Video conferencing through Flex2

Hi,
I am a newbie to Flex and wanted to know whether applications
like video conferencing, audio conferencing or chat are possible to
be developed in flex. If yes how could it be developed. Kindly
suggest me some tutorials or sites from which i could get the
required help.

It covers how to set up an application where you can see
yaself in the web cam and I think also stream the cam image through
a flash media server...although not sure.
Managed to get my cam image working fairly easily and
embedded in the application window which is the main thing though.
Not totally sure how you would go about getting the other person's
camera to appear on the same screen though...if you find out I
would love to know.

Yes Its true i was a reaching ability Issue. The problem is resolved now. The problem ws that, I was able to ping the system,I was also able to brows The system but video was not successful. Infact the problem was that the Video conferencing system was getting ip add from DHCP server,But in return it was using widows default address. That is why my request was not able to reach back to me.

Video Conferencing through HTTPS

I am trying to establish a video conference through a secured web pages. how can i do this.. right now i am able to establish a video conference using JMF and the packets are flowing as RTP and RTCP.
How can i develope a secured web site using JMF or JApplet.. or any other java technologies.. Please help me in this...

RV082 and video conferencing

RV082 router is not allowing video conferencing through to Polycom 7000 HD. voice comes through but no video.
Have tried several things.
1.) necessary ports ( Polycom provided) forwarded to designated internal ip / firewall acess allowed ( external ips to designated internal ip ) respective port Qos set to high.
2.) set dmzhost to designated internal ip address. Respective port Qos set to high.
3.) enabled Upnp with necessary (Polycom provided) ports forwarded to designated internal ip address.
Is something missed?
Other option is obtain second external ip address and connect to DMZ port. Trying to avoid a second external ip.

multicast passthrough is enabled.
At this point I am leaning towards a bandwidth problem. Since this unit is sharing the local network - there may not be
enough bandwidth the support the video signal but sufficient for voice.

IChat AV video conferencing problems (again!)

The more experienced I get with Macs, the more nothing makes me want to bang my head against a brick wall quite like video conferencing with iChat. Why it can't "just work" like everything else on a Mac I just don't know.
Any way, my problem: In a nut shell I can no longer video conference with my parents (200 miles away so it makes for long telephone conversations when trouble shooting!). I can happily video conference with others so I'm thinking the problem is at their end not mine.
I'm using an iMac g5 with a BT Voyager 2091 wireless router with BT ISP. They are using an iMac g5 with a Zoom X5 on Karoo.
To complicate matters, I recently had a hard drive failure which resulted in reinstalling OSX. I have reconfigured all my port forwarding (I had to create a new static IP). And as I said I can video conference now with someone else in the same room on an iBook (I turned off my airport and used ethernet to make sure).
My parents also had to replace their router as the last one died. I set it up for them and did the port forwarding. After we couldn't make a video connection I've just been through the port forwarding again over the phone with my dad. It still doesn't work. I'm fairly confident he did it correctly (it took 3 hours!) so now I'm at a loss.

Video Conferencing over LAN's

Hi,
I would like to set up video conferencing for our company. Ideally we are looking for the ability for internal users to use CUVA with their IP Phones (which they can currently do), with the ability for other companies to also connect - I'm guessing through a gateway device. Multiparty conferences are required. We also have a few Tandberg H.323 devices in meeting rooms which would be good to be included. What would be required for this setup? Is a Cisco Unified Videoconferencing 3515 Multipoint Control Unit (MCU) all that is required or is there additional requirements? Your thoughts, etc would be appreciated.

Video Conferencing Systems vs Basic IP Cameras

Hello all,
I am new to video over IP technologies.
We need a system where 2 or 3 people can basically talk to each other (Audio/Video).
A vendor is trying to steer us into purchasing a high priced video conferencing system, although I do not see the difference between a video conferencing "system" and some IP Cameras. As long as the people can see each other (through a web browser, or other method) and the cameras are of high quality, what's the difference between a IP Camera "system" and a Video Conferencing "system"?

Well the question is how are you going to do conferencing with "just some IP cameras"? In its simplest form you need some type of application to do video conferencing. Smmething like Yahoo IM, AOL IM, Windows Messenger, NetMeeting, etc. These applictions tend to allow one-on one video conferncing but some are getting better. Even with apps as old as Netmeeting you could have more than 2 people on a call but you could only ever see 2 people at once at the most. Not sure about some of the new versions of IM clients though.
In general you need an MCU (Multi-point Conference Unit) in order to have true multi-party conferencing.
These units will allow everyone to see everyone else at the same time (within space constraints offered by the size of the monitor).
There are plenty of (relatively) inexpensive MCUs out there and a vast array of features. I don't think the vendor is steering you in the wrong direction. The only problem is determining if an MCU is overkill or not. Perhaps using an IM client app might be enough for your needs.

Video conferencing project

Hi all,
I am current embarking on a video conferencing project. I am trying to write an applet that send text, audio and video. I have written the part that send the text but I have no clue as to how to start the others. what i am trying to accomplish is this. I have a list of users online, connected to my applet server in the backend. If i should click on any of those persons then I should be able to see their webcam and get audio from them through their ipaddress and they would automatically see my webcam and hear me. is this possible? I know that JMF can be used. I have seen the examples but can't seem to figure them out. Could some send me a simple code that sends the live data from an applet to a server and from the server to another applet. the server is like a router.

Video conferencing between CCM and CCME

Hi,
We are having CCM4.1(3)at central location.In branch location we are having CCME 4.0(2).Both the locations are connected through leased circuit. We enabled Video on IP Phone which is registered to CCM and also we configured CCME for video. When we start doing video conferencing between these two location, it's not happenning. In VT advantage it is showing local image on Local & Remote screen. I don't know what is the problem.
Can you guys please tell me wheather Video Conferencing will work between CCM & CCME over the leased circuit using VT Advantage.
If it works, please tell me what are configuration parameters i need to configure on CCM & CCME.

By default all IP traffic is permitted through a VPN tunnel except broadcast and multicast traffic. It basically is a matter of how the video software you are using works. If it is a multicast application then it will not work through an ipsec tunnel, if it is a unicast application then it should be able to work.
Also if this video is on the Internet tries to enable split tunnel on the VPN endpoint. Now if the issue is with a video that is on the PC, this might be because a software corruption of the OS, so try reinstalling the VPN Client software

ISDN BRI Network side to Video conferencing unit

I would like to know if I can use a Cisco router (1760) to provide BRI's to a video conferencing unit. I would like the router to be configured for the NETWORK side so essentially it appears as the PSTN. At the main site I have a Cisco CallManager server that I would like to take in video calls from other offices and have CM basically perform the call setup to the video device connected to the 1760 router. The 1760 would connect to the CM via MGCP.

Unfortuneatly not - IOS will not switch non voice calls through BRI ports - video calls use a data bearer capability.
There is video support coming out soon for Call Manager - keep an eye out for it.

I want to allow online video conferencing classes on my website. How can I achieve it with Skype manager? Will Skype provide me a link to their service or some code that I can embed into my site?

Is video conferencing possible with iPad 1?

I have an iPad...is it possible at all to do video conferencing on it using external video cameras?

Yes ... currently the only way to update your iPad software is through iTunes on your computer. Transfer your purchase first and you should have no worries. Read my response to this post (yours as well) and hopefully your fears will go by the wayside.

IChat + MSN Messenger Contacts + iSight = Video Conferencing

I have recently converted my windows-based laptop to a MacBook. Thus, I am very new to this new system. I need some assistance or guidance as I am unsure of how I can:
1) use iChat or equivalent with video conferencing features (because MSN Messenger for Mac does not have important feature) to video conference with my contacts in MSN Messenger for Windows?
2) still be able to chat with my contacts in MSN Messenger for Windows, without them installing iChat or equivalent?
3) use the built-in iSight to video conference with them?
4) configure iChat or equivalent to chat with my contacts if all of the above are possible?

1) If video conferencing is so important you could use skype or a jabber client that supports both video and audio. Your friends have to install skype or a jabber client too though.
2) With a jabber account and iChat you can chat with your buddies on msn, yahoo, aim google-talk, ICQ etc. This is done through Jabber-gateways or transports. JabberLive! ( http://jabberlive.org ) has many gateways you can register with.
3) Possible through skype or a jabber client that supports both video and audio.
4) If you want to chat with your buddies using iChat you definitely have to get a jabber account. ( I can recommend http://jabberlive.org)
