Video Crash itunes 8.1

After installing Itunes 8.1 I get the following crash when I try to play any Video file:> Faulting application iTunes.exe, version 8.1.0.51, time stamp 0x49b822b4, faulting module QuickTimeH264.qtx, version 7.60.92.0, time stamp 0x49628b2f, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00078ea0, process id 0x1564, application start time 0x01c9ad2d4bd68654.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Edchai,
Try downloading and installing the latest version of iTunes, currently 8.1.1.

  • Loading just about any video crashes Itunes

    Hi,
Loading tiny videos into itunes can make the program grind to a halt, and recently I've been attempting various conversions of videos (xvid avi to xvid mp4 container) to see what's the quickest way to convert media to be viewable on my 80g Video Ipod. Trying to import anything similar causes itunes to crash and I can't even end the process in windows. This grinds my system down a lot and I am required to restart due to Itunes not being "killable." Does anyone have at least a way to get Itunes to die if it crashes? I assume theres no real solution to my problem other then don't do it, until the developers implement something in the code that actually determines the codec/size of the video and decides whether or not it can import it instead of just crashing.

hmmmmm. have you checked through the following document? (in particular, with your symptoms, try the "disable ReadyBoost" and "Additional Information" sections down the bottom of the document.)
Troubleshooting iTunes for Windows Vista video playback perfomance issues

  • All video crashes Itunes.

    Running Vista.
No problems with video until the latest Itunes upgrade.
Tried the recommended fix involving Quicktime.  Quicktime will play the files but Itunes still crashes. It makes no difference what type of video file.
Tried uninstall/Install download of latest Itune version, no luck.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you..

However, went to both suggested locations looking for plugins; there are no plugins (the folders are visible and empty).
... yeah, that's consistent with other reports. In this case, Safe mode is apparently switching off something built-in to iTunes version 10.7.0.21.
Ultimately, what's required here is a bug-fix in the next version of iTunes (whenever that's going to show up). In the meantime, I'm afraid we're probably stuck with the workarounds (disabling direct3d, running iTunes in safe mode or watching the content in the QuickTime Player.

  • Videos crashing iTunes HELP!!!

I upgraded to latest iTunes and Quicktime, but when I try to preview a video iTunes crashes and closes. I bought 2 videos and they will not play in iTunes or QT. They crash either one. What is going on?

I've had the same problem and I figured it out (at least in my case). The most helpful thing I did was review the crash log right after the crash. Go to http://developer.apple.com/technotes/tn2004/tn2123.html to help with interpreting crash logs. In my case, I had installed the OSS 3D plug-in a while ago and this was responsible for the crash. Deleting the plug-in and it's preferences did the trick for me.
To summarize the Apple Tech Note for interpreting the crash log, the three most important areas are:
    1) the line entitled "Thread:" that is about 8 lines or so down from the first row of "********". This will tell you which thread crashed.
    2) the line entitled "0" in the thread that crashed. In my case, thread 0 crashed. I followed down the crash log to thread 0 and looked at line 0 which gave me an inkling of what crashed (in my case, it said com.subband.oss3d).
    3) the section entitled "Binary Images Description". Read through this for any references to whatever appears in line 0 of the crashed thread to find the directory(ies) from which the culprit must be removed. I also used Spotlight to find anything else related to the offender.
    I hope this helps.

  • Preview videos crashes itunes

When I click on a video to preview, itunes quits unexpectedly

I had the original problem of upgrading to iTunes6 and couldnt launch, only hang. Check QT7 and no dice. I upgraded my Digidesign Core Audio driver (tip from another post here) and they both work now.
Checking out new iTunes6 features revealed a new problem with sudden quits when attempting to preview videos. Im hoping this bump will spur more activity on this thread.

My pc has crashed and lost a considerable amount of music and videos from iTunes the files are still in iTunes but are empty, will iTunes Match restore my content over the cloud?

Hm ... I guess I can't edit the post above. Anyway, I seem to have solved it by ...
    Quitting iTunes.
Going into Home / Music / iTunes, and renaming the file "iTunes Library.itl" to "iTunes Library (corrupt).itl".
Entering Time Machine, and restoring the "iTunes Library.itl" file from a few days ago. I went back two days, which seemed far enough back to be "before" the problem but not far enough back to have trouble with recent acquisitions.
Re-opening iTunes - and everything seemed to be back in order.
So that's fine for now. We'll see if the solution is stable.
Very, very tentative assignment of blame: I believe iTunes crashed earlier today after I'd synced photos from my iPhone to iPhoto, and then iTunes crashed while iPhoto was closing (and taking its sweet time doing so). If that was indeed the case, that's at least the second time in the past couple of months that trying to sync iPhone photos to iPhoto has caused me significant problems. (The last time led to 80% of my iPhone suddenly being occupied by "Other", and a full restore of the darn thing.)

  • Video that appears in iTunes but not Windows Explorer crashing iTunes

I added some videos to my iTunes library today, and I tried to sync my iPod. When I connect it, I get the "Updating iPod, do not disconnect" message, but it doesn't say exactly what it's transferring. After a little while, I get the notification that iTunes is crashing and the option to send an error report.
I updated iTunes to 6.0.3 earlier today, and updated my iPod to see if that would fix anything. When it didn't, I checked to see if there was something wrong with any of the videos. I tried deleting the videos, until iTunes crashed again. Whenever I try to delete, or play, or right-click this video, it crashes. I thought that maybe there was a problem with a video, so deleting it through Windows Explorer might have some effect, so I went to where it would be stored, and . . . it wasn't there.
I know that a file being listed in the library but not actually stored in Windows would normally just result in the exclamation-point-in-a-circle icon, but could this be what's causing iTunes to crash? Is there a way to delete something from the iTunes library without actually going through iTunes?

Okay, I managed to fix it after uninstalling iTunes and installing an old version . . . but of course, after I had everything up and working again, I ended up causing it to happen again. The upside of that is that I now know how it happened and an easier way to fix it.
The corruption of the file occured when trying to type in an artist on a file whose tag I had modified with iPod TVShow . . . it said "Editting tag", then crashed for the first time, and crashed again whenever I tried to edit that. Though, I found that that can be fixed just by deleting the movie file first through Windows Explorer, and then through iTunes (I didn't see it in Windows Explorer originally because I didn't realize that the re-labeling of the artist never went through, so I looked in the wrong folder, and I wasn't able to use Show Song File in order to see where it was, what with the constant crashing). Hopefully that'll help if anybody else ends up with the same problem.

  • I try to play a video through itunes but everytime it tries it causes the software to crash with windows 7.

Has anyone had this problem?  I've tried to play a video through itunes but everytime it tries it causes the software to crash with windows 7.  I have the newest updates.

  • Videos cause iTunes to crash (Windows Vista)

Hi, I'm a new user here, although I've been using iTunes for a long time. Recently I decided to use the iTunes store to buy a video for the first time, only to find that, A.) every time I try to play the video, iTunes immediately crashes ("iTunes has stopped working",) and B.) I can't play it on any other media player other than iTunes or QuickTime, thanks to DRM, and both choke and die instead of playing the video. The video will work on my other computer with XP, (albeit choppily,) so I know there's nothing wrong with the video files.
I looked through FAQ's both on the Apple site and on Google, and followed the instructions presented, but nothing works other than reinstalling iTunes, (I tried downgrading to an earlier version, but it wouldn't let me open iTunes because it said that the library had been made for an updated version.) Reinstalling iTunes works until I restart my computer, at which point the same problem occurs again.
As per the instructions on the Apple site, I went into QuickTime in the control panel and set video to "Safe Mode (GDI Only)," but the problem persists. Disabling ReadyBoost didn't make a difference either, so I reenabled it.
I've read that storing the video files on a SATA drive can cause problems similar to this. What is a SATA drive, and is there a way for me to move it to a different drive?
Barring that, I'm afraid I'll have to find a different source for videos, one that will allow me to play them on more versatile and hardy media players.

Same problem here. Things were working fine until I upgraded to iTunes 8.1. Now, I am unable to play any .m4v video in iTunes or QT; however, I am able to play non-DRM .mp4 just fine. I believe that the issue must be codec related, but I have not identified the offender. Leave it to Apple to sell you a product that can only work on their system, but won't work on their system.
Anyone having information as to WHY I cannot play DRM that I PAID for in a program DESIGNED ONLY FOR THAT DRM, please let me know as it is appreciated.

  • Previewing video in iTunes for windows Crashes iTunes

When I try to preview a video with iTunes on my Vista machine, I get the error message "iTunes has stopped working". Any idea how to fix this?

Well found out a fix. After checking the report logs found that there was a problem with QuickTimeH264.qtx.
Carrying out a search took me here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8990251
Direct link to the fix of deleting the SC Info folder is here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389?viewlocale=en_US
After deleting the folder, then restarting iTunes, you'll get a set up progress bar which runs through. After that it will launch pulling up your library. You'll then have to re-enter your password to re-access your DRMd content.

  • Can't view videos in iTunes now

My computer, previously running on Vista, recently crashed. I backed up my data and loaded Windows 7 instead. Things are running great now, and I have downloaded iTunes 9.2. I have all my music and videos back, but I cannot watch any of the videos on iTunes. I tried renting a video from iTunes, but cannot watch that either. Every time I try, iTunes freezes. I can watch videos with Windows Media Player on my computer, and I can watch my iTunes videos on my nano. So it seems my computer and the files are both ok.
Why can't I watch videos on iTunes? I tried redownloading iTunes and updating my video drivers. Any other ideas?

I'm having a problem with videos too. The other day I tried out the iTunes Rental service, and when I went to play my movie, iTunes froze. I updated to the latest versions of iTunes/Quicktime and the problem persisted. And now I notice that ALL of my videos cause iTunes to freeze. I can't say for certain if there was a problem with all videos before I downloaded the movie, but I certainly didn't notice one before. Videos still play fine in standalone Quicktime and I checked the DirectX settings already.
    Any help appreciated.

  • Audible authorisation crashes iTunes

When I try to authorise my copy of iTunes to play my purchases, or if I try to deauthorise my computer, then iTunes crashes. iTunes plays all other audio and video files including streaming media without a problem. It is only Audible authorisation/deauthorisation that causes the crash so no Audible purchases can be played. There are no errors, it just freezes. I don't know if this is an Apple issue or an Audible issue.
    Can you help? Thank you.

Did you ever get this solved? I'm actually having the same problem. I've moved my library from old mac to new mac and everything is fine with the exception of the purchases. any time i try to migrate them into itunes, it crashes.

  • No Sound for videos on itunes

My computer crashed and I have all my files, but I am not able to hear any sound when I play video on Itunes. I can hear the music files, but no video.
    Can anyone help with this

    hi Matyz!
i've seen one or two people report that a standalone QT 7.0.4 reinstall will help with this.
let's take a few additional precautions.
download and save a copy of the standalone QT 7.0.4 installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.0.4 Standalone Installer
... any improvement after doing that?
    love, b

  • One of my ipods crashes itunes, other is ok!

Okay so my problem lies with my 160GB Ipod Classic. It worked fine on the older versions of itunes and for some reason has decided to completely break after the update. I'm running windows 8 and have just got a brand new laptop, itunes has been working fine with my (older) 4GB Ipod Nano, syncs as it should etc. but as soon as I plug in my classic it tells me there's an error and I must scan and fix, I do this and it crashes itunes entirely. I cannot click on anything, I cannot shut the window or minimize it, it's just stuck on my screen. Even when trying to shut down my computer it won't do it because it cannot shut Itunes! I have to turn it off with the button and it can't properly shut down. I have tried again and again to get it working. It works alright on disk mode where i've been able to format it and also return it to factory settings using Itunes, but as soon as it starts to reboot and connect back to itunes - it crashes again! Although it only crashes itunes and leaves the rest of my computer working fine, it's very annoying to have a broken itunes window stuck on my screen so I keep restarting it (and failing!) I feel like i've tried everything, I wish I'd never tried to sync it because it was completely fine prior with songs and videos! Now it's completely empty and useless. Can anyone help me?

You may refer to this tutorial, it's about how to fix iTunes sync problem with iPod. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.
