Video conferencing and SIP URI setup

I am new to Cisco's video products and am trying to configure them for some simple video conferencing. I currently have the following in our environment:
CUCM v7.1.5
VCS X7.2.1
TMS v14.1.0
MCU 5320 v4.3(2.17)
EX90 vTC5.1.2
I am also new to SIP URI dialing. I have done some base configuration on my VCS, TMS, and MCU, following the installation and configuration guide. What I am struggling with is what I need in order to set up the SIP URI info for the EX90. Does there need to be an AD account configured that has a sip directory value? Or can I just use whatever SIP address I want as long as the domain matches what I put in the VCS for the domain and allow list?
I followed the following guides:
TMS
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/telepresence/infrastructure/tms/install_guide/Cisco_TMS_install_guide_14-1.pdf
VCS
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/telepresence/infrastructure/vcs/install_guide/Cisco_VCS_Getting_Started_X7-2.pdf
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/telepresence/infrastructure/vcs/config_guide/Cisco_VCS_Basic_Configuration_Single_VCS_Control_Deployment_Guide_X7-2.pdf
MCU
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/telepresence/infrastructure/mcu/install_guide/Cisco_TelePresence_MCU_5300_Series_Getting_started.pdf
VCS & CUCM Call routing
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/telepresence/infrastructure/vcs/config_guide/Cisco_VCS_Cisco_Unified_Communications_Manager_Deployment_Guide_CUCM_6-1_7_8_and_X7-0.pdf
Any assistance and understanding that can be shared would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Mr. A little confused - Arras V. Martin

Hi Arras.  Good morning.  I'm going to hopefully answer some of your questions you have here.  You also may find that the Telepresense Community on the Support Forums is a great place to post this as well.
First, I would recomment to you to update from TMS 14.1 to TMS 14.1.1.  There was a major scheduling bug in this release, and had to be removed and updated with TMS 14.1.1.  I would start by updating TMS to that version.
CUCM 7.1.5 is a bit older release.  There are some nuasances with this version that have been fixed in 8.6.2 CUCM.  Also, if running 8.5 CUCM or higher, you can add this to TMS and manage TP endpoints on CUCM via this version.  So if you have CTS endpoints or EX, MX and C-series registered to CUCM, you can manage and schedule those units in TMS.
Q -Does there need to be an AD account configured that has a sip directory value?
A - If you add the device in TMS and have it registered to VCS as SIP, you can configure the SIP URI field to whatever SIP URI you wish to assign to the system.  As long as the domain you specify is part of VCS domain and your allow list pattern or rule is ok, the system should register just fine.
If you running SIP only environment, you can always restrict bookings in TMS to allow SIP only if this is what your gearing towards.
Hope this helps you out a bit.  Feel free to post any more questions here you may have and will do my best to get those answered for ya.

  • TCS SIP URIs drop registration

    Good Morning all,
Have an odd issue. I have a new TCS implementation that we had installed just about 2 weeks ago. The TCS will register H.323 and SIP URIs to my VCS without issue. However, I see that the SIP URIs disappear from the VCS after a while. I haven't been able to narrow down a time-frame or activity that causes it, but as soon as I reset the TCS services, it will re-register. The H.323 registration stays without problems. Any ideas why it does that??

    Hi Jaime,
    Thanks for the reply..
Funnily enough I was thinking of something similar to your reply.. and it did occur to me how it would differentiate what resides in VC land and what is in CUCM land..
Having a different domain name for our CUCM registered DX80 endpoints is not particularly desirable, therefore does that mean we would need to define entry for each endpoint to tell it to route towards CUCM..
Ive made a bit of progress today but it's still messy to get it to work.. but think it touches on what your are saying..
    So...
Dialling [email protected], hits the search rule on VCS which redirects it to the DX80 ( in CUCM land ) and our end point rings.
Dialling [email protected], does not seem to hit the search rule on VCS ( get the error, 404 Not found ) and therefore does not get routed to CUCM.. This is strange as it is basically the same as the rule Ive created for 1001.
** If it did manage to hit CUCM, I would expect it to resolve to the end point 1001, as Ive created a Directory URI associating the extension and SIP name..
As dialling [email protected] seemed to work, Ive created a new translation search rule on VCS.. So..
Dialling [email protected] now hits a search rule, which translates the entry to…. [email protected]
This then matches the other rule and correctly routes over to CUCM and our DX80 endpoint rings. !.
Again, this is odd as it does prove that a variation of the [email protected] search rule does work , so I don’t understand why a simple reroute statement doesn’t work and we're having to do a translation instead !!..
So kinda working but a very messy way of doing it…. And also we'd have to assign a static routing entry for each DX80 endpoint..
    Any thoughts please ?

  • What System Can use for Phone & Video Conferencing

    Hello,
What System to recommend to use for our Small office on both Voice and Video Conferencing.
    and to our branch offices.
    Regards,

    Hi Angelo,
As Jaime suggested the design needs to be validated before its implemented. Assuming you are using CUCM, you can look at the possibility of using 9971 series IP phones with Video conferencing capable ISR G2 routers with PVDM-3. Please check the following

  • CUCM registered SX10s and adhoc video conferencing

    Hi All,
We have a customer with CUCM 10.5 looking to do some very basic video conferencing (multi party but only need loudest talker switching).  Simplicity is key here, they are used to adhoc conferencing including MeetMe in CUCM using traditional IP phones.  They are looking at installing SX10s in a few meeting rooms, registered to CUCM 10.5.  The questions I have are:
    i) Is it possible to use a G2 ISR (2911 etc.) with a homogeneous conference bridge configured for h264 / HD 720p and have the SX10s be part of a conference?  The data sheet indicates the SX10s support 720p30 (http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/collaboration-endpoints/telepresence-quick-set-series/datasheet-c78-731274.html).  I understand there would be some serious limitations here like no transcoding (all parties in the conference have to support the 720p stream), this shouldn't be an issue as all devices will be SX10s.
ii) Is it possible to initiate a MeetMe conference from an SX10, either from the remote or a touch 10?
ii) Is it possible to dial into a MeetMe conference from an SX10, either from the remote or a touch 10?
iii) Is it possible to escalate a point to point call to an adhoc conference from an SX10, either from the remote or a touch 10?
The Cisco TelePresence Endpoints and Cisco Unified Communications Manager document (http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/telepresence/endpoint/codec-c-series/tc7/administration-guide/administering-endpoints-running-tc72-on-ucm1051.pdf) has a few lines on adhoc conferencing (page 54) which says "To enable ad hoc conferencing the CUCM must be set up with a Conference Bridge (media resources), and the conference bridge must be added as a Cisco Telepresence MCU in CUCM."  Which makes me doubt the PVDM3 video conference bridge would be supported.
Are there any other solutions to a simple video conference requirement, or would it have to be a MCU registered to CUCM?
    Thanks,
    Jonathan

With the SX10's registered to CUCM there is several options here. One is that if they own a good amount of CUWL then there is the ability to get free TelePresence Server licenses. I believe it is for every 30 CUWL pro they get 1 screen license and the ability to install conductor. In order to install this you need to make sure that you have VMware resources to handle those two installs. Then you can have your ad hoc meeting configured in that.
If they want a physical appliance than a MCU 53xx can be used as well. License it based on how many people you want in one bridge.
In either case you will need to configure the Media Resource Group option in UCM to point to those SIP trunks to allow for the 3 way video call to happen and it will be automatic to the end user. They will see a call coming in and then the option to accept and merge.
I remember reading about using a GSR but it has to have the DSP 3 module in it for the video encoding.

  • Video Resolution and monitor setup

OK, I need a little help here because I can not get what I want.  I am running a gaming system with MSI Plat. K9A2, with 8G gskil ram @1066, timings 5-5-5-15, 2.1v, two saphire 4870 1g cards, crossfireX via dual HDMI. CCC 9.7 for 64 bit on 64 bit Vista Prem.  The monitors are ACER H233H with a max resolution of 1920x1080.  I am basically only using widows video config. and CCC. I am set to extend my desk top.  If i try to run 1920x1080 it crops around the image by abour 3/4 of an inch.  The same for both monitors.  I can run both at 1650x1080, full screen without a problem. color is 32bit. 59-60 hz is the refresh rate.  I have tried to force the config. for full screen 1920x1080, but still get the cropping or the 1920x1080 monitor pushes the windows tool bar off the screen along with any icons that are left side of the primary monitor.  All drivers are up to date at this time.  I have tried ccc with full enable gpu scaling, no change.  I have tried the setup with maintaining aspect ratio, scaling image to full (where it is set now) and using centered timings, no change.  I can not change the scaling options slide bar or check the box, the slider is all the way up to over  scan (which may be the problem), but i can not change it. The OSD H-position and V-position for each on monitor control is 83 and 3 respectively.  The screens are set at full, If i set them at aspect I get cropping of about 1 inch on the right and left side of each monitor. DDC is on, and ACM is off.  Under the regular settings for color management I can no change the V.position and H.position, they are set to 0.  Any thoughts?  I am well powered and well cooled, so that is not a problem.  Thanks in advanced.

Thanks guys. There's no issue with playing the video when launching it direct in Windows Media Player. Its just when launched from the DirectShow API. We've now got a 3rd party looking at that API and have a temporary fix.
So for future reference there are no specific problems with the rendering, codecs or resolutions, but there may be an issue with applications that launch high res media on to a 2nd monitor with the DirectShow API.
    thanks

  • I work for a teaching hospital. We are using groups of 20 to 30 iPads for access to patient electronic records, video conferencing software, and other, HIPPA compliant apps. I need to be able to access the iPads to shut down and erase in case of loss.

I work for a teaching hospital. I have started a program to place Physicians and key support personnel on iPads for electonic medical records, video conferencing software, and other HIPPA compliant issue. I have a need to have one central program that can push out updates, other information, but most importantly, can erase the iPad in cases of loss or stolen. Can anyone direct me to such software.

The Mac mini does have somewhat powerful specs at top end.
Mac mini with OS X Server features a 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor that delivers incredible speed and performance, thanks to innovations like Turbo Boost 2.0, Hyper-Threading, and an integrated memory controller. Add in 6MB of L3 cache, and you’ll find that Mac mini with OS X Server is packed with power.

  • Video conferencing between CCM and CCME

    Hi,
We are having CCM4.1(3)at central location. In branch location we are having CCME 4.0(2).Both the locations are connected through leased circuit. We enabled Video on IP Phone which is registered to CCM and also we configured CCME for video. When we start doing video conferencing between these two location, it's not happenning. In VT advantage it is showing local image on Local & Remote screen. I don't know what is the problem.
Can you guys please tell me wheather Video Conferencing will work between CCM & CCME over the leased circuit using VT Advantage.
If it works, please tell me what are configuration parameters i need to configure on CCM & CCME.
    Thanks & Regards

By default all IP traffic is permitted through a VPN tunnel except broadcast and multicast traffic. It basically is a matter of how the video software you are using works. If it is a multicast application then it will not work through an ipsec tunnel, if it is a unicast application then it should be able to work.
Also if this video is on the Internet tries to enable split tunnel on the VPN endpoint. Now if the issue is with a video that is on the PC, this might be because a software corruption of the OS, so try reinstalling the VPN Client software

  • RV082 and video conferencing

RV082 router is not allowing video conferencing through to Polycom 7000 HD.  voice comes through but no video.
    Have tried several things.
1.) necessary ports ( Polycom provided) forwarded to designated internal ip / firewall acess allowed ( external ips to designated internal ip ) respective port Qos set to high.
2.) set dmzhost to designated internal ip address. Respective port Qos set to high.
3.) enabled Upnp with necessary (Polycom provided) ports forwarded to designated internal ip address.
    Is something missed?
Other option is obtain second external ip address and connect to DMZ port. Trying to avoid a second external ip.

    multicast passthrough is enabled.
At this point I am leaning towards a bandwidth problem.  Since this unit is sharing the local network - there may not be
enough bandwidth the support the video signal but sufficient for voice.

I think, I got your point.
You are saying that Java Web Start are using to install client applications remotely. Am I right?Basically, yes.
and these applications can be developed in AWT/Swing or Applet.Yes.
    But my concern is different.
I need a web application, that means application will be running on the web server and more than 1 clients will access this via the http URL. ..This is equally easy for either an embedded applet or an app. launched using JWS. So long as the server-side component of the teleconferencing is at the same site that served the app., either can access it while in a sand-box. If the server-side component is at a different site, either type would need to be digitally signed, and trusted.
..I don't have to install the application to each client separately. .. OK - not for the server-side component, but for the client-side component, it sure does need to be installed if it is either an embedded applet or a JWS app. The only real difference is that for some people, downloading an applet is not seen as 'installing' software, though in reality it is. An applet must be cached on the client-side before the code is invoked to make the applet appear in the web page. Where JWS provides a better user experience than applets though, is that the browser (and JRE) cache might be cleared (effectively 'uninstalling' the applet), by things outside Java's control (such as the user clearing the browser's cache using the browser's own controls).
..so I need the video and audio conferencing in this application itselt. it will be like a website.
so please tell me, what I have to do?I am still not convinced that this needs to be, or will provide a better user experience as, an applet. But let's put that thought aside for the moment.
Can you do this video conferencing using the cross-platform version of the JMF? The cross-platform version of JMF does not support as many formats(1) as the JMF performance pack - and you might find that the PP version supports some formats that offer better compression than the x-plat version is able to handle. Note that this can be tested once you have the server-side component in place - it is pretty much the same for an applet, JWS app., or plain old desktop app. such as JMStudio (provided as a sample app. with JMF) to access the web service that provides the video feed.
    1) [http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/desktop/media/jmf/2.1.1/formats.html].
