Video encoding failed, audio encoding successful, both worked before

I have an .AVI that was provided by a studio.  I used this .AVI in the past (February-ish) to create a .FLV using Media Encoder with no issues.  I have to add a section to the original .AVI now.  When i import the video to the new project, the preview monitor does not show video, but the audio can be heard.  When trying to export as an .FLV it errors out and just says "Encoding Failed: Unknown Error".
I can export the audio fine, but the video causes the error (when separated).  Thinking it was a corrupt file, I obtained original copies from the studio and tried again with no success.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

  • Expression Encoder failed to encode HD video to HD

Hi, its one of my first time using this program so I might of used it wrong, forgive me for this. Hope you guys would read this and help me.
SO the issue I am experiencing is that, the video I uploaded to Encoder is
HD and once I've done editing the video using Encoder (Adding Overlay), I pressed the 'Encode' button. It finished encoding and I checked the output folder for the edited video, but to my dismay,
the edited video has poor quality but still retains the edited aspects.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Anyone?

    Hello
Basically what I was trying to do was install a Clawhammer 3700+ with a Tuniq Tower 120 Heatsink. The system worked fine with the previous 3000+. After the installation the system powered on but there was no video (There is a slight blip when powered on though, indicating a connection.) and the ram LED's indicated that the system didn't enter post, or didn't post properly. The D-Bracket also hangs at the "Early Chipset Initialization" phase. I then removed the new processor/heatsink and put the 3000 back in but the boot failure still remained unchanged(No change in LED.). I made no other changes to the system other than the processor.
I should probably mention that I didn't clear CMOS before doing this because I didn't think it to be an issue. Also, several of the bios settings were changed from their defaults. Dynamic Overclocking was enabled at 5%, no other overclock settings were adjusted other than that.
I've looked on the internet for solutions and tried most of them but they haven't worked.
-Ram- Did the whole ram test thing, switched positions, tried just 1, etc. Ram worked before anyway. Also substited it with confirmed working lower quality ram so latency doesn't seem to be the issue. The LED's show activity for about 10 seconds, then it goes silent. This activity is completely different from the usual boot sequence. (LED's are great for diagnosing.)
-Video Card- Tried pulling it out and booting. No change.
-Power supply- Shouldn't be an issue, even though I have a lot of drives it still worked before. Did powering up with the new processor push it over the edge and did something permanent? I doubt it.
-Motherboard- My case is made entirely out of acrylic plastic. Screws are screwed into all spacers. Some of the spacers on one side didn't quite line up but I don't think they are off position enough to be touching anthing major. There appears to be what looks like a tiny ring of sodder joints around each spacer hole. The spacer may be touching this in a couple spots, would that be a problem?
-Processor- The 3700+ was bought off Ebay and I have no way of testing it here, however the 3000+ did work before, and that's what's installed now. Since the LED's show activity, Doesn't that indicate that both ram and processor are working?
One thing about the heatsink that I might should mention is that I screwed the bolts on pretty tight, mabye too tight. Perhaps the motherboard was damaged in some way. But still, LED's indicate that somethings working.
I'm not sure what to do at this point, any idea's would be appreciated. Keep in mind though that I have NO video, no keyboard control, no BIOS access, no control of any kind.
    Thanks

you say you cannot test the cpu, but that you did set the old cpu in another board -> that makes testing possible, or am I missing something?
I only have just that motherboard with no extra components to assemble a complete computer. Although I suppose I could take parts from the main one to do so. The more important issue is why the previous 3000 isn't working.

Then: did you apply thermal greace in the right way?
Are you sure you install the cpu's like you should? (You probably are, just asking...)
Match the gold and black arrow, hold down cpu with light pressure while closing ZIF socket. I think so.
It was my first time using thermal grease but I think I got it right. Thin film evenly distributed, move heatsink slightly to eliminate air pockets.

    Try some other RAM.
I did. Some kind of generic 512 DDR confirmed working on a non-754 computer.
I didn't notice any apparant signs of damage on or near the ZIF socket. Would it be worth attempting to remove the backplate and check behind it? It'll be pretty inconvient to get to it, and probably even more so to get it off.

Test both processors in both boards.
    Will do...

I have used this software for some time now without difficulty. Recently it has failed to translate, even though it appears to be processing the information. I've updated, reinstalled, powered off-and-on, etc. Nothing triggers correct operation.

Thanks Oliver. I uninstalled the application and then
uninstalled AIR 1.1. I then re-installed AIR 1.1 and attemped to
re-install the application. The error is still happening. Here is

  • Having issues playing videos texted to me.  They always worked before.

I was always able to play videos texted to be, but for some reason all I get now is "This movie could not be played".  It will not play even when sent from another Iphone.  Anyone have any ideas?

Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and system full control to this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.

  • WMV3Server plays avi files containing WMV3/9 video and MP3 audio

    WMV3Server
To play avi files with WMV3/9 video and MP3 audio encoding on Mac OS X as of 2005-01-24 you will need:
Mac OS X 10.2 or later
    WMV3Server
Windows Media Player 9 for Mac OS X
An .avi file containing WMV3 video and MP3 audio.
    Instructions:
Launch the WMV3Server java application and click the "Open" button.
A standard open-dialog window appears. Either navigate to the avi video file or drag the file into the open window to have the window switch to the folder that contains the avi video file. Select the file and click the "Open" button or press return on the keyboard. The open-dialog window should close.
Next, click the "Start" button. The movie will be cached and WMV3Server will display "Server Started"
Open Windows Media Player 9 for Mac OS X. Pull down the "File" menu on the menu bar at the top of the screen and select "Open URL..." Enter the following address:
    mmst://localhost:1755/
Windows Media Player should connect, buffer and play.
The download page (in Japanese) for WMV3Server is here:
    http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Bay/8128/
    The download link is:
    http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Bay/8128/WMV3Server-0.4.zip

Update: By playing around with the settings in the Default Applications preference pane (a free download) I somehow got the files to open automatically in QuickTime Player (with Flip4Mac WMV 2.0.1 installed) and they now play (instead of showing white video as they had previously. Unfortunately, I don't recall what I changed.
Here's a sample file (apparently a beer commercial.):

  • Having a problem streaming video, but not audio, from Amazon Prime through Apple TV.

I get the audio fine, but no picture when using AirPlay for Amazon Instant Video from iPhone or iPad. It worked before. I have AirPort Extreme and great connectivity.

The app likely does not support AirPlay... contact Amazon and find out.

  • MPEG2 encoding fails, but MPEG2 DVD and MPEG2 Blu-ray works

    Hey friends,
Every time I try to export with the standalone MPEG2 format option in Premiere Pro CS4 the file comes out empty (0 bytes) and both Windows Media Player 11 and Adobe Encore 4.0.1 say that my machine lacks the necessary codec to play the file (although, I'm thinking that this message is popping up really just because the file is empty/corrupted. I'm running on Vista SP1). Nevertheless, if I export to the MPEG2 Blu-Ray format with not too dissimilar values, everything works fine. The MPEG2 DVD format also works, granted that's lower bitrate and resolution. So, what gives? Could it have something to do with the audio?
My source files are NTSC 29.97fps HDV 1080i .mpeg files, captured from DV tape.
Here are the settings I'm using with the regular MPEG2 encoding (which fails as mentioned):
NTSC, 1440x1080i, 29.97fps, 18.50 max Mbps, 48kHz MPEG audio, which gives me a final file extension of .mpg
And the settings for the MPEG2 Blu-Ray encoding (which works perfectly):
NTSC, 1440x1080i, 29.97fps, 30.00 max Mbps, 48kHZ PCM audio, which gives me a final file extension of .m2v with a separate .wav audio file
Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Did I just completely miss the boat on some well known MPEG2 audio encoding issue or something?
Oh, and my system is Core 2 Duo 3.33 Ghz 4 gigs of ram gigantic harddrive, etc. I'm fairly certain this isn't a hardware issue. The source files playback without hesitation and the rendering time is not overly long.

Since the destination is DVD, don't waste the time or resources to encode at HDV frame sizes. It will just have to be encoded again so that it will fit the standard def DVD frame size. Re-transcoding will significantly reduce final quality.
    NTSC DVD:
    720x480 with a PAR of 0.9
    29.97 fps
"Best Practices" would dictate elementary (separate) video and audio streams (.m2v and .wav). Avoid multiplexed .mpg files.
"Easiest Practices" would dictate exporting from Premiere as an .avi file and letting Encore handle the transcoding automatically.

If you are trying to dump the audio from a youtube video with ffmpeg, and encode it to .mp3, troubleshoot what isn't working the way you wish.
Start by seeing if youtube-dl is working.
You can get the formats the video is available in with:
    youtube-dl -F http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=123456789
You can usually get audio only using
    youtube-dl -f 140 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=123456789
That will be .aac or .m4a audio
You can leave it like that or to reencode to .mp3
    Check if ffmpeg is working.
    ffmpeg -i file.m4a -c:a libmp3lame -b:a 128k Oufile.mp3
Or if you have a video file that you want to dump the audio from into .mp3
    ffmpeg -i file.mp4 -vn -c:a libmp3lame -b:a 128k Outfile.mp3
If you get an error about lame then check if lame is installed
    pacman -Ss lame
Post if ffmpeg works ok for you.

  • IDVD failing to encode audio

Help ! I am making a DVD for the high school baseball team and the banquet is next week. I did the same thing 2 years ago without incident. My iMovie is a slideshow of digital photos set to music. When transferring to iDVD, it encodes the menu, encodes the video (takes 2 hours) and then fails to encode the audio. The colored circle spins for a few minutes. The burn circle stops spinning. My laptop (Powerbook G4) spits out the DVD disc blank. I tried taking off all songs expect one that I used 2 years ago without incident. Did not work either. I am very very disappointed. The kids were going to love this. Any ideas ? If worst case scenario occurs, is there someplace (I live in Ann Arbor) I can take the iMovie file to and have them make a DVD ? Any advice is greatly appreciated. I am working with iMovie 5 and iDVD 5. Will it help to upgrade to ILife 06 ? Thanks

I only have 1.21 GB at this time because I
transferred the iMovie to my laptop. Having said
that, the reason I put it on my laptop is that I made
the iMovie on an external hard drive with over 300
GB. The problem first occurred on the external hard
drive (Western Digital). I thought moving it to my
laptop might make a difference. It did not.
iDVD needs to use your start-up hard drive for many things when creating a DVD. You need to freeup at least 10 GB (15 or 20 would be better) for things to work.
My son plays for Huron. We split with Pioneer. I live in A2
but went to ND. Are you still willing to help me ?
Certainly - but since I live near Rochester, NY all I can do is offer written support here in the Forum
Just as a general rule of thumb, OS-X needs something like 10 to 15% of your drive kept free of OS use. So if you have a 60 GB drive, you will need something like 6 GB free JUST FOR THE OS! That's why I said you need to freeup about 10 to 20 GB.
The problem first occurred on the external hard drive (Western Digital)
What is the format on this drive? They usually ship with a Windows format and need to be reformatted to a Mac format to work well with all things Mac OS-X.

  • Encoding .MOV audio/video skew problem

Just started using PRE 8.0 and am running into problem encoding into QuickTime format only.  The QT encoder fails to synchronize the audio and video tracks.  Encoding an hour long single source video (MPEG SVCD format), the 2 tracks become offset by about 20 seconds.
I suspect this could be due to a rounding error in frame rate calculations during the conversion, so that the converted video stream slows down with respect to the audio (or vice versa).  As this issue only occurs when created QT format, and not when creating Flash, DVD, or windows media files, it is less likely an issue with the source video.
    Thanks for any help/insight

This often happens when you use MPEGs as source files. Particularly if they were originally DVDs or VCDs.
We recommend converting the files to DV-AVIs before you bring them into Premiere Elements. That will solve your problem. You can do this with MPEG Streamclip, per the FAQs to the right of this forum.

  • Can't get Encoded Digital Audio to work with HDMI again

I like to connect my 15" Retina Macbook to my Pioneer VSX-1121-K receiver using a high speed HDMI cable (high speed for 3D). My sound settings for a long time have been very reliable; in Audio Midi Setup I had the HDMI output set to 48 kHz + "Encoded Digital Audio" and had no major issues. My encoded Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 signals were being passed through to the Pioneer receiver just fine.
So then I got Mavericks recently and everything seemed fine for a couple of days; when suddenly, Audio Midi Setup decided it never wants to allow the "Encoded Digital Audio" format to work.
I select VSX-1121 under System Preferences/Sound, but only get the standard blah PCM over the HDMI. Here's the weird part I don't understand: when I go to Audio Midi Setup and change the format from "2ch-24bit Integer" to "Encoded Digital Audio", it automatically switches the sound to Built-In Output and doesn't budge when I tell it to use the HDMI output.
I tried changing the sound effects & alerts to the Pioneer and back to Built-In Output, but that didn't affect anything. I've tried restarting, disconnecting the HDMI and plugging it back in, turning the receiver off/on, turning HDMI Control off/on, tried a different HDMI cable and receiver input -- all no dice.
It won't let me select 96 kHz for the HDMI either. What up with that? I was fooling around with FLACs in 192 and 96 kHz about a month ago with no problems whatsoever, and playing 5.1 DVDs without any of this weirdness. If it's somehow Mavericks' fault I want a big fat patch on this.
Other details: receiver's connected to a Panasonic VT30 that I use as a second screen with the Macbook for movies and stuff. Also have a current model AppleTV connected. I assume they're both not affecting anything.
Any solutions or insights would be appreciated.

I had a similar problem. Took me a while to figure out, but the problem was in the HDMI settings in the receiver, NOT the software.
    My setup:
Macbook Air > Mini Display Port to HDMI converter into Onkyo Receiver > HDMI Out of Onkyo into Panasonic TV.
    Symptoms:
I was getting stereo fine, but not 5.1 (options grayed out etc). You were on the right track; I unplugged the TV which opened up all the multi channel options for HDMI. Turns out the HDMI out settings in the receiver were set to pass Audio to the TV. So the Audio Device Settings on my Mac viewed the TV as the destination device. But as the TV only supports stereo, that's all I could select through Audio Device Settings and VLC etc.
    Solution:
On the receiver I went to Setup > Hardware Settings > HDMI and switched the audio off for HDMI Out. Now the Mac sees the receiver as the final destination and I can select HDMI (Encoded Output) etc. from VLC. That sends proper Dolby Digital 5.1 etc. nicely.
    Note:
I can select all the multi channel options for HDMI in Audio Devices Settings (as supported by my Onkyo Receiver), but I just left mine at 2ch-24 bit. Seems as long as you select Encoded Output in VLC it will send 5.1 perfectly and no issues with regular stereo playback for music.
