Video file conversion

I imported a movie into itunes but the file format was not supported, so I followed the instructions and coverted it. Unfortunately the audio portion of the movie doesn't seem to have converted properly; the sounds are unintelligible.
Is there any way to fix this, or a better way to convert the file rather than using the itunes converter. Thanks for your help.

I use Nero Recode and have no problems. Also, Super and Iriverter works well.

  • AVCHD to Uncompressed Video File Conversion Factor

I have a Canon HF S21 camcorder and I'm looking for a conversion factor from AVCHD to Uncompressed Video Files when filming in maximum video resolution of 1920 X 1080. I want the conversion factor to size an eternal firewire hard drive for editing my videos in Final Cut Express.

Whilst I have no experience of AVCHD other than a few clips from the DVD in Tom's book, I have used ProRes and Apple Intermediate Codec which is what all AVCHD is converted to before editing in FCE/FCP and the USB 2.0 Hub and Hard Drives combination has worked flawlessly.
Of course, until I have actually used an AVCHD camera I won't be able to comment either way with any certainty.
For a while I have been wondering whether PAL or 25fps based cameras act slightly differently from NTSC or 30fps ones with regard to ease of editing my way.
Here's an example I posted some time ago, though be aware that the image has been reduced to 1280x720 and a very low data rate was used in order to keep the file very small because of a monthly cap on my internet use.

  • Video files conversion in iMovie'09

I'm using iMovie09 with Snow Leopard and during a project creation, I wish to change a video file speed. The normal procedure is convert the video(option present when you open the supervisor). The progress bar shows task completed, but iMovie stops working this time and a force shutdown is required.
This same procedure was working fine with Leopard, then the problem appeared after upgrade to Snow Leopard.
Any idea to fix it(besides downgrade to Leopard)?

    Hello-
I need to import some video and audio form some beta tapes and am wondering if this can be done in iMovie 09? Some of the tapes are hour long documentaries that i have scored and I have read on this forum that people have run into problems when trying to capture more than 5 minutes of footage. I have also read that there have been issues capturing the audio.
Would I have more success capturing in FCE? Picture and audio quality is paramount for me.
    Thanks!!
You can import into iMovie '09, but you need some kind of analog-digital video converter.
    Apple sells this one: http://store.apple.com/us/product/TJ555LL/A
but there are many other devices available. Some with less features are substantially cheaper.
My old Firewire connected camcorders can do this conversion, but not all can, so take a look at your camcorder's manual if you do not already know.
iMovie can take the Firewire output of your converter and capture the import directly to your disk.
The video output quality of VCR tapes will not be as high as digital sources, but, in my experience, you will certainly lose some video quality with iMovie '09. I suggest you test a short segment captured or imported into iMovie '09. If you see video too much degradation, test with FCE. FCE will retain all the quality that your VCR tapes can offer.

  • Video File Conversions for use in IMOVIE

I have a Sony DCR-DVD100 Camcorder and a Powerbook G4. Video files on the camera cannot be imported into IMOVIE for use and editing. The computer can play the files via a USB connection. The video files include VIDEO_TS.BUP VIDEO_TS.IFO and VIDEO_TS.VOB
Can anybody offer advice or recommendations? Apparently there are downloads which will convert the files for use in IMOVIE but I need some guidance. Thanks.

DVDs use muxed mpeg video and QT will not export sound from such formats. QT Mpeg Limitations
One workaround is to demux the mpeg-2 to separate video and audio streams. Sorry, I don't have a link to a Windows demux utility but I am sure you can find one on the net. Convert those separately to QT formats and then use QT to combine the separate tracks into a single file, like mpeg-4, which the iPod should read. QT (if you buy the mpeg2playbackcomponent) will play and convert the video to other formats. For the sound you will have to use a separate sound utility to convert the mpeg sound stream to a QT compatible form like AIFF or Wave. This freeware application offers a Windows version that should do the conversion. Audacity

  • Itunes - Video file conversion (Picture but no sound)

When I convert videofiles (avi, wmv) to Ipod/Iphone using Itunes i get the picture but no sound.
    Please help me.

It's an issue with the file being multiplexed (a.k.a muxed, where the audio and video tracks are interleaved together into one track). iTunes can't export the audio from these files. Read more about it here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1721?viewlocale=en_US
    And then here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1588?viewlocale=en_US
You can download a 3rd party program that will convert the files for you so they work properly. Check out this link:

I hope that helps. Good luck.

  • Video file conversion question

I have some TV shows I downloaded off the iTunes store for my kids that I want to be able to send to my TV.  They are 1080p M4V files and I thought this would be a no brainer.
I have a WDTV that plays everything known to man that will not play these and an Apple TV 1st generation that will not play them due to the fact they are 1080p!
I considered converting these down to 720p for the ease of playing these on the Apple TV, but cannot find a converter that will preserve the surround sound.  MPEG streamclip does stereo only, Handbrake will not reconize these files, and Quicktime will not allow me to export these either.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,

These are probably protected videos; TV shows and movies on iTunes mostly are.
Since you posted in the MacBookPro forum, I'll assume you actually have a MBP.  It will be far simpler just to show these movies on your TV by connecting your MBP to the TV and using iTunes to view them (you can show full screen, btw).
Trying to convert iTunes M4V protected videos is 1)  against the terms of the iTunes store, 2) exceedingly difficult and 3)  against the TOU of these forums for anyone to suggest how to circumvent the protection.

  • RealPlayer 16 video file conversion, copying from iTunes to iPod.

I recently upgraded to RealPlayer 16 and encountered some problems I had not experienced previously with copying converted files to my iPod.  I found that by downloading them in RealPlayer format (.rv), and then selecting iTunes for PC as the output format, I was able to have RealPlayer copy them to my iTunes Library.  When I chose iPod/iPhone as the format, the files contained only audio and a green or black screen.  To copy them to the iPod, you do so my syncing and applying them to your device.  I don't know if anyone else has experienced this particular situation, but if so, I hope this informaton will be helpful.

is there artwork for every song? like make sure they all have one, for EACH individual song, because mine didnt have all of them and it showed that it did, so i went through every song and made sure it had an artwork in the bottom left hand corner. it took a while, but im pretty sure thats the only way to do it. if this doesnt work, then i'm out of ideas...sorry

  • Need help with conversion progrma for MTS video files.  Can't download videos from Sony TX-10 camera

Have new macbook pro 13".  Can't download videos from our Sony TX-10 camera.  I understand I need some kind of conversion program for MTS video files.  Need recommendation for a good conversion program to convert the video files.
    Thanks, chieftd

Well, sigh, that's not going to work.
I love how I can do months of research to choose the best camera for my needs and budget, which is NO easy task these days, but surprisingly find it on the unsupported list when it's a very popular camera.  So, while it seems to support a whole bunch of other AVCHD options from Sony, not the NEX cameras.
The NEX cameras are the latest generation of mirrorless cameras (which, ironically, are great b/c they give dSLR quality still images while actually producing HD video that always records silently and stays in focus b/c it's mirrorless).  The NEX 7 was just reviewed as Camera of the Year.
    Bleh. Oh well. Maybe someday.
And, for anyone reading, Roxio Toast Titanium did convert it just fine but it took about 20 min or my time to set up a handful of clips and then a couple hours to complete converting them for the quality I was looking for.  One was about 10 minutes of a kids' performance on Christmas and it took a long time. It's just not feasible given how many video clips I do with the camera a week - well, feasible when you consider all the cameras where this would be seamless.
Thanks for posting your reply - I appreciate it.

  • Conversion of video files - Usage of Quick Time Pro

Hello everybody. I hope somebody can help me.
I bought the QuickTime Pro 7.3.1 together with my iTouch. QuickTime can't play my videos: sometimes a message error appears saying "QuickTime ressourcendatei does not reply", sometimes it prompts me to install an additional codec (xvid etc..). even if I install a codec successfully I still can't open the videos.
And since I can't open the videos I cannot convert them for the iTouch.
    Thanks in advance for support!

Another suggestion here-download the necessary codecs.
If you do not have them, how can your system read the video files that uses them?
You do not specify your os-so Here is the most useful plugin on OS X:
