Video conferencing w/apple tv

I would like to know if I can do the following.
1. Get an Apple TV
2. Get a tv with a video camera (like the Skype compatible ones)
3. Have a Mac with AirPlay
And with these three things do a google hangout where the tv would act as the screen and also the video and speakers.
Basically I want to use it for video conferencing.
Would this work?
If so is there a specific tv that's good for this? It seems like to good a solution, to easy...

airplay mirror is a 1 way push of what is shown on the device
no commication from the tv goes back so the webcam working is off the table
but you could connect a webcam to the mac my imac works perfectly fine with both it's internal webcam and my old logitech usb webcam can chooses which one I use
with a long cable it could be placed on top of the tv

  • Need help with an Apple Video Conferencing webcam

I am having a fit trying to get my Performa (6500/225) to work with the hardware I have. Previously I had a Performa 6400/180. I have an Apple Video Conferencing webcam that I was able to make work with OS 9.1. It worked with the original software that came with it and it worked with the software for the Logitech Quickcam (QuickPict setting) I was even able to use it with Ivisit (webcam program). Now that I've had to change the harddrive and reinstall everything, it doesn't work with anything but the original software.
Can anyone tell me what extensions I might need or how to configure it so it will work with what I already have?
    Performa 6500/225   Mac OS 9.1.x

Thanks to all who tried to help. As it turned out it was not a problem with the cam. It took some time and some tweaking but I did get it to work. I had a problem with the webchat program iVisit and I was able to get that solved thru their tech support forum.
This Apple Video Conference camera was a great find. I recommend it to anyone who still uses a vintage mac like mine. What a shame it was discontinued.

  • HT4534 Mac Mini HD Video Conferencing

I am considering purchase of a mac-mini for video conferencing.  This article (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4534?viewlocale=en_US) refers to "built in camera".  Of course, the mac-mini has no built in camera.  I would be using my HDTV for a monitor.  Can I use the Logitech c910 & the mini for HD Facetime?

I also have a mac mini and am using the Logitech C920.  At the beggining, I had issues with its built in mics not working with FaceTime, but I found a solution for the problem and now all the programs that interface with the camera work great (FT, Skype, iMovie, etc).  If you do buy the C920 run into the same issue that I had with the mic not working, here is the quick solution for the problem:
Cause of Problem:  The Logitech C920 camera/mic operates on a 2ch-16bit integer.  You can verify this by opening "finder + Utilities + Audio MIDI Setup" and then select the HD Pro Webcam C920 and look at the "Input" Default values.
The Mac Mini's "Built-In Output" and "Buiilt-In Input" formats were set for 2ch-24 bit integer.  Therefore, the default input and output were out of sync with the C920 default format.
Solution:  Change the Mac Mini's default Output to "2ch-16 bit integer".  You don't need to change the default Input but it doesn't hurt to do so.  Once you do this, the camera and it's built in mics work on facetime and all other video chat applications.

  • I work for a teaching hospital. We are using groups of 20 to 30 iPads for access to patient electronic records, video conferencing software, and other, HIPPA compliant apps. I need to be able to access the iPads to shut down and erase in case of loss.

I work for a teaching hospital. I have started a program to place Physicians and key support personnel on iPads for electonic medical records, video conferencing software, and other HIPPA compliant issue. I have a need to have one central program that can push out updates, other information, but most importantly, can erase the iPad in cases of loss or stolen. Can anyone direct me to such software.
    Thanks,

The Mac mini does have somewhat powerful specs at top end.
Mac mini with OS X Server features a 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor that delivers incredible speed and performance, thanks to innovations like Turbo Boost 2.0, Hyper-Threading, and an integrated memory controller. Add in 6MB of L3 cache, and you’ll find that Mac mini with OS X Server is packed with power.

  • Video Conferencing in Air 3 for Android/IOS

    Hi,
We are in the process of creating a Video Conferencing application for Android and IOS devices, the app would be published on Android and IOS market.  I have some quires related to using Air 3.0 for the development:
For Android devices Front facing camera is supported only in Air 3.0, but can we assume Air 3.0 would be officially available by end of this year?
Would this feature available for all Android 2.2 and above devices?
Can we use Flash Media Server/any other streaming server for video conferencing?
I have read in some of the post that Apple store do not allow video streaming with RTMP, is this true? Is there any work-around to use streaming video from within Air app for IOS?
    Thanks in advance!

I used milkmangames ANE. (50$), because i didnt want to fork the code for each os.
    http://www.milkmangames.com/blog/tools/
It was "easy" to set up (quotes: as easy as something complicate can be).
Consumables, or One-time-purchases worked out of the box, but restore, subscriptions and auto subscriptions (like newspapers) had bugs like hell and were unusable.
Also check out here for some free stuff (wich propably works as well as the comercial, "supported" stuff, stupid-me)...

  • IChat video conferencing problems with D-Link WBR-1310

    Howdy,
I am having a few problems with iChat video conferencing. I use the D-Link WBR-1310 wireless router and a MacBook. My girlfriend has a MacBook Pro at her school which she connects to via ethernet. I connect to my router via wireless. The routher is connected to a DSL modem. iChat video conferencing tends to work sometimes but very rarely. I have DMZ on the router turned on as i read somewhere on these forums that it was recommended. I also have the Apple firewall turned off so my laptop is pretty much naked as far as security is concerned. Three other computers use the network One desktop PC connected directly into the router and two Apple iBooks which are connected via the wireless. The problem is that i keep getting error message -8. Can anyone please help?
    Thanks in Advance

I'd start by verifying you have the most recent firmware installed on your router.
Next, start off by trying to test to a user that has no known issues: http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/ContactTesters.html (Bottom of the page)
That will help pinpoint where the connection issue lies.
Once you can succefully connected, then you should set up a static ip address on your mac and port forward the necessary ports in your router. If you router supports UPnP, I'd try enabling the first.
    I hope this helps!

  • IOs video conferencing

Is it possible to create a video conferencing application using Adobe Air / Flex for iPhone and iPad ? There is a sample code available on the net on how to do this on Android. Does this works for iOs too ?

  • Netmeeting compatible video conferencing software for the Intel iMac?

I am currently using XMeeting V0.2, but the received video leaves a lot to be desired. The image quality, even at a slow frame rate and on a gigabit LAN, is no where near as good as on a PC running Netmeeting. In contrast, the transmitted video is perfect. I've played with the settings, but nothing seems to help. Anyone using XMeeting? If so, what settings are you using? Any other video conferencing Intel Mac software (free to cheap) I should try?

    The only one listed on
    http://www.applechat.info/
    for Netmeeting is:
    ohphoneX
Don't know if it is Intel Mac compatible.
You may also want to find out if any of the Windows solutions work well on Boot Camp or Parallel's Workstation, or Wintel Mac OS X which offer the ability to run a variety of Windows versions on Intel Macs.

  • Video conferencing & ISDN

I am waiting for my new iMAC with isight built in. Can anyone tell me whether it is possible to hook this up so I can do video conferencing to standard Polycom/Tanberg video conferencing equipment over ISDN lines?
I have ISDN 128k at home (BT Highway) and want to connect to a couple of hospital video conferencing facilities in the hospitals I work in. More or less everything is PC based in the NHS so it's no good asking anyone in the IT departments!
    Look forward to your reponses.
    Andy

    Hello Andrew,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I have never used a Poiycom video conference, but, from reports posted here, ohphoneX
    b may
be able to do what you want. See its web site for compatibility info, system requirements, and instructions.
Your Polycom/Tanberg Video Conference System Administrator will have to help you with its requirements and what and how you can connect to that system.
If you search iSight Discussions (up one level) for "ohphoneX" (without the quotation marks) you will find several links related to Polycom and other video conference systems.

  • IMac G5 to PC Video Conferencing

My children have PCs. We are trying to connect up with videoconferencing. Can't get Yahoo Messenger to work or MSN or AIM or iChat either, though I don't want to have to pay for .mac after my trial membership expires. There must be a way...or else my fancy video conferencing feature is worthless to me.

Check out this article on linking Macs and PCs via iChat and AIM:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=607443&#607443
Note, you usually can keep your screenname after your .Mac account expires. If for some reason not, iChat will accept AIM screen names too which are free.

  • Computer does not support video conferencing???

I just bought iSight for my iBook G3 on OS 10.3.9. When I turn the iSight on, it does not open iChat. When I open ichat, I can use iSight as a mic, but not for video. I opened iChat>Preferences>Video and found the message, "This computer does not support video conferencing." What does that mean? I tried the iSight on a different iBook and it works fine. System profiler recognizes the iSight plugged into the firewire port, and an iPod works in the firewire port, so the port works. I also tried iMovie>video, but no camera was found.
What do I need to do to get iSight to capture video on my iBook?

    Hello Paul,
See Apple's stated System Requirements for iChat AV 2.1.
If your G3 is too slow to work with iChat AV, you can get a work-around by installing iChatUSBCam. (Use the free trial to be sure it does what you want.) There are different versions of iChatUSBCam for Panther and Tiger, so be sure you get the correct one,
I recommend you repair permissions both
    b before AND after
doing the installation. That should get you going.

  • Stream Live Video + Audio to Apple TV - No Audio

Hello, I am trying to setup an adhoc video conferencing solution
Streaming Live Video + Audio from a lecture theatre to a breakout room in the same building
So far I have tried 3 approaches over Airplay:
1: iPad Air (8.1) (as a camera + microphone) using the built in video app to stream to a Mac Mini (Yosemite), using Reflector
2: iPad Air (8.1) (as a camera + microphone) using the built in video app to stream to an Apple TV
3: Webcam connected to a Mac Mini to stream to an Apple TV
All 3 options show the Video however I can't hear the audio
I know that the audio is working because if I record a clip and play it back you can hear the audio on the TV
Can anybody recommend some software, either for the iPad or the Mac which would allow me to transmit the Video + Audio Live?
My preference is not to use a web based system, so that all data is kept on the local network
Thank you in advance for your help
    Jeremy

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

  • Video conferencing app

I am looking for a good video conferencing app that works off Wifi for holding video conferencing between one buisness location and another. Looking for one with capabilites that include uploading a visual presentation that can be seen by those in conference, has the ability to link up with several other users so more than just two way or three way conferencing. Preferibly looking for free apps, so that they can be easily downloaded by other users but also looking for high quality so all suggestions welcome.
    Thanks

Using NetStream API it looks like is not going to be possible:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/net/NetStream.htm l
Special considerations for H.264 video in AIR 3.0 for iOS
For H.264 video, the iOS APIs for video playback accept only a URL to a file or stream. You cannot pass in a buffer of H264 video data to be decoded. Depending on your video source, pass the appropriate argument to NetStream.play() as follows:
For progressive playback: Pass the URL of the file (local or remote).
For streaming video: Pass the URL of a playlist in Apple's HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) format. This file can be hosted by any server; Flash Media Server 4.5 and higher has the advantage of being able to encode streams in HLS format.

Yes ... currently the only way to update your iPad software is through iTunes on your computer. Transfer your purchase first and you should have no worries. Read my response to this post (yours as well) and hopefully your fears will go by the wayside.
