Video cropped with track matte changing size on export?

Hi there!   I have a layered video with a background image for sidebars.   I used a white square as a track matte to crop out some of the central video.
Now, the odd thing is that the footage is cropped more heavily in the exported file than it is in my premiere previews.
Because it's showing up perfectly fine in the previews, I'm finding it very difficult to troubleshoot the problem through trial and error.   What could be causing this discrepancy between previews and my exported footage?
Edit:  Actually, now that I'm looking at them next to each other, the colors are kind of messed up too.  Is that related?

I have apparently fixed the problem.   If anyone else happens on a similar issue, I selected the matte layer and changed it's size through the motion effect.   I shrank it down and then brought it back up to the correct size.   For some reason after that it exported correctly.   Yay!

    Thanks.

Thanks for the follow up with additional very helpful information.
What you need to do is to keyframe the Motion Scale property so that it changes over the duration of the whole photo
rather than  Scale being applied to the whole photo uniformly.
Two ways you could do the keyframing of Scale..
    a. from the Timeline
    or
    b. from Applied Effects/Applied Effects Palette/Motion Panel expanded and its Scale Property there, using Toggle Animation to initiate the process.
For now, I will describe "b"
Your scaled down image on Video Track 2
Your regular image on Video Track 1
Your Timeline Indicator at the beginning of the Timeline.
Select/Highlight the image on Video Track 2, go to Applied Effects Tab/Applied Effects Palette/Motion Panel Expanded and its Scale Property
    That area should look like
You get an abbreviated version of the above screenshot if you do not hit the Show/Hide Keyframe Controls icon. With it opened, you will see the actual keyframes being placed.
With your Timeline Indicator at the beginning of the Timeline and Video Track 2 Image selected, click on the Toggle Animation Icon. That will set the Scale property keyframes
which at that time will be at a value less than 100% because you are starting with a scaled down Video Track 2 Image.
Then move the Timeline Indicator to the last frame of the clip. Then move the Scale slider to 100% or whatever % gives you Video Track 2 Image just to full frame so
that you do not see the Video Track 1 image. Render the Timeline by pressing of the Enter key of the computer main keyboard or pressing the Render button above
    the Timeline.
All sorts of things can be done by keyframing a property. The property could be other than Scale (some examples might be Position, Opacity, certain effects applied
    to Timeline content, etc.)
Please review and consider and then let us know if that worked for you. Do not hesitate to ask for clarification if needed.
    Thank you.

  • Glitch with Track Matte Key in Premiere Pro CS5.5?

I am running into an extremely frustrating issue when using the Track Matte Key feature to mosaic license plates.  Now, in the particular scene I'm working on, the plate isn't even moving, and the process should be quite straightforward.
    What I am doing is:
    1. duplicate the clip, so it occupies Video 1 and Video 2.
    2. Create a title.  Using the pen tool, create a shape over the license plate and set it as "fill bezier." Goes in Video 3.
    3. Apply the Track Matte Key to Video 2. Set the Matte for Video 3.
    4. Apply Mosaic to Video 2.  Adjust the level so the license plate is unreadable.
    Generally, thats it.
BUT- For some reason, even though it will look perfect at first, when I come back to the clip later, sometimes, RANDOMLY, the entire clip will be mosaic, instead of only the matte area.  I double check my matte and all my settings, it all looks like it should... ithe settings are the same as the clip right next to it which is FINE. Even more mind boggling - sometimes for just a single frame, the whole clip will be mosaic, but the rest of the clip will be fine. what??
Now at first I thought this was happening because I was taking shortcuts by copying one clip from video 2 and applying the attributes to another clip, that should work as a timesaver right?  sometimes it seems to.  but I stopped taking the shortcut to see if this fixed the problem.  Nope.  Also, it seems that whenever I adjust the title clip in video 3 (make it longer, for example), this activates the bug or whatever it is.
IS this a bug or am I doing something wrong?  I am at the end of my rope.
For the record, I did somehow manage a perfectly fine sequence with multiple clips of a moving license plate.

Oh well, I ended up just having to create a new title for each clip (about 30 of them) even though the place that needed to be blurred was the same across clips, so it felt like a lot of uneccessary work.  This elminated the problem, but I don't think its a worthwhile solution to the issue.

  • Why do layer styles work with track mattes but not stencils?

I'm just wondering what's going on "under the hood."
    -- Jeff

In addition, Track Mattes work only on the single layer above the layer with the Track Matte applied not on 20 layers.
    I never said something else.
I don't agree that a stencil is a group of layers
They are. Stencils operate on comp buffers, mattes on layer buffers. It's simply tech stuff. Accept it as it is. No point in going insane over such minutia. Layer styles are pretty useless most of the time, anyway, due to how they are applied.

  • Cs4 problem with link text changing size when clicked

  • Can the arrangement of Video 7 Audio tracks be changed in Elements 11

I am accustomed to Prem. pro where the video tracks are grouped & the audio tracks are grouped in a different group on the timeline.
Can this be done in Elements 11?
    Details please.

Only to a degree. In PrE, one can display either Audio Tracks, or Video Tracks, or both, grouped as they are, with Video Tracks and Audio Tracks next to each other.
Personally, I like the PrPro layout better, as I nearly always work on Video first, and then Audio later on. However, many PrPro users beg for the PrE layout. I find it occupies a lot of real estate, and really like the separation much better.
I am going to Move this thread out to the main PrE Forum, so that others can comment, as they will likely not see it here.
    Good luck,

  • Need word with track/accept changes enabled for iPad

When is Apple going to provide a version of Word of iPad that includes track changes/accept changes like the full version of word?
This is an essential feature for editing documents.

Apple doesn't provide any version of Word - Microsoft does. Even if MS does develop and release Word for iPad, there is no guarantee that this feature will be there - I don't think any of the leading WP apps in the app store provide tracking changes.
There are two apps that allow you to access a full version of Word through remote servers - CloudOn and Desktop OnLine. They are free for now, so worth checking out.

  • CS6 static text field fonts change size on export to iOS

I've resolved my previous isue with opening my CS5.5 project in CS6 ... but now when I package the project for iOS, all of my text is slightly larger nad offset compared to what Isee in Flash Pro CS6.  I'm using Classic Text - Static Bitmap (no anti aliasing).
Are their new features with regard to Fonts that I should be aware of?
    Any ideas?

WARNING:  What you'll see here is undocumented, unsupported, could break at any time, should not be used to control critical functions like landing airplanes, yada, yada, etc., etc.  Use at your own risk -- it's up to you to make it work.  I have no recollection of ever typing this, so can't be held accountable.
Phew!  Anyway, a couple of months ago, I asked Jeffrey Friedl the same question.  His reply:
I asked for (and was given) permission to tell you:
         f:static_text {
             title = 'Visit Site',
             mouse_down = function()
                LrHttp.openUrlInBrowser( someUrl )
             end,
             [ WIN_ENV and 'adjustCursor' or 'adjust_cursor' ] = function()
                logger:debug('mouse_over handler activated')
             end,
             text_color = LrColor( 0, 0, 1 ),
    Enjoy!
When asked if I could share the information, he replied:
The permission didn't come with any restrictions, so I guess it's okay to
    spread around.
Anyway, the critical part of the code snippet that's missing is what to do in the "mouse_over handler" function.  What I did for all of my links was to call a common function that would launch an async task that would change the color of the link, then change it back after a period of time.
I passed "self" (the static_text being hovered over) to my common routine so it could keep track of the active link, and reset the previous link when the user hovers somewhere new.
Good luck, and, as Jeffrey said, Enjoy!

  • Would there be any reason for a hotspot created in InDesign to change size when exported as a SWF?

    Hello
I've got a 280-page InDesign (CS5) document with invisible buttons/ hotspots throughout which I want to export as a SWF.
Once exported, the buttons/ hotspots appear to be sized/ positioned correctly on the first dozen or so pages. Afterwards, the hotspots are consistently sized and positioned incorrectly over the buttons; so that if you were to try and click on the button, you wouldn't actually be clicking on the hotspot at all.
    Things I've tried so far:
Exporting the pages in smaller batches, rather than as a single 280-page file
Export the SWF at different sizes
Checking that the hotspost don't have any blank areas inside their boxes (in the same way you can move an image inside a picture box and have blank areas)
I've hit a wall with this – any help/ suggestions you're able to offer would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks for your time.

Thanks, but I have searched here but have not found or heard a direct answer to my question as stated above...

  • Brochure Changes Size when exported

When I a. export pages document to pdf or b. view pages doc in print preview it shrinks the actual content and gives it a huge margin on the top and left. I want the content to take up the entire 8.5 x 11 space.
I used the classic brochure template - which looks like it should be sized for 8.5x11. What to do-what to do???

    KW,
The point system is broken in the forum software. But thanks for the thought.
By the way, I love you, too. But we've got to stop meeting like this. My keystroke-capture utility is starting to get suspicious.

  • Premiere Elements 7: track matte key video effect does not work?

I want to use the track matte key video effect to fade out some cropped video clips. So I did a test:
    first track: video clip
second track: PNG file, black with white circle
third track: video clip with FX with second track (here: Video 5) and luminance
As you can see in the picture the small preview pic above the effects shows the effect like I expected: a circle with the content of the third, lowest, clip. But the large video preview shows the first clip.
    What did I do wrong?
I tested other settings and track orders. No efforts.

Bill, thanks again for your help! Good tutorial. That's what I need in principle! My try was a bit more complicated ...
But I can't help. The white area stays (see screenshot top left corner). Only some of the small blurred area around the shape shines through as I could see playing around without blurring the video clip.
    I used:
title with white (it is 100% white) shape and blur effect above
video clip with track matte effect and matte alpha on the title track, reversed (blur effect on whole clip like in the tutorial)
Rendering and export does not change anything.
    I'm feeling a bit stupid.

  • Spurious colours from RGB Curves and Track Matte...

    Hello people of the forums.
I am working on a music video.
In a couple of places in the sequence where there are two or more visible layers overlapping with top layer/s having less than 100% opacity there is some unwanted 'extra' colours appearing which can be seen in the attached image below.
In the left image the unwanted colour appears in the center above the mans head, it is grey coloured.
In the right image the unwanted colour is the red.
All blending modes are Normal. There are Track Mattes in use. There are RGB curves being used.
As a result of trying to gather pertinent information for this post I found a cure, hahaha.
For the left images situation I found that turning the RGB curves off removed the colours, so I replaced the curves with Levels and the issue went away...
So for the right images situation I added a levels below the track matte and above the RGB curves, and the issue went away, no adjustment to the levels at all... I moved the levels from between the Track Matte and the Curves and the issue reapeared.
I will post this anyway but not as a question.
    All the best
    Peter

    Hi Bill,
This is so weried I know how to do this where to point ect ect.
If i move the clip with the track matte on I get a crash.
I made a new seq and used same clip and it works. so I made a second clip next to it and it worked. I copyed those clips back to the old seq and it did not work...
It's been going on for a long time.. what do you know about seq setting with track mattes? do they only work well on some and porly on others..  all Ideas to find a answer.
answer to your above quest yes I am doing it right and why should I get a crash if I move the clip with the track matte on.
I think if we can answer that we will have fixed it.
    over to you Bill
    thanks for hanging in there.

  • Premiere Pro CS3 Glitch - Track Matte

I found a glitch this morning in Premiere Pro CS3.
I have a nested sequence on my main timeline.
On that sequence I have a track matte effect and above the nested sequence video layer is my "mask" layer.
When previewing this sequence through Premiere Pro CS3 everything looks great.
However when exporting with Adobe Media Encoder to Windows Media Format, the video in the track matte appears all off and it's not lined up the way it is on my main timeline.
I had setup this project in Premiere Pro 2 where it worked fine and I had previously exported it to MPEG2DVD format. However when exporting from CS3, all of my video clips in my nested timeline are moved and out of place - keep in mind they don't appear out of place when I play/preview the timeline in CS3.
Has anyone else encountered this glitch?

FYI - I took the same timeline and exported it to Movie -> AVI and it turned out fine.
For some reason it's getting screwed up when I export it through the Adobe Media Encoder to a Windows Media file.

  • Track Matte problems in CS4

I can't get the track matte to work throughtout the duration. It starts fine in the beginning and after 3 secs, it drops the track matte even though it is set for 22 secs, giving me a completely mosaic video afterwards. I have tried shortening the duration and using multiple copies of it back to back, but no luck.
    My set up is:
Video 3: Mattes created from Tittle in black and white
Video 2: Mosaic effect on video, referencing Video 3 as track matte in Alpha
    Video 1: No effects.
My final outcome is to mosaic specific areas of the video (defined by the Matte), with the remaining areas passes through unmosaic.
    Anyone with this duration problem?

Cut the video in track two into three pieces same length as the mattes above.
Each giving them there own track matte and mosaic effect.
