of my trouble?
To that end, if I were willing to start the project over entirely, could I simply delete the .avi files from my PC, begin a new project and import the HDV (mpeg) footage into PP project panel editing in that format? Considering the .avi DV files have a window burned Time Code which would eventually require me to conform the original HDV footage (mpeg) to the .avi (rough/fine) edit, would I be better off working with the original HDV footage to start with?
Oh. And to answer your last question: Yes, I have had no troubles whatsoever with scratch V.O. audio files I have recorded myself. I have recorded them at 24-bit 48K sample rate .WAV (poly) files and simply performed a drag and drop to my desktop before copying them over to my data disk where all the other files for my project reside. Each and every V.O. file I create shows up as a Waveforem on the Timeline.

the audio description in the way of number of channels? If you open the Audio Meter (Window Menu/Audio Meters) and you play back
the video in the Premiere Elements Editor, how many channels does the Audio Meter display?
I just drag and drop video and when playing back only channel 1 will appear

I think you can only use audio if it's recorded on channel 1 or it does not recognize it.

Why does my ipod not play audio?

my ipod touch 4th gen 16gb will not play audio unless it has headphones in. it is second hadn but the seller said nothing about this and the ipod is in perfect condition except for this. i have tried putting the headphones in and out and resetting the ipod, neither of these made any difference. when i play a video or a track without headphones in, the volume slider disappears as if there is no audio file. alarms and facetime sound effects etc still play so i dont think the speakers are broken. please help.

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings

- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

Encore 1.5 projects not playing audio in Encore 2.0

So far, four out of five transcoded projects I created in Encore 1.5 will not play audio in Encore 2.0. I can open the projects up in 1.5 and get audio with video. I close 1.5, start up 2.0 and load the project. Previewing it results in a silent movie. No audio whatsoever.
Other projects have converted fine. I notice that no Audio Conforming goes on for the non-audio projects, while I see Audio Conforming for the lone 3min 30sec project that does have functional video. Am I missing something here?

Okay, stupid me. Not enough disk space on the drive where the project is located. Once I cleared off some space, the Audio Conforming bar went ahead and I have my audio.
By the way, I was looking at the Windows Task Manager, not the Progress panel.
I grumble just a little bit because there is no error message or notification of insufficient disk space. Only a mute Encore.

How do I reload my video clips that I recorded into iMovie? My project is there but my original iMovie videos are gone which does not allow my iMovie to play. The screen is black. I need Help!

where I describe what files should be present for iMovie 9 to work for someone else with a similar problem. They must either be in the users Movies folder on the start up drive or at the root level of any other partition or connected external drive.

This helped overcome the crash problem, but (as reported before), I still have to start iTunes in Safe Mode in order to watch any videos. This has been the case since 10.5.
The regular mode behavior has changed a bit - instead of the progress bar moving to the end of the video, showing no video but playing the audio for about three seconds, it now leaves the progress bar where it is ... but the rest of the behavior hasn't changed.
Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit on an HP dv8t quad-core laptop w/ 8 GB RAM, running nVidia GeForce 230M with 1 GB video RAM.
Thanks for your prompt response to the original problem posted above. At least now I'm back where I started from before I upgraded to 10.7. Not optimal, but I've finally gotten used to doing a Ctrl-Shift-click to run iTunes.

Some videos on YouTube will not play

As of a few days ago some of the videos on YouTube will not play I tried IE(I stopped using after it ask for an update) ,but then I had to use google chome and I hate it, but the videos played. Its not every video, and some times it's the same video I just played not to long ago. I fear that soon I might not be able to view most videos on YouTube. I cleared my cache, made sure everything it up-to-date, although Silverlight-plugin will not update, no matter what I try to do( I hope that is not the reason, because Silverlight won't up-date.) I'm am not sure when this problem first arose, at first I though it was Google/YouTube having issues, but it seems like Google's browser works fine on the videos that do not play on Firefox. What can I do, I need Firefox to work, I can't bare to move to another browser.

A few other thoughts:
(1) For a video where this happens, does the problem persist if you try reloading a few times using Ctrl+Shift+r?
(2) Is there any difference in how you connect to Youtube between your browsers? You can check Firefox's connection setting here:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > Network mini-tab > "Settings" button
The default is "Use system proxy settings" but you also could try "No proxy".
(3) Have you received any SSL-related errors, such as pages reporting a certificate problem and requiring you to make an exception, or missing styles or functionality on secure sites?
(4) If you opted in to the html5 player, is there a pattern of the problem videos being in one format or the other (HTML5 player vs. Flash player)? https://www.youtube.com/html5

My 2nd generation ipod touch will not play audio books. How do I fix this? I downloaded the books from iTunes on my computer. I loaded them on my ipod. It shows them on my ipod. It will go to the menu where you can choose which book and then actually pulls up the book then acts like it is going to play. Then it just goes back to the list of books. It won't play any of them. It will play music though.

Clips that don't play

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post my question, but maybe someone could help me.
I was following an on-line tutorial for basic Flash gaming. How to use the arrow keys to move your movie clip around the screen.
I followed the tutorial pretty closely. I got the arrows working: my character moves in all the right directions,
and goes to the appropriate frames they're supposed to, within the main charcter movie clip, but the movie clips on those frames don't play.
So the character just glides around, instead of running.
I have a movie clip on a frame for RIGHT, LEFT, UP ,DOWN When the movie clips are played individually in the library, they work, the charcter runs, but when the actionscript goes to play the frame they're on, they remain stuck in the first frame of their animation and they just glide around on the screen.

Does anyone have an Idea why the clips aren't playing?
I'm using Flash CS3, Action Script 3,
Scene1 has 2 Layers, one frame on each. One for the main character movie clip, that has a Layer inside it with four frames, each frame labled and containing the movies clips that don't play in the final SWF.
The other Layer has the script. The script shows no errors. I don't think it's the script, It has to be something with the movie clips or the frames they're on.
If this isnt the right forum for this question, can someone refer somewhere else?

no. the movie clips don't have stop() actions on them, however, they each have their own frame inside the main movie clip. the frames are labeled, and the script has gotoAndStop() that references each frame. The script goes to and stops at the frames as it's supposed to, but doesn't play the clip on that frame. I already tried gotoAndPlay() , but it doesn't work either.
the movieclips are movie clip symbols, when i click them in the library they run, but don't loop. I have to keep clicking play to replay the clip. They do however loop when placed on the stage and tested in the scene. But, of course, wont play at all when nested on the frames of the main character movieclip.

And if the clips are not contiguous - Then You have to do as in all versions of iMovie from the very beginning.
• Put the clips into one new project
• Export this as full quality QuickTime movie
• Import this new merged QT-clip into Your main project
This is a way around that are very basic and used whenever more elaborated scenes are prepared - e.g. multiple text clips or when in need of adding several functions into it.
Tedious - but it always been like this - in contrast to FinalCut.
