Video files in captivate

I am using video files (flv or smf-animation) in my captivate
projects - when I publish the project as a swf-file the videos are
not really integrated into the file but are delivered as an extra
file - I dont know how to change this - I like to have just one
swf-file with the video integrated - what can I do - in captivate
this works, but dont know what to do to make it work in captivate

Hi MikelDent and welcome to our community
If the files are .FLV, I don't believe there is any way to
include them. But for the .SWF variety, I think it will be included
in the main .SWF if you choose to publish as version 6 Flash
format.
If you have Flash, you might be able to convert the .FLV to a
.SWF and include it that way. But I'm unsure as to how well it
would work.
Cheers... Rick

Video files in Captivate 6 externalize when publishing the project. Is there any way to publish an SWF project with the video files all in one single file?

Rhonda, I used Captivate 6. Create a New Project. Set the project size to the size of  your MP4. In my experience, this was 640 v 480 which also happened to fit nicely within my final project.
From the menu, select Video > Insert Video. Choose "Multi-slide Synchronized" and point to the MP4 on your local drive. Select a skin and playbar that you like from Project > Skin Editor. Then publish. In the Publish dialog, choose SWF as your output format option (not HTML5).
This is the SWF that I added to my master project through Insert > Animation.
    Hope this helps!

  • Working with video files in Captivate

We have recorded a short video that we want to insert as an
animation in to Captivate. We've saved the wmv file using
Moviemaker as an avi file, but Captivate doesn't like it. A message
pops up to say "This avi file cannot be converted to swf". Any tips
on how to get a simple video in to Captivate?

Usually when audio is heard but the video is unseen, it's a
    codec issue.
What codec are you using for the AVI creation? I'd think it
    is having
issues being converted to SWF. Try exporting the AVI with a
    different codec.
Generally, I would stay away from trying to load .avi files
    into CP
    directly (as you've experienced).
Converting to FLV would be the next best thing (if not
    better) to a SWF
conversion. Don't worry about the streaming - if there's no
    FLV (FMS)
server, the movie will still play. However, if you're having
    sync
issues, that also seems likely to be a conversion issue -
    mostly related
to the codec (?). Perhaps try a different conversion tool -
    the one
    you're using seems to be...flaky.
Related to SteveC's reply, I find conversion from QT to FLV
    to be the
smoothest, so if you can output to QT (.mov), you may have
    better luck.
If you can't export the original movie to QT, try MPEG or
    MPEG2.

  • How to create common normal format video file in captivate 5 - either FLV or MP4 or AVI?

I am still using Captivate 5. After reinstall on to new machine, update always fail. click help, it direct to 404 page not found.
I am not able to generate video in common format.
Using F4V on You tube, but the screen was wither stuck half way or run too fast compare to speech.
    Anyone can help, please.

You can usually get Captivate updates from Adobe's site:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/captivate/downloads.html
But that does not list any CP5 updates, so those may just not be available anymore...
    Try this?
    Adobe Captivate 5.0 patch
Otherwise, what happens specifically when you try to publish to a video? The video output publishes properly but doesn't seem to play back properly?
It may be time to just upgrade Captivate - especially to output to MP4 directly.

  • How do you make a video file acceptable to Captivate 7?

I tried to attach a video and although the video was an .mp4, Captivate wouldn't allow it.  I downloaded the FLV Converter, but it still won't accept the file.

    This is what I did:
    1.  I added a "Caption and Content Right" slide to my presentation,
    2.  Then I clicked the "Insert Video Object" link on the new slide, selected the video from my computer (by browsing to find it) and
    3.  Clicked OK and got the following error message:  Failed to load the video file.  The file path or URL may be invalid.
So I downloaded the FLV  Converter and converted my .MOV file to an .MP4 file and it still wouldn't load and I got the same error message.

  • PDF files not executing video created with Captivate

I create eLeaning videos with Adobe Captivate and the resultant video is generated in a PDF and HTM files. For some such elearning, the PDF is not working. the window opens and the bar for TOC and a small black window where the video loads, display. It is as if the video is in the process of loading but nothing happens.
I use windows 7 OS. Captivate is not an issue since the HTM files are generating correctly. Adobe Reader is also not an issue since some of the videos are loading perfectly. There are only some videos that are giving a problem. Any idea what could be wrong. Would appreciate if anyone has an advise.

Please add the source file and published output in Flash Player global settings .
You may use the link down below to check the process of adding content to Flash Player global settings. http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AS2LCR/Flash_10.0/help.html?content=00000453.html
If it still doesn't work then please let me know the format of the video which are not working.

  • What Video file type is required for upload to Captivate 8?  I have uploaded an .mp4 video to my slide and the HTML5 tracker indicates that the slide/object is unsupported

Need help asap on this question - does this need to be an .FLV file?  There seems to be a lot of conflicting information on this.

    Hi
    I am using a MAC
    Captivate 8.0.1.242
Multi-slide synchronized so I can set the slide timing to accommodate length of video
The problem is specifically with .flv video files when publishing a responsive project or even trying to play the slide.  The video encoder pops up trying to convert the file to .mp4 for output but does not work.  My understanding is that the ONLY video file type I can use for responsive projects is .flv
    Is this correct?

  • Captivate 6 not publishing video files

Imported video files preview correctly from Captivate and are in the published SWF folder; however, the published product does not show the video.
There was some information online from a few years ago about a fix that required replacing some files in Captivate program folders, but the link to the replacement files is apparently too old to work (goes to an Adobe site but not one with patches or fixes).
    Any help is appreciated...

Upload your content to a web server or LMS and test from there.
If that doesn't work, and you can confirm (by viewing the files on the server) that the video files made it there, then check with the web server admin to make sure they have allowed the mime-type for these video files.

  • Bug with Captivate zipped video file--lose videos

Every time I zip within Captivate, I lose the video files.
What do I need to do so I can zip up the Captivate file within
Captivate but maintain my videos within Captivate? Please
    advise.

If I want to see this Import Video dialog, I have to go through the insert option and then choose FLV or F4V.
By cons, there is a frame (play, stop buttons) that appears around my video and I can not put it in my table of contents ( it doesn't show in the Video Management) . Since I want my video (an avatar) in the table of contents, I have to go through: Video - Insert Video. By cons, when I do that, I can not find the Import Video dialog....!
I'm creating  online training and I put an avatar (in the TOC) at the beginning and the end of my video. It is therefore essential that my avatar is found in my zip files.
Thank you very much for your help and  for your quick responses!

  • Is there a limit to the number of video files that can be included in a captivate 6 project?

I have a project that includes 15 slide video files.  When I preview the project in html or publish it, I get a green rectangle where the video should be on about the 10th slide.  Even if I rearrange the order of the slides, always on about the 10th one I get a green rectangle where the video should be.  Is there a limit to the number of slide videos you can have in a project?

    Craig,
It was image.cpp line 2770.  I am told (by another person in the company that has seen this) that it has been seen on several machines, always PXI controllers, but not on all PXI controllers.  I am told that it is not always image.cpp that reports the error, but for me it was always the same line of code identified by the error message.  I did not have a chance to do any experimenting to find a particular threshold number of mnu files.  I may be able to find error logs.  I currently sent the controller to our IT department, doing a windows XP repair, just in case there was something corrupted in the system itself.
The error was reproducible.  This installation at one time must have included real-time / FPGA, because on the opening screen I ge the drop-down ring for selecting a target.  If I click on this drop down ring, I get the crash on line 2770, every time.  If, instead I open an empty new VI, I am able to switch to the block diagram by selecting the window directly with the mouse, but if I try to pull down on the "window" menu to do "show block diagram", I get the crash on line 2770, every time.  Because the user-defined mnu files are now deleted, I would have to create them again, or find a way to reinstall them, to reproduce the error at this point.

  • Cannot open files in Captivate 5 that were create using Captivate 5.5

I created a few videos using Adobe Captivate version 5.5 using the trial version.
After a few days i got the license for Adobe Captivate 5 and im trying to open the files that i created using Adobe captivate 5.5.
When i try to open the files Captivate shows up an error message telling 'The file might already be open or it does not exist'.
I understand they are two different versions. Has someone faced anything like this before ? Please let me know if you have solutions to open the files i have created.
    Thanks
    Chetan

You can only open Cp 5.5 files with Cp 5.5.
There is no solution for opening these files in Cp 5 version.
May I ask, why did you not get a license of Cp 5.5?  It's been around for over 6 months now.

  • Quality issues with inserted video file

    Hello,
can anyone help me with a video problem in Captivate 6.1, please!
I’m currently working on a Captivate project where I need to include a movie file.
I have the same movie in two different formats .mov and .wmv, which are both looking just great when I watch them with any player on my Windows7 system or on the Mac of my colleagues.
When inserting the movie the encoding to .flv takes place by the Media Encoder, which also seems to be working just fine.
But when playing the project in Captivate, the inserted video shows such a bad quality, that I’m not able to use it like this.
I already have tried different things (inserted as event video or multi-slide synchronized video; changed the slide quality to high; encoded the movies to .f4v files with the Media Encoder; installed a new windows codec package) but nothing leads to an acceptable result.
Which settings do I need to change in Captivate/in the Media Encoder to receive a good video quality?
What else could I do to improve the quality of movies for Captivate projects?
Is there any minimum requirements for movies concerning file format, encoding, or anything else?
Thank you so much in advance for your help,
    Sabine

    Hello Varun,
thank you very much for your reply.
I tried unchecking the compression options, doesn’t help
I haven’t yet published the project, the problems occur already when playing the project in Captivate.
    The project resolution is 1280x720.
The resolution of the .mov-file of the video is 1920x1080 (12000Kbps, if this information is any helpful…)
The resolution of the .wmv-file of the video is 1280x720 (3000Kbps…)
Maybe the problem occurs already during encoding, the .flv that is created by the Media Encoder doesn’t look that good anymore, I just played it separately (not in a Captivate project).
Are there any settings I could check for the Media Encoder?
    Thanks,
    Sabine

  • The video file jumping to the start point.

Hello, Is anyone know why the video file, when he get to the end he is jumping to the start point, And Is there  any way to prevent this?
    thanks a lot
    anat/

    Hi Anat,
Can you please confirm complete version of Adobe Captivate (Help > About Adobe Captivate).
How have you inserted the video? multi slide synchronized video or event video?
Is it jumpiing to the start point of the video or the start of your project?
In which format have you published your output?
    Thanks.

  • Close Captions can't see audio from video file

Trying to close caption a video file using Slide Notes in Captivate 5.  Inserted Video via Insert>Slide Video,  added notes via Slide Notes and checked off cc box.  When I go to Audio dialog (Audio > Record > to Slide), my notes show up only as notes, the captions tab is empty.   No audio is displayed for the slide (because it is expecting me to record or import some audio).
From what I've read, this audio dialog box is where I synch my slide notes as captions, but I can't see any audio or video synch reference at all -- even duration / frame count would work.
Do I need to import a separate mp3 version of the movie to synch to?
    Any suggestions?

I figured it out - typical obvious error on my part.   If I'm captioning a MOVIE, I need to adjust the timing via the Video tab, not the audio tab.
