Video driver for the Satelite Pro A40

I have been to the Toshiba Support site for drivers/downloads. The graphics adapter is the Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Card.
Presently, the device manager reads: version 6.14.10.4656 dated 8/01/2006 by Microsoft Corporation XDDM.
Although I believe I've researched it properly, I am not sure that this is the most current driver update.
On a related note... It would be much more efficient if the Toshiba server were configured for users to connect and get lists of appropriate updates.
Much thanks for any guidance

May I ask you what problems youve got?
Are there any strange issues with your notebook which are related to the graphic driver?
No? So why a graphic driver is so important?
Anyway its always advisable to use the drivers from the Toshiba driver website.
If you want to use an driver from Intel page then you can do this only at your own risk.
Cheers

  • Multiple internal hard drives for the MacBook Pro. Is it possible?

Hello and greetings I am planning on purchasing my first MacBook Pro for school and travel soon. The internal storage of 256 GB SSD is not enough for me and I don't want to upgrade through the Apple website when I initially purchase my MacBook Pro. I was wondering if it's possible to install a second or possibly even third internal hard drive even if it's pretty thin.
    I was looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?nm_mc=AFC-TechBargains&cm_mmc=AFC-Tec hBargains-_-NA-_-NA-_-NA&Item=N82E16822152291

Could someone tell me if I could install these drives alongside the already installed SSD I don't want both of these hard drives installed at once. I was wondering if either one would fit inside, id rather have the Samsung one as it is has a larger capacity. So would the Samsung one fit or should I go along with the Seagate. That's even if I can install a second internal hard drive.
Will either of these drives be able to sit alongside my SSD? This laptop will be carried around with me all day for school and work and I can't afford to be using an external hard drive. I don't want to spend a lot of money on purchasing another SSD for my computer just a normal HDD is fine for me.
    Thanks In advance.

Depending upon which MacBook Pro you purchase, you may be able to put a second internal drive in it.  If the system comes with an internal optical drive, you can purchase a drive trave for your second HDD to replace the optical drive and ha ve a second drive internal in the MacBook Pro.  Be aware that some people have had issues with doing this when they have tried to put a very fast (SATA 6.0Gbps drive) into the optical bay, but not all users have this issue.I know of no way to put any additional drives inside your MBP other than that though.
As long as you are purchasing a new MBP, the bare Seagate drive you linked above should work fine, I was not able to follow your first link to say anything about it.

  • Any plan for Windows 7 64-bit Video Driver for T60?

I have Win 7 x64 installed, and I'm using the Vista video driver (which I believe is 32-bit).  I'd prefer to have a fully supported 64-bit Windows 7-qualified driver.  Is there any plan to provide one in the near future?  Thanks!

  • Need video driver for Windows 7

I installed Windows 7 Home Premium on a Presario SR-1616NX and all the drivers installed OK, but it said I needed an updated video driver for the Aero transparency feature. Anyone know where I might find it?  Thanks.

    Hi,
AMD’s DirectX 9 ATI Radeon graphics accelerators are not officially supported under Windows 7.   If the user chooses to, they can install the ATI Catalyst Windows Vista graphics driver under Windows 7.   Please be aware that none of the new Windows 7 graphics driver (WDDM 1.1) features are supported (as the Windows Vista level graphics driver is limited to WDDM 1.0 level support).  Using the ATI Catalyst Windows Vista driver under Windows 7 is not officially supported by AMD, and as such AMD will not provide any form of customer support for users running in this configuration.

  • Replacing the DVD/CD-RW drive on my Satellite Pro A40

    Hi there
Does anyone know if a Toshiba DVD/CD-RW drive with the model number SD-R2412 will be compatible with my Satellite Pro A40? If not does anyone know where i could find out? Some muggins broke the CD drive on my laptop by knocking the case off a parcel shelf. As a result i can't claim on the warranty...comes under accidental damage...bah. :-(
A friend of mine thinks the new drive may need either CSEL or M/S adjustment...what is this exactly and will i need it for a Sat Pro A40? The model number of the laptop is PSA45E-0184H-EN
    Thanks!!

    Hello
Sorry but I can not tell you which model will fit your notebook because there is no a public document about that. I know that your drive is fixed mounted and if the warranty is still valid you should not o anything alone because you can lose your warranty. I have also found a information that your unit can also use a DVD-R,-RW drive. These kinds of information have all Authorized service partners. Try to contact them. I am pretty sure that they can give you proper information about that.

  • How will an external Hard drive designed for the macbook Pro work with my White Macbook?  My  white macbook has a Firewire 400 and the G-Tech HD has a 800 to 400 compatible cable for the firewire.

I am asking this because I want the G-Tech Hard drive  says that it is designed for the macbook pro.  Yet, I want to back up faster with by using my firewire 400 which is not an option on the one designed for the white macbook that does not have a firewire (only a USB port.)  The G-Tech Hard drive comes with the 800 to 400 compatible cable and has 5400 RPM with 750 GB.  Also, I've heard that laptops with low battery (mine all the time)  won't have the power for a bus powered Hard drive (as in no ac plug in adaptor.)  Can I just plug in my laptop?  Any one know the answers from experience with this hard drive?

As far as I know, if a harddrive works with a Macpro, it should work with the Macbook: if your Macbook is low on power, plug in the AC adapter
If your Macbook has a firewire port, then it should be fine. BUt i would do somemore research first.

You will need to boot from some alternate boot device to accomplish this, if you did not initialize the drive before installing it.
If you have another Mac, you may be able to use FireWire target disk mode.
If your MacBook has a DVD reader and you have a Mac OS X Installer/Utilities DVD, such as the one that shipped with it, you can boot from that DVD, answer only the "what Language" question, and wait a quarter minute for the MenuBar to be drawn. Then examine the Utilities menu or the Installer menu and Find Disk Utility.

I agree with teh OWC sggestion above, but why must it be USB powered? I find that far more unreliable, and the low power devices slow.
I'd frankly get a good external enclosure and buy a bare drive.  But the OWC stuff is quite good - vastly better than some of the majors (WD being aprime example of stuff that's boderline quality and often not compatible)

What is the best external hard drive for the MAC Book Pro with Retina?
I was looking at WD MY PASSPORT FOR MAC and Toshiba. I want something that will work best with time capsule! Suggestions on the best external hard drive would be greatly appreciated!!!

A Time Machine backup drive should be substantially larger than the system drive.  If you have a 128 or 256 GB SSD then a 1 TB drive will suffice.  If you have a 512 GB SSD then a 2 TB drive will suffice.  As leroydouglas indicated any brand other than WD will do.
For 1 TB drives PlotinusVeritas gives some great suggestions here:

  • Better video cards for the new 8-core Mac Pro...?

I don't know a ton about video cards. I did some research and the internet says that the Nvidia GeForce GTX 295 video card is the best card out right now. Will it work in the 8-core macpro? If not, or if it's not the best, what is the best video card that will work in the 8-core macpro?
    P.S.
Does anyone know how to tell exactly whether a video card is better from another? I mean I can guess a video card at 1792MB is going to be better then one at 512MB, but I've also heard that, for example, the ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB is better then the NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512MB, and apple charges more for it so it probably is better, but all that tells me is the name of the cards, and that they are both at 512MB, so from that without any other information I would assume they're exactly the same just made by different companies, but there must be some other details that would explain why it's better right? Thanks in advance

Well I found out the Quadro FX 4800 works on it, that looks pretty good.
It's a good card, but it has a different application focus.
    What applications do you use?
Answering that helps determine what the best card is.
The 5800 is better though, will it work?
    Better, how?
    The spec's read better?
    How about real world performance?
    Benchmarks?
They are very similar in shape and such.
Shape has little to do with anything.
    The ROM is the key.
If the card is not produced as "OS X compatible", it does not have Mac ROM and cannot be used.
If there is a Mac edition that is similar (same GPU series, similar architecture) the ROM may be flashed to Mac ROM.
Especially in Geforce cards, the ability to edit ROMs and even write portions of the ROM is necessary to be able to flash a card.
    Even then, no guarantees.
Often a port on a flashed card won't work after flashing.
Seems the 5800 has a 10 bit display port, so if the card were flashable, the display port wouldn't work.
The ROM chip size of a card is also of concern.
Many cards require either a new, larger ROM chip to accept the Mac ROM (soldering), or, require a hacked, "reduced" ROM to be written to allow flash.
Invariably, there will be some feature loss with a reduced ROM, but a good hacker usually gets rid of superfluous stuff.
Cards with more VRAM than the Mac counterpart will often times lose the extra VRAM- it won't be read by OS X.
Then there is the EFI question, which often creates a final stumbling block for converting a card.
There are many pioneers who flash cards.
If a card is flashable, it has already been done.
The Quadro 4500, 4800, and 5600 have all been worked out.
As of yet, the 5800 hasn't been sussed out for flash (as far as I can find).
    Flashing the card is easy.
Finding a physically compatible card and a compatible ROM are the hard parts.
The two best retail cards for the Mac Pro are the Geforce GTX 285 and the Radeon HD 4870.

  • HT3669 Latest Mac OS Update Driver for Canon 9500 Pro causes text lines all to be printed over the first letter of the line?

Anyone know how I can 'fix' the Mac OS printer driver for the Canon 9500 Pro - all my text lines end up with the whole line being printed over the first character of the line of text when printing PDFs. It has ruined a lot of work.

    I'd try this:
Delete the current printer (reset the print system) Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
Delete all other Canon software and utilities from your computer.
Do a factory reset on your printer
Use Software Update to download the driver from Apple.
Don't reinstall any other Canon Utilities.
Make sure you don't have something mechanical stopping the paper from advancing.
If the problem is really the driver, then you could look in Gutenprint for a different driver. Gutenprint for Mac OS X

You are running Windows, so yes. I like Microsoft's built in protection and how 8.1 is 'hardened' but I also install Malwarebytes. I will not use Kaspersky anymore. But you do need something. And 8.1 is more secure than prior versions definitely but there were some major zero-day security updates on this month's "Patch Tuesday."
