Video Error importing into DVD SP

I am trying to get a project burned to DVD. This is the first time I've use DVD studio Pro. I had the Menu created and everything looked good. When I went to render it, it said my bit-rate was too high... so I re-compressed my source video at a lower bit-rate and imported it into DVD SP to replace the original Asset. It seemed to work, but now all I can see is the last 5 min. of the video... the first 25 min. of it is just a black screen.
I opened the m2v file in quicktime, and it looked fine... so the problem is not with the compressed video, it's something to do with how DVD SP is importing it
Any ideas of what could be wrong?

did you remove the video from the track and deleted the asset from the browser?

  • Do I need to compress video before importing into DVD SP?

    Hello,
this is probably stupid question, but I would like to know, if I need to compress my video before I import it into DVD SP as an asset. It looks like everyone use Compressor before importing into DVD SP, (setting up number of passes, bit rates and so on), and then they do it again when setting up preferences in DVD SP. (setting 1 pass or 2passes, bit rate values)
So is not the video actually compressed twice? Once in Compressor and once in DVD SP?
And also, what video formats are actually OK to import into DVD SP? (QT, AVI, FCP movie, etc)
Does DVD SP take them all, or does it only have to be QT?
Thank you and I appologize for these novice questions.

m2v will not be recompressed when placed on tracks (though in some instances it may recompress on menus.) Ultimately it is better to compress outside of DVD SP for control of encodes (and making AC3 files) and also some formats may not be supported by importing into DVD SP directly.

  • Error importing into DVD Studio-"cannot import PAL asset into NTSC project"

I get this message after exporting from FCP the following in Quicktime:
    HDV-1080i60 or HDV-1080i50
Are these PAL formats? If so, how do I export HDV in NTSC?
    Many thanks

i60 is NTSC and i50 is PAL
You may want to just export them as 10 bit uncompressed (or 8 bit if less room) and encode in Compressor (quicker than HDV) or export as HDV and compress in Compressor or send from FCP to Compressor.
Exporting as uncompressed gives good results and seems to be the quickest on encodes

  • Not all videos will import into iphoto...

    hi,
i cannot get all my videos to import into iphoto 09. the process stops with an error "there was an error importing Photo".
what is causing this and is there a workaround?
    please advise.
    thank you.

    hi,
ty, i will give your suggestion a try.
also, i solved the problem by resetting the phone. hold down the sleep-switch and home button together for 10sec and then when you get the quit screen keep holding down the two buttons together.
    this also solved the problem..

  • AAC audio file increase in size when imported into DVD Studio Pro

    Hello all!
I just encountered a very unique issue with the DVD Studio Pro. I used the compressor to export my video as an MPEG2 file and my audio as AAC file. After the compression my audio file had an .mpg4 extention and was about 160MB in size. When I imported it into my DVD Studio Pro project, however, the audio increased in size to 1.2 GB. I tried so many different compressions, but the problem really is (I think) that the file bumps up in size once imported into DVD SP project. Is there anything in preferences that I need to adjust or change? Please help!
    Thank you.

    Hi
I'm a little lost now with versions history, but if you have A.Pack in your App folder, then must use it. Check this tutorial: Encoding AC3 with A.Pack.
Compressor 2 and 3 has AC3 encoding inside the main application.

  • Text looks horrible and blocky when imported into DVD SP

Why is it that all my text looks terrible when I import it from Photoshop into DVD Studio Pro for a still menu? The font size is 20pt, and the text type is Franklin Gothic, a sans serif Helvetica variation that is extremely simple and basic. Why does it look so bad? Is it the layers? The field dominance? The pixel aspect ratio? I've asked around and many people simply say "dvd studio pro does that sometimes." What? That's not seriously the bottom line is it? What if I don't want to redesign my whole menu?
I posted an example of how the text looks...

Thanks for any help you could give me!

Try this one...there isn't a solution, it is a confirmed bug in the software. Check out the thread above, I included an e-mail address and issue i.d. so you can write a message letting them know that I'm not the only one having this problem...
The same issue affects the normal way of creating slideshows as well as still menus. The workaround is to create a menu that loops at around :30. However, at the loop point the text will go jagged for a second while it loops back to the beginning. So, it's not a perfect workaround.

  • Audio synched on Quicktime videos until imported into Premiere Pro CS5

I have Quicktime HD footage that has been cut into several QT videos that works perfectly (in the QT player) before it is imported into PP. Once I import the videos the audio is slightly off at the beginning of the timeline and continues to get worse throughout the project.
I have tried clearing my media cache and reimporting the videos and have not found anything that works.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Unfortunately, I do not have any suggestions there, but perhaps others will.
I use the MainConcept H.264, but have to admit that I do not do that much work to H.264.
Good luck, and I am sure that others will have just what you need,

  • Elements 10  - How do I get video media imported into the timeline to be visible?

When any video media is imported into Premiere elements 10 I get a white screen (i.e. no video) and only the audio plays.   It does not matter if the files are Mpeg4 or mts.   I have routinely used Elements 9, 10 & 11.  This is a new 64bit machine and this is the only time this has occurred.

If you are one of those Premiere Elements 10 users whose computer works with a NVIDIA video card, please read through the thread in which I have been compiling "what has worked for others" related to this Premiere Elements NVIDIA video card display problem. If you have NVIDIA video card and you can find it mentioned in the thread, please try the roll back information given by another version 10 user with the same card as yours.

  • Videos are importing into AfterEffects in choppy slow motion?

I am trying to make my first commercial. I used a cannon camera to shoot alot of footage.
When I watch the ".mov" file in quicktime it plays perfectly fine. However when I try to import into After Effects and hit play the video is in slow motion and is very choopy? I cant figure this out to save my life and this is a project for school! I have tried changing the settings to "hdtv1080 24" and it still is not working?
Does anyone know what I may be doing wrong??

Um, it sounds like you're doing just about everything wrong.  With AE, you need to walk before you run, you have to know the basics before you can do ANYTHING of substance, and it appears you don't have the time to learn the basics.  And no, there aren't any hard-and-fast answers to a situation where you need just a couple of simple things.  What you think could be simple may not be in AE terms.
Do you even NEED to use AE?   Why can't you use a video editing application, which is far easier to figure out?

  • Converting 1080/50p video for import into Premiere Elements

    Hi there,
I'm currently looking into buying an HD camcorder, and editing software to go with it.  I'm considering getting a camcorder which can record in 1080/50p for future-proofing, however I see that Premiere Elements doesn't currently support 1080/50p editing.  I was wondering whether I could sensibly shoot video in 1080/50p for archiving, but convert it down to either 1080/50i or 720/50p prior to importing into Premiere?  Is there a suitable intermediate input format which Premiere supports and which wouldn't result in a significant loss of quality due to the extra transcoding step?
Also, what is the recommended system requirement for 1080/50i and 720/50p editing?  I have a 2007 Macbook (2.2 GHz Core2 Duo, 4GB RAM), would that be sufficient?
    Thank you.

Thanks a lot for the very quick response Steve.
I suspect shooting 1080/50i is likely to be the way to go, I'll obviously have a play once I get the camera.  I just wanted to check whether it's feasible to shoot in 1080/50p, but convert to 720/50p prior to importing into Premiere Elements.  That way I can keep a copy of the 1080/50p clip to use in a few years time when the consumer editing software has caught up.
If I were to do that, what's the recommended file format to convert to prior to import?  Is there something similar to AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec) which is fast to convert to and edit from - ideally I'd rather not convert to 720/50p H.264.  Is there a list of Premiere Elements' supproted input formats somewhere?

  • Compressor 4.1: exporting files to import into DVD Studio Pro

    Hey folks,
Having issues trying to figure out how to generate both the .m2v  and the .ac3 files to import into my "legacy" application of DVD Studio Pro. I have separate projects all done...clients waiting... and ready to export from FCPX.
It seems that the only function that this new Compressor can do, is to build the files and then automatically build and burn a DVD. I need to create my own menus and chapters. I  USED to be able to do this in my older version of Compressor easily.
Am I stuck? I did not know that this version would act in this manner in the "upgrade". If I could...I'd rather have my older version back!

Select the job. In the Inspector choose When Finished, Do Nothing.
You will get the two elementary files saved to whatever location you specify. You can import those files into DVDSP.

  • Why do 4 video clips import into iMovie and one doesn't?

I attempted to import 5 short clips into my MacBook Pro from the same event, shot with an ipad2.  Four of the clips easily imported into iMovie.  IMovie said that the fifth clip wouldnt import because it is 'not compatible with iMovie'. All of the clips are 1280x720, H.264/AAC, encoding 7.0.2. Importing to IMovie 11, version 9.0.9.  I've read thru some of the strings but haven't quite found this problem. Any ideas?
    thank you

I think this is an SD memory card camera. It does not work in a format that FCE uses. FCE only works with DV, HDV or AVCHD material. Everything else has to be converted to a format FCE works with.

  • Screencam quality  imported into DVD Studio

Hi, I am relatively new to DVD Studio Pro,
and are currently developing a training DVD that utilises screen cams captured using IShowU. These have been captured using the Apple Intermediate Codec, transferred and edited in FCP , output via Compressor (have also tried QT Compression Export) using the DVD codec Best 90 minutes to generate the file for DVD Studio Pro.
They look great out of FCP and in QT but when they import to DVD Studio Pro the text is blurry, images have jagged edges. this only the case for the screencams. The Motion menus look great.
I have tried many compression types, different size screen capture settings and none really show much improvement. Am I missing something very fundamental?
    thanks for your help
    Mark

You can set your display to 640x480. That way you will not have any surprises, what you see is what you will get. If you work at a higher resolution, it will need to be converted down, so you will not know what it looks like until after compression.
An alternative which some people use is to work at a higher resolution. All of what they want to capture is in the upper left corner working down and right. They don't need the dock or anything on the far right of the screen. So they create a special background that has a 640x480 box that starts in the upper left corner. They then only work within that box and only capture within that box.

  • What kind of Macromedia Flash Files Can I Import into DVD Studio Pro 4 ?

    Hello there,
I have this silly question for you guys but I read
the Technical Specifications of DVD Studio Pro 4
    at this link
    http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/dvdstudiopro/specs.html
    it has under import
    ** Macromedia Flash 5 **
So I tryed to import a swf file into my project and I'm getting an incompatible file error message.
Do I have to do something with my flash file (ie: omit Action Script) or It's not posible to import a file from flash?
    thank you Very Much
    Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I am having the same issue. I am new to compressor and DVD studio so I don't know if I'm doing something wrong.
I just compressed a 20 minute video in the 90 minute best SD compressor format. The file name end with .compressor. When I try drag the file from the finder into the assets window of compressor, I get a dialog box that says: incompatible format. How annoying!

  • Video Files Import into an IMAC

Can someone lend me their advice ...
I am using a PC and creating a POWERPOINT show ... I have different tools to take this show to convert it into a video file (like MP4 etc).
What Ia m trying to do - is to merge a video file and pictures - the pictures to follow the movie - and throughout this "show" - one MP3 file will be played.
So the questions is - importing a video file into IPHOTO - is this possible - and if so - what is the best file type to convert the PowerPoint into???
Once I am able to create this show - then the plan is to put it into IMOVIE - and cut a DVD ...
Any suggestions - input - ideas - would be greatly appreciated!

Great Guys! Thanks for the advice!
I like using PowerPoint for it's ability to have total control on objects like text and graphics on 1 slide - in a show. Timed to music - it can produce some dramatic affects. I ALSO like the easy ability to take a MP# file -and if I have let's say - 33 pictures - it automatically splits the song equally - to each picture of the show, enabling an easy finish.
What I would LIKE to do - is to use PowerPoint transitioning affects on about the first 7 slides (pictures) - then - take that out as a video file - PULL IT into IPHOTO - then - add the remaining pictures to complete the show - ALL timed to one MP3 file.
Basically - I have other programs that can convert (export) the Powerpoint show (file) to any video output - I just need to know which one would work with IPHOTO. Adding these into IMOVIE - enables me then to cut a DVD, which then can be duped ...
    Make sense???
I SO appreciate your expertise and suggestions as to the file types to use - or anything else you would recommend! THANK YOU!
Again - its the file types that I am seeking advice - that will work with IPHOTO!
