  • HT4534 Mac Mini HD Video Conferencing

I am considering purchase of a mac-mini for video conferencing.  This article (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4534?viewlocale=en_US) refers to "built in camera".  Of course, the mac-mini has no built in camera.  I would be using my HDTV for a monitor.  Can I use the Logitech c910 & the mini for HD Facetime?

I also have a mac mini and am using the Logitech C920.  At the beggining, I had issues with its built in mics not working with FaceTime, but I found a solution for the problem and now all the programs that interface with the camera work great (FT, Skype, iMovie, etc).  If you do buy the C920 run into the same issue that I had with the mic not working, here is the quick solution for the problem:
Cause of Problem:  The Logitech C920 camera/mic operates on a 2ch-16bit integer.  You can verify this by opening "finder + Utilities + Audio MIDI Setup" and then select the HD Pro Webcam C920 and look at the "Input" Default values.
The Mac Mini's "Built-In Output" and "Buiilt-In Input" formats were set for 2ch-24 bit integer.  Therefore, the default input and output were out of sync with the C920 default format.
Solution:  Change the Mac Mini's default Output to "2ch-16 bit integer".  You don't need to change the default Input but it doesn't hurt to do so.  Once you do this, the camera and it's built in mics work on facetime and all other video chat applications.

  • The Products are "Training Courses"

How to use BC E Commerce Products/Catalogs to sell Training Courses as the products.
Problem trying to configure the courses dates.
Need some kind of live calendar logic solution that shows if a particular course is FULL or available to purchase on a particular date.
And the calendar would need user access to edit.
Does BC have a calendar App or other possible calendar logic solution?
    Thanks

    Liam,
I just watched the kiyuco video on bookings - I understand the BC system and now see how to create bookings etc.
However, as your commented regarding layout deisgn, yes I've found layout presentation with BC layouts very difficult.
In this case the project is a school with about 30 classes students sign up for and pay and see the availability of seats etc.  The client will need to easily go into BC admin and edit the class dates descriptions etc. as time evolves.
What do you reccoment I do Liam?

  • I need help finding a training course for FCP X

I am on Larry Jordan's site, but that only involves watching videos.  I learn better by working on a project at the same time.  This newbie needs some direction.  I need a hands on training course.  Please help.

As some of the others have stated both Ripple Training and Lynda.com are excellent options. Lynda.com offers a very wide range of training (including Logic Pro X, Motion 5, Compressor 4, etc.) that you can access via subscription. If you want to work directly with project files then you will need the higher end subscription to download the course files. Lynda.com just updated their FCPX training to the latest version of the software. Ripple Training is also excellent, and comes from the guys behind the FCPX & Motion certification courses. Their training is offered a la carte, and will run you a few hundred dollars to get everything.
Another great option is MacProVideo.com, they offer both purchases and subscriptions and have a decent range of courses. Their new Film Craft series isn't about FCPX, but is absolutely worth taking if you're new to the industry. They have great FCPX training, but are much more geared towards music programs.
You aren't likely to find a one size fits all approach to your training needs, and honestly, if you've got the time, complete as many of them as possible. Both Lynda and Ripple offer excellent courses on the art of editing. Ripple Training's Motion courses are second to none.
One more option would be taking a course at an Apple Certified Training Center. I didn't do this for FCPX, but did for my Logic Pro X & Motion 5 certifications and it worked out very well. The downsides are that it's very expensive, but you get to sit with an instructor, ask questions, and at the end of the course you can take the certification exam for free (well, included in your class). You really can't go wrong as long as you keep your education moving forward.

  • Video conferencing software

I am coding this video conferencing software that 6 people can login and have a videoconference. This is a web-based package using applets. I started using JMF by downloading JMF from sun web site. I also found out this site that give examples.
    http://www.cs.odu.edu/~cs778/spring04/lectures/jmfsolutions/examplesindex.html
But to transmit the video it is asking for the destination IP. The applets I am building will ask the IP address of the user but what really come are the routers IP (if the user is in LAN). So what will happen is the software will send the video to the router.
My questing is what will happen to the video stream?
Will it go to the place I want?
For now I am testing this issue with this files I found in the Internet.
    http://www.cs.odu.edu/~cs778/jmfexamples/AVTransmit2.java
    http://www.cs.odu.edu/~cs778/jmfexamples/AVReceive2.java
Am I doing some thing wrong, or am I missing some thing, or will this work fine on the inter net.
I have seen some softwares using java (I think they used java) that do what I want but cant find out how they did it
When it comes to Internet stuff I am not good. So if any one can give me a working code file it would be a big help
    Thank a lot.
If theyre any one that knows how to do this and have a yahoo chat id

  • Video Conferencing in IPT

    Hi,
We have IPT setup in our customer location. With CUCM cluster and PSTN PRI for in/out calls and using microsoft exchange for VM.
    1. How about deploying Video Conferencing setup in the above IPT environment or do we need to take seperate BRI's for that ?
    2. If yes so, do we need any additional hardware like Router, cards or modules etc...
    can someone advise..

Tommer is absolutely right about defining your business requirements and clearly define *who* you want to do video with first. If the answer is "anyone" then someone is wasting money because they actually have no one specific in mind. There needs to be specific use cases that can make an impact to the business.
A few technical things to add though:
Video support over ISDN is covered by the ITU H.320 standards. Cisco IOS does actually support H.320 video gateway functionality now. This was added very late 12.4T or early in the 15.0T trains (use feature navigator to be sure). The configuration is somewhat complex though and requires some time to figure out.  H.320 Video - ISO/IEC-13871 Bonding
Cisco IOS can also perform the MCU functionality now starting in 15.1(4)M if using PVDM3 DSPs. This is very resource intensive though so be sure that the DSP calculator is run; it now has an extra page for video conferencing. The Tandberg Codian MCUs will still provide a much larger feature set. The good news is they can also register to CUCM now or in the near future as a video conference bridge.
When doing inter-company video CUBE is a valid option but it predated the Tandberg aquisition. You may want to consider the VCS Expressway now as it seems to be the product direction. Personally I suspect it will eventually be the downfall of IME but that's just unfounded speculation.

  • Requirement for Video Conferencing on CallManager 3.3

    hi,
can anyone help me on this? Im preparing for a proposal for implementing video conferencing on a CallManager 3.3. VidCon should be used on the HQ and two branch offices.
    Tnx...

the need to use video conferencing should be considered as a factor for upgrading your call managers to at least 4.1.
many enhancements, fixes and features, especially for video conferencing, have been introduced since 3.3.
if you required vidConf with 3.3, you should consider using a polycom solution.
    http://polycom.com/products_services/1,1443,pw-35,00.html
the VSX series is pretty nice with straight forward config/administration and of course, superb polycom technology/support.
(may not be the cheapest solution but it's definately stable and works well)
NOTE: the cisco IP Video Phones, 7985G, may be able to fulfill your needs; especially if vidConf is only intraCompany.
(requires 7985 phones, ccm 4.1+ and a cisco MCU)

  • Video-based training and Captivate

I'm new to Captivate. My company focuses on film production
and we have been asked to create video-based training modules for a
large customer. We do all of our production work in Final Cut and
then we transcode videos to Flash (.flv).
We intend to create online courses that are video-based ( we
will add audio voiceovers) plus we will want to add still images
with audio and text (assessments, additional content, etc.).
Finally, we will need to upload our modules into a tier 1 LMS
    (Saba, SumTotal, Oracle iLearning, etc.).
Is Captivate the tool for us?

Overall, Captivate is probably a good choice for you,
especially if you're already publishing your materials as FLV.
That said, you should probably be aware of the following when
using Captivate in the manner you've described:
    1) Per some recent forum posts, a few folks are having
trouble getting FLV files to play all the way through. The video is
being cut off at the end for some reason. I suspect it's a case of
user error when configuring the slide timing, but you might want to
do a search of the forums and see if those folks ever got things
    resolved.
    2) Audio seems to be hit or miss in Captivate. Some folks
have problems, others have none. It seems mostly to do with how the
audio is brought into Captivate (recorded directly in the product
vs brought in as externally-recorded WAV or MP3 files) and where it
is placed (inserted at the slide level, or attached to a specific
button, such as a "Play Audio" button. I don't use audio in my
projects so I can't comment on the actual details, but again, a
search of the forums might be helpful.
    3) Captivate publishes FLV files to the web as external files
that are dynamically loaded when the content is accessed. This
could potentially be a problem if the LMS doesn't allow a SCO to
consist of more than one file (seems unlikely, but worth mentioning
    just in case).
    4) Captivate offers a preloader that ensures enough of the
movie has downloaded prior to starting playback (and the preload
percentage is customizable if you own Flash). However, I don't know
if the preloader takes embedded videos into account, which could
impact your user experience if your movies are big and take a long
    time to download.
    5) Captivate advertises compatibility with SCORM-compliant
LMS products, but the published files often require tweaking to
work with a particular LMS. The forums will be helpful in this
regard, but there may also be some trial-and-error finding the
exact changes you need to make to support your specific LMS.
    6) Captivate does not support multi-SCO SCORM manifests. If
you plan on deploying a multi-SCO course via SCORM, you'll need to
use a 3rd-party tool to create the manifest file. There's a number
of free and commercial products available that support both SCORM
1.2 and SCORM 1.3 (2004). A fairly comprehensive list can be found
    here:
    http://adlcommunity.net/mod/data/view.php?id=201
Hopefully, other folks will chime in and offer assurances for
some of the issues raised above, but those are the main issues that
I've seen in the Captivate forums that might affect you.

  • Examples of amazing software training course?

Anyone have or know of examples of amazing software training courses?  I am seeking the most professional software training courses you have seen.  Maybe a consulting company or personal portfolio page?  Or maybe just a screenshot of a course that has really nice graphics, audio, video, interactions, or is just very clean and effective.  All of the above are good!
    Thanks!
    Micky

Thank you both for your feedback and links.  We are trying to determine where we want to land for a couple big projects.  We are upgrading two large software systems at our organization, and I'm leading the training.
We are leaning towards Captivate because we can also export the presentation and provide a "Quick Guide".  We are are thinking that the user would have to click next to see each step, this way they can follow along in the real software while they watch the presentation.  We have had a small audience complian when we provide videos because they couldn't keep up with the video (and they didn't feel comfortable just pushing the pause button).
Maybe we should make three different examples (video, captivate w/next, captivate with interactions on screen, PDF quick guide) and send a survey where our users can choose the method they prefer?
Maybe we can also get feedback from this wonderful community?

  • Trying to bypass CAC for Video Conferencing using EnableBWPolicyOverride

    Scenario:
CAC enabled and bandwith policy defined for all company sites. Video bandwidth very restricted (250 Kbps).
VIP users were granted a Voice Policy with EnableBWPolicyOverride=TRUE (VIP users must bypass CAC).
    Test:
P2P Video Calls between VIP users bypass CAC, allowing high video resolutions (Ok!).
Video Conferences between VIP users don't bypass CAC, limiting video to low resolution (NOT ok).
Is this expected, that Video Conferencing will not respect the EnableBWPolicyOverride=TRUE from the Voice Policy? (I know, it's a VOICE Policy and I'm tlaking about VIDEO. But remember, on P2P video call the bypass worked.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Bandwidth policy override enables administrators to override call admission control policy decisions for a particular user, however, the policy will be overridden only for incoming calls to the user and not for outgoing calls that are placed by
the user. So I think the policy does not apply to video conference.

  • How do I get a Connect Training Course to update my Captivate Presentation Version?

I am using a presentation with quiz created in Adobe Captivate 5.  I am using this as a online training course on Adobe Connect.  I published the first two versions, which are reflected in user reports in Connect.
However, I have made some important changes to the Captivate Presentation, and have published them to the Adobe Connect Server in the correct location. On the connect Admin page, it shows the updated version date/time for creation and uploading.  But when I have someone go to take the course, it is still the previous version that gets loaded.
How do I force or get the most updated version to be used on Connect?

It could be a 'caching' issue with the browser....so easy first check is to clear your browser cache then load Connect and the link again... Still not correct?
Then only thing I can suggest is you post the question to the Connect discussion group (as I don't know much at all about file management in Connect....)

  • Says my computer does not support video conferencing?

Just recently whenever i tried to do video chats it tells me my computer does not support video conferencing? How can i fix this?

In the Video Menu open the Connection Doctor and go to the Capabilities tab.
This may give you more info about which things iChat currently thinks it can do and will tell you why It thinks it can not do certain things.
If it says Low Bandwidth against some items you will need to do as Defcom says and alter the Quicktime > Streaming speed (System Preferences > Quicktime > Streaming) to 1.5Mbps and restart iChat to see the new Speed.
Also check in iChat menu > Preferences > Video section that the Bandwidth Limit drop down is not set too low. (Ideally here it should be set to NONE unless you are Comcast or Road Runner) Certainly don't use 100kbps.

  • Secure Video conferencing with the ability to record

    Hi,
I am looking for a flash based secure video conferencing app which has the ability to record conferences.
I need it to enable a series of helpdesk type sessions and would prefer to use Flash so that the users do not have long set-up times.
Does anyone know of any off the shelf or open source apps that are out there?
    Thanks

Well and If you look at any thing by blackberry you can see that it does not match up on its features versus the iPhone. iPhone users and those of us who use it for it's amazing abilities aren't caught up on the fact that it lacks video, or picture messaging. There are other things that are more important to worry about with this phone. Play around with it and you can see that this is a very powerful tool. I switched to AT&T just to get the iPhone. Blackberry's phones have nothing on the iPhone, the way i look at it is the iPhone can only blow your mind away in the next model and until then get used to it's functions. I'd rather know how to use it at it's "simple" state as opposed to it high tech overly advanced possibilities.
