Video Conferencing over LAN's

Hi,
I would like to set up video conferencing for our company. Ideally we are looking for the ability for internal users to use CUVA with their IP Phones (which they can currently do), with the ability for other companies to also connect - I'm guessing through a gateway device. Multiparty conferences are required. We also have a few Tandberg H.323 devices in meeting rooms which would be good to be included. What would be required for this setup? Is a Cisco Unified Videoconferencing 3515 Multipoint Control Unit (MCU) all that is required or is there additional requirements? Your thoughts, etc would be appreciated.

bandwidth should be at least 384k or 512k

  • Video conferencing over LAN

I want to do a project on video conferencing over LAN .Plz help me
    for implementation.

Have you tried AVTransmit2 and AVReceive2 to transmit multicast stream. then have multiple receivers join and disconnect.
It works without any code modification, so I would study the differences between that and yours.
I think I asked this before, are you transmitting multisession?? and receive multisession??
Are you using linux by chance?

  • Video Conferencing over Low speed WAN links

    Hi there,
Can somebody explain possible point-to-nultipoint video conferencing solution over low speed WAN links ?
( I have central site and about 20 remote sites - hub and spoke configuraition)
    a. What is the minimum BW requirement
    b. If using Cisco Video advantage at users desktop how do we select the proper MCU at the central site ?

Buffer 15 to 30 seconds. Make sure to tell them there will be
a long load time. There really isn't much you can do besides
    that.

  • Video Conferencing over IP

    Hi,
My customer has cucm8.x, cups 8.x and Unity 8.x in a centralized call processing with 5 remote sites in total connected via MPLS. They are interested in a video conferencing solution for boardroom and desktop.
What cisco solution (hardware and software) should I be looking at to satisfy this need. I need to make a presentation tomorrow, assistance is much appreciated. In the board room they would like to use their LCD TV as well for picture display or any other alternative. Not telepresence, too pricy for their requirement
    Nki

Well, you may not care any more since you have presented you may have already presented your solution....
Anyway, Cisco TelePresence no longer refers to the high-end "immersive telepresence" product line. Cisco has decided that TelePresence is a brand not a product. This brand now includes hardware and software that have been absorbed in the Cisco portfolio as a result of the Tandberg acquisition.
So, don't let the term TelePresence in a Cisco doc throw you off.
Cisco has plenty of video options in their portfolio now, go here:

  • Live Video Broadcasting over LAN

    Hi Guys,
I have studied the JMF Framework.
And sucessfully transmitted and received video and audio over a network i.e. LAN.
Also I have successful in displaying Webcam onto applet.
Only issue with me is how do I broadcast the Live Video to clients.
Do help me at the earliest.
    Thanks and Regards,

Ummm, the same way you broadcast a video file.
You feed the DataSource associated with your web cam through a Processor, program the Processor's tracks to output the encoding you want, and then you send that out via RTP.
And on the receiving end, nothing changes from the video file.

  • H.323 video QOS over LAN to LAN

I need to configure QOS for video over gig fiber LAN(4506 catalyst switch) to LAN(3500 switch)

Many IP video conference applications use the H.323 suite of protocols. The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) H.323 defines an international standard for multimedia over IP. Refer URL

  • H323 Video conferencing over WAN

We have the following setup for a pilot Videoconferencing project running over the WAN. The video quality in general is not satisfactory.
    1) Tandberg 880MXP registering to local gatekeeper. Another Tandberg 770MXP registering to the above gatekeeper.
    2) The 770 MXP is located in a remote office, connected via a VPN link.
    3) The available bandwidth is 1.2M and the link is not used much for data or voip, so we get about 1M always for video.
    4) the WAN link is a ATM connection to the remote ISP, in the headquaters here the link bandwidth is 30M.
    5) The tandberg 880 and 770 are on separate internal subnets.
    Problem
    1) The video quality even with a 256k video call is average with lots of pixalation and some packet drops.
    2) The average delay is 40ms and avergae jitter is 8ms.
    3) The endpoints register about 8% video packet loss/drop.
    4) The call never drops, but constant packet loss occurs.
    5) An iperf test run over the same link, showed a consistent 1M bandwidth with 0.01% packet loss in general.
We have tried various qos policies and also tried running without a VPN over GRE tunnel. But the quality is still unsatisfactory.
    Side notes:
    1) A call to other locations tends to be very good. Probably pinning the issue on the wan link. but we are unable to find the real cause.. especially with iperf tests working fine.
Any help, leads or directions would be extremely helpful.
    Thanks
    Manish

    Hi,
iperf only shows packet loss, while the the endpoints are suffering from late packets also.
Are you doing qos pre-classification to mark the DSCP value in VPN outer header too ? That would give ISP a chance of applying some QoS to your video, at least they can be asked to do so.
Hope this helos, please rate post if it does!

  • Is it possible to use a Cisco 2800 IOS H323 voice gateway for video conferencing over ISDN?

I have seen this page and was wondering if what it says actually is possible and works? I also have got a CUCM 8.6 that I would like to use for call routing via my old 2600XM gatekeeper.

  • So is anyone doing video conferencing over 3-4G?

My DSL is horrible 1Mdown 380K Up and considering going to mobile because of speeds.   My question would be around latency and jitter.
    Thanks

Hi bahamamills, welcome to the community. Are you asking about speed? With 3G, download speed average  600 Kbps - 1.4 Mbps,  upload  500 - 800 Kbps.
4G average download speed is 2 to 5 Mbps, upload 5 to 12 Mbps and average latency 30ms. Keep in mind a latency below 50ms is equal to wireline connections.
You can confirm coverage in your area at www.verizonwireless.com/coveragelocator
To read more about our 4G network go to www.verizonwireless.com/4g
We do have great 3G coverage in Bahamas, NC and a 14-day trial period so you can try the service yourself without any obligation.
    Thanks. Have a great evening!

  • New video Conferencing project

Hi, thanks to all in advance, I hope you can help, this the situation: My company just purchased a list of devices which include:
    IPVC-3515-MCU12
    CISCO2851
    IPVC-3527-GW1P
Now, I have no experience with Video Services deployment, where do I start? what are the requirements if this needs to go over the internet to another site, what is involved in this? multicast, QoS, etc? and where can I get some white papers to begin with, thanks again.

You need a very good bandwidth. It should not be less than 512 kbps. You have to enable the QoS and codecs.

  • Implementing video conferencing in an existing voice network

I have been tasked with adding two Polycom video conferencing stations to our existing LAN.  Currently, we have Voice on VLAN 100 and Data is on VLAN 1.  (I know, I know...VLAN 1 ).  AutoQoS has been enabled on our switches.  My questions:  1) Should the two VC stations be assigned to their own VLAN?  2) Is AutoQoS still an option for me?
This site is connected to our others via VPN over broadband.  I realize I can't do end-to-end QoS using this WAN connection, but I'd like to try and push the video to the front of the line as it leaves.
    Thanks for your time.

    Hello,
Yes you can add your Jetpack to your existing WiFi network, but it is going to take some configuration to get the job done.  What you need to perform is a process called "Cascading" your routers together.  In a nutshell, two routers cannot exist on the same network unless they know how to communicate to each other.  You need to setup the routers so that one is the Primary and the other is the secondary.
    How to Cascade Routers:
    http://www.wikihow.com/Cascade-Routers
However, the catch with cascading routers when a Jetpack is involved is that a Jetpack is a wireless only device.  The USB Tethering feature of the 4620L will not be sufficient for cascading, it must be a WiFi  connection that links the Jetpack to the other router.  You may have to swap out your current home WiFi router with one that has a wireless bridging feature.  A quick example would be the Pepwave Surf Mini.
Here is a diagram of how the new home network could look:
Take a look and let me know if you have any questions.  Post your home router model for us to review if you are curious to know if it can connect directly to the Jetpack or not.

  • Two EX90 devices can make video calls over Internet with No VCS-C and VCS-E

    Dear Experts;
I  have just started TelePresence and VCS 2 weeks before by going through cisco docs and videos and I had taken a risk of implementing the infrastructure elements.
We are now implementing Cisco Tele presence with VCS-C, VCS-E TMS,TCS,MCU and End points with  Jabber in One setup.
and in another setup CUCM 10.5,UCCX 10.5 IM&P,Jabber with some 10 agents.
Now the question is In our same building in 2nd floor we have one EX90 and in 5th Floor one EX90 and over LAN we can make video calls using IP address.
In the same way is it possible to make  a video call between 2 EX90 devices present in different location in the same city over Internet without the involvement of VCS-C and VCS-E.
    Appreciate your valuable reply.
    Regards
    Debashis

The simple answer to that is NO! Where is the EX90 registered to at the moment? Is it on the VCS? or CUCM

  • Secure Video conferencing with the ability to record

    Hi,
I am looking for a flash based secure video conferencing app which has the ability to record conferences.
I need it to enable a series of helpdesk type sessions and would prefer to use Flash so that the users do not have long set-up times.
Does anyone know of any off the shelf or open source apps that are out there?
    Thanks

Well and If you look at any thing by blackberry you can see that it does not match up on its features versus the iPhone. iPhone users and those of us who use it for it's amazing abilities aren't caught up on the fact that it lacks video, or picture messaging. There are other things that are more important to worry about with this phone. Play around with it and you can see that this is a very powerful tool. I switched to AT&T just to get the iPhone. Blackberry's phones have nothing on the iPhone, the way i look at it is the iPhone can only blow your mind away in the next model and until then get used to it's functions. I'd rather know how to use it at it's "simple" state as opposed to it high tech overly advanced possibilities.
