Video Converter Compatibilty Output Codec?

Hi Gang
Yes unfortunately I'm still in 10.4 which eliminates the capability to download any type of MTS converter software which I'll need to convert PAL to NTSC.
'ClipWrap2' and others are all designed for 10.5 or 10.6
Work Around: I also use a Dell PC with Windows 7. I found a program called 'Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate' which during the trail period successfully converted a piece, (watermarked), into a QT file. I then brought it over to my G5 and was able to open and play it in QT 7.6.4
Soon as I legally paid for and registered 'Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate', the newly converted files would cause QT and Streamclip in my G5 to Crash.
I tried converting to straight up QT as well as MPEG-4, same result ....
QT Inspector Window shows:
H.264
1440X1080
AAC Stereo 48kHz
FPS: 50
Data Rate: 8.84 mbits/s
Ummmm?
Any ideas?

Solution:
Fortunately, 'Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate' also provides a setting for converting HD to SD 720X480, and a nice feature of converting to 24P, (which matches my current project).
When I exported using these settings, I was able to get QT 7.6.4 to play the files without issue, and edit in FC6.
Thank you

  • DirectShow codec required for my Video Converter

    I tried to transfer an .avi video to my V:M and it didn't let me, because the player doesn't support it, but it also says that the video converter is not able to convert it because it needs a DirectShow codec. How do I find this codec for the video converter? I already checked the version number of my converter and I have the latest one available for download here.

    This is a common problem which I have experienced myself. It seems that direct show codecs are not always licensed by the video providers. I found this with content from 7 digital. Unfortunately I haven't found a solution to it yet, other than to record the video with screen capture software such as ZDsoft.

Does anyone know how to change the quality? or better - are there any alternati've programs, which can convert video files to be compatible with my ZEN V Plus?

  • [Request] thin liquid film (ipod video converter)

    http://thinliquidfilm.org/
    thin liquid film (TLF) is an application which allows linux users to quickly and easily convert video files into a format suitable for playing on the video capable ipods. I wrote this application, after purchasing a video ipod, and being frustrated that the only real option for converting video was either via command-line, or via a servicemenu with no ability to configure the resulting video file. TLF uses the ffmpeg engine to do the encoding. It is written in pyqt, so it should work with a default kde installation, and is very easy to install.
    features ...
        *  Batch process any number of files;
        * Display detailed information about source video files;
        * Change output settings for one or many files;
        * Save default settings for future sessions;
        * Configure output quality settings;
        * Choose between mpeg4 and h264 as output codec;
        * Choose between 320 and 640 output video width, while maintaining aspect ratio;
        * Choose between 1 or 2 pass encoding;
        * Show a preview the encoded video;
        * Progress bar to show encoding progress;
        * Add pre-encoded files for transfer to the ipod;
        * Uses ffmpeg as the encoding engine;
        * Upload encoded files to your ipod directly;
        * Set file information for upload to your ipod;
        * Add files to existing or new video playlists on your ipod;
        * Add files for encoding via the included servicemenu;
    What about adding it in the AUR?
    I think it could be really usefull

  • MOD video converter

    I am new to the mac world (13" air with upgraded RAM and processor and SSD).  I bought it to play around with imovie.  However, all my video files are in MOD format.  What video converter do you recommend and what output format do you recommend?
    Thanks.
    john

    iMovie will only import files that it can edit. So we need to find out what kind of video and audio codecs are enclosed in your MP4 container.
    To do this, open your mp4 file in QuickTime Player X. Make sure it will play. If QuickTime can't play it, iMovie will not for sure. Then, still in QuickTime Player,  hold down the command key and touch the letter I. This will open the Inspector. Tell us what the inspector says, especially the information next to the word "Format".

  • HD output codec

    What's the recommended output codec to play a digital animation directly from computer to a 1366 x 768 plasma TV. The animation will be in "animation" codec and edited in FCP HD 4.5. The final video will play to the public as a continuous 3.5 minute loop and must be of the highest reasonable quality.

    The animation codec is not an HD codec...it is SD. To play out your footage, you need to either convert it to DV (yuck) and output it via firewire, or purchase a capture card (Aja, Decklink) and convert it to one of their codecs for output. 10-bit uncompressed is the best SD resolution.
    But now you are talking high speed drives and capture cards. Big bucks.
    You could also convert that to an HD codec... DVCPRO 720p, and have the ability to output via firewire, but then you need to rent the 1200HD deck that Panasonic makes.

  • Creative Zen - video converter issues

    I've been trying to convert AVIs and MKVs to view on my Creative Zen and keep running into a problem.
    No matter what settings I seem to use on any video converter, my player refuses to play the resulting WMV.
    I am encoding to as close as possible to the required specifications, making sure no bitrate, frame rate, or resolution is too high for the player, but nothing seems to want to play.
    Exactly what settings are required to convert a file to work on a Creative Zen?
    I know the Creative Video Converter works, but the time taken to convert each file is far too long.

    Hi there:
    No worries!
    Here I would like to offer you my opinions.
    First, we should have a basic information of Creative Zen. In terms of its formats supported, it generally supports AVI, WMV, MPG, MPEG-, MPEG-2 and MP4. But there are still some users feeback that it can not perfectly accept AVI. Okay, based on my own experience using video converters, I am sure that Moyea Video Converter got via Google can definitely help solve the problem.
    Step one: free download Moyea Video Converter and install it.
    Step two: load AVI and MKV files to this program, select output format as "Creative Zen-Zen Player Video (.*WMV)" from pull-down menu of Format, and then locate the destination folder.
    Step three:expand "Settings" button to enter the Profile section, in which you can easily modify resolution, Codec, size,sample rate, channels, and audio streams. (If you just want keep the original settings, you can skip this Step and directly continue Step four.)
    Step four:click "Convert" button on the main interface to begin with the conversion.
    Step four: Once the conversion above is completed, you can drag or put the converted files to ur Creative Zen or other portable devices for playback or entertainment.
    By the way, Moyea Video Converter is much easier and faster to operate. Moreover, it applies Dolby TrueHD audio technology, which can enhance the output audio effects.

  • Mini DVI to Video converter, red tinge

    I recently bought a macbook, and so far I'm very satisfied with it (aside from the heat problems, which aren't that bad imo.) A few days ago, I recieved a Mini-DVI to Video converter in the mail to use with my six-year old television. Previously, I had used my dad's aging Dell Latitude to plug into the TV to watch old television shows I have acquired from the internet. It had great quality. However, using the same connection/cable with the macbook has given less than desirable results when it comes to color quality. Where the latitude had great color, the macbook seems to be outputting a very bright, very noticeably red picture. While it doesn't bother me significantly, it's sort of annoying to see everything with a twinge of red.
    Now, I have tried calibrating the TV using the built in Mac OS utilities (on expert mode,) however this hasn't fixed the problem--the output is a little darker, but the colors are still off. The TV has had no other problems in the past; everything else that's ever been connected to the TV's S-Video connector has been perfect.
    Has anyone else ever had a problem similar to this? Like I said, it's watchable but slightly annoying when the colors are off like that (especially when you compare the macbook's screen to the TV's... The macbook is perfect while the TV has an annoying red tinge.)

    Just tried this, in fact its hooked up to my other monitor right now and i do still get the red tinge. The picture is perfect apart from this though. Its nice and sharp and clear.
    The colour does indeed come on just fine to begin with but once the monitor has done its auto adjust it drops back to the red. I've played with the display settings, different resolutions etc for both displays and still the same.
    The thing is, the mac does seem to be sending the correct signal as the monitor is initially correct. Ill try this with a CRT monitor once my battery is charged and if i can find another VGA cable in ill give that a go too.

  • Very confused Mini DVI to Video Converter - please help!

    I have a iBook G4 that I use as my home ents hub, I purchased a DVI to Video converter which worked well for about a week until one day my Mac started recognising it as a VGA adapter.
    When the adapter's plugged in the only options in the displays preferences panel are for VGA resolutions, no PAL or NTSC settings and I get a squiggly black screen on my TV.
    The adapter works perfectly well with my friend's identical iBook and on his iMac too.
    The mini DVI port on my mac works fine when hooked up to a VGA monitor.
    HELP!!!! Until I get this fixed I'm stuck watching Lost on a 12" screen, which *****.

    I have the exact same problem. For years my iBook has output happily to the tv via the Mini-VGA -> Composite/SVIDEO adaptor. Suddenly it stopped working and recognizes the adaptor as a VGA-Monitor.
    I've tried resetting the PMU, flashing the PRAM and NVRAM, "shoving" the cable into the socket, deleting com.apple.windowserver.plist files...
    Please help...

  • Converted VOB file to mpeg with Freemake Video Converter and still not able to load same file in Premiere CS6

    I have this project where I needed to change the audio part from a dvd so first tried to load VOB file but Adobe Premiere did not support VOB file so then used Freemake Video Convert tool to convert in to mpeg file so that I can import in premiere timeline. Still no success so I guess its not supported either.

    Maybe you are missing some codec. CS6 does support mpeg.

  • Video Converter for Zen SD S

    Hi all. I just bought a 4gb zen for my wife and I'm looking for a decent video converter, aside from the included Media browser one. The problem with that one is that it seems to automatically load the video onto the player (even after I unchecked the 'load to player' radio button), which isn't desired. I'd much prefer to keep the player filled with music, and load video onto an SD card separately.
    Anyone able to confirm a piece of software that works for the zen? I've tried a couple that output to WMV, but the player refuses to play them back. To confirm, video converted to WMV by the zen software (taken off the zen and then put onto the SD card) works fine.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    I own a ZV:M for myself for which I generally use DivX Converter for video, but the new Zen will only play WMV9 and MJPEG (something that a lot of digital cameras utilize... not so good for the Zen). Do WMV specific converter files from MovAVI Suite work for you, 'cause a DivX outputted file will definnitely not work for the new Zens.
    Thanks.

  • Digital Video Converter

    i'm a little confused about the difference between 'apple video adapter'
    http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore.woa/6224040/wo/WB5d0bwOOsXt2cAsU qR1RKWHU7b/3.0.19.1.0.8.25.7.11.5.3
    and a digital video converter -
    http://www.canopus.com/products/ADVC110/index.php
    i don’t want to mirror my ibooks monitor, but create an enlarged preview screen in fce
    can my ibook do this?
    i also have another problem. The Canopus converter uses firewire, and i only have one firewire port.
    To add, i want to upgrade from a usb2 external hard drive to a firewire! just because i've recently read that it will work better as a scratch disk.
    i seem to have too many devises and not enough ports.

    About the first question:
    - the Apple Video Adapter allows to use an external TV screen in place of your iBook screen. I have it but never use it since my video (iMac 20") is far better than a TV screen.
    - a Digital Video Converter, instead, converts DV video into analog video and viceversa. In your case you could plug the DV end (firewire) to your iBook and the analog end to a TV set, and use it to "Print to Video" the Canvas of FCE during editing or previewing.
    The main difference is that in the 1st case all you do on the iBook appears in the TV screen, in the 2nd case only the canvas output of FCE (or iMovie if needed).
    To edit video use the 2nd solution only; this has the advantage to show in real time, during editing, exactly the final result of your movie (colors, interlacing problems, etc.).
    You might have another option: most digital camcorders include a video converter and can be used in place of a stand alone Video Converter; if your digital camcorder allows it, use it in place of the Video Converter.
    About your second question, if you switch to a firewire external drive you should be able to daisy chain your camcorder (or digital video converter) to the external drive, so the single firewire port on the iBook should be enough. Just be careful, I know some combinations of camcorders/hard drives don't work well together when daisy chained... Not my direct experience, but I read it in these discussions.
