Video Embedding?

Hey there,
I just had a quick question about how exactly the video embedding works.
I'm currently making an eBook, and am seriously considering purchasing the Pro version of acrobat 9 (or pre-ordering x). With that said, would I need to include the video file itself in the folder when I distribute the PDF that I create? Or will the Embed process make it so that I can just give them the PDF, and that's it?
Also, I've looked all over the Adobe website and haven't been able to find this answer: when is Acrobat X Pro scheduled for release?

You'll need Acrobat 9 Pro Extended to add multimedia/rich media to PDF.

Adobe Reader for Android to play video embedded in a PDF document.

I am a medical teacher. A large part of my teaching is technical and skills based and I have a lot of teaching video material. I distribute my material to my students as PDF documents with embedded videos. They can presently only read this on their PCs. It would be wonderful if I could place that material in a 7 inch Android tablet in their coat pockets. They could review a "how to" video and text immediately before perfoming a medical procedure. It is so easy and fast to prepare a Word text document, convert it to PDF embedded with a simple cropped video clip. Also the original word document can be updated in moments and be converted into a fresh PDF with video in a minute later to replace the one on the student computer or tablet whenever. This makes the teaching material a living text easy to keep permanently up to date. To date I have not managed to find an eReader or Tablet that that I could play an video embedded in a PDF document. The problem is Adobe Reader for Android doesn't do this. Does anyone know of any other easy way to produce documents with embedded video that can also be read on a pocket size tablet or eReader? Is Adobe going to upgrade Adobe Reader for Android to this ability sometime? Is there any other PDF reading app that can play embedded video?

How to convert/download videos embedded with cold fusion?

Does anyone know of a free video conversion software that will convert and download online videos embedded with cold fusion ("cfmid=?") format/extension? I tried a few online sites and they do not support that format yet. Please help. Thank you so much!

Actually COLD FUSION was a hoax a few years ago. COLDFUSION is the app.
If you need content from a web site, talk to the developer.
fwiw - Since ColdFusion is an Adobe app, you should try asking your question on that forum. This one is here to primarily support Shake.

Ghost image of a video embedded in a tabbed panel (preview mode)

What am I doing wrong?
Am using a tabbed Widget (3 tabs): the first tab with a picture gallery widget (simplest form). Tabs 2 and 3 with 1 HTML embedded youTube video on each tabbed panel. Everything was coming together great and when I previewed the page everything worked as it should. That was last week I think. Have been cleaning up details on the site for a couple of days.
Today I was checking the tab widgets suddenly instead of the one video on the panel, I had a second identical one floating on the upper left side of the page. I worked on the problem for a while, coming at last to deleting the HTML video rectangles, and discovered I STILL had the extra video floating up left, even when the original was gone!
After much hair-tearing, hand-wringing and wild experiments, I deleted the page and started from scratch, checking the preview after every move to see if anything strange was happening. Everything was fine until I copied the embed code from youTube and pasted it on the page. The rectangle appeared as it should, I centered it in the panel and previewed .... PHOOEY!! there was
the floating extra video up left, invisible until I previewed. At this point deleting the main video deletes the "ghost" as well, but of course thats not a solution.

Oh yeah, and when I insert the HTML for the second video embedding the "ghost" follows suit. The one floating on the left matches whichever video is visible on the widget .Also important to mention is that in the previewed page, the "ghost" video is not active, not live, does not react to the mouse.
And now I discover that as I go to another window (to write this) and then return to Muse, the "ghost" video has disappeared, but it always comes again when I preview the page.
Anyone got a suggestion???? PLEASE????

I call down blessings on you, you wonderful people! That worked, Zack! Now I just have to store that somewhere I can always find it and remember to use it! I can't say I understand it at all. My default browser is Firefox but I have no idea what browser (if any) Muse uses for previews, and Chrome is also on my PC although I seldom use it.
Furthermore, compare the first photo I posted of the HTML object in Design mode with this one
See the difference on the HTML object? This is also Design view, but instead of showing an anonymous black rectangle, it now has the video title and the start arrow - in Design mode!! Go figure. Now I'll try to finish up the site at last and see how everything works.
I'd cross my fingers -- but it makes it too hard to use the mouse.

ClickToPlugin works great. It blocks all of those things and you can click to let them run. You can also whitelist sites that you want to play automatically.

The Facebook link to the video is accessing an Adobe Flash video. Unfortunately, no iOS devices can play flash.

I looked at KB25882 and my settings are good, so that didn't help.
I had this problem over a year ago, and someone at RIM found a bit set that shouldn't have been set and fixed it (that is my terminology for what happened).
I am really looking for a way to contact RIM directly. I hate going through the mill with my carrier to get it escalated to RIM for resolution...... <sigh>

Video embeds show up as empty black squares

In firefox 27, 28, and nightly youtube embeds frequently show up as blank black squares. I cannot even right click them to inspect the iframe containing the video. No controls whatsoever are available. Safe mode does not change this behavior. Disabling the Shockwave Flash plugin causes the videos to load correctly as html5 video. Flash youtube embeds work fine in IE11 and chrome.
Ex: the 4th and 5th video embedded in this page http://lajollacreative.com/blog.html are blank while the first 3 load fine and appear to be using the html5 player.
Edit: If I go to http://lajollacreative.com/blog.html and modify the URL in the iframes of the offending videos to remove the "http:" or "https:" the video loads correctly. It seems that flash youtube embeds are broken in firefox if the URL is prefixed with "http:" or "https:"

The pattern I see is a problem with the videos in iframes that use a secure (HTTPS) URL. The player loads into the iframe, but the media never loads.
You can extract the iframe src URLs and display them above the iframes for diagnosis using a little snippet of script.
Open Firefox's Web Console below the page by pressing Ctrl+Shift+k. Then paste the following next to the caret (») and press Enter to run it:

Trouble playing .MP4 video embedded in html5 in UIWebview

i have html5 files offline with .mp4 video embedded into it. When i load this html5 file into uiwebview, video does not play.

The issue is with the iOS 5 and if you try to play the video in iOS 6 it will solve the problem

Vimeo video embeds

I've posted Vimeo video embeds on our page, after using Brightcove for a while-worked fine. Now, with Vimeo only one, of 11 total videos on the site plays. I just did standard HTML snippets in a box on each page. A Vimeo told me, "I'm told that basically you have another HTML layer on top of the player. It's like you have a piece of glass on top, so you can't click the button below. You'll need to get someone to look at your page and make some fixes" Does his make sense to anyone and any ideas on a fix? Here's the page: www.ellensburg-video.com

I don't know if you solved this problem but I had this issue today. I solved it by making sure the html snippet/video was in front of all the other layers and it worked fine once I republished the page.

Flash videos embedded in Facebook don't appear when played

My computer is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Internet Explorer 11, and Adobe Flash Player 14.0.0.145. I have Microsoft Security Essentials and an activated copy of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware protecting me from viruses and malware, and my IT department confirms that there is no malware infection playing a role here.
I am, however, having an odd and very frustrating problem with playing all Adobe Flash videos which are embedded inside of Facebook.com, including those which are shared from YouTube. Opening the same YouTube video in YouTube.com does not produce the same behavior - YouTube videos ALWAYS play fine on YouTube.com (whether embedded or full-screen), but NEVER play fine when they are embedded inside of a Facebook post.
NOTE: The same videos work EXACTLY AS EXPECTED in Firefox and Google Chrome, so this seems to be an IE-specific issue. This started back when I was running IE10 and has continued over into IE11.
Here is what happens in both Internet Explorer 10 and 11:
In my Facebook news feed, I locate a video I would like to watch. Before pressing Play, I see a still shot from the video with the Play icon transposed on top of the picture.
I click the Play icon to play the video in Facebook's embedded mode (where I can see other news feed messages above and below the video).
The picture disappears and turns to white (no borders, just white). Along the bottom edge of the video is a bar containing the play/pause, volume, maximize, etc. buttons. Behind these buttons I can see a faded-yet-moving view of the bottom edge of the video, but the rest of the video area is completely white.
I hear the audio playing, even though I can't see any picture other than that lower edge I just described.
If I click the maximize button at the bottom right edge of the video, the video opens to fill the screen and the video picture suddenly appears and runs as expected.
If I press ESC to get out of maximize view, the embedded Facebook screen (with the video again back to the news feed context) returns, but the picture goes white again just as in step 3, with the audio still playing as in step 4.
Right clicking on the offending video brings up a drop-down menu indicating that the video is using Adobe Flash Player 14.0.0.145.
Other videos shared in Facebook, like those from vimeo.com, play without any problem in the same Facebook.com news feed view, regardless of whether they are in embedded or in full-screen mode. Only videos using Adobe Flash Player seem affected here.
I have tried the following:
Uninstalled Adobe Flash Player. Reboot. Open Facebook.com, find the video in the news feed, which indicates that Adobe Flash must be installed. Click the link provided and install Adobe Flash from adobe.com. Return to the video in my news feed on facebook.com and click play. Same behavior as described above - no change.
Added facebook.com and youtube.com to my Trusted Sites list. No change.
Added facebook.com and youtube.com to IE's compatibility view, exited all instances of the browser, reopened. No change.
Checked for unusual browser add-ons - none found.
Cleared web cache, deleted cookies, reset browsers to default settings and default advanced settings - no change
Checked Windows Updates - all updates are current.
Ran full scans of Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes. No malware or issues found. No issues found with roguekiller, adwcleaner, and other malware-related tools either.
Any suggestions for me here? I'd really just like to click Play and see the embedded video like everybody else can. FYI, all other computers (running Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8) on my network play these same videos in IE9, IE10, and IE11 without the problems I'm having with this one. I'd sure appreciate any help you can offer!

Not that the moment. It's not ideal, but you have two working options, which is better than none.
In all likelihood, the content providers are going to have to change code to accommodate IE11 and higher. I spent a bunch of time this week reviewing some technical guidance that we're putting together for developers, but the long and short of it is that IE wants to developers to stop writing code that handles IE differently than other browsers.
IE has a history of not exactly working like other browsers, and for a multitude of reasons (including how JavaScript and Flash communicate to each other), developers as a standard practice wrote a lot of code to specifically handle these quirks in IE.
To get out of this impossible position where they want markup to be the same for all browsers, but having all of this code targeted specifically at IE because of the long legacy of being problematic for web developers, IE masquerades as something else and disables features like conditional comments that allowed code to target IE.
The net result is that a lot of stuff is broken in IE11. We're working closely with Microsoft to be good partners and help them through this transition with a few technical changes on our end, but developers are going to have to change their code and/or update the underlying libraries all over the web. This is not going to happen overnight. Big content providers with more resources will probably move faster than smaller sites with less developers, but it's going to be months or years before all of this shakes out.

How do I stop a weird dialogue box from popping up whenever there is a youtube video embedded on a page?

Since upgrading to 10.10.3, I keep getting a dialogue box that asks me to choose an application or search the app store for some purportedly missing app to open whatever video is embedded on that page. I can just click "cancel" to skip through it, but it really slows me down and is annoyingly unnecessary since videos continue to play in a normal fashion when I click on them. I've tried uninstalling and trashing the components of Flash, but the dialogue boxes continue. And I've also tried downloading and installing the latest version of Flash to see if that was the problem, but no success. Anybody else experiencing this? Clearly this was introduced by the latest OS X software upgrade, because this did not occur before that.

I don't understand why I (not a power user) should have to go through this whole rigamarole since Apple is apparently the culprit in introducing this problem to my system, due to the upgrade to 10.10.3, but here it is:

Since upgrading to 10.10.3, I’m getting pop-up dialogue boxes on pages with embedded videos telling me that the app I need to view the video is missing and that I should search the MacApp store to find what I need (which is actually nothing at all). I have to click cancel to continue and the videos can be viewed as normally. This only started with the latest Mac version of OS X, and I blame the problem on Apple, which has apparently introduced some error into my system.

How can I have small video embeds play full screen?

I have a design with embedded videos (pulling from my photo album).
In the design they fit inside other elements, often at a reduced size.
When I tap them in a presentation, I'd like them to go full screed instead of playing at their "native" embed size.
Tap, full screen play, tap, return to page and pause.
Much like a website does in a "lightbox" mode.
Is this possible?

Video embedded in picture frame on wal

Need advise on which After Effect plugin to use which will enable video to be embedded into a picture frame on a wall where the frame and the video would get larger or smaller depending if you walk towards or away from the object.
I am trying to create a video montage using after effects and adobe premier pro. I am trying to create the effect of walking down a hallway and having video clips of a person life a picture frames on the walls on each side of the hallway. As you walk towards each picture frame, the frame would get larger and the video clip inside would get larger as well. In order to accomplish this, I thought that I needed to take video walking down a long hallway panning the camera from side to side. I would then use after effects to create a picture frame and insert it into the video. I want that frame to increase or decrease in size depending upon if I am walking to or from it. I also want the video insert to also increase or decrease in size the same time as the picture frame. My question is, can I do all this using Adobe After Effects? If so how? If not, is there a 3rd party plugin for After Effects that will allow me to create this effect.

You have the tool you need: After Effects. But there is no way to give you a step-by-step description of what you need to do in a simple forum post.
There are no plugins that will do this task for you. You have to learn the application -- you can't just jump in and start creating. You'll fail. People have tried to do that, and they've eventually done what almost every AE user has to do.
