Video DVI extension cord

I want to have my computer further away from my monitor than the cord allows. I can't find a DVI to DVI extension cord that will work.... need it to have a male to female configuration. Also, I can't find a coupler to use with a DVI to DVI male to male cord (which is the only kind of cord I can locate). Any suggestions?

Do you mean something like this? :

You'll want to check your card to be sure which one is right.
Can't vouch for 'em, but they've got plenty of options!

  • Mini-DVI extension cable?

Has there ever been such a thing as a mini-DVI extension cable?
I use an external monitor with my MacBook, so I have to use the mini-DVI to VGA adaptor. The problem is that I now have this big bulky VGA connector sitting on my desk just to the left of my MacBook.
I figured that I would simply go buy a mini-DVI extension cable that would allow me to get the VGA connectors off of my desk. However, I have searched all over the Internet and found that such a cable does not exist.
The only thing that comes close is a 1.8 meter Male-to-Male mini-DVI cable available from shentec.com (http://www.shentech.com/apmitomimato.html). But of course I need a Male-to-Female cable.
Since the mini-DVI connector is primarily only used by Apple, it would be nice if Apple would build and sell mini-DVI extension cables in 2 or 3 varying lengths.

    Dang...
I tried to see if CablesToGo could make a mini-DVI extension cable and this was their reply:
{quote} +"Unfortunately we cannot build a cable like that. It is an Apple proprietary connection that we cannot obtain.+
    +We apologize for any inconvenience. "+{quote}
I'll have to try some other companies...maybe newertech.com and Dynex. Anyone know of other companies that could make this cable?

I think that we all understood what you meant. If the extension cord is no longer working, then return it.
We are all trying to tell you that you can plug the power block into a standard household extension cord - using the short cord that came with the iPad - and there is no need for the extension cord that you bought.

  • Video DVI splitter

Hi, I was wondering if Mac has a video DVI splitter. I have DVI to Video Adapter for My Mac Mini, in a perfect world I would like to switch from my monitor to my TV with out having to disconnect any wires.

We have such a device in our display lab at work, but it has multiple output ports, not two, and it cost a bundle. DVI distribution boxes are AFAIK test equipment for labs and I have not seen the equivalent as a simple, two-port consumer device. Still, you might want to look around. I could be wrong and you may find one.

  • It it okay to use a powerbook G4 cord as an extension cord for my iPad?

As you know, the iPad cord for charging is VERY short, so I sometimes need to use an extension cord. I noticed that when I slide that plug piece out of the iPad cord, it had same connector as my powerbook cord which I haven't needed lately and it fits perfect. Is there any reason this can't be safely used, like maybe some voltage issue or something else I know nothing about?
    Thanks

It is safe to use the MB plug extension on the iPad wall charger. Apples make the plug thingy removable to different plugs for different countries can be used. The iPad wall charger and MB charger work on both 120 and 220 V too.

  • Can I use extension cord of macbook air and connect it to iPad charger

Can I use extension cord of macbook air and connect it to iPad charger?

  • Australian Extension Cord for Macbook Pro

I bought an extension cord with an Australian plug for my macbook pro.  On the end that connects  to the adapter it reads "2.5A 250V".  But on the plug it reads "10A 250V". Should I be wary of this?

Since you are still under warranty, call Apple Care.  Maybe they can recommend a solution.

  • Extension cord.  Travel a lot globally--based in HK.  Bought new MA that came with huge HK only 3 prong plug that is useless in most of world.  Asked to get a US-stlye 2 or 3 prong: For addl US$79+tax not avail HK. Ship from US?? Ha.

Based in HK--a very intl city.  Travel constantly thoughout Asia and N Amer for biz.  Bought MA, at new HK Apple store, that came with lg HK- 3-prong plug on thick extension cord that's useless.  Asked store for a US 2-prong cord as much easier and universal to travel with and easy to use adopters. Not available thru Apple in HK; avail in US for addl US$79+tax if I am there t pick it up or with shipping (!!) we are talking a $100 addl cord expense on top of the $1,700 cost of the MA.  Apple: get to understand the needs of your customers: they are increasingly global.  (BTW: an adapter kit that needs to be used 100% of time is NOT the answer as it just creates a Mickey-Mouse solution.)

You are not talking to Apple.  Apple does not read or respond to any posts here.  We are just users like yourself.   Here is where you should direct your comments: http://www.apple.com/feedback/

  • Can an extension cord be used in the operation of an iPad?

Can an extension cord be used in the operation of an iPad?

    VIP folder?
it's where you can put mail from people that you want to get sooner or in a singular place instead of mixed in with everything else.
If you get a lot of mail, it may be useful, if not, then just something you can ignore.

  • USB extension cord not recognizing keyboard

I bought a USB extension cord to connect my keyboard to my iMac. I plug it in and nothing. I test it on a ipod and no problem. Where am I not understanding?

How long is the USB extension cable?
Since you noticed this problem, have you shut down (powered off completely) your iMac, and then restarted?
I assume you tried connecting the keyboard directly to the iMac's port AFTER noting that the USB extension cable connection is not working. And it worked when connected directly AFTER trying it with the extension cable.

  • Power Extension Cord for G4 for use in Australia

I have the great extension cable for my G4 use in US. The extra 5-6 feet is great...I need it. I am off to Australia soon and I want the same cable except for the Australian power requirements (end).
I have been to both Apple's US and Australian site...not a trace of that cord. I searched for power cable, power cord, extension cord, battery charger...HAS Apple stopped selling them or what sort of ingenious terms does one use to find this cord?
    Help...asap.
    Thanks, --bill

If the computer end is rectangular (with a couple of bevelled corners), then it is a world standard, and you will have no trouble finding power cables in Australia. If it is a special connector (as on new iMacs), just cut the plug off the US cable and install an Australian plug. Be careful about the color codes of the wires, though, as you could electrocute yourself if you get it wrong.

  • Can I use iphone earbuds with a mac pro tower? And with an extension cord?

I also need to use an extension cable because of my standing desk (tower is on the floor). I get confused with the 2-band jack, the 3-band jack, etc. I haven't been successful using a regular, radio shack type of headphone extension cord. Salesmen give me a blank stare when I try to explain that I have iphone earbuds with a 3-band jack and that it doesn't work with a regular extension cord. It's like I'm speaking Swahili.

You can't using 4-band iPhone earphone with Mac Pro.
You need to get 3-band earphone and extension cable.
I've been using iPod shuffle's earphone with extension cable osn it works well.
